Hi, Welcome to the new thread, the one where we can't drink a cup of tea in peace (there you go, we could have used that for a title!!)

I was in bodyshop yesterday and M trashed the place. Luckily the sales assistant thought she was sweet as she pulled things off displays and legged it out the shop with jars of body butter (several times)!!, cue me legging it after her with a handful of makeup . Luckily there were no store detectives aroud. She also tried to wear every shoe within her reach at the shoe shop.

no I don't have anyone here to help tbh. I am waiting for the flu med to kick in so I feel human enough to take dd1 to school and dd2 to nursery so I can go back to bed. I feel so poorly I don't think I should drive at the mo. Last night I was shivering through what felt like most of the night. Is it a legit reason to keep dd1 off school? I can't believe I am sitting here crying I feel so poorly and alone.

imoscarsmum · 10/11/2009 09:03

Oh Foxy I'm so sorry you're feeling rubbish. That is so hard, when you're on your own.
Can you get the children to school/nursery and then set your alarm for pick up time and just go to bed. Might be better than looking after them for the day. Do you have any relatives nearby?
Take care...

starlight loved your description of BS in the bath!

Debs75 · 10/11/2009 10:50

IMO so jealous of C's hair, Robyn just has some straggly patches which look more like a toupee. Is it thick as well? DD1 had lovely thick shiny hair when she was this age, now as a teenager it is a bit birds nesty.

Starlight hope you can get somewhere on appeal, LA's are really frustrating I think they just give a statement which will suit the provisions they can offer IYSWIM. Have you got nursery provision for him sorted out yet as you are right it is the mistakes that are made now which will last for years.

Have a broken bolier here so have had no heat or hot water since Saturday night. It is absolutely freezing here and we have had to wait inside in the cold for the last 2 days waiting for a council man to come and fix it. They said it is a 24 hour emergency but it has already gone over that time. robyn has about 4 layers of clothes on and has had to spend the last 2 nights in our bed as she was too cold in her cot with her gro-bag on. She won't have covers so she has to curl up with us.

DG hope everyhting works out, I had bleeding with Robyn just as I found out I was pregnant so it was a huge shock when I could see her on the scan. Keeping fingers crossed

foxytocin · 10/11/2009 11:06

I managed to get dd1 to school on time and drop dd2 off at nursery. I think the cry I had helped to clear my sinus a bit too. I am off to bed now for a nap. I have eaten some breakfast despite having no appetite. I always have an appetite.

ninja · 10/11/2009 12:17

Thanks for all the kind thoughts.

It's been quite a week.

I did go to Edinburgh for the training, but then was violently sick after the training and missed the night out I did get to lie in bed for 12 hours in the dark which was almost a treat!

An hour after I got home Mum phoned to say that my Grandma had died so I was in shock for the rest of the day. She was 100 and had had 95 really active years. She was a loving inspiration.

Funeral's on Friday and I'm doing a speech.

H has been nicer but still in spare room. He's started talking about plans for Christmas which seems crazy, but I don't have the energy this week to question him on his plans.

DD1 and H were both sick last night so it seems as if we've all had a bug. I'm currently 'working at home' with DD1 in tow - we're making Christmas tree decorations

Keeping my finger's crossed DG

So sorry to hear about your Grandma Ninja, I remember you metnioning her with great affection on here before.

Sounds like your H is playing with your emotions. Don't be pissed around, it is like mental torture. {{{}}}

Do you want a hug or a manly pat Foxy? Or you can have both? I hope you start to feel better soon. I don't want to add to your woes, but be careful about what flu med's you take. There is one particular thing that can affect milk supply, especially an established supply. I'll see if I can find the name.

Am very jealous of the hair! I laughed at the Cousin It reference! M's hair has thickened since he was a newborn, but it doesn't seem to have groen in length.

We use Burts Bee's shampoo and body wash. It's silly expensive, but it does it all, it smells divine and you don't have to use much.

You make Baby Starlight sound like a Border Terrier when you mention stripping her hair

We use Johnsons when it is on offer, but I am complete sucker for baby products and try everything and anything - whatever the price

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/11/2009 13:47

Oh arse Foxy, I can't remember or find the name of the ingrediant. Sorry, that was really half arsed advice.

foxy - me again! I have found out what it is. The drug is called phenylephrine.

It can dramatically reduce prolactin levels in breastfeeding mothers particularly in established breastfeeding of an older baby.

So keep an eye out for it.

Anyway, I shall stop waffling on about it now

Debs75 · 10/11/2009 14:26

Star feel a bit guilty now as I went to council and played up a stink and it should be done by tomorrow at the very latest. Apparently the gas man had alreasy been and got no answer bullshit so they cancelled the order. Couldn't do without heat for 4 weeks (no gas fire as DS was posting toys down the back)
I suppose the benefit of being in a rundown council home is they have to repair things promptly

digitalgirl · 10/11/2009 15:31

Things have taken a turn for the worse, so am now tucked up in bed with laptop and DH has taken DS for a stroll to give me some peace.

foxy sorry to hear your so ill, a good cry usually helps clear the system out.

ninja am so sorry to hear about your grandma. It does sound like she had a good life though.

We've not used any products on DS's hair (although I suspect my mum may have). But it's so fine that a quick rinse usually gets rid of whatever he's rubbed in it.

Had a bit of a tough morning. Took DS for his MMR jab and then to playgroup to give him something to do while I tried to sit down and ignore the cramping. Then went to pick DH up from the station and really felt like I just wanted to lie down. So asked DH to take the rest of the day off and watch DS while I cried in bed for a bit. Have passed some very large clots, so I think that's it. It's over. Even though it was a bit of a shock findi

ng out I was pg on Friday I'd got really excited by it. So hopefully, we can pay a bit more attention to TTC after this. Although, by my cycles we'll only get a chance once every two months so I have to try not to get too obsessed by it.

foxytocin · 10/11/2009 15:35

Well I just took my temp and it is 103. earlier I was shivering in bed. I have taken 3 doses of flu med (probably with that ingredient ILTMI) but I still have milk. I have to go get the dds soon. The last time I felt this awful was about 20 yrs ago when I had sino-bronchitis. I have done it now and rung dh to come home. I can't sit here crying because I feel like I can't look after the girls. He is working 3 hrs away near Cambridge. I've rung the Flu helpline and they've given me a code for tamiflu.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/11/2009 16:40

So sorry to hear that Digi. You take care of yourself.

Take care of yourself too Foxy. I'm glad to hear your dh is on the way home (sounds like he's working in my part of the woods)

Have another good cry when he gets home and make sure he looks after you good and proper.

foxy Your poor thing - hope you feel better soon x

star I am FURIOUS on your behalf....give me their phone nubmer ....now!!!!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 10/11/2009 19:04

I hope you told them to fuck off Starlight. If not out loud, then in your head.

And you do know they are WRONG, don't you. Don't let them make you doubt yourself xxx

ninja · 10/11/2009 19:10

Starlight . (although maybe they read the shopping centre thread )

DG {{{}}} sorry to hear that.

Foxy hope your DH is home soon.

Off to remember Grandma - there's lots to remember. She was a wren in the war, an assistant to a labour MP. Was chair of the local wrens into her 90's and also went to art classes into het 90's. She taught me how to knit and knitted many items with varying degrees of fashion sense! She made great puddings and gave us kids bread with hundreds and thousands (when my parents hardly even allowed us biscuits!). She loved cats and one of her cats used to follow us to school and then wait for us to come home again after school when we lived with her for a year. She was a refuge from the rest of my family and I could go on and on ....

Oh Ninja sorry to hear your news but also sounds comforting to remember such a full and long life. I hope I bow out around that age.

DG I am so sorry. Keep your chin up me girl.

Starlight ignore them. They talk rubbish. Tell em what they want to hear and remember they'll still be stuck in their sad lives when you & yours have moved on.

And Debs C's hair is sort of thick. When I picked her up from nursery today, they had put 2 bunches in her hair as it was falling into her lunch. She looked ultra cute!

Foxy get well soon.

DebiTheScot · 10/11/2009 19:56

Big hugs for ninja, digi, foxy and starlight and anyone else who needs one.

debs you can have one too to keep you warm.

I had a tooth out today. Had huge roots that were tripod shaped instead of straight and took a huge amount of force to get out but isn't sore at the moment as Ikeep taking pain killers before it even thinks about getting sore.

imoscarsmum · 10/11/2009 19:58

Ooh and C blew her first kiss today and when I asked her where her nose was, she touched it!!

Hopefully · 10/11/2009 20:14

So sorry to hear of all the bad things, lots of love to Ninja, DG, Foxy and Starlight.

IMO, T has taken to beating himself about the head when I ask him where his head is. I have now stopped, even though it was amusing
