lily - v organised!!! wine & Xmas i mean Hope M sleeps for you.

Gingeme - hope your mum is ok soon. sounds like you all have your hands full.

Nicky - it is so strange doing it the second time isn't it? you feel like you know stuff then other times you realise you've forgotten it, even though it wasn't that long ago!

H still teething too - very soggy t-shirts today.

No nods seen today, day 2 of steroids. could be good news, but still only about 6hrs awake i think.
can't decide if being awake and 'with it' for 2hrs would be as tiring as 2hrs with strange eeg, so he's honestly tired rather than brain-tired, if that makes sense?!?

mum cooked dinner, yum. now some csi with wine while jd works in his office.

we have decided on a short-term nanny - she's coming tomorrow to meet the boys properly, then should start on monday, for 2 full days and 2 half days.
just to try and get us through the next few months.
hope it works out.....

more phone calls with docs & hvs today, plus the SN HV dropped in with paperwork, every day is filled with something medical.
H stops one drug tomorrow though so that's one less thing to think about, yey

evening all

Busy day today: toddlers, beach and then met DH after school and to Pizza Hut for tea.

Wearing size 12 jeans today! Not been dieting but have basically cut out drinking as it doesn't agree with my ADs and results are very encouraging so far!

Lots of 4 and 5 am wakings here. I found one back molar ... 3 to go! A has a couple more words and some animal noises.

The book club thing I started but don't have the energy for sold WOW toys - they're great!

Simpson, the shame . I had a work function at St James' Park yesterday as well

did you enjoy your facial JKS!

Well as my dad has just retired my folks have sold their house and bought a "project" to do up 30 miles north of where they live now, but the nice thing is it is 1 mile outside of Southwold, don't know if anyone knows it but it is lovely!

LaTrucha · 02/10/2009 12:33

For some reason, I have just given Sabela all her Christmas presents bar one I think it just felt a bit silly to keep them in a cupboard in order to carry them all to my Dad's house at Christmas and then back again.

Having a lovely time! Knitted food is today's WOW toy.

Toy farm animals possibly a bit advanced but she does like carrying them up and down the living room one at a time.

Happy Christmas everyone!

LaT - PMSL!!! Happy Christmas to you too

Ange - we have 2 back molars that the tips came out months ago but are taking aaages to finish coming out. haven't had a feel for the last few days, hope to be pleasantly surprised that they're out.

Day 3 of steroids:

No nods seen today or yesterday

Still v sleepy and no signs of developmental progress....yet.

Finished the Trileptal now which is one less thing which is good.

Knackered after an afternoon at the farm with T. tv time then boys bed, then a yummy roast

simpson · 02/10/2009 19:03

JKS - at roast!! Fingers X for new meds!!

LaT & sabela - happy Xmas

If you want an idea for another Christmas present M is very into sweeping with a toy broom ATM.

Every muscle aches today as did curcuit training in keep fit...

M still hates being dropped off for creche though

JustKeepSwimming · 03/10/2009 20:29

Evening all - where is everyone?!

Simps - thanks the roast was lovely
Got parents in charge of tonights dinner too!

Well steroids seemed to be working, we had 2 clear days

but...he started nodding at teatime tonight & more at bedtime

things are cr*p tbh but have wine, will have choc in a mo, got to keep going.

How is everyone else?

Report
simpson · 03/10/2009 20:53

JKs - everyone watching X Factor/Strictly I guess....

Can they not combine the steroids with other drugs??

I was on V heavy dose of steroids about 8yrs ago and they only really worked when combined with other meds but it was not for epilepsy obviously.

Am going to carvery tomorrow so will get roast then

Getting lots of temper tantrums from J which I know is due to tiredness from school etc but is hard to deal with

Off to plow fields

Hey there Simps

T had meltdown today in the shops - over nothing, think he's tired too.
Hoping we can go back for the doctor's kit tomorrow....had to put it back on the shelf and leave today
(felt so mean but still had to do it)

H is already on other drugs, he's on Keppra & Vigabatrin + the steroids.

Watching strictly here too

Hi all

Hope everyone is having a nice relaxing day

Going to carvery in a bit so no cooking today

This trampoline I have bought is worth its weight in gold and Dcs play on it together for ages and give me peace and quiet to MN clean.

Does anyone know how Lucky is getting on??

Report
LaTrucha · 04/10/2009 15:11

We're having a lovely day, thankyou Simpson . I hope you enjoyed your lunch. Has the trampoline got a net?

JKS - sorry you got some nods after two positive days. It must make you feel very on edge. Hope you got the doctor's kit.

Gingeme - how's your mum?

Lilyloo - we haven't had any greta ebay bargain stories lateyl. Surely you must be doing Christmassy things?

My news of the day [LaTrucha runs round with a freshly tumble-dried pair of knickers on her head] WE HAVE A TUMBLE DRYER! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

I am currently tumbling things which could strictly be dried outside although it is a bit spitty with rain in a naughty celebration [makes mentla note to be responsible in future].

We decided to put it in the kitchen in the end and it seems to fit ok. The electrician wanted to charge £300 for putting a cable dwon an existing line. All the work has already been done - all it needs is connecting! . I think he didn't really want the job so was just trying his luck.

LaTrucha · 04/10/2009 17:51

What DO you say to your husband when he has yet again arrived home 15 minutes before dinner time and immediately given your DC a biscuit?

sigh

I really don't want to be a nag. Should I just let it go?

Report
nicky6 · 04/10/2009 20:25

LaT - nag -otherwise it will eventually drive you nuts. Say it to child not to dh Just say mmmm aren't you lucky biscuits before your dinner i hope you are still going to be hungry for all this nice dinner or some other slightly sarcastic coment.

Charlie really pushing boundaries and repeating back things i say to her which sometimes doesnt sound very nice - trying to think of more effective ways of telling her off - today she repeated saying re one of her toys put it back NOW, which is what i say after four hundred put it back pleases. unfortunatley beause of Noah sometimes i cant actually physically go and stop her doing things. oh well am sure it will get worse before it gets better.

Anyway dinner now and recorded strictly and x factor.

Report
JustKeepSwimming · 04/10/2009 20:26

LaT - i say nag tbh, but that might be just me. Routine is important, and messing with mealtimes pees me off. DH still does it sometimes though

We are both fed up tbh re H's nods

Simps - how was carvery? our trampoline is fab too!

parents go home tomorrow, nanny starts hope it all goes ok.

Oh and dh went back and got doctors kit today

Evening ladies.
Mum is at home at the mo with Dad. He rang to say shes being naughty and doing too much He is bringing her bac here on Wednesday so I can tell her off too
I treated myself to some realy nice jeans yesterday from Evans. 3 pairs that fit like a glove
George is saying loads of stuff all of a sudden. Momeee, naneeee, Dadeee ,bye bye , no, bus and car oh and cat mow
LaT DH does that to Edward in the morning. DH has a habit of eating a soft mint before he goes out the house ,he is an ex smoker, and started to give Edward one so every morning he has to have a sweet before pre school at bloody 9 am bloody creats like mad if I say no so then DH says oh its ok for now
Yum carvery Simpson
Oh JKS just when things were looking up on H's nods how has he been today?
We went to Smyths today to look for toys for Edwards birthday ,24th Oct, and there are so many wonderful toys in there. I suggested to DH we go next time he gets paid and buy the boys Christmas presants

Hi all

JKS - yes carvery was very yummy!!

What happens next re H's nods, is it surgery??

LaT - I would deffo say something. TBH H used to do it sometimes with crisps for J just before a meal and I used to do exactly what Nicky said and be a bit sarcastic. Cant remember if it worked though

Nicky - M also a handful TBH and copies things too. M's talking also very good which can be tough as she fires demands at me all day

Can't remember who asked about trampoline But yes it does have a net round it now, although for a few days the trampoline was up before the net iyswim so only J allowed on it to jump in the middle!!

Report
LaTrucha · 04/10/2009 21:27

I've asked him nicely. He sais yes. We'll see how long that lasts.

LaT i have a bundle all ready to list and sell before i buy but got M's wheelybug for xmas pff there , the large cow one for £35! at the tumble dryer , i have been using mine lot's with the rain but tried to dry some things on the line this weekend , tbh tumbler much easier

Simps we love our trampoline here too , as do all the neighbours dc's!!

JKS about the nods , bet it feels like nothing is going to help hopefully you will get there. Nanny starts tom ? Is she there with you ?

Ginge your mum sounds v independant!!! I nowhere near a Smyths but it looks to have some really good bargains!!

Nicky tricky days with Charlie , not sure it get's better just different problems

Ange i have cut out all wine mid week yet to see the difference , well done you!!

M eczema coming back steroids clear it up and within a week it's back Can't keep using steroids what to do !
She still struggling with her teeth too ? Up either through the night or at 5ish!!!!
V tired , dp been great and got up at 5 with her this weekend but then gone back to bed Sat and Sun afternoon to catch up so weekend spent at home Feeling like groundhog day her atm

Morning all

G- hope your mum is recovering properly. I love toy shopping

Simps - surgery is the only 'real' treatment for H, but even that may not solve everything, he seems to be so resistant to every form of treatment so far.

LaT - good luck....!

Lilyloo (liking the Halloween name, must get mine changed soon) - i've been quiet on ebay for a while now, may try a pre-Christmas clear out if i find the energy...
Bad news re M's eczema - i now you're not meant to keep using the steroids but can you try for a bit longer? maybe just not very much?

Nicky - x-posted before. They know whenever you are somehow unable to stop them and really push it IMO, just chill she'll be fine

Next steps re H:
PET scan in London 13th Oct
Meet surgeon & professor & EEG at GOSH 19th Oct
Still prov date for GOSH surgery in Nov sometime...

Nanny starts today! Plan is 8.30-12.30 Mon -Thurs to help cover pre-sch runs & give me freedom to go out if H stays sleepy, or to maybe take him out if he wakes up
And Tues & Wed afternoons too to let me & T go out. Hope it works out, I'm not that sure about having someone else around lots but have to learn to tell her what needs doing i guess....

right b-fast time - if i can peel T away from Mickey Mouse

Morning all.
Yes JKS I think I would find it hard to have someone round lots if your used to your own space and schedule like me. I find it a pain in the bum when DH has a day off let alone a complete stranger
Horrid rain here today Managed to do a bit of shopping though. Not much happening here today.
Hope your all well xxx

JKS - how did you get on with nanny??

I finally braved it and told J's teacher that we are going on holiday on 17th Oct (ie not half term)

I did play the sympathy card a bit (poor little me - single parent etc ) and it seemed to work

Well i think it went well....hope she did too.

She got T dressed & did both nappies
Came with me to pre-sch to meet the teachers
Emptied & reloaded dishwasher
Tidied all the toys
Put on a load of boys clothes to wash (think she was disappointed the machine is so slow that she didn't get to dry & iron them too!)
Made T's sandwich for his lunch
Went and got T from pre-sch
And generally H-sat while i went out and did stuff

She is here for the day on tues & wed so tomorrow afternoon T & I can go out while H sleeps.

Simps - well done! Where are you going?

G - yes rain here, looks like it will last all day.

H had big cluster of nods just now, so was only up just over an hour for lunchtime have phoned Gosh to let them know the steroids aren't working.

Report
simpson · 05/10/2009 16:05

JKS - love the halloween name

Sorry to hear about H's nods

We are going to Spain for a week, can't wait

Am going with both kids obviuosly and my brother.

The good news here is my mum is sending her cleaner here my way on Saturday for 4 hours as I struggle to keep on top of everything and look after kids

So hopefully the Simpson household will be sparkling on Sat
