Hi, Welcome to the new thread, the one where we can't drink a cup of tea in peace (there you go, we could have used that for a title!!)

I was in bodyshop yesterday and M trashed the place. Luckily the sales assistant thought she was sweet as she pulled things off displays and legged it out the shop with jars of body butter (several times)!!, cue me legging it after her with a handful of makeup . Luckily there were no store detectives aroud. She also tried to wear every shoe within her reach at the shoe shop.

OP posts:

digitalgirl · 10/11/2009 21:00

Oh bloody hell starlight do they think it is better to let your children freeze? Can't bloody win with jobsworth twunts like that.

Thanks for all the hugs. Feeling particularly sorry for myself as my mum is out of the country for another 10 days so there's no one to help with DS tomorrow. But to be honest I think I'm over the worst of the cramps and I'm sure I'll feel differently tomorrow.

But the icing on the cake today my flexible part time nanny who was able to work around my freelancing called to say she's got another job - with permanent days so she's got a guaranteed income. Knew it would happen eventually but was hoping for a couple more months grace till I was potentially offered a permanent job myself.

What a shit day it's been all round. For quite a few of us.

Pacita · 10/11/2009 21:21

Just caught up with the thread. Ladies, I am so sorry.

Digi, I am sad with you, and I hope the bean is still holding on. I am only round the corner, and although having your mum around would be the best possible thing, I can come over to bring shopping, chicken soup or to entertain A with Diego while you have a lie down if required. Honestly, just ask. I am working tomorrow, but free Thursday and Friday. It'd be lovely to meet up again anyway.

Starlight, social workers give me the hibbijibbies. Apart from being stupid, thoughtless, rude and quite ignorant about you and your family, could they do anything to you or de DCs? Of course, they could try and speed up your boiler being fixed, which would be helpful, but sadly defeat their general purpose in life, which seems to be to annoy the fuck out of people and ignore the really serious and life threatening cases.

Ninja, you were lucky to have such a wonderful grannie. I adore mine, and the thought of losing her really scares me. Here's to her long and fruitful life. And I hope things improve with the (d)H.

Foxy, it may well be that your incubation of the flu is too far for Tamiflu to have any effect, because all it does is to reduce the number of days that the symptoms are present, but only if taken within the first few days of incubation. I'm no specialist by any means, but it may be worth for someone feeling better than you to check, as you may save yourself the side effects. At any rate, hugs and wet compresses in your forehead. Hope you are feeling better soon.

And Debs, healing vibes to your boiler too!

Sorry today has been shit for some people today. Sending hugs and hopefully a good nights sleep to everyone.

foxytocin · 11/11/2009 09:15

Symptoms seem to be improving without Tamiflu. Temp this morning was only (ha ha) 100 degrees before the flu tabs kicked in. I didn't realise it can make you feel worse, Pacita. The onset of this was so rapid there was no way I could have gotten Tamiflu before. On Sunday i had mild symptoms which could have been anything but by 5am Monday morning I was sticken.

Ninja your gran sounds like an amazing woman. I hope when I am older (40th birthday tomorrow!) I can be like that. I used to be a natural history and ornithology tour guide in another incarnation and I regularly took very sprightly over 70's on 10 day walking holidays. They were an inspiration to me what they had done with their lives and keep doing which taught me that old age is just another phase to be grasped and lived to the full.

How come everyone is seeing Deb's photo? I can't. I am using Firefox and have blocked ad-ons. Could this be why? Is it blocking 'Profiles'?

Starlight OMG I haven't read that thread yet but a brief look at it and . The only bit of advice I have is that the next time they 'visit' or any then have a friend with you so that you can have someone to corroborate your version of what transpired. If they want to play hard ball then you have to start to make moves to protect your best interests.

foxytocin · 11/11/2009 09:16

oops, any meeting

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 11/11/2009 13:06

Somewhat late, but I hope your ds had a lovely birthday yesterday. I am hoping your ex got his shit together for it, but I'm guessing he probably didn't.

I hope you all od on jelly and ice-cream and birthday cake

mamamuffin · 11/11/2009 16:10

Hi guys
Its a blast from the past. I ve been lurking for a couple of days now. Dont suppose I can join you again? I ve broken my foot and have to put my feet up for 6 weeks. Arghhhhh.

mamamuffin · 11/11/2009 16:11

Just trying a bit of catch up now x

CarrieBo · 11/11/2009 17:30

mama you poor thing, but welcome back!

Starlight OMG it never rains but it pours

DG my first pg ended in mc at nearly 6 weeks, I remember passing 'the clot' and knowing that was it. I'm so sorry, look after yourself xx

ninja your Gran sounds awesome, so sorry she's gone

foxy poor you, but a great big HAPPY BIRTHDAY for tomorrow!!

We've moved! Monday was such a great day, Pickfords the legends had the van loaded by 11:30am, but we didn't get the keys for another 4 hours. Mum was looking after my kids at a friends house, so DH and I had a day-date, we went carpet and kitchen shopping, mooched around the shopping park and had a leisurly starbucks! They had unloaded the van by 5:30, and I had the kids rooms looking presentable by the time mum brought them back just after 7.
8am Tuesday the electricians turned up to re-wire the place so we're camping at other people's houses for a few days, and all our stuff is still in boxes and we have to find our mattress at night to sleep on the floor. But we're loving it, it makes me smile so much to turn onto the road.

Enough gushing, my wonderful chum is cooking dinner while I catch up on here, better go! Internet should be in the new house next monday!

becaroo · 11/11/2009 20:33

carriebo great news. Hope you will be very happy in your new house.

DG and foxy thinking of you both

Welcome back mama!

Not much to report here other than major fued with inlaws (too trivial to bother about)

Love to all x

becaroo · 11/11/2009 20:34

I think that should read "feud". Brain not working. sorry.

Meglet · 11/11/2009 20:58

carrie so happy you have your new house!!!! What did you end up with, more / bigger bedrooms, second loo? / utility area?

iltmimi yes, ds had a fun day. And yes, no card or anything from xp. But his family all sent presents so at least they are still keeping involved.

Welcome back mamamuffin. Enjoy your mn fix while you recover.

I think dd has big snotty nose problems. She always seems to be bunged up with catarhh (sp?) and snot all night long and I often have to change the sheets + her sleepy suit during the night as they are damp with snot and bogies, poor little mite. I think a trip to the doc's is in order to see what is causing it. Her cot is already raised, but its made no difference.

Debs75 · 11/11/2009 23:22

Digi So sorry for you jave been through it myself and still remember the helplessness of it all.

Foxy hope you feel better soon and have a nice birthday

Star just read your thread and you are going through the mill on this aren't you. SW can be like banging your head against a brick wall only the wall keeps pretending to move out the way. Try to remember that ultimately they do want the same as you it's just they don't prioritise like you do. Smile sweetly at them and keep your cool. Good luck in your next meeting.

Got the boiler fixed so we have heat again.
On the downside Robyn has a bug and was sick today twice. That makes it the fourth time she has been sick ever so I was really scared when she threw-up in her car seat and I couldn't see what was happening. She cabn't keep food down but is ok with breast milk so am going to just bf tomorrow and hope she can work it out of her system

CarrieBo · 12/11/2009 12:47

meglet we've moved from a 3 bed mid-terrace with 2 loos, to a 3 bed semi with only one loo! But the bedrooms are much bigger, there is a hallway downstairs, a garage, and potential to extend sideways, out the back, and into the loft.
The re-wire should be finished today, although the builder isn't coming to plaster it up til next week. A second architect is coming tomorrow to quote for doing our extension. Exciting!
Still camping at chum's house though to avoid the electricians and the dust!
Last nigth we built our new tv stand...it was from argos and such poor quality. The instructions were bad, there were the wrong number of screws, and it wasn't totally obvious where everything went. Ikea I'm sorry I was unfaithful, you reign supreme!
Ds was sick three times yesterday (including an epic in the carseat, another friend is washing that as we have no electricity for our washing machine!). Seems fine today though.

Debs75 · 12/11/2009 13:10

Robyn is still poorly, had no food today just water and breast milk. She is currently having her 3rd nap. All she wants to do is curl up with me and feed or drink. nO temp but has had some calpol as she seems so poorly. Hoping a few hours sleep today might perk her up and get her back to her normal self.

DebiTheScot · 12/11/2009 14:17

Poor Robyn hope she's better soon. It's horrid when they're ill

Yay Carrie so happy for you that you've finally moved Seemed liked you'd been in the process of doing it for sooooo long. I love that you smile everytime you turn down your street. Hope the builders/electricians etc get their jobs done quickly and properly.

We got some important papers from the solicitor to sign in front of witnesses today. Can't remember exactly what they are but it's good to have evidence that things are happening. Fingers crossed we'll be moved next month.

Arcadie · 12/11/2009 14:24

Yay debi, hope you get moved soon! We had to do the witness thing three times - one for mortgage, one for contract of sale and one for contract of purchase. Enjoy!

Better go and get ds out of bed

Arcadie · 12/11/2009 14:25

This is Carrie by the way...!! Forgot to log chum out since I'm on her computer (apologies to Arcadie that this is now on your 'threads I'm on' list )

mamamuffin · 12/11/2009 14:47

Hi guys
Thanks for making me feel welcome again.
Happy birthday foxy
Congratulations on your house move carrie, they say its one of the most stressful things to do. I have had my loft converted this year and have the number of a fantastic builder if you need it. I hope you are really happy in your new pad.
Hope robyn is on the mend, its horrible when they are ill.
Thinking of you digi sending a big hug xx

foxytocin · 12/11/2009 14:56

thanks for the birthday wishes. have been tucked up in bed in the middle part of today. now off to get dd from school. poor thing she wants her mum to pick her up like other mums pick up their 'little dawlins' as she calls all children her own age.

We will buy a double chocolate chocolatey cake for the weekend so she can sing happy birthday to us and tuck in.

foxytocin · 12/11/2009 14:57

PS: 'to us' should clarify: dh and I have the same birthday.

imoscarsmum · 12/11/2009 17:04

Glad to hear move went well Carrie. Just popping in to say hi.
If you're after a good TV stand at a decent price, we got ours from www.standland.co.uk/ They were good and deliver UK wide.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 12/11/2009 20:18

Many happy returns to Mr Foxy too

Congratulations on the move Carrie, it will be you next Debi

Welcome back muffin

IMO - can I please have your recipe for those savoury flajacks you mentioned recently? Ta.

DS's new grobags arrived today. I realised his old ones were getting a bit small as they were rather sug around the neck and armpits, then at the weekend I realised he couldn't actually straighten his legs The new ones (18-36 months) are huge. Where are our babies going?

Come to think of it, what makes a toddler a toddler? Is it when they start to walk?

Meglet · 12/11/2009 22:27

Happy birthday Mr & Mrs Foxy.
