Thought I'd start a new thread as as soon as evie pops we're bound to fill it hugely and some of us have phones to work with!

OP posts:

Jfly and DP-Have you done this one yet?

If I spontaneously combust, am reported missing or just melt into a puddle on the floor it is because of my sheer exhaustion with the medical system. Poor old P has been very ill for nearly two weeks now and I have been sneered at, patronised and made to feel like I am mad.
Apparently (TMI, sorry ladies) having rank liquid poo POURING out of your child when he has passed out from 2 weeks of D+V to the point where it doesn't even wake him anymore despite me being able to HEAR IT FROM THE NEXT ROOM is totally normal and doesn't warrant samples being sent or any sort of medical care. I have been up for so long now making sure that the poor boy doesn't dessicate that I think I may never sleep again.
Rant over. Am going to battle hospital again once he has woken up. I wish I could have a drink.

Dontpanic · 07/10/2009 12:31

wow bumpy, are they not even concerned about dehydration or are you doing that all on your own too? I'll send some woo-woo, though not sure it's working properly at the moment as I'm fixing myself too.

thanks for the link, never quite know what to do with them as I don't tend to use myself (ie I forget and just use google!) so will have to look into a bit more thoroughly.

Me & Jfly are going to put up a joint thread in the charity section, any suggestions for content apart from give-us-money-here? (Unless I've missed it and Jfly's already set the thread up without me noticing!)

merryberry · 07/10/2009 15:08

i'm fucking mad with her hospital. she's a 1st time mum, so they fob her off, there-there. no bloods taken to check how his liver and kidneys are coping. no stool sample requested to see if he has one of the nasty stomach bugs. and no tlc or respect for her, and its not like she's hiding her bump at what, near 8 months? i hope she's down there insisting on proper investigation right now. this is clearly not self-limiting illness and if she thinks there's something proper not right they should sodding respect her opinion. grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

bumpyandfrumpy · 07/10/2009 16:33

"Mrs BAF, it's just a virus...you had better get used to it as kids DO get these things."
"We do not treat under fives with diarrhea, only rehydrate if they need it and you are doing a sterling job of forcing him to drink."
"He hasn't had it for long enough to be a concern...come back after it HAS been two weeks."
"We cannot run tests on every child who comes in here with a bad tummy, can we?"
"This is what happens when you send your child to nursey, I'm afraid."

Seriously...how bad would one vodka be at this point? Probably much less harm than if I get this bloody thing. My hands are cracking from washing, my house reeks of Dettol, I have not seen another human being exept HPs in nearly two weeks. (Have seen DH...but I said humans...)

merryberry · 07/10/2009 17:03

have half a bottle of red wine woman, if you can manage it! you're 3 days off it being medically classified as 'persistent'. poor, poor P and you. what a nightmare. fwiw, i'm sure was taught in my masters that while rotavirus is the cause of most cases of acute diarrhea, it's not usualy responsible for persistent diarrhea, not even in developing countries. i'm pretty sure it stops after about 8 days usually. >goes and looks up

bumpyandfrumpy · 07/10/2009 18:10

He ate a chicken nugget and a yoghurt. Woohoo!

FfreckleFface · 07/10/2009 18:23

Bastards. As for the crack about nurseries...have you taken names of anyone you've dealt with? Very strongly worded letter of complaint needed. God, Bumpy, you are more than entitled to glass of wine. This might be a stupid question, but is your husband helping at all? You need to get some sleep, simple as.

Poor little P. Is he any better?

bumpyandfrumpy · 07/10/2009 18:46

Have taken names, etc. but am not putting complaint in until I know that P is ok and I have had baby. Dont need to have to drive to different hospital i things are bad.
We have actually made it four hours without poo...hurrah. Then again he hasn't had any food til 5something....
I will be going to bed at 8pm tonight. Tis the only way. I must say that DH did go to hospital with us last night. He left and came back...but still. Other than that, well...I am trying to focus on the positives in life at the moment.

Two of my friends have just sent me a big bunch of flowers. They're very nice.

Ewe · 07/10/2009 19:25

Oh baf, that sounds shit. Assume you went to the big hospital? I have always had brilliant care from my local one, if you need to go again then maybe give it a try? (Unless emergency, obv) I can always come and stamp my feet if you need it When DD had norovirus and parovirus - the joy of daycare! - it was the GP who took stool samples. Is yours any good and worth trying again?

DD has had diarrhoea today and a bit of a temp but seems ok in herself, hoping it is a teething thing, not anything else.

Working and studying is HARD! DP is away in Manchester this week so have been on my own too. Ready to drop! My lounge smells funny and I really need to do my housework too. I also have no food. Clearly need some lessons in organisation!

merryberry · 07/10/2009 19:59

hope you're bedward bound then! i was permantly with no illness at you stage with 2! and all i can say is...persevere with nursery, get his immune system going now. you wo't believe it but it is easier when they are younger, rather than when they start school and you've got used to better quality of life! >voice/bitter/experience<

gg is a pig sometimes, he ate himself stupid tonight, then demanded two bottles of milk. i foolishly gave in. and have spent the last 50 minutes cleaning up the copius vom and resettling them both. delight.

bumpyandfrumpy · 08/10/2009 06:48

I got 6 hours sleep in a row. Woohoo! Please oh please let this be the day that I get the house tidy-ish again and start doing the washing that has been piling up behind all the P washing I've had to do...
I resisted the urge to have a drink or a handful of valium. Went back to the old fave drug. Chocolate.

bumpyandfrumpy · 09/10/2009 15:06

Ewe- Did you ever get your 18 month book pack? I must remember to...

ilovegreenbeans · 10/10/2009 19:32

Hello from Canada! Sorry I've not even been lurking for a while- baf it sounds like you've had a horrible time. I hope P is on the mend.
DD has been a little star, enjoying all the attention from her grandparents and aunts and uncles!

I think it was 2 years ago this weekend that we had our first Marchmums meetup- am I right? If so, it's been a pleasure "knowing" you all for this long

bumpyandfrumpy · 11/10/2009 07:29

ilgb- My goodness, you are right. And you're just as pg as you were then...how odd! Not as odd as that just made me think that I'm about to pop AGAIN and I wasn't even showing then...yikes! Hope you are having a fab Thanksgiving. I plan on giving birth on (American) Thanksgiving this year.

Thanks for all the GRR on my behalf. P is much better. Even eating. Still cant take him swimming, but I think we can brave the playground today.

Ewe · 11/10/2009 22:27

No I didn't! Will remember to go in week as have some very overdue Charlie and Lola books.

This weekend DP and I have decided to split/live separately. Think/hope it will be a trial thing but we're not getting on well at all at the moment and he has been given a big sum of money as a deposit on a house - I am not willing to commit to a mortgage with him at the moment. All a bit crap really and obviously has a long complex back story that I shan't bore you with at the moment.

baf - maybe we could all live together now! Away from useless bloody men...

Thinking of a name change too. Any clever/witty ideas?

bumpyandfrumpy · 12/10/2009 06:35

Ewe- THAT STINKS. Yes, shall we start a lovely girls-only communey thing where no one has to pay for childcare and there will be no smelly socks and dishes will go INTO the dishwasher? Seriously, though, I'm v sorry to hear that. I hope it all goes ok.

If anyone is up for a last minute meetup I am declaring a lunch at Giraffe in Wimbledon on Wednesday. I have a 50% off voucher for anyone who wants it so it's even CHEAP!

Last chance (probably) for you all to laugh at my massive tummy.

Dontpanic · 12/10/2009 11:57

Ewe aw {{{hugs}}}
BAF glad P is feeling better now, I'll claim a small part in the success with the Reiki ;) When are you due again roughly? Thought you had a month or so still to go...

ILGB glad you're having fun! I dream of being somewhere sunny with a beach & cocktails, why the hell am I going to the Arctic?

Hope everyone else is ok, not collapsing under the strain of sudden studenthood etc?!

Ewe · 12/10/2009 12:26

It was at my instigation so feeling ok - having Peter Pan as a partner is fairly exhausting so feeling a bit relieved, hugs always welcome though. Communey type thing sounds fabulous baf

Would love to come for lunch on Wednesday but I am waiting for a camera to be delivered so will have to see if I can rearrange it!

Studenthood is really enjoyable but so much reading, I can't get over how much reading I have to do all of the time!

bumpyandfrumpy · 12/10/2009 12:34

DP- I still have 6 weeks to go...just have a lot to do...

FfreckleFface · 13/10/2009 15:11

Oh Ewe that's shitty. Hope you and T are ok.

Ff has been properly ill for the first time this week, and is still feeling very sorry for herself. Her babyflu has coincided with Bloke having manflu, so they have mostly been huddled together on the sofa while I run around after them.

Littleducks, are you free next Friday? Is Henley ok for you?

DP - I will be about on the 30th. Whereabouts will you be?

Dontpanic · 13/10/2009 21:53

FfFf, away that weekend, sod's law!

Feeling mildly tipsy tonight since the company is paying for my 3 course meal 1/2bottle of wine and a G&T. Reader, I polished it all off.
Have never seen such a big hotel room, just a shame it looks like a chalet from the outside and doesn't have double glazing. Meh. It's scenic enough to have roadkill nearby.

FfreckleFface · 14/10/2009 00:36

DP I know you're away...in the Oxford area...where I live...

Dontpanic · 14/10/2009 07:38

Doh...must have jetlag from going all the way from Wales to England...
I'm staying at the Oxford Spires hotel, got a Hypnobirthing infant massage course from 9-5 on the sat and sun. Can't remember what day 30th is, if that's the friday then I'm free to get there whenever, though unlikely to be before midday

HolidaysQueen · 14/10/2009 12:03

hello all - i'm back from mauritius and hence very grumpy as it was too fabulous for words. DS had amazing holiday and has really changed over the last 2 weeks - both good and bad as he can now say no and scream very loudly, but can also say 'yes' and make intellectual leaps i didn't expect would be happening at 18mo e.g. on the beach picked up a piece of coral which had two prongs either side and said 'plane' while flying it through the air - and yes, it did look remarkably like a plane!

snowed under due to DH starting new stressful-but-exciting job this week which means i'm doing bulk of both morning and evening childcare, plus doing all the admin-schmadmin on the house purchase which is pootling along quite nicely. this makes me nervous - most chains are meant to have at least 3 near collapses and several renegotiations on price before they're a week old, and everyone in our chain is being incredibly reasonable and relaxed. i'm just sat here waiting for the bombshell...

waves/hugs especially to ewe and baf
