Oh go on then.

I'm rubbish at titles though but I bow down to Oli's cakes and supermum.

Bookmarking for if/when get home.

Hope you are okay Jabber.

Indith · 19/04/2010 08:05

Meh, clearly the small whirlwinds of destruction are affecting my spelling.

Lenni hope you get home soon!

Filthy and wet sounds great. We've been enjoying the sun here, amazing how filthy they get when you give them a bucket of water and chuck them in the garden

Dd and ds2 have spent every one of these sunny days making mud pies and digging in the garden. They've had a ball but my washing pile is out of control .

jabberwocky · 20/04/2010 13:54

I'm back, still drinking a little more than usual but the funeral did help a bit with closure. You all may remember from my description last year it's pretty much a 24 hour affair around here.

Lenni, I think of you every time they announce more flight delays. I hope you guys are able to make the best of it and enjoy the unexpected extra holiday.

Indith · 20/04/2010 16:07

Glad it helped Jabber. Careful with that wine [stern], keep talking and take care of yourself.

First full day in nursery for ds. Dd and I met some friends in town and did a bit of shopping, I kept turning round to check for ds. I think dd is enjoying not having ds around, she adores him but at the moment he is constantly stopping her from doing things. She is currently chatting and grinning at me without threat of being wrestled to the ground

Enjoying the clear blue skies here. So many people are stuck abroad though. Including friend's DS who is on his own in Spain (aged 7 with AS)

Elibean · 20/04/2010 18:22

Me, too, Castles. We can actually sleep with the windows open and not get woken up by planes. Bliss for us, but horrible for your ds's friend - and for my bf who is supposed to be emigrating to the US on Thursday

Lenni, hope its going ok for you...good stuck or awful stuck?

Computer is on its last legs, keeps crashing, so getting in a quick post while I can....dh says he will try and get spare old laptop working so I can use it, but

Jabber, big hugs to you, I'm glad the funeral helped a bit but still - be gentle with yourself, y'hear?

EV, we were very near Cirencester! Where were you?

EVye · 20/04/2010 20:16

Eli we were here

It was lovely. I cant believe we were so close. It would have been lovely to meet up.

I think perhaps a southern meeet up over the summer hols might be nice?

Indith · 22/04/2010 17:27

Argh!

Glorious day today. After I got over the stress of almost missing the bus due to over sleeping by everyone and dd doing a wee on me at the 11th hour we had a great day with friends inthe botanic gardens. Now ds is in bed throwing a tantrum and dd is munching random stuff out of the fridge while I hide and calm down. Ds sat at the table, declared he didn't like risotto (usual response is to get excited and eat the lot as it is his fave) and started crying. So dd who had started tucking in threw her entire plate on the floor and refused to eat another bite. Of course dh is rowing tonight so no knight in shining armour to rescue me.

Suppose I had better check on dd. And maybe ds.

Indith · 23/04/2010 09:06

So when I checked on ds he was asleep, I decided to just leave him and he didn't wake until 6.45 this morning!

lost you, will b back soon

jabberwocky · 24/04/2010 16:44

I'm back and it looks like lenni has made it home.

Indith, was ds just tired or coming down with something?

feeling better, had a talk with dh regarding my feeling low, too much wine and his chronic health issues. I think everything just got to be too much for a while there. We have gone to dh's dr and started a new pain management plan for him that may be working (fingers crossed).

Now he is peeved at me b/c after 6 months of looking I have found a puppy that I want to get for the boys - and me He's probably right, but my heart longs for another dog and this one just feels right.

weirdbird · 24/04/2010 19:30

Hello

Jabber so sorry to hear about your friend

We went off to my parents for Easter so DH could try and finish the DIY in the hallway so wasn't on the net except to quickly check email and post on FB.

We also bought a new car (well new to us) so that has been very exciting.

Hopefully we might finish some of the outstanding house renovations before bump turns up in Sep as I know from DD2 we just wont get anything done for at least a year after they turn up!

I really do want to have carpet on the stairs again, poor DD2 has never known anything except floorboards...

It was soooooo peaceful here without any planes (I live next door to Heathrow) you could actually hear the birds and wildlife I was suprised by how much difference it actually made!

Lenni · 26/04/2010 20:38

I am back, we have all been ill with a stomach bug that we caught in the last couple of days of the 'holiday' so not caught up properly yet. Plus I still have my dissertation to finish, fortunately they gave me a week extension until May 7th.

Holiday was good but far too expensive to think about and very stressful in the end. We were convinced by Tuesday night that we would have to travel home overland with the DCs which wasn't a great thought and then just as we were about to get on the coach the airports were opened, thank goodness. The flight home was terrible though, loads of turbulence and we flew so low over France I could make out cars and washing, eek, not exactly convinced it was safe.

Jabber, glad DH seems to be improving, a puppy sounds lovely, although I wouldn't envy you the house training I couldn't be without our dogs. I am trying to slowly introduce DS to them now. I don't let them in the room with DS when he is playing on the floor, although they are around for the rest of the day while I am cooking and doing other things. He is still too unpredictable around them but he is getting better and we found with DD that we needed to slowly teach her how to treat them kindly otherwise they remained too interesting to resist the odd stranglehold hug. Our two are 6 and 7 and the 7 year old is a boxer so he'll probably only live until 10 so he's an oldish boy really, he needs gentle treatment bless him. The 6 year old is a mongrel rescue dog and a total sap, she'd lie on her back and have her tummy scratched all day if you were up to it.

Best go, meant to be working but will be around again now hopefully.

WB - hope pg going well.

Can someone help me feel less guilty? www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childrens_health/954276-Have-notice-a-brown-mark-on-DDs-back-molars

jabberwocky · 27/04/2010 13:54

Have found another dog that probably suits us better. Still in love with the parti pup but this is a close-to-one year old standard poodle (white). He is already house trained and they say he would make a good therapy dog! Probably the best choice for ds1. Still haven't completely convinced dh though

castlesintheair · 27/04/2010 14:26

Aw, EV, have replied. Fret ye not.

Welcome home Lenni

accessorizequeen · 27/04/2010 20:22

puppy/dog sounds great, I do think about it maybe in a couple of years. Hope dh comes round, jabber.
ev, I'm sure as you get them checked regularly and supervise brushing there can't be anything major wrong. I on the other hand have never taken ds1 to the dentist and haven't gone myself for 6 years as terrified. Rubbish mother.
Had lovely day out with Indith & her ds & dd today, there is a pic on facebook of my ds2 with her ds - they had a ball! Still hoping to get together with Oli and Lenni in May (took us long enough with 4 children to do anything, could be interesting with 3 more!).

weirdbird · 27/04/2010 22:34

PG is getting better, am now 20 weeks woohooo half way, and am now only slightly aneamic rather than very...

Am thinking this might be the last, but then I did'nt think I'd have any more after the last, until DD2 was actually born and I realised in the first few hours post birth that I wanted another...

Just wish I could put myself in stasis until the birth, I really do not enjoy being pregnant, and I get so obsessed with stuff its embaressing.

Todays little foray into the world of my brain saw me obsessed that I was going to be called up for jury duty while pg and that they would turn down my application for an exclusion, tra la la role on Sep!

Indith · 28/04/2010 15:49

Hello! Back home minus ds. Was lovely to see AQ and half her brood, my pictures are on my fb profile, shall go attempt to find our group too and put them on there. I did try to get moer of AQ's dcs playing with the chess set but there really was no standing still!

hello all - dds tooth fine. I was just being a bit of a loon

jabberwocky · 29/04/2010 01:04

Good news about the tooth. I hope we fair as well on our visit in two weeks.

Very of the meetups!

I have found a reasonably priced condo on the beach for June so we are taking our first fun-only (no conference involved!) family vacation in a long time. Ds2 is so excited. He keeps asking if we are going to the beach tomorrow.

On the flip side, my laptop went in for repairs today - $350 It was a tough call but it's still half the price of a new one.

solo · 29/04/2010 01:09

Just nipping in...am about to go to bed, so wont chat. Hope all is well

Indith · 29/04/2010 17:37

Jabber ouch on the laptop.

Hi solo! pop in soon.

Got our 6 month check next week, last one resulted in my first ever filling, slightly worried as not got a maternity exemption card this time!

My house is very quiet, I rather miss my boy. Sure I'll be considering listing him on ebay within 5 mins of his return on Saturday though
