flippin good news about your machine! Now you can get started with washing.

Talking about washing. If you've got a dribbling baby (like C) I can thoroughly recommend one of these cool bibs. I got some for C last week and they really work. Normal bibs were wet in no time, but these just last and last without getting her or her clothes wet and she looks cute as well. I've got a cow print one, a flowery one and a polkadot one.

DH today make me . I had gone to do a weekly shop at the local Tesco. I got a £5 off voucher for petrol. I was wondering where the nearest Tesco petrol station was and DH's reaction was: Oh, you spent over £50 today then? Err, duhuh, a weekly shop for 4 + a cat!? Of course I spent more than that! He really has no idea.

I just spent all evening sewing on name labels, my fingers hurt and I'm not even half way. Boo. Time for bed now and more sewing tomorrow.

FiByTheSea · 06/09/2009 09:05

morning how's everyone this am?

belgian how are the sore sewing fingers? have you still got loads of labels to go ? my phone won't load the bibs page so going to take a look when on the laptop later.. always had hit and miss trying to find good bibs.

my mum will be much happier when dad is home.. she feels bad that she's not strong enough herself to be able to help him the home is ok.. but it's definitely not the same as being at home. Took ds & G to see dad yesterday pm and ds was a little scared by some of the very much older residents who shouted or moaned to themselves. dad was really sprightly in comparison to them and he normally walks with difficulty and his walker for max of 10yds.

Belgian, ever tried the iron on ones? Or the fabric pens? At least once they get to school age the clothes last a bit longer than baby clothes. I cheat when sewing labels on, by folding it in half so it ends up a loop, and I only have to sew one edge..

sausagenmash · 06/09/2009 13:14

Oh Fibythesea your poor Mum - and you. It must be so hard. I know its no comparison, but when my Mum and I managed to get my Nan into a home (much to her disdain) it broke our hearts. Big hugs (very non MNy ones tho)

Belgian - thanks for the tips re periods - knew everyone would be different - just annoying! Have a supply in bathroom and handbag just in case... and good to know you moved your LO out at 16 weeks - makes me feels less bad about moving M out soon... bit sad though...

... oh and ta for the bibz link thing - M is VERY dribbly, have sent the link to dp (who is downstairs, haha) to see what he thinks.

Talking of which. Another row last night, probably my fault. Won't bore you with the details, but is ok now. Nearly erupted again this morning when dp said his Mum is coming tomorrow for a day and night - he'll be at WORK - helLO??! Gr. Said his Mum can take M out whilst I study. Hm. I hardly know her, am not too happy with her wheeling my daughter around an area she doesn't know very well.

Bloody PhD thing. Got to do a lOT of work. Pooooooooooo. Have a nice Sunday everyone

FiByTheSea · 06/09/2009 15:06

thanks sausage :-) sorry to hear about your row with dh but glad it's sorted and hope mil visit goes ok.

sorry for my double post before.. only just noticed.. still on my phone and sometimes it does weird things.

Belgianchocolates · 06/09/2009 15:16

Hi everyone,

How is everyone's sunday going today?

fi Hopefully for your mum the time your dad is in a home will go quickly. It must be sad to see him in that sort of environment. Big clumsy hugs for everyone.

I've finished now. My sewing fingers can heal now . I've tried iron on ones in the past and they didn't last the year. Never thought of using one of those pens. Anyway. It's done now and it all looks lovely and ready for tomorrow. It's almost like their 1st day at school ever again because they're starting at a new school. Dd1 is excited as she's already met a little girl at the playground who will be in y1 with her.

I got those bibs of eBay. I bought them because they were cute and was a bit about the claims that they can be worn all day, but they really are good. After a day's worth of dribbling, they only feel damp, rather than the traditional ones that feel soaking wet after an hour.

C had just the most amazing nap ever. She slept for 3h, in her cot AND fell asleep without a sound. She's so much happier now today. Still got 1 red cheek though, but it doesn't seem to bother her as much.

DH has just gone to work for the 1st time and will be home again tonight . It's going to be so lovely from now on. The dcs will love it. Also the village and surounding area here is so beautiful that we feel like we're on holiday, rather tham in a new home. Another great thing about our house is that we're right opposite the green and playground. So today I took the dcs over the road and C was still fast asleep in her cot. I had the baby monitor with me so I could hear her and kept popping in to check on her. It was great. From inside I could watch the dcs through the window and outside the baby monitor is still within range!

Belgianchocolates · 06/09/2009 15:21

I always have so much to say when I get on here that I always forget something. I meant to say saus that I think you're so clever for taking on a PhD and very brave for taking it on with a baby + wedding plans. You must be so organised! Not the best planning on the part of your DP to get his mum over when he's not home + when you need to study. But maybe it is a good idea for her to look after M for a bit while you study. They can get to know eachother.

Jennster · 06/09/2009 16:26

Those Skibz are available through Babybugs, where you can get a 10% MN discount. They're £10 each though and I've no idea how that compares with Ebay.

Jennster · 06/09/2009 16:32

Socks NOT for the anal amongst you. Perfect for my chaotic house.

sausagenmash · 06/09/2009 16:33

Belgian - that's very kind of you - although I'm not the most organised person around! Nice of you to see the 'good' side of the MIL coming, although I'm a bit about it all... apparently FIL has been nagging dp that MIL wants to see the baby more, and my Mum sees too much of her, and she will grow up not knowing dp's Mum. Gr. MIL said the other day 'we do want to see her before she goes to school, you know'. Aargh. Wouldn't be so bad if dp got on really well with his parents, but he doesn't at ALL - he can't believe he is actually related to them, and says he thinks his Mum is a bit, well, dippy. And he's not that far wrong. You should see the home made cards that she makes. So am finding it a bit hard to have to leave my pfb in the hands of someone who I a) hardly know and b) my dp doesn't even trust. And it's not like we can go and stay at theirs for a weekend, as they don't have enough room for us plus a travel cot. (plus dp doesn't WANT to) Did actually point out to dp that he should be here when his mother comes to stay, but he just said that she is just coming to see M, not us. PAH. It's not like he'd just sit there if MY Mum came to stay!!!!!

Aargh.

And breathe.....

.... back to studying. Am getting really pissed off at the feedback on my assignment. GRRRRRRR

sausagenmash · 06/09/2009 16:35

Jennster - those socks! - shudder! I couldn't cope with those!!!!

runningmonkey · 06/09/2009 19:02

Hi all just checking in to bookmark havebeen Reading but no time to reply. Will try tomorrow x x

Febes · 06/09/2009 19:49

I'm also struggling to keep up. I'm enjoying reading but no real time to post.

llareggub · 06/09/2009 20:06

LOVE the socks!

I might buy them for friend's twins.

Tummum · 06/09/2009 21:29

Gosh, it's quiet here tonight. I love the socks too - G often goes out in mismatched pairs but I just keep up with 3DCs lots of little socks. I am sure the washing machine eats them.

Belgian so glad you have settled in well & hope the DC get on OK at new school tomorrow. It will be lovely for you to see your DH most days too. I can't imagine what it would be like to have my DH home every night as he has been working away almost all of our 10 year married life. Not planned (honest!) just the way it worked out.

Saus good luck with MIL tomorrow. Sounds like a bit of a difficult situation. I am def. not the person to ask advice on how to handle dodgy in-laws as I haven't exactly excelled myself on that. I am also in awe of the Phd activity... how on earth can you do that and also look after M? My brain is complete mush.

Speaking of which, I have just finished the prep for my meeting with Business Link tomorrow. I am quite excited but scared, having done the projections, I am not sure it will make me much money unless I really get a decent customer base. I am really exhausted at the mo, with G feeding 4 times a night, so I am finding all this business activity pretty stressful on my shattered old brain. Oh well.

Hope you all have lovely evenings and a good week next week.

Belgianchocolates · 06/09/2009 21:35

sausage Aah. I see why you're worried about leaving mil with M. Definitely of your dp to leave you to entertain mil while he's not there, no matter how much he doesn't like her. I hope you get something sorted. In the mean time carry on with the deep breaths in... and relaxxxx....

Those socks made me , but I must be more anal than I thought, because they would just be too much for me.

You can get those bibs on eBay for £5.99 (inc. postage). So eBay's cheaper.

Belgianchocolates · 06/09/2009 21:38

tummum x-post! Good luck with your business link meeting. I hope you'll get some good ideas and advice. My DH has worked away for the 10 years I've lived with him too, so I don't know how I'll cope with having him at home every day. Sometimes I like my quiet nights alone

Momino · 06/09/2009 21:41

hi all. great day at York races. didn't bet but the girls had a wonderful time. they were so excited to see the horses race by, also had a picnic, ice cream, rode the Thomas train, etc. dd2 skipped her nap so by the end of the day they were whingey and difficult but it was worth it.

now the part, I forgot my mobile at home so had to depend upon my memory of FB reggiee photos (very weak) to try to find her. it would have been so lovely to meet you and am so sorry that I'm disorganised. came home to a few missed calls, etc. ahh, maybe next time?

speaking of meeting, this week's Big Scream films are Breakfast at Tiffany's (lovely but I've seen a few times) and District 9 (heard good things). if anyone's interested, let me know.

socks, i love them as well and need a baby gift...
Belgian, really like the bibs and think I will invest as Harper's tops are always soaked. I see they were designed by a mum... I wish I could think of such a good idea to make a lot of money.

sausage, good luck with studying.
has everyone had a good weekend?

Jennster · 06/09/2009 21:59

What are these drooly babies? Actually DS is but the dds aren't.

Belgian Sausage and Tumumm Good luck tomorrow. Pula is it dd's first day tomorrow?

If I've missed anybody I'm sorry. Hope everybody had a lovely weekend.

I've just had Sicillian Lemon Meatballs with bay and white wine sauce, and Rhubarb Crumble for pudding. To die for crumble. Mainly crumble, it's the nicest bit. Have a massive bag of Bramleys and so will be eating quite a bit of crumble in the next few months. Think I will make a massive batch of crumble and freeze it in a bag to use prn.

Momino · 06/09/2009 22:30

jennster, Harper is incredibly drooly. I don't remember the other 2 dd's being as drooly. that's why I'd be interested in spending £10 on one of those bibs.

your meatballs meal sounds lovely.

dh made jambalaya from the saturday times Jamie Oliver recipe, 'twas lovely.

had a magnum for afters. i've not really become healthy in my eating. maybe why my tummy is still a bit big. i always blame BF though.

flippineck · 06/09/2009 22:37

Evening all!

Tummum - hope it all goes well tomorrow!

saus - hope the MIL visit isn't too bad, and the things with DP continue to improve.

Belgian - lovely to hear you are settling in to your new home so well, hope school all goes ok too!

jennster - you don't need to freeze crumble mixture if you don't want to, it'll keep in a sealed bag/box in the fridge for quite a few weeks. Your use of 'prn' took me back to my past, I worked as a dispensing assistant part time while I was at university!

Those bibs - how do they work? Do they have a waterproof backing, or is it just because there is a bit more fabric in them than normal bibs?

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 06/09/2009 22:48

jennster at those socks, mine eyes have been mortally offended.

And hollow laugh at Momi "maybe why my tummy is still a bit big". Ladies, she's a slender sapling. She lies!!!!!!!!!!

saus I would like to say "How nice" about MIL wanting to wheel precious baby daughter around whilst you study diligently, but I'd be in the same frame of mind as you

This is a bit of a drive-by posting as it's 11.45 here and I'm a leetle tired so night all, sweet dreams and here's to sleepy babies nuzzling like ponies....

OP posts:
Belgianchocolates · 06/09/2009 22:50

Thanks for all the good luck wishes. I'm really excited about it all now. Although when I told the dcs that it'll be an exciting day tomorrow they didn't seem to share that opinion (Ds thought I was excited because I'd have a peaceful day, lol)

Sounds like a lot of you have been having yummy meals this weekend. jenn I love crumble! Can I have some

Those bibs haven't got a plastic backing or anything. Apparently it's all in the dense weave. They're actually smaller in size than normal bibs, but super absorbant. They dry quickly enough though. momi You can get them on eBay for much cheaper than £10. I wish I'd had them for dc1&2, who also were big dribblers.

Well. Better go to bed now so I can be up bright and early to get the dcs all ready and dressed for school tomorrow.

Belgianchocolates · 06/09/2009 22:53

grumpy Nuzzling pony babies

Talking about bellies. Ds pointed at my belly asking what it was, upon which dd1 commented that there was another baby in there .

Night night everyone!
