I hope that this will do you all as the last thread ran out.

Let the fun and chocolate eating commence...

Gosh, is he already! Hazel isn't even 5 months yet but then of course she was one of the later April babies.

kazkiss · 19/09/2009 16:18

Hello my name is Kazkiss and i am a thumbsucker! Have been since i was four and probably will be till i am 80!

It never indicates i am hungry more so that i am tired or stressed. Izzie is exactly the same and she sucks her thumb in the same posistion ollie sucks his thumb completely differently.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 19/09/2009 16:19

Tell you what, if he keeps biting me while feeding he'll be completely weaned soon

He's teething his top teeth now

Holiday sounds lovely!

Feierabend · 19/09/2009 16:26

Baby sucking thumb because he's hungry? What utter rubbish. Frekkles, don't listen to the LLL lady. It's great that he's found a way to comfort himself. Did they find a bug in the end? Remember H had green nappies for almost 6 weeks although she didn't lose any weight with it. Hope he's feeling better.

H is so happy to be home. She's rolling around left right and centre on our carpet and trying to crawl. And leaving me to mumsnet

Feierabend · 19/09/2009 16:27

No teeth here, thank god.

BoffinMum · 19/09/2009 17:08

WFH, your child is a genius!! It's usually something like 10 months before they get the pincer grasp. DS2 was about 18 months!!! He would have starved to death!!!

Am I the only person here who is crap with slings???

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 19/09/2009 19:08

Ah, hasty posting, sorry Boff! I meant to say 'pincer grasp starting to develop' - he's a long way from picking up a raisin!

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 19/09/2009 19:21

Feeling very guilty as I was giving Orbit Calpol earlier, which he hates, so I tipped it in and kept the spoon in his mouth so he would swallow and not just dribble it all out of the sides, and he started choking

And then he coughed for ages and was inconsolable until I fed him.

BoffinMum · 19/09/2009 20:17

Try sellotape next time???
ONLY KIDDING!!!

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 19/09/2009 20:30

Meanie! I know, he's forgotten about it already, I just felt like such a bully.

BoffinMum · 19/09/2009 20:39

When will these babies learn that WE ARE IN CHARGE?????

bebemoo · 19/09/2009 20:48

Help me with ideas please.

bebemoo · 19/09/2009 20:58

Moo's a thumb sucker (I was until abt 21- then I really discovered the joys of whiskey ) she does it rather than chewing on her chew toys...definitely not because she's hungry.
We got 2 teeth and are sitting now.
We've also officially started weaning...Moo she had lunch with us today and loved the 'social interaction' I think more than the food.

Feierabend · 19/09/2009 21:06

Boff and others with eczema children. Do I need to be careful with weaning? Did your DCs turn out to have allergies as well? Trying to get my head round how to do it with H...

BoffinMum · 19/09/2009 21:56

DD is sensitive to alcohol but I didn't use that when weaning her

DS2 was sensitive to bio soap powder but then so is half the population probably.

No allergies. BTW have you tried the low dose steriod in vaseline plus bandages trick?

BoffinMum · 19/09/2009 21:56

Also perhaps keep house dust mite low, just to be on the safe side.

mrsgboring · 20/09/2009 04:33

morning all

bebemoo · 20/09/2009 10:09

morning
Why were you up at 4.30 Mrsgb?

Mommy has a fever and raspy throat this morning...thank goodness Dh is home yet...

AuldAlliance · 20/09/2009 13:37

hope you feel better soon, bebe

i left alex on the playmat while I hung up some washing; came back to find he'd slid over to my handbag, removed my cheque book and was eating it. thought i had a few weeks to go before this stuff began!

bebemoo · 20/09/2009 14:30

dear Auld... that's like when I was packing the bag with Meg in the center of the bed and I turned to get socks and when I turned back she had pulled herself to the suitcase and was pulling the clothes back out of it...

mrsgboring · 20/09/2009 16:14

Bebe, hope you're not feeling too pants.

I was up at 4am with Edmund as he gets to the point where he will refuse to feed in bed and makes too much noise (DS1 sneaks into our bed in the night and it's disaster if he's woken up then as he gets up too).

What with one or other of them, I don't generally sleep past half past five, and four is not unusual.

Slightly jealous of your mobile baby, Auld. I must be mad.

bebemoo · 20/09/2009 16:35

Gosh Mrsgb! Poor you. I cannot imagine. Moo refuses to sleep at nigh unless her last feed is dark and laying down...none of this cradle hold or the like...down in the middle of mommy's bed...
I took some paracetamol and feel a little better as the fever has stayed away. Throat is not good though. (must have been the way Moo was feeling during the week because, poor darling with a fractious mom not knowing what to do... )

Feierabend · 20/09/2009 19:42

Good evening. Bebemoo, sorry to hear you're not well. Sounds exactly like what we all had at the beginning of our holiday. DH had a temperature of 39C and a very sore throat, then DD1 got a temperature that lasted four days and I had a sore throat too. NHS Direct told us it was probably swine flu. But I am sure it wasn't. They think everything is swine flu nowadays, don't they?

Anyway hope you feel better soon.

We've just put the girls to bed. I used to feel relaxed and full of energy after a two week holiday. This time, although we did have a nice time, I just feel utterly exhausted and very worried about the winter ahead.

Oh well.

bebemoo · 20/09/2009 19:47

Thanks

Glad you enjoyed the holiday...Funny thing is every time we come back from a holiday or time away I think 'i love my bed and thank god she's sleeping again' (Moo doesn't sleep well when we're away)

bebemoo · 20/09/2009 19:49

Why are you worried about the winter?
