Make new friends but keep the old,
One is silver and the other gold.

I have something in my pocket that belongs across my face.
I keep it very close to me in the most convenient place.
I'm sure you would not guess it if you guessed a long long while.
So I'll take it out and put it on it's a great big Brownie smile.

LOL! So do you all think I'm a total geek now. I was REALLY into scouts as a youth.

Okay somebody calm me please. Tomorrow is DD1's first carpool day with the other mother driving. I've been doing all the driving up till now. She's not a very punctual person. As a matter of fact she even laughs about her tardiness. DH commented that he was concerned because tardiness isn't acceptable at school. I always pick her daughter up at 7:45am and have her dropped at school by 7:58am. They are late as of 8:10am. I'm also one of the first five cars to pick up in the afternoon. The other mother told me on the phone just now to make sure I tell dd1 not to worry that she'd be in the line to pick them up eventually. The other mother also has a scheduling conflict on Tuesday which could cause her to be very late. I offered to do the run that day and she said I'd driven so much already. Well I'm here to do the driving...She works. Very nervous because DD1 is an anxious child. I guess we shall see.

hotterpotter · 21/09/2009 07:13

Sorry TS I LOLed a little bit at your for DD1 being an anxious child after your mini rant about the other mother. I wonder where she gets it from I hope it all goes well for her today but we will be here to hold your hand while you wait for her to be delivered safely home

I never got to be in the brownies as a brownie. We moved around a bit when we were kids so I never managed to get to the top of a waiting list. I tried guides for a few weeks but it was boring. My mum used to go and help out with the brownie pack in the last place we lived and she ended up as Brown Owl so I was co-opted in at 16 as a Young Leader I ad a fetching mint green shirt and a stupid hat, and the brownies called me Badger was good fun actually

StrictlySazz · 21/09/2009 08:59

I was a Brownie (pixie), Guide (Snowdrop) and Venture Scout (mixed sex group) but in my defence of being goodie two shoes, there was bugger all else to do living in a small village. Also Ventures was fab as we used to just go to the cinema, bowling, ice skating etc on weekly meetings (older ones could drive) and then we went on hiking/camping expeditions 3 times a year. Great memories especially of first boyfriend called Steve

TS DD1 will be absolutely fine, her friend will be well used to her mother not necessarily being bang on time and won't be fazed by it at all. I would be peed off though if your DD1 gets late marks because of it - that is not fair.

Well after me praising dh for going to tend to dd2 last night.. he lasted all of 10 mins before giving up.. she woke up twice in the night and muggins got and both up at 6am ... tried gently talking to him this am about me always getting up and does never think i might need a lie in.. he said "i'm always asleep when the dds wake up".. dd2 split water on her top this am, he told me about three times until i finally said, if its wet why tell me, why don't u go and get a fresh one... queue massive rant and he stormed off off to work ...

Morning all,

Had the most fun time at the weekend, visiting my best friend for her birthday shenanigans. Jive party was ACE, just so fantastic - the music, the dancing, the outfits, everything. Had much hilarity with enthusiastic but amateur dancing, plus I got taken round the floor a few times by one of the proper professional types there which was amazing despite my drunken feet. Also randomly saw my ex-boyfriend who was there with his wife and some friends I haven't seen for ages, so had a good chat with them; even more bizarrely, a university friend I was hoping to see on Sunday was at the jive night too, so had lots of fun with her

DP had less fun, his back went out just as I left the house so he had to wrangle a toddler while going OWWWWW at every opportunity.

oopsacoconut · 21/09/2009 10:49

Morning All

DD had the night from hell last night - the most enormous temper tantrum at one point, I gave her calpol, stroked her, tried to cuddle her fed her, and she just lay in her cot yelling 'MAMA UP, MAMA UP' mixed in with bouts of thumping her feet on the cot. Eventually after nearly 2 hours I got her back to sleep and she did that post crying whimpering until 6am when she came to bed with us. She wanted in our bed and I was having none of it until the regular 6am!

Fantastic morning yesterday with Sazz and the minisazzles' and VG and her very grown up Gardeniaboy. DD did her best to charm him by yelling is name at random moments. VG is as lovely as her posts and We might have to make plans for a Irish meet.

We are waiting for friends to arrive but one of them fell down the stairs coming out her house and is currently in an ambulance so the others are waiting for her DH then will being all 6 (under 3) kids here

I might be back later then again I might be in a mental hospital

oooh oooh and am seeing the midwife on the 30th who is 'unsure' of my date so is organising a dating scan for me. She is lovely and knows I am likely to panic so has jigged the system for me.

Oh TS I hear your pain. I too am petrified of letting people down, esp kids, so I get really annoyed with regularly unpunctual people. Fair enough we all have crazy days and bad luck but it's like they think its cute and kooky but it actually shows incredible selfishness. There's no way she'd get the message, she will be too thickskinned to take in anything but compliments.

Cyteen V of your dancing night. It is amazing being thrown about by a professional isn't it, you really start to believe you're a natural!

LOTI he is so detached isn't he? I hate it when my DH makes me feel like me and my kids are out to ruin his life. A very rare from me.

Wow, my week is filling up already so making the most of lazy morning. Friends to tea tonight, Town with my mum tomorrow am, Ikea to chat with kitchen planners Wed, Macmillan coffee morning Thurs. School has pulled a suprise Inset day this Friday, many people very , might attempt a Marwell zoo trip weather permitting.

alittlebitshy · 21/09/2009 13:23
