Lily- it Was MrsMac. I remeber those photos well!

JKS - sorry to hear about the incident at the hospital. Do the boys seem to have been upset by it? Everything seems to be going forward ok. How are you feeling?

Gingeme - Mums not too friendly there then? I've been talking to a frined who lives on the south coast and mums there sound just dreadful. Really unfriendly and very competitive. Aber is a hippy/ university town so we don't get much of that. Glad you had someone to share a biscuit with!

MrsMc - both babies look beautiful, but I must say your'e going to have to watch that son of yours on the beaches in a few years time. He's going to be a looker! Is he settled down in the bed yet? Do you have the typical spanish tiled floor? Thanks for keeping an eye out.

Madmouse - I will post the photos of Nathan that I took soon. I promise!

Sabela was up for two hours last night. I'm not sure why. She 'said' it was teeth and I gave her calpol but when I asked her this morning she pointed to her teeth and then giggled and shook her head. So, everything's a bit grumpy today. We went swimming and tried her new flotation jacket (Have I mentioned she's amazing in the water?). I thought it would be easier to move in than waterwings. It was a disaster as she kept rolling round like a bobbing apple and got really grumpy. We went back to waterwings.

Hi all, finished at hosp, PET scan done no problems (well just a few of the usual to be expected beaurocratic cock-ups). Can't say enough good stuff about Evelina's (St Thomas' childrens hosp) if anyone ever goes there, it is fab

Aww thanks LaT!
(like the Halloween name btw, mine mutated from SlayingVampires to this after someone suggested it - i quite fancy myself as Buffy )

The boys didn't see anything of the scary incident as far as we are aware, thank goodness! we had to walk the same corridor today and we were both shuddering at the memory .

Hope S sleeps well for you tonight

Gingeme - did you get the boys to nap in the end? i'm amazed that E still naps, you are lucky! Wonder if G will drop his at the same time as E once he realises his big bro isn't going to bed???

Lily - 5? yuk, hate those mornings. I really want bunkbeds for the boys, at some point in the future, not sure when.
by this point T had been in a bed for months, H a looong way off that right now, which is easy as Mothercare don't make the same bed as T has anymore (grr) and i would prefer matching ones

MrsMc - we put a gate on T's door when he went into a bed, as he got up to allsorts at 'naptime'

Right, am home, with wine & a choc chip muffin (nice combo!), bit of tv, facebook & MN, then bed early.

Evening ladies.
Yes the boys did sleep in the end. Edward generaly goes to sleep for a good couple of hours after pre school as does George but the past couple of days they have realy been mucking about The three of them are real buggers at bed time now too. If it carries on much longer I think Im going to have to re think bed time.
Going out for a meal with my parents and my sister and her children. My nephew , her eldest, is in the rmy and has to go back to Afghanistan on Sunday I am going to take lots of pics and get DH to print them up for my nephew to take with him
My Mum is getting on my nerves now lots of reasons realy. I know shes poorly but thats one of the things thats annoying me is she can't help iykwim? Shell be here till 20th when she has an appt back at the fracture clininc. I just hope they discharge her so she can go home.
Oh sorry that was a bit me me me. I'll go now.

Hey ladies managed to double book two playdates today with Mums who don?t like each other ? whoops! Xavier only slept 30 mins all day; he was like a tired torpedo!

Lily ? my sister and I had bunk beds, probably from 3/4 years. We loved sharing a room so much and did it even when we could have had our own rooms. She is 2 years younger. Actually from 10 ? 14 years old I shared a room with both of my sisters and the youngest one is 9 years younger than me. Can?t believe M was up at 5am, exhausting! Thanks for your lovely comments about my photos; I can?t believe how blonde and curly X is either. You have a good memory; I did have a photo when about 36 weeks pg with X in front of a Christmas tree

Ginge ? re the birth: yeah, I was so calm; don?t know where it came from. It was a lovely moment just DH and I sitting there with Aaliyah, X asleep in his bed and the sound of the ambulance coming up the street! I know what you mean about no nap meaning hell to pay later! Hope you had a lovely family dinner. Sorry to hear about your Mum.

LaT ? you have a good memory too! thanks for the compliments, we are training Xavier to be a surf dude! we have marble floors throughout the flat but traditional tiles on the terrace. X is pretty good about going into his bed at night now but really kicks up a stink during the day. He really does still need daytime sleeps though or he is unbearable. Sorry to hear you were up in the night, so were we, X was crying out, I think his teeth are sore.

JKS ? how scary for you all, you have had a horrible time I am so sorry to hear that. I hope all goes very well next month. Aaliyah has had scans done of her head as she has some birthmarks (same as X had) and here they like to check them out to make sure there are no underlying lesions. Thankfully, the scans were clear. We have a gate on X?s room, he doesn?t mind the bed (actually quite likes it) but he hates the gate. Had to laugh at your evening, so like my own and I agree choc cake and wine don?t mix (especially white wine!)

How do you all discipline your toddlers? X does the same naughty things over and over again (he likes to get a rise out of me ? likes the attention especially if it takes me away from Aaliyah) I was using the playpen as a time out place for him which was working well as a deterrent but now need it for A so need another place to put him so we can both cool off. Would be really interested to hear how you all deal with bad behaviour and how you keep/regain your cool. Thanks

Usually ignore distrat but if it's something dangerous and I really want to get the message across I put her in the kitchen and close the door. There is a glass panel though so she can see me but she hates it.

Having said that, I do find, to my complete amazement, that after a stern 'no' or something, I can expalin why she's not to do something and it often works. We have a biting issue and within a day she knew not to do it (although sometimes she does lunge for me).

Also, yesterday, again to my amazement I thought I'd take the ignoring thing to another level, so when she started crying after some little silly thing, I looked very dramtically away from her. She stopped crying instantly! And then I praised etc...

I don't expect any of them will work for more than a short time!

And when she has tantrums, the best thing often to do is just to leave her. If she's like that, I just wind her up more by saying or doing things.

Sleeping seems back on track. Thanks everyone.

Ooo and I need a rant.... It's just a little thing but I hate it. It makes me feel awful.

As you may remember, I need hearing aids. I've only got one. I've been wearing it about a year. Today, I needed to go to the clinic because I'd lost it's little cleaning thing.

As usual, I'm the only one under 80 there and as usual the doctor came out and asked me if it was me or Sabela who was the patient. (Making me feel like a freak because it's more usual for a baby to be deaf than a woman of my age, apparently).

Then when he opened my chart which shows my eharing loss on the computer he did the SAME AS HE ALWAYS B**Y does, and takes a sharp intake of breath, as if to say, 'phew! That's bad!'

I know it's just a little thing but I don't find my hearing too much of a problem and every time I go there they make me feel like it's terrible and I'll soon be completely deaf. (They can't tell me if this is going to happen or not). There's always a comment or a tut or something to show me that my chart is strange and unusually bad and it REALLY WINDS ME UP!

I thank you for listening, ladies.

madmouse · 14/10/2009 14:11

LaT I never noticed your hearing loss and I am notoriously hard to understand for people with hearing problems so you can't be doing that badly - unless you were exhausted after our meeting from trying to understand me??

Re discipline, because Nathan finds a cross mummy so incredibly funny it can be hard. when he crawls over to get up to mischief I lift him by his clothes still face down and put him back on his mat. If I need to get him to understand I mean it I hold his only good hand - which he hates. But he laughs at everything else!!

Exactly my point Madmouse. I don't think my hearing's so bad and I hate it when they make me feel it it!

LaT Is it the same doc as well ? Mayeb next time have a quick comment for him ready! What about a sarcastic 'sorry didn't quite hear that '

JKS more wine tonight ? I luurve choc and wine , actually about to have a glass now but had choc earlier!

Gingeme i think it's always tough having people around for a period of time especially when they aren't well. Not helped by the boys playing up at sleeptime too i bet!

Oooh won't forget that pic Mmc i was so felt like a hefalump then
Hope my girls have tales to tell like that about sharing.
On the discipline front i just repeat no over and over again and try to be consistent (easier said than done i now)

Madmouse lol at Nathan laughing at you that does make things a bit harder

Where is Simps ? Hope she ok

Anyone spk to Lucky on fb ? Is she doing ok with pg ?

Well proud mummy emotion tonight. Just back from parents eve and two glowing reports At least i know they are behaving at school even if they testing me at home Poor H has come home today after going flying on the all weather pitch today and the side of his face looks like it has a large bruise/burn and a cigarette looking burn on his arm thank goodness he did it at school otherwise they would be reporting me
Also M sat down all the way through snack at toddlers today so extra

Hi all

Am busy packing, sorry not been on much.

LaT - I would be so J had to have yet another hearing test on Monday and they said his hearing bad in left ear but TBH i think it was because I was struggling to keep M quiet during test iyswim

JKS - M will be in a cot for at least another yr I think....

Mrs McJnr - yay!! How are you?? Love X's hair...so cool!!

On the discipline front M is quite a challenge shall we say but naughty step is working well. She only goes on it for really bad things like biting, kicking, hiting etc otherwise I just ignore tantrums and she now knows that.

Her new thing is to say "no thanks" to everything I ask her

Gingeme - fingers X for a good night tonight from the boys.

Madmouse - hope you are ok...love the pic of your friends LO and Nathan in shopping trolley, soooo cheeky LOL.

Lilyloo - I wonder what people must think of M TBH as she is always covered in bruises, bumps etc. She has refused to wear her boots for 3 days in a row and wanted her fifi trainers (that light up ) and her walking is much worse in them so will have to insist on boots tomorrow I think

Where is ange??

Lily - wine? if you're offering! actually i started before T went to bed

Simps - oi, go off on holiday will you?! you've caught up with me!!! i will have to work extra hard while you're away....
i agree though about the funny little arrows.

charlie issue is teeth. she only has six and i think the rest are considering making an appearance one little one through at the bottom now but her gums look very swollen.

Noah not sleeping so good - well wake up once a night - but his wind and reflux means he just doesnt take enough food to go through the night bless his heart - have been recommended new formula and teats to try so will try them and cross fingers onc they arrive.

ANyway maybe we should try a meet before christmas.

Thanks for all the discipline tips ladies maybe I need anger management classes what really drives me to distraction is when X copies A?s whining ? ggggrrrr!

LaT ? how annoying about the Drs sounds a bit like the drs here ? they love being dramatic, every time I had a scan the dr and midwife would suck in their breath and tell me A was going to be enormous, too big for my pelvis etc ? she was 3.8kgs!

Lily ? you deserve to feel proud of your boys I got a message from Lucky earlier. She seemed fine she?s 17 weeks pg now, lovely!

Hey Simpson where are you off to?

Hey JKS

Nicky ? many congrats on Noah how old is he now? How is Charlie with him? X is mad about his little sister, it?s so sweet.

I locked myself out of the house this morning for 2hrs

My mum drove round with spare key which would not work because my key was in the inside of the door iyswim.

Luckily a builder working on neighbouring house came to the rescue He took the letterbox off and I managed to squeeze my arm through and get key out. But now my arm is all bruised

Roll on holiday!!

Mrs Mc - going to Costa del Sol on Sat, cannot wait

Simpson ? you know I live on the Costa del Sol don?t you? It?s unseasonably hot at the moment. Which part are you going to? Sorry to hear you got locked out, horrible!

Lily ? that?s a great start to the Christmas fund I have tried to eBay from here but have not been very successful. Xavier has been a nightmare going down the last two nights, teeth and the fact that his Daddy is home sick and he knows something is different. Doesn?t help that Aaliyah, having slept through from 8 weeks is now up again at least twice a night and last night it was 3 times, exhausting.

Had to take the decision to postpone Aaliyah?s christening party this weekend. The christening itself is Sat night so we?ll go ahead with that but with DH being unwell, I just can?t pull a party for 40 odd off without more time to prepare

I am feeling decidedly queasy this morning as could not really be bothered to cook last night so opened pasta sauce jar from cupboard, ate most of it then looked at best before date: 31st Aug

Tummy not happy at all this morning
