I hope that this will do you all as the last thread ran out.

Let the fun and chocolate eating commence...

oooh who's watching strictly - that Ricky's dance was yum x

BabyBolat · 03/10/2009 20:03

But now it's X factor o'clock x

Guimauve · 03/10/2009 22:21

Now, I only saw the end of Strictly, but how come that Rav got the boot so soon? The guy with the pecs usually stays in longer!

Schulte - try not to worry about that story on your thread - that sounds like an extreme case. A straightforward skin infection should clear up completely, no bother.

Just been watching True Blood, Nutty - I'll see your Sam Merlotte and raise you a Jason Stackhouse!

Why oh why does my child tease me so? How can he go from sleeping through one night to waking up three times the next and then FIVE TIMES the next??

Guimauve · 04/10/2009 12:07

Oh dear. I think that as of today we are entering the realm of 'No-Longer-Breast-Milk-Only-Poos' (sigh). It was nice while it lasted!

girlylala0807 · 04/10/2009 14:55

Hello all,

can I join back in...its been a while since ive been on. Combination of broken laptop, exam hell, and oh yea, a baby .

Ds is amazing. I love him. However he has still not slept through the night and is always full of energy. He started nursery last week when I started back at uni, 3rd year is going to be hard work!!!

Im going to have a read through some of the old threads when I get a chance. Life is hectic as im sure you all know.

Bicnod · 04/10/2009 18:57

Hey girlylala great to hear from you

Sleep is for wimps (is what I'm telling myself) - O has only ever slept through twice but I'm ever hopeful.

Woweeeeee - I'm so impressed with you and Springy doing uni work at the same time as looking after a short one. My brain is mush - I can barely remember my own name let alone write essays and revise for exams.

I've had a lovely day - full of friends, wine and cake. So that's the diet out the window for today... back on the wagon tomorrow.

Gui - the first non-breast milk poo is a shock isn't it... how can something so rancid come from something so cute?!

kazkiss · 04/10/2009 19:49

oooh dont scare me. i have got to finish my uni course when i get back to work! oooh scary.... shoudl have done more in my maternity leave before babies arrived.

Feierabend · 04/10/2009 19:52

Ladies!!!! I can't keep up. A whole MN free weekend means that I have completely lost the thread... Please don't post any more until I have caught up

Must watch Masterchef first though!

Guimauve · 04/10/2009 20:40

Don't worry Feier, it's been a pretty quiet weekend! How is H now?

frekkles · 04/10/2009 21:11

hello lasses. Sorry I've been awol again, been hanging out in the breastfeeding forum and worrying about my baby's nappies and weight loss stil. He's still losing weight and is not right. Think he might have cow's milk protein intolerance. Nay one got any experience?

Guimauve · 04/10/2009 21:43

Hey Frekkles, sorry you are still struggling with H's weight. I meant to post on your thread a couple of days ago but it went clean out of my head. I seem to recall Auld giving up dairy after A was born, and I think Springy also did.

Have you been back to the docs since the stool sample was clear?

AuldAlliance · 05/10/2009 07:54

ooooohhhhh God.
I don't know how many more nights like this I can take.
A is teething, very very grumpy and agitated, and I fear he has also caught the chest infection DS1 and I have.
It took 3 hours to get him to sleep last night: for 2 hours he was just irritable and cross, then he was knackered but every time he fell asleep (not on the boob, I might add), he'd wake up screaming shortly after. I finally got him to sleep by lying down on my bed, propped on pillows a bit, and laying him on his tummy on top of me. That was at 10:45pm.

He woke three times in the night. DH asked me this morning if it was 'normal' for a baby of nearly 6mths not to be sleeping through. I bit his head off , but can see that the great cc debate is about to begin. It's not that I think it's evil to do cc, it's just that I think at 6 months a baby is still very young. Or maybe I'm just a great big wuss.

Have a nice day, everyone! Will try and catch up once I have got some work done...

Bicnod · 05/10/2009 08:07

Hey Frekkles - how is H's sleep doing? Sorry you still have all the weight worries going on - I don't have any experience of intolerances but as Gui says think some of the others do.

Auld you poor thing that sounds like a hell of a night. I am with you on being a great big wuss - I couldn't do cc with O either.

Last night was the first night in ages Oscar didn't need calpol - I think we might be getting near the edge of the woods (not sure we're out yet) with this first (and most horrible) episode of teething. Anyone got any idea how to clean this damn tooth now its through?!

By the way - I don't know if anyone else worries about giving their baby painkillers but I spoke to the GP and the pharmacist about giving O calpol and nurofen as I was worried about giving it to him so frequently (but he was in so much pain with teething he could NOT settle without it, no matter what I did - tried bonjela, powders, distraction, extra feeds, cooled teething rings etc etc) and they both said the same thing - as long as you give it within the recommended limits (i.e. 5ml calpol not more than 4 times a day and 2.5ml nurofen not more than 3 times a day) then you can continue giving it to them for as long as they need it without any worries that it will harm them. Well Oscar was having far less than the maximum dosage - on a really really bad teething day he was having one or two doses at night and maybe one or two doses during the day - so I've stopped worrying about it. They also told me that calpol/nurofen don't make babies sleepy and if your baby sleeps after having it it is because the pain/being uncomfortable was stopping them from sleeping in the first place, not because the medicine made them sleepy - also reassuring I felt.

It really is a bit early for Halloween name changes.....

Guimuahahahahahaaaaaaa · 05/10/2009 08:15

...and I rarely post outside of here these days anyway....

Ghoulmauve · 05/10/2009 08:17

....but I do like a seasonal name!

Guimauve · 05/10/2009 08:24

Think I'll stick with the usual for now!

Auld - why does DH want to do cc? Is it because his sleep is disturbed, or because he's concerned about your lack of sleep? God, that makes it sound like I think he's a selfish arse, which is not what I mean. Just that if my DH started down that route, I'd say 'You're getting plenty of sleep, and I am prepared to put up with my lack of sleep, so what's the problem?'. However, I am not back at work, and I am still feeding to sleep and co-sleeping, both of which make my life easier at the moment, but may store up problems for later! Regardless, if it helps at all, my 6 month old is waking multiple times in the night, and will be for some time yet!

Hey Bicnod! Glad that this phase of teething seems to be coming to an end! Re: painkillers - I think of it as giving the baby what I'd be happy to take myself. I'd happily take regular paracetamol, but would use ibuprofen as more of a second-line if the paracetamol wasn't doing the job. The thing about Calpol knocking babies out is one of my annoying pharmacist bugbears! I have to keep telling DH that the only reason it helps them to sleep is because the pain is gone (BANG! And the pain is gone!)

Guimauve · 05/10/2009 08:30

Weaning going sort-of well here. Yesterday H smeared porridge all over the place had porridge for breakfast, had some bits of pitta with hummus on at lunch time, which was quite successful but caused a little bit of gagging, and also some roasted pepper that did not interest him much, and at dinner time he had some turkey curry! He had a bit of a chomp on a piece of turkey, but it shredded up a bit too easily (queue more gagging ). He seemed to like the bit of sauce he ate though, plus more apple and mascarpone for his pudding! This morning however, I decided I couldn't be bothered and just had my breakfast and he had milk ! That's fine for now, really, but what kind of mother can't be bothered to give her child breakfast

Feierabend · 05/10/2009 08:42

Hi, sorry not caught up yet, just wanted to say H's skin looking worse again. Gaaaaaah. And we're off to the GP in an hour but it's the idiot who misdiagnosed her as having eczema to start with. Double gah. I am thinking about heading straight to A&E if I am not happy with what he says. I am so fed up, I just want my baby fixed
