I am really rubbish at buying clothes lately. I never buy anything to match what I have.
I am a terrible impulse buyer too.

I would love someone to style me and tell me what suits my shape. Any volunteers?
Considering having my colours done when I have the spare cash.

sequinedsteaknife · 22/09/2009 19:42

me me me - I'll do it no1 Though be warned I don't think I understand current high street fashion. Our branch of Dotty Ps seems to think that what you really want to wear is a pair of porn star heels.

But that green dress is so pretty.

sequinedsteaknife · 22/09/2009 19:44

no1 that site has loverly coats on it.
I am loving this one.

sequinedsteaknife · 22/09/2009 19:46

ooh and they have a shop in BAth - near enough for a day trip but not too near to be dangerous. Nice.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/09/2009 19:47

OOH ooh I would love to be styled
I look a tramp, or feel a tramp atm.

very pretty coat that. I have far too many coats to count.
I just don't have any tops or anything casual.
I have lots of designer suit jackets and shoes, but I don't work anymore so need some direction.
Yes the dress is pretty, but even if it fit me, I wouldnt know how to wear it.
Far too pale to go bare leg, and hate showing my arms.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/09/2009 19:49

I always think a bit of a tan (or even white skin not blue like mine) then you can wear so much more. Or is it just me?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/09/2009 19:54

My friend who has twins same age as our babies and a 5 yr dd has gone to Aruba today.

I am thinking of her as I couldn't imagine a long flight with just ds never mind two the same age.

cyteen · 22/09/2009 19:57

no1 I'm just the same, awful at shopping, completely random, no idea what suits me or what I've got in my wardrobe that needs complementing.

Forgot to say, my friend who is carrying twins has found out they are identical and sharing a placenta [eek] Keep all your fingers crossed for her please, it's tricky!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/09/2009 19:58

Did I kill the thread with my randomness

sequinedsteaknife · 22/09/2009 19:58

pale and interesting - that's what I try and channel in the winter.

ARuba ashmooba - staycationing is where it is at.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/09/2009 20:00

fingers crossed for her cyteen can be very scary indeed.

I have just put some clothes on ebay.
Monsoon and coast. Worn once. I am terrible.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/09/2009 20:04

I am trying to decide on a holiday for next year.
Dh has said we can go anywhere in the world, but then said, I am not doing a long flight with our two, and bit bored on beach holidays.

I am thinking All inclusive or Villa or Med cruise.

Villa because own pool, home from home environment etc...
All inclusive because I can eat eat eat have a break from the constant feeding cleaning 3 times a day and more.

sequinedsteaknife · 22/09/2009 20:05

On my sewing forum Sewing With a Plan is very popular - it is wardrobing for sewers.

Put simply you start with four bottoms and six tops that go with all the bottoms and one jacket/jumper/wrap that goes with everything else and voila you have 48 outfits.

What I try and do when I shop is to think - does it go with at least two other things in my wardrobe - not counting jeans.

And a great standby is layering pretty shirts and cardis over spaghetti strap tops.

no1 sounds like the next time you shop for casual trousers or a skirt you should make sure they go with at least two of your jackets so that you get more wear out of them.
Wide leg Marlene pants are always tres chic - look good in tweedy fabrics for winter.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/09/2009 20:07

Cruise because we are not really sun bathers (although the thought of it with a good book, now sounds like heaven)
Also not being in the same place should keep dh happy.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/09/2009 20:09

dH is calling and has red wine for me and a film to watch, night ladies.

Steaky i will be after more advise tomorow, may even be brave and put up a pic of my shape and see what ya think.

oopsacoconut · 22/09/2009 20:11

Cyteen - keeping everything crossed for your friend.

I got a phonecall very early this morning from the endocrinologist saying he needed to see me today because he had got my message about being pregnant. I spent the day freaking totally a little and it all turns out it's all okay I have a slightly higher risk of m/c but not significantly. I have got urgent blood tests tomorrow morning so my levels can be monitored from a starting level. He has referred me to the local encrinology/obstetric clinic which means I am classed as high risk and won't have my much wanted homebirth/birth centre birth but as long as everything is okay I am not fussed.

DD stayed with DH when I went over to Bath and he did dinner and sorting out for bed and I got here just intime to put DD down. They had a fantastic time and DH even managed to get the bottle sorted. So after todays dry run they are on their own tomorrow

On the clothes front I have no idea about them at all. I find something that fits, looks reasonable and I buy it in every colour and then wear it to death.

Steaky - come join us in Bath for lunch one day.

Back in a bit going to run a bath.

sequinedsteaknife · 22/09/2009 20:29

oops definately a day in Bath - it is one of my fave places to visit and now I have even more reason.

And everyone is welcome anytime they are around the Exeter area. It has fahancy shops now - an old friend was very that Exeter has a Hobbs now.

no1 go on go on go on, be brave. Whatever you go for the most important thing is fit. Forget the number on the label, different shops use different measurements anyway. Going up or down a size to get a good fit is usually more flattering than sticking to what you think is your size and ending up bursting out of something or having it swamp you.

dizzydixies · 22/09/2009 20:42

oh FFS I'm crying at Neighbours - something has to change

cyteen · 22/09/2009 20:43

You're not pregnant are you dizzy?

oopsacoconut · 22/09/2009 20:46

Dizzy - will you be joining me in a May baby?

LoveBuckets · 22/09/2009 20:57

Oops Sorry about your homebirth going up the swannee

No1* Cherry dress to wear as top. I would wear that dress over calf-length leggings myself. To casual-ify a suit jacket try it with scruffy jeans or a mega long skirt and boots (think slightly gothy Edwardian lady off to the stables). Colourwise, what colour do you know makes you look great and gets attention?

Steaky Beds are really overrated. Enjoy the student vibe for a bit til the novelty wears off.

Lordy, to add to all hobbies ad commitments, DH is now starting up a Black Sabbath covers band, can hear the bassline of Paranoid coming from below. Says it's only temporary to help a mate and will quit once they are in a condition to find a replacement.

I have been having a whale of a time tonight coming up with a fait accompli new business venture for my burlesquing-body-piercing-glamourous friend (and childminder!) She is quite excited already! The concept: a cross dresser styling/dress-up/pamper day service and to host a regular tranny club night and burlesque cabaret at a gay bar. Have been researching and it is big business in the New Forest but no regular thing in central Southampton. Have even found her a flat down the road to rent as a discreet 'salon' so she could potter home on foot at night! Her mate is a Virgin Vie consultant so she could do the make up and sell products to vulnerable blokes .
So, anyone else need some lifecoaching?

sequinedsteaknife · 22/09/2009 21:13

Buckets mattress on the floor is excellent for flumping around with DD in the morning. She just crawls all over me and it doesn't matter if she rolls off the edge. Love it so yes perhaps bedframes are overrated.

Your friend could also rent out a room for cross-dressing gentlemen to get ready in before their night out. Someone who I used to know used to know someone who did this. (?)

StrictlySazz · 22/09/2009 21:16

LOL at your burlesque business buckets . PIL live in the New Forest so goodness knows what they are up to . Perhaps running a B&B is just a cover for something more interesting

Busy day here trying to find some storage and kiddy table and chairs. Failed on both counts . This evening i have been mending trigsaws (multi layer jigsaws) which DH managed to knock over

DH has had his small op and is being very brave . Arnica tablets taken, hopefully minimising the bruising over the next few days

oops great news that you are being given all the best treatment but for your homebirth plans. I was a high risk case with DD1 and i can honestly say i couldn;t have had more or better attention and treatment

I am avoiding buying clothes atm and trying to just redicover items in my wardrobe which have not fitted for the last 5 years . I must buy some socks though as they all seem to have big holes in them

LOTI great news on the job opportunity - go for it, you don't have to accept it if it doesn't 'feel right' but good to get back out there

steaky sorry to hear of your money worries - but take a step back and look at all that you HAVE achieved in the last couple of months. A few wibbles are bound to happen, but i'm sure you will ride through them very soon

dizz FFS why are you watching Neighbours?

hotterpotter · 22/09/2009 21:21

Evening all

I agree with Sazz Dizzy, what are you doing watching Neighbours? At 8.42pm don't say you Sky+ it
