Morning all,

oops sorry to hear of disturbed nights, but adding my bizarre joy at your news of sickness and meganorks

VG I am larfing and arfing at your turn of phrase, as usual. Don't feel too bad about DS2's bedroom being under construction, at least it's his yours to do as you like with - poor old J is stuck in a textured-wallpaper box with those peel off stickers on it, the curse of renting.

dizzy totally agree with VG. Get the slap out, step into some dizzying heels and you will feel fabulous. I've noticed the out-of-practice effect as far as putting going out clothes together is concerned - had a real wibble about my outfit for last Saturday and had to text my friend at 8am saying 'I am having a shoe crisis' These things used to come so naturally. Well, kind of.

Sorry to post and run, am off into town with my boy as the sun is shining. DS did the most spectacular faceplant this morning, off the bathroom step and onto his cheek, landing in an incredible breakdance pose that, had I been a more callous parent, I would have taken a picture of. As it was he seems fine after some mummy cuddling; am expecting a cracker of a bruise to come up by tomorrow though, just in time for nursery Arnica is on my shopping list for this afternoon And perhaps it will help him understand why we keep turning him backwards to get down off things [not hopeful emoticon]

LoveBuckets · 22/09/2009 12:06

Oh I long to visit all the volcanic bits of the Med, there's just something magical about it all. You do realise that maybe not next summer but the one after, we could go on holiday together with just our Aug08 boys and girls? No cots, no pushchairs, no huge carseats, less-ish hassle on planes...

Some gorgeous bargain dresses/tunics here. Bare in mind I think I am a large in their sizes at Size 14 with 34E bust.

Dizzy Just remember you are a v stylish lady (I know this from all the links you do for us and the odd FB pic that pops up before you de-tag it) so there will always be someone who looks worse than you LOL.

luckoftheirish · 22/09/2009 12:33

Holiday????? runs off to pack a bag... i'm all over it like a cheap suit as dh would say .. it would be amazing...

Took dd2 to nursery time this am and another complete nightmare ,she just wants to run off and explore the library not sit quietly, the lady who runs was not impressed by her sreams for down.. hey ho...

ek, seen a job I'm thinking of applying for but its full time!!!!! so not sure... HOWEVER,my dh who you all know is completely crap, said he would do all drop off and collecting of dds and feed dd2 her tea every day!!!!!! that in itself is worth a look, tho not really sure if i'm ready to give up dd2 every day.. ho hum..

Anyway have to wrap dd1 presents, blow up ballons etc i preparation for b-day tom and dad is flyig over from home so catch u all later xxx

Hey LOTI, best thing to do in that library situation is just leave your pushchair in the kids' area and potter about after her at a leisurely pace, she'll settle down once she's had the full explore. And don't forget there'll be signs everywhere saying 'Libraries Love Babies!' so if anyone complains, point them to a sign.
Exciting news on job front, might be worth phoning them to see if it is worth applying for it part time on the offchance of a jobshare coming up - they might have some internal applicants who'd like to do it p/t.

I think I'm going to have to order that cherry bustier dress from my Uttam link. It is just too too cute and would look fab with jeans, cardi and boots in winter. Would also be ideal for if I ever get off my arse to do burlesque classes (have already thought up my 'Burlesque name'see: Cherry Maltese .

hello my dears, just skim read as popping on at work, cant remember a thing but what is this about xmas meet up, details please...

loti you may surprise yourself and find you enjoy work, i am surprised at how much more relaxing it is than being at home and I have more energy inth e evenings due to not running around after a 1 year old and preparing 3 meals +

dp and i need a holiday - does anyone have any ideas for a cheapish uk autumn break with accommodation suitable for a 1 year old...???

back to the grind...

LoveBuckets · 22/09/2009 14:39

VG Nope, have decided I prefer the plain old WH Smiths family organisers after all!

Dress ordered, now I need to buy those jeans, cardi and boots.

cyteen · 22/09/2009 15:21

loti I would apply for the job anyway, even if you don't want it. They say even someone who is happy in their work should apply for one or two jobs a year, just to keep their hand in and remind themselves of why they're employable/what they want in a job.

Interesting that your DH has been so forward in offering his services - has he been feeling a bit burdened down with wage-earning responsibility, do you think?

miamla · 22/09/2009 15:48

arse! taken so long to catchup that i've a) forgotten everything b) run out of time!

sorry to hi and not even bye last night, mil needed entertaining! i'm actually quite surprised at how relaxing it is with her here. i'm now wondering if in fact its fil that causes the tension
anyhow vg in answer to your question...
i've got some questions first...
when was your machine working last? has it been moved about/knocked since it was working?
if it was working recently, was it with this bobbin of thread (the thread in the bottom) or a different reel?

things to try...
find another bobbin and try sewing with that

if that doesn't work either it could be your tension. what machine have you got? (make and model please)

are you using the same type of thread for the top thread as well as on the bobbin? even if same colour, if its different, it will cause problems with your stitching

have you tried taking the bobbin out and putting it back in again? it could be that the machine isn't threaded right. might be worth taking the top thread off as well and starting again. whilst you've got the bobbin out, have a look in the compartment to check no bits of fluff in there

have a look at the thread on the bobbin, does it look like its wound correctly? it should be reasonably tight so if you prod it with a fingernail and it goes in, it might be too loose (or do i mean lose?!)

i'm logging off now but give me a call if this doesn't make sense! i'll try and pop back on later to check how you're getting on

hey,

hope you got your sewing machine sorted vg .. didn't understand a word u said tho ..

Thanks for all the good vibes re job.. waiting to hear, but am now thinking that cyteen you were right re dh feeling the burden of being main breadwinner.. as i have said before he runs his own bus. which in itself is stressful enough particularly in these times, so feeling every so slightly guilty for dissing him so much..

Anyway tonight is wrapping and balloon blowing, followed by some rug making and a big rose spiritizer... anyone wanna join in?!

lol vg sounds like you need it

sequinedsteaknife · 22/09/2009 18:58

EVening ladies.

VG did you sort out your machine okay?

I just did a search on ebay and someone local is selling a v similar bedframe to that wooden one I found yesterday, but it is a kingsize and my mattress is a standard.

What should I do?

Fooked up on my bank account and direct debits so was five pounds over my overdraft - so had to cancel the phone and pay it by card tomorrow so as not to be charge 20 by the bank.

Gah - I hate being this disorganised. Phoned up housing benefit people and sounded pathetic at the bloke so he pulled out my form and put it on the urgent pile.

Oh it is such a nightmare at the moment. I have my head in the sand a bit. When it all comes through I know I will be organised and manage fine, but until then it is doing my noodle in.

[confuzzled]

luckoftheirish · 22/09/2009 19:04

chin up steaky... passes the wine

sequinedsteaknife · 22/09/2009 19:06

Thanks LOTI feeling pretty weepy today. Mum had DD this morning and I realised how tired I was.

Though I have hidied all the boxes into the attic and even unpacked a few of them too. So some progress.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/09/2009 19:09

Hi ladies.

vg had to lol at your posts today.
When the tangled mess happens to me I take out both spools and rethread as miamla suggested.
My mum always tells me to watch the tension too.
Hope you sorted it.

lucky hope the birthday goes well tomorow and goood luck on the job front whatever you decide.
cyteen hope Ds face is ok, poor thing. We also do the turn round thing, and to my amazement ds did it today to get off the sofa.

sambo hi, hope you and dp are ok.

dizzy hope all the bugs are nearly gone, and you are all feeling better. I agree re killer heels. I had a wobble on Saturday and had to phone my friens to ask what everyone wore out these days.
I stuck to my ever faithful black corset and black jeans and high heels in the end.
3 hours round shops and I found nothing that grabbed me.

sazz I loved that corset top you linked to.

buckets which cherry top do you speak of it sounds lovely.
I got this Hawww.uttamdirect.com/item.php?code=SS54thispage
dh said I would never wear it and I hate to say it but he was right. I have no idea what to wear it with and it is now too big.
[waste of money]

hotter hope all is well how many sleeps till holiday?

hi pertelote hope you are all well too.

cc looking forward to seeing pics of the christening.

cyteen · 22/09/2009 19:21

Buckets yes indeed I have, and I'm trying not to look at least until payday.

no1 I bet you looked fab in your all black outfit I really like that green dress, what size is it? If it's my size I'll be happy to buy it off you

steaky welcome home Of course you are tired, you have been moving and parenting and adjusting, all that stuff is exhausting and requires frequent injections of wine to fuel the process. Your day at the beach with DD sounded lovely.

VG hope you're not actually being entangled Borg-style in the threads of your machine by now DS is okay, thanks, and has been arnica'd to within an inch of his life.

Sorted out my counselling situation today so am back on the waiting list (which is fine), also spoke to university who as expected had sent my registration letter to my old address [rolls eyes to heaven] so am apparently getting a copy in the post pronto.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/09/2009 19:26

cyteen I think the dress just states Medium,I will go check.
It is gorgeous, it has flecks of gold in it too.
I bought it before my boobs shrunk and never got round to wearing it, and it just doesnt look/fit right now.

Glad you got the counselling sorted too.
