jammy.

LOL norty. I went sledging the other day., no snowman building though, don't have enough snow. DS1 has been off all week due to heating issues

just a little bit of your organising foxy. I think I would quite enjoy organising a wedding (but for someone else, our "elopment" was just the thing for us, but I would love a go at organising.) Can you replace the top table candleabra with a flower/candle type thing?

DS2s birthday tomorrow. should be wrapping his present as we speak. think he will be disappointd that he has 2 gifts to open in the morning. Dsis1 forgot to give hers to my mum the other day, Dsis2 will probably have sent him a gift by Easter (which is great as it's a big surprise), ILS have just today gone away for 3 months (if they could get to the airport) and were going to post it - we'll see. Usually I am here in charge of getting things so it's usually more of an event. We are having a little party on Sunday for a few friends. Off to Tesco tomorrow to buy a cake, too tired for baking.

Ohforfoxsake · 08/01/2010 14:40

I'm so sorry Jammy, you must have been looking forward to it. Its disappointing when you are waiting for the time to off-load doesn't happen. For me, I kind of save it up and keep it in for then.

Ahh Sputnik, my favourite words!

By the way Sputnik, I am back on my Harcombe diet. It isn't going so well this time as I put on a quarter of a pound yesterday. So I had two cheese rolls today.

I have no heating so once Green Flag came to fix the flat tyre I schlepped down to Argos for oil-radiator thingies. And am still cold.

happynewRia · 08/01/2010 18:27

yay! We went to town today, and despite the ice and snow I trekked down the theatre where I'm going with Dsis, and foudn a nice chinese restaurant almost opposite, with a 2 course lunch deal for less than #10 each.

Our lovely local pizza shop delivered DS2s birthday tea despite the weather

and DH has had to go to work, because they might be busy because the villagers won't be able to leave the village

glad you got some heating sorted foxy. I have my own personal insulation, which needs dealing with as soon as Monday gets here.

we are off to brave the weather now with chocolate cake to visit the grandparents.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 08/01/2010 19:50

Had a good day today Invited round to a friends this morning so walked round there in the snow and had a lovely morning with her boys. Then a friend and her daughter called in for half an hour this pm and after they'd gone and we'd played dollies and read books Jamlet fell asleep on my lap for an hour. She was in a lovely mood when she woke up and had her dinner nicely and giggled all the way through bedtime, really cute and charming.

Arse for your DH having to go out to work in this Ria, but glad you had a good day.

happynewRia · 08/01/2010 22:17

jammy, if only all days could be like that, sounds lovely.

DH safely home, (after rescuing a stranded policeman - that is some kind of reverse karma for the number of times they have stopped him because he drives late on quiet roads), nothing like as much snow there as here apparently, but if it snows any more he doesn't have to go in tomorrow and they did no customers at all tomight

LackaDAISYcal · 08/01/2010 22:45

sorry for the cancelled session jammy, but I hope your lovely day made up for it?

arse for the snow Ria, and I hope it is enough to keep DH home for a couple of nights, but not enduring such that it sticks the knife further into our already pretty dented economy. Looks like you guys are in for a bit of a hammering over the weekend though, according to the news earlier!

norty, tis the wrong type of snow for snowman building...way too dry and powdery...so don't be disheartened by your apparent lack of snow skills!! Good for skiing though!! Only way to get a snowman out if this is to compact it as much as you can and then carve the snowman out of it.

DS1 is up out of bed; he has a raging temp and complaining of a tummy ache. I knew he was spoiling for something earlier as he was bursting onto tears at everyhitng.

busy busy here....and DH has been off work all week, greatly interupting my pootering. As has my suicidal DS2 and escapologist DD. found her in the garden earlier in her jammies and wellies putting the toast crusts out for the birds.

happynewRia · 08/01/2010 23:51

Just one shift off would do daisy (just to even things up and make it plain he is not omnipresent/on call 24/7). (he has to be there on Sunday so he gets paid). DS1s school has been closed all week (boiler trouble) and DS2s has been closed 2 days. There is no way more snow would be a good thing if they can't open when we have no snow! Today's text said school was closed due to heavy snow in town (10 miles away?) and more forecast later! I didn't much feel like doing my job because it had snowed somewhere and it might snow more later...

what I would really like is for both children to be at school so baggins and I can form some kind of routine. My whole new year plan for my personal wellbeing was routine, and it's gone completely arse up and so it's not going great I am not sleeping at night and am increasingly edgy during the day. MHW rang yesterday to make the appt I cancelled the week of the funeral, but I missed the call and she didn't suggest anything.

DS2 gets like your DS1 when he is ill. DS1 is incredibly naughty when he is going to be.

LittleMissNorty · 09/01/2010 12:58

Why is it teachers can never get into work and the rest of us can? Or have to? The NHS doesn't stop functioning because of the weather!

Having said that, I couldn't get in yesterday as nursery was closed. We have had so much snow that we can't move the cars now and can't see pavement / road / front doorstep. And its still going.

Been to Sainsbury's this morning for essentials and it was PACKED! Forecast for tomorrow is worse than today .

The south east corner usually gets the best weather, not the bloody worst!

Hope party goes well Ria

Thanks for snowman advice...glad I'm not too crap.....its just looking at some of the efforts on FB made mine look totally pathetic! Oh well, DHs turn this afternoon . Got about 3 times as much snow to do it with now as I had anyway!

happynewRia · 09/01/2010 13:56

I think DS2s school could have safely opened until about 3pm yesterday. The surgeons in these parts seem quite good at not getting to work if it's icy according to Dsis, though she said they have a Polish one who just laughs at the others. Poor Dsis did her first shift in about 15 years on a medical ward last night. All elective surgery has been cancelled and their day surgery ward requisitioned (is that the right word?) for medical patients due to a bed shortage!Dsis was not a happy bunny! (though as she said, at least she has worked on wards before and just chooses not to, some of the other theatre staff have never done it)

Got a letter from DS1s school explaining the heating issues today. I don't actually understand if he is going back to school at all, it mentions 10 weeks to fix it in one paragraph , the head has lost all the information in annoyance and excuses!

frantically tidying for friends coming over to see DS2, kids driving me mad. I want to go back to bed

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 09/01/2010 19:10

Has been a tiring day due to an early start - Jamlet woke about 4am (we think she was cold) and never really resettled, especially after she got her cup of water and tipped it (accidentally we think/hope) over the bed and therefore need a change of bedding and pyjamas.

Braved the outside to go to Tesco (DH driving) and it was madness! But did get to the library too so I don't have to read Postman Pat's Magical bloody Christmas again

Think I may have found a holiday cottage in France for the summer. We have got an invite to a family wedding in Burgundy so are thinking of combining it with our main holiday. Trying to persuade PILs to come with us too.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 09/01/2010 19:14

Oh and Waterstones online has annuals at 99p so worth a look. We have a fwe ordered, some to keep as treats/bribes for long car journeys and some to keep through to Xmas 2010. She's too young to know that she's getting last years annual

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/01/2010 21:57

Hi Guys. Long time no see. Good to know the old faithfuls are keeping things going whilst slackers like me have fallen by the wayside . Hope everyone had great festive season.

Hi & Happy New Year. Hope you all had a great festive season. Glad to see there are still some old faithfuls keeping the thread going whilst slackers like me have fallen by the wayside.

o

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/01/2010 22:00

Sorry that's Thing 2 (or greetin face) pressing random buttons and buggering up my first post in ages.

happynewRia · 09/01/2010 22:27

hi Tbelle, good to see you

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/01/2010 22:37

Hi Ria -all well?

happynewRia · 09/01/2010 22:43

the boys are fine thanks Tbelle, though getting on my nerves a bit I made them pancakes for tea so they love me again. How are DD and T1&2? Do you have snow?

I am but relieved to say that I made a mistake reading the letter from DS1s school, and it is 10 DAYS not weeks

really ought to be wrapping pass the parcel... I hope I can fill 2 hours of party. How long does it take to eat party tea do you think?

TALLULAHBELLE · 09/01/2010 23:13

Haven't caught up properly - whose birthday?

DD is a wee star, well usually, the odd tantrum aside. DT's are STILL NOT SLEEPING THROUGH & I am at the end of my tether with it. Apart from the not sleeping they are doing really well - crawling, getting into everything & really interacting with each other which is very cute.

We do have snow - it is not all that deep but icy & treacherous & I was all but housebound today as I can't get the double buggy out. It looks gorgeous but I'm hoping for a thaw soon.

happynewRia · 09/01/2010 23:35

DS2s birthday, he is 6. Not a big party, but currently daunting.

broken sleep is a bad thing.

I dare not go out without a buggy or my hiking pole, am terrified of falling.

LackaDAISYcal · 10/01/2010 00:55

Waves to tallulah Good to "see" you again; it sounds like you have your hands full!

I hope the party goes well Ria, and happy birthday for DS2 incase I don't get on. Arse about the school heating...surely they aren't going to be off school for 10 weeks

A little more snow here today but not much; looks like the south is getting the worst of it now.

I've been busy decorating this afternoon (or rather doing the initial un-decorating!!), after sleeping until mid day but also. I am now completely un-tired, but should get to bed as DH is having a lie in tomorrow.

I have sooo much to do round the house, and need to get ebaying again, as well as sorting out some nappy demos/follow-ups and getting the web shop up and running as well as getting fluffy stock sorted out...all whilst trying to restrain hurricane baby from destroying the house/the toys/himself...WIBU to lock him in a big cardboard box all day?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 10/01/2010 17:57

Hi Taluulah, can't imagine how much hard work it must be with 3! Good to see you though

We've made drop scones today and played with fuzzy felt, which Jamlet loves, and read loads of books, and done some sticking and learnt how to use scissors (well I already knew but you know what I mean ) She's had some "moments" though, but was cute when after telling her off for hitting the wall she came and said sorry to me and then gave the wall a hug and a kiss

Ria, hope all has gone well for you today.

Ohforfoxsake · 10/01/2010 20:12

Hey Tallulah, how are you doing? Good to hear things are OK. Is DH around or still travelling?

Sputnik · 10/01/2010 21:36

Good to see you Tbelle!
Sorry the DTs still arent sleeping through, my DS is going through a phase of waking at 4 in the morning. I thought the days of interrupted sleep were behind me by now. Anyway, hope the get the hang of it soon.

happynewRia · 11/01/2010 00:06

It has caused much amusement, but in my slightly odd state yesterday I misread he letter and it is up to 10 days, not weeks DH couldn't understand why I was so tizzy about it!

Today has been hell if I am honest. At 11am I had 3 cancellations due to weather, by 1.30pm they were all coming again (this includes Dsis's kids, BIL rangto see if they still could come as their alternative plans weren't going to happen), which mucked up the pass the parcel (as I heard DS1 explaining to his friend, I am, apparently, a bit soft/soppy and the middle layer of my PTP contains a small individual gift for each guest, rather than having one child - you know the one usually - getting the prize) My mistake was thinking my niece and DS1 would together equal anoher adult helper (DH being in the safety of work of course). DS1 did his best with his magic show, but DN was a bit wet TBH (and fancies DS1s friend), she spent a lot of time shrieking "oh god". The kids didn't seem interested in good old fashioned party games! The saving grace was the chocolate fountain. I will start saving immediately so Baggins can have his one party at a soft play place where all I have to do is hand over the cash!

Had a blast with the grandparents when they came round to eat up the leftovers (I cooked 100 sausages, of which there were about 12 left, and 50 sausage rolls - none left...there were 11 kids including baggins). They had wine (my Dad had 2 glasses - almost unheard of that early on) and played on the Wii - samba di amigos (with my new maracas) and Beatles rock band. Just a shame DH didn't get home before they left.

Raining here now

LackaDAISYcal · 11/01/2010 11:19

phew Ria...10 days is do-able!

back to normal school wise here, though the roads were clogged up with snow again this morning at rush hour. the pavements are hideous as well and I was really struggling with the pram this morning, but one of the local CMs took pity on me and offered to walk DS1 with her entourage

Aaaargh. I'm destined never again to MN other than snippets here and there. Warlier it was Dd trying to make microwave popcorn dragged me away and now bumble is just waking up from his nap. I give up!

happynewRia · 11/01/2010 12:37

DS1 is banished to his room today to tidy it, after the tippex/hoover incident yesterday

DH has gone to town to the town hall to try and sort out our council tax - despite making weekly phonecalls we have not had a revised bill since DH went back to work, and they seem to have lost our revised CT benefit form. It is causing me masses of stress, no doubt the outcome will not be good.

need to feed the boys I suppose, the rain is as miserable as the snow. Am not looking forward to the school run.
