Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh God, finding chances to get clean with three small children about is nearly impossible.

I have a hideous cough at the minute and while I was choking this morning I had two people asking me to do things for them immediately. Gah.

Charmed absolutely by DS1's spirited defence of DD2's motor skills, VG. What a lovely brother.

hotterpotter · 21/09/2009 18:09

Red for your cough, hope you are feeling better soon

VG I think the blackout lining will be fine unhemmed - sounds like the stuff we have which is not hemmed or even sewn in the curtains but is still fine after nearly 4 years. Don't think your curtain tape cutting plan will work though. Don't you have enough?

We have had stuffed marrow for our tea, with a marrow that grew triffid-like in the border from some inadequately seasoned compost and it was absolutely delicious Very harvest-festivally of us (apart from DD who thought the marrow was yucky but ate all the meaty filling )

sequinedsteaknife · 21/09/2009 18:37

VG yes you can leave the blackout unhemmed - probably best as it lets the light in through the stitching holes if it is the slightly rubbery stuff

Don't know about the heading tape, but if it works then do it. I don't expect anyone will come around and inspect it and tell you off.

Right off to unearth some wine as my stuff has arrived from France - tis not a tidy house.

UpTheRebelLentils · 21/09/2009 18:38

Stuffed marrow at my grandad's house.
You have brought back happy memories hots.

The cough is getting better but I'm still being scolded about it by all the other school gate mums.

I'm off out to chair the playgroup's committee meeting tonight.

How to pitch it so that people don't shout 'The British are coming!' and not in a good way.

Thanks for the football commiserations VG. Our day will come and all that.

ah feck I've a night out on Fri - I've an ulcer on my tongue, a split horrid lip and am too fat for anything nice to wear - why oh why oh why did I agree to go [idiot emoticon]

sequinedsteaknife · 21/09/2009 19:48

ooh I don't think i can hang out with you --stinky- naturl ladies. I had a shower this morning, blow dried my hair and had a full, but not too full, face on. Before you all stop talking to me, please know that the whole effect was spoiled by the ill-fitting, only wear in emergencies, white nursing bra a-shining out from under my black top.

I may not be stinky but my laundry pile is.

Right back to them thar boxes.....

sequinedsteaknife · 21/09/2009 19:49

oh good grief. Now I can't type on an English keyboard.

splutter, gah, grrr

LoveBuckets · 21/09/2009 19:56

Dizzy Could it be that you are doing too much and getting run down? You don't want to start getting boils in your armpits.

VG How important is the pleat-hang-thing to you? You could avoid rings and hooks altogether by sewing the top of the blackout fabric on to the back of the curtain, then folding or sewing on some scrap fabric along the top to make a channel. Thread pole through channel. Not as smart but poss more black-outy in fact. How many people see DS2's room anyway?

Red Hope you managed to sneak off home early from your meeting.

My, I am in Idler mode tonight, eh? Bath is run but have been pfaffing about (love that spelling thanks Albs) for half an hour. I'm going, I'm going...

sequinedsteaknife · 21/09/2009 20:00

I would love to be pfaffing - pfaff make the bestest sewing machines.

StrictlySazz · 21/09/2009 20:01

VG - also like Buckets suggestion, could you sew the blackout lining to the curtain and then stitch the tab to this? {disclaimer: i am crap at all things crafty except cushions)

dizz how about black wide leg trousers and a sparkly/loose chiffony top? Where are you off to?

red hope you make it through the meeting and have a chance for some R&R tomorrow

PS: i have had a shower this morning

dizzydixies · 21/09/2009 20:13

buckets - agree completely, I had horrid lurgy on Fri after a late shift and back to work on Sat again, that and all 3 have horrid snotters/coughs and tag team sleeping issues so am completely pooped - am just holding off to Nov!

speaking of which VG am now of you being in London over those dates check this out as a Christmas freak I would be in heaven

sazz its one of my best friends leaving dos - he's ABANDONING me to go and work at the police college (selfish git) and he is DD2's godfather, we have a babysitter and DH is keen they're all going out at 6pm for some 'food' then on to a bar so we'll be catching up with them once the kids are down

am also taking DD1 and DD2 and a friend of ours to see Beauty and the Beast at the Edinburgh Playhouse on Sat and DH and I are going to see Billy Connolly on Sat night - considering we never get out its all happening at once [meep]

another stinker who hasn't been near a shower today either, in my defence I was in one yesterday

TwilightSurfer · 21/09/2009 20:24

Red I am so sorry to hear you have a cough. I'm a fan of schnapps when I have a cough. NOT that I'm pushing booze on anyone, just seems kinder than cough syrup.

I need the hand holding. The other carpool mom just called. She's in line but hasn't gotten the girls yet (20 minutes past my pickup time). She needs to run to the bank and wondered if it would be okay to take dd1 with her (and her kids). She would get them an icecream along the way. I said fine, of course. As if I could say anything else without sounding like a total B. Hopefully dd1 will see this as an adventure and be happy once she gets home. Meanwhile, I'm going to sit and worry because we've got flooding of roads in every direction and I've no idea which way they will go. Have I mentioned this is only the 2nd time dd1 has ever riden with someone other than her father or ME.

TwilightSurfer · 21/09/2009 20:26

BTW Dizzy, I don't smell you. Bathing every other day doesn't count. I did however shower earlier and smell very nice now but must note on my list of lists that I need to purchase more deoderant.

StrictlySazz · 21/09/2009 20:36

Ooh TS we'll sit here and hold hands with you . Everything WILL be fine and i'm sure DD1 will make some wonderfully ascerbic comments about the event . She does sound a tad ditsy though

Right dizz you can wear jeans with heels and a bit more of a dressy top. Make sure you accessorise with a nice 'big' necklace, a bit of slap and you'll be good to go

miamla · 21/09/2009 20:38

evening ladies

dizzydixies · 21/09/2009 20:39

right, where the feck is this top?!?!? the girl wearing the purple top with dresses and tunics written over the front of it it would do fine

sazz am having my badlyneeded hair done on Fri afternoon so that will help

TS am sure she will be fine and return home safe and well full of stories about ice cream

OP posts:
dizzydixies · 21/09/2009 20:45

no I thought that too but if you'll notice the purple one is a tad lower cut which should help draw the eye - and hark at me moaning about Ola earlier one

how are you tonight Oops?

dizzydixies · 21/09/2009 20:47
