sophietom lol

Gert2a · 07/09/2009 13:49

sophietom excellent!

T'was me who sang 'I wipe your bum bum down', I'd forgotten about that... must reintroduce it into my current nappy changing repetoire.

Belgianchocolates · 07/09/2009 14:23

sophietom Bet that's made your day!

flippin More slings, tuttututut. Watch out lady before you break the bank Yesterday for the 1st time ever I managed to have C in a pouch in a hip carry without having the feeling that I need to support her a little too. I managed to sort out the washing and everything with both hands and her happily looking around on my hips. Sooo much better than a few weeks ago where she used to scream every time I put her in the wrap. Now she's sturdier I think she's happier because she can be arms out and looking around!

om nom nom* game. I do a version of that too. But it's more like yum yum yum, who's the fat tasty baby I'm constantly singing away to her in Dutch too.

I've had a great time exploring today btw. It's so lovely around here. Lots of little cafes in the nearest town and lots of little shops with old furniture, trinkets and other useless but pretty things.

Belgianchocolates · 07/09/2009 14:24

I'm very fond of the emoticon today it seems

llareggub · 07/09/2009 14:29

Belgian I saw your thread in Pendants' Corner. I have exactly the same feelings towards our street name, which is also missing an apostrophe. I really ought to graffiti when the children aren't watching.

sausagenmash · 07/09/2009 14:42

AAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHH

Breathe breathe breathe breathe

MIL has taken M out for a walk. She keeps calling M a 'rightbobbydazzler' I don't know why this riles me but it does . She has also said she is going to make me a blue garter for my wedding day - apols to any of you ladies who had this, it's just not my cup of tea, and now I have to worry about some home made bit of blue elastic pinging around my leg on my wedding day. She also told dp last week re all the family members who aren't coming to the wedding (stipulated RSVPs by 31 August) - and she told me just now that some of them are. FFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Relaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaax. Need wiiiiiiiine.

We do smiley wiler and chopsy choo choo M also likes a song about sausage pies in the sky fluttering by. Dp thinks I'm mad. He might be right (you can tell I like sausages - we are even having sausages and mash for our wedding nosh!)

Thanks for all the MIL support! It could be a LOT worse, she could be horrible and spiteful, and she's not, she's quite sweet (brought me some flowers) - just a little loopy. And ta for lovely comments re M's pics (on FB)

Sophietom - that's amazing! I got ID'd last year to buy some ciggies from the corner shop.... by someone who was old enough to be my son. Hoho.

sausagenmash · 07/09/2009 14:51

Fibythesea when you said you were feeding by the light of G's mobile I though 'gosh, she's a bit young for a mobile phone' ....duh....

I love these emoticons.... do we get halloween ones?

Looby - and at your dp re midnight gropes!!

Am going to look on Pedant's corner. Am quite fussy about all sorts of things. Grumpy would be very impressed with my nicely ironed, in order cupboards and drawers. I think I would ooooh and aaaah at her linen cupboard

Hm. Where's my baby?

sausagenmash · 07/09/2009 14:58

Dp is clearly bored at work and has just sent me this link

I don't know if it's real, but it's quite funny.

Must study

sausagenmash · 07/09/2009 14:59

Eh, that didn't work. Cut and paste this then:

video..telegraph.co.uk/services/player/bcpid1137883380?bctid=17075685001

sausagenmash · 07/09/2009 15:02

Gr. Try this instead

... and if that doesn't work, I'm giving up. Bloody laptop.

essenceofSES · 07/09/2009 15:15

sausage - that's a great link V clever whether it's real or not IYKWIM!

Sophietom - Wow!!

We're just back from O's jabs. Bless him, he was on such good form when he went into the room and all smiles for the nurse. The screams came though but he settled again fairly quickly.

runningmonkey · 07/09/2009 15:35

Hi All,

Thanks for the encouraging messages llare, flip and grumpy was beginning to think it was just me I might have a word with the HV tomorrow as well as I think I have been feeling a bit more down than I should tbh.

Lol at sophie DH got ID'ed last year buying booze in Asda He's got grey hairs in his beard FFS!

Am loving the songs/games. We play the nom nom nom one too and A loves the 'Grand old duke of york'. I have also been singing 'stinky bum' to the tune of Lady gaga's Poker Face when changing nappies, works well I find!

saus hope MIL has returned (and you got some studying done)

FiByTheSea · 07/09/2009 15:37

sausage breathe in that golden light seriously though.. i think you're coping well with mil by the sounds of it. lol at the mobile :-) hadn't thought of that.. my screen is actually quite large on it and could almost work like a mini torch

sophiet nice one!! so what are your beauty tips for me us that are looking our ages more than ever these days?!

i've been doing lots of phoning today.. now have 4 appointments at schools to suss out before the 23rd oct deadline and an estate agent coming sat to give us an updated valuation on our apartment.

managed to get my bath this am, do the hoovering, dusting & post office all before collecting ds from pre school.. luckily he still loves it there too.

ses glad o settled quickly.. makes it a tad less stressful.. for us too iykwim.

ReeBee · 07/09/2009 17:08

Sophie - what a result!

saus, hope you're coping ok with your MIL.

fi, sounds like everything's moving really quickly, how exciting!

My M&D have been here this weekend as they wanted to go to a caravan 'extravaganza' in Cottingham which is about 20 miles from us. DH and I went with them and it was quite good fun.

I've put away nearly all of F's 0-3 months clothes now. It was quite sad, actually. I felt like I was losing a bit of his 'babyness'. He's 14 weeks today, wow.

What age did those of you with other DCs move them into their own room? Who has moved their LO already? Not sure whether one of the reasons F keeps waking up is because he has outgrown his moses basket, but am wary re SIDs advice about rooms.

Momi, not sure re Big Scream as F has his 2nd lot of jabs at 9.30am and so he might not be up to it. Are you planning on going anyway?

Re games / singing - we have a variation of the Om nom nom game but like grumpy I tend to make up songs about whatever it is I'm doing. I'm not the world's best singer but fortnuately F isn't the most demanding critic either!

Blottedcopybook · 07/09/2009 18:03

Hello! Running gave me a poke on facebook because I haven't been around - I'm so sorry you guys. I'm just having a bit of a time of it just now and every time I come here I have like seven pages to read back and I'm not managing.

I'll try and be back more regularly! How are you all?

sausagenmash · 07/09/2009 18:36

Arg. Dp is back and is arguing with his mum downstairs. Sigh.

Hello blotted - know what you mean, it's hard to keep up!

Got a bit of work done, MIL was out with M for an hour and a half and then wanted to feed her when she got in double I usually do that...... Ah well, I'm off out in an hour and a half, la la la la la laaaaaaa. I'm off to a 'pampered chef' party - anyone ever been to one? Its a bit like a tupperware party but not so 70s and with swankier kitchen gadgets. It's very un-me, but I was invited by one of the nice mums in the local mum and baby coffee group I'm in, so I think it would be good to go. (Hope it's not a disguise for some dodgy swinging night!!)

Reggiee · 07/09/2009 18:54

Sophie pmsl . Am very of you young looking folk. Am feeling my age this past few days as my shoulder / back is knackered and painful (presumably from too much carrying of growing baby - I can't carry him on my 'wrong' side - it is sooo unnatural).

Saus / Reebee - we put B in his own room when he outgrew the basket at 9 weeks. His room is next door to our bedroom, but we have a monitor on (low) as we have to shut doors to prevent the annoying cats sleeping on anything soft. I have to confess I don't fully understand why them sleeping in your room protects more against SIDS - can anyone shed light on this?

Momi no worries re the races. We will meet up soon! I had two winners but missed most of the races due to chasing round after dd. She wanted to go on most of the rides but particularly the Cliffhanger one (the scary ride for adults....). Remind me never to go to Alton Towers with her - I can just about manage those gentle swans that 'sail' round the lake, but nothing else.

Hope all those with older children had a good day back to school.

llareggub · 07/09/2009 19:08

I've always understood the SIDS thing to be about the baby regulating his or her breathing by listening to that of the parents. The recommendations are also that the baby naps in the same room during the day too.

That's why DS2 sleeps downstairs with us during the day and evening and only comes up with us when we go up. I'm also a bit wary of leaving DS1 and 2 alone together, particularly as DS1 is bit of a monkey at night so it will be a while before DS2 goes up to bed in the evening.

Belgian good to hear that you are settling in your new area. Are you going to track down some baby groups?

essenceofSES · 07/09/2009 19:29

sausage - I've been to a Pampered Chef party. Was a bit apprehensive but had a good time. Lots of lovely gadgets and stoneware. Be clear about how much you can or can't spend before you go!!

SpangleMaker · 07/09/2009 21:34

Hi all. Name check amnesty for me, please, I've been catching up reading at various points during the day but am now on the better side of a large glass of wine and can't remember everything

Blotted good to see you again. Am not surprised you're finding it difficult to keep up, I am with just the one to look after.

Tummum hope your Business Link meeting went well

Sophietom

I love love love those socks Jennster linked to (sorry Grumpy - would they be ok if I went through each of the 45 combinations in turn?)

Re own rooms, H is in the cot next to the bed - we just managed to squeeze it in. I'm not in any hurry to move him, in fact if he's going to wake up I'd prefer not to have to get out of bed. He does sometimes nap in his cot, but I'm in and out of the room. He's currently asleep in the moses basket here with us. DH does a transfer to the cot when we go to bed. I guess when he gets too big to put down in his basket we'll have to do a bedtime routine and put him to sleep in his cot, but as he's quite small (even for his conceptual age) I think he'll last to 6 months.

Belgianchocolates · 07/09/2009 21:55

blotted Good to see you today. It's a bit spooky, because I had a sneak at your blog this afternoon because I was wondering how you're doing as we hadn't heard from you in so long. I hope that things are getting better with you.

sausage hope you're having fun at the pampered chef party. Hope your dp and mum stop arguing soon. It always makes me when people can't get along.

llare I've got a real thing about apostrophe mistakes. It really is easy, people always make it more difficult than it is and put them just willy nilly or not at all. Well there is a m&b group tomorrow in the village hall, so I think I'll have a look. Hopefully I'll meet a few people.

moving rooms The reason is what llare said. They also suspect that sometimes babies just forget to breathe and so being in the same room and hearing the parents breathe, snore (dh), toss and turn (me) disturbs them a little and reminds babies to breathe. We can fit a cot in the room + have no spare room for C, so she's going to stay with us until we either move again or work out an arrangement that doesn't require an ap.

Belgianchocolates · 07/09/2009 22:01

Oh, sausage forgot to say that dd1 loved your link.

Oh and the dcs had a great 1st day. They came back with lots of stories. Thanks for all the good luck wishes for them.

Talking about good luck. I wonder how Tummum's meeting went.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 07/09/2009 22:11

spangle under no circumstances are the socks acceptable, no combination, nuffink . How's H enjoying his jumperoo?

saus breathe, sip wine, breathe, swig wine, breathe, quaff wine, breathe, clench glass tightly in hand and demand refill through gritted teeth. There y'are, yer reetlittlebobbydazzler

reebee I take it you're east of York then? I shed a tear when I put away S's newborn and 0-3 month clothes

Blotted Hello chicklet! I have been keeping a tab on your blog, I hope you're ok. Loads of love to you and yours xx

I have my first paying guest. Woo-hoo! She's broken my wi-fi though . I've had to hardwire t'interweb with the help of DH in UK.

It's an exciting life I lead here - I have been visiting the different supermarkets to decide upon my favourite . I have Intermarche (so-so), Hyper-U (not really that Hyper and bloody expensive), Carrefour (this was great as it only opened today, only they haven't finished - they opened regardless and we got to shop amongst hairy-arsed workmen putting up shelves, drilling and hammering) and Aldi (non). Intermarche has the best cheese selection, Hyper-U the best bakery (for when the boulangerie is closed) but a large 'English' aisle which makes me cringe and Carrefour the best budget brands.

So now you know. Sorry, I've been spending too much time on my own in the linen closet, breathing in the heady aroma of Savon de Marseilles.

Oh and 'Poker Face' - DD2 sings 'Kill me now kill me now'. WTF?!?!?!?!

OP posts:
Tummum · 07/09/2009 22:44

Evening

I'm absolutely knackered me. Biz Link meeting was fab but I'm mentally tired trying to process all the information I was given. You lot are lovely, thinking of me. Thank you.

Grumpy did you show your 1st guest the laundry cupboard as part of her tour? Would you freak out to know that my once tidy laundry cupboard had labels... and now the piles on top of those labels bear no relation to their description, and I have to empty it all out to find anything

Belgian so glad the DC had a great 1st day. That always bodes well for settling in. Good luck with your Mums and Babes meeting tomorrow.

Sausage has MIL now left the building? Is that your duty done for a while

Blotted love DDs pink hair !

Momi are you having a better day today?

Re DC sleeping, G outgrew his moses basket about a month ago, so he is now in his cot in his own room. As you know, he has been waking up loads but this seems to be getting better as I am waiting for him to really cry before getting out of bed, and he is sometimes settling himself back again. Yay

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 07/09/2009 22:44

Night all.

I'm away to my bed with a cup of Verveine tea (the water is ROCK hard here - makes a really scaly cup of tea).

See y'all in the morn......
