FiByTheSea · 05/09/2009 13:20

stuffed full now.. we had fresh out of the oven crusty rolls filled with thick cut bacon.. with tomatoes and cucumber on the side.

dad is doing better.. he's a step closer to coming home. he's been transferred to a nursing home until the 14th sept when his care at home package starts. off to see him this afternoon with ds and G so that should brighten his day.

we're planning our NS trip which is v exciting and trawling through their job pages for dh. emigrating will not be easy even with dh's points because of the various hoops you have to jump through but we're going to give it a go.

llareggub · 05/09/2009 13:33

George is Peppa Pig's little brother. He is 18 months old. Can you tell we watch a lot of Peppa Pig?

In fact it is on now...

Momino · 05/09/2009 13:57

thanks for that llare. I only know Peppa pig from dd1's wellies. we're watching lazytown right now (it gets on my nerves but dd1 likes it).

fi, glad your dad is doing better. and so excited for you about your NS trip. I always fancied living in Canada but not sure where. what is the weather like in NS?

FiByTheSea · 05/09/2009 14:08

momino nova scotia weather has 4 definite seasons although winter is long spring quite short and summer is a definite summer. They get proper snow.. think ski, sledging, snowmen and snow ball fights. summer is mid 20's temp wise on average.

Momino · 05/09/2009 14:17

fi, sounds perfect. I miss the seasons, the hot summers, colourful autumns, snowy winters. Here, I wear jumpers year-round.

FiByTheSea · 05/09/2009 16:16

momino i was the same with jumpers when i first lived in scotland.. after being there for about 10yrs i must have aclimatised (sp?) as i was often in short sleeves with no jumpers in april/may! i find it really quite warm down here in wsm even when my local pals complain of it being cold :-)
the amount of snow in NS will be something to get used to though.. we have photos of auntie catherine next to a snow drift against her garage that was higher than her so snow chains for the car def a necessity.

sausagenmash · 05/09/2009 17:00

*Momino8 - I've got a crappy hip too. It was fine in pregnancy, but I think my stupidly long labour triggered it off. I had hip problems as a little girl (perthes disease - blood supply to head of the femur cuts off, so the 'ball' bit of the end of the bone disintegrated. Anyway, it was fixed, but I've now got osteoarthritis) It's now quite bad, and I'm limping and can't stand on it first thing in the morning. Been to Gp, going to get referred. That's all I need, a new hip. Harumph.

Dp much better today - thanks everyone for your nice thoughts and clumsy hugs . He often gets really arsey when he's busy at work, and he has been. Had a little chat about it today, and I've made it clear that it really upsets me and sends doubts into my head, and I think this really shocked him. So. We'll see.

Was going to get loads of PhD stuff done today, but have done wedding-y stuff and played with M instead. Got a 2 hr splurge to do now before M's bedtime. Dp is doing a chili for dinner to watch during x-factor or whatever it is - yay! PhD stuff tomorrow....

Still very re fibythesea's NS plans and Grumpy's vie en France. Am looking forward to Christmas...?!! Hehe

Jennster · 05/09/2009 17:13

sophie We got the weaning leaflet from dippy jackie at 13 weeks. At least I don't have to see her. Dd2 had her last lot of injections on Thursday, and they've changed the time of the baby clinic so she didn't get weighed. Stooopid.

Grumpy Il y a trompets ici.

Saus Dh and lived together for years before I got up the duff. He was convinced he was shooting blanks and so I said fine. I'm not taking the pill anymore. We had been engaged for ages but when it came to setting a date he chickened out. I came to see it that we weren't engaged. I was pregnant within a month and married within 5 weeks of finding out. My mum and dad used to make us sleep in separate rooms too. Glad things are a bit better for you today.

Fibythesea

Febes OMG I can't believe I keep forgetting to tell you but dh bought me your sister's painting! I love it. I'll nag him to do a positive feedback. It was brilliantly packed too.

Pula enjoy your holiday and LOL at the horse.

Grumpy I too have an olive tree, and a fig tree in my old house. Brown Turkey actually do very well in a hot spot in this country.

Tummum Great news. You wouldn't even know ds had a talipe now.

Momino George is Peppa's little brother.

Going to try and sell stuff at the next NCT nearly new sale. Have decided there are loads of dd1 outfits that actually i won't put dd2 in so will sell.

Belgianchocolates · 05/09/2009 17:33

Hi everyone,

momi I still have pelvis pains (mainly 1st thing in the morning) + a few extra aches and pains I didn't have when preg in my hands, which I guess is from picking up C all the time. Funnily enough I was just talking about it with DH and told him that there definitely wont be a no4 if my body keeps being so creaky.

fi Soo excited for you. White winters and warm summers sounds so lovely and the houses ... amazing!

When I lived in North Carolina I had the same thing going, but the other way around. I used to think 18-20C was quite chilly and put on a coat, while here (and in Belgium) I find it actually quite lovely

saus glad to hear your DH and you had a chat and that hopefully things will go better now.

saus jenn same with my pil, even though we lived together for years, dh and I had to sleep in separate bed rooms before dcs. She did the same with my SIL and her now DH. My 1st xmas here DH and BIL and SIL and me each ended up sharing a room. Odd...

Talking about exotic fruit. We've got passion flowers (and fruit) growing up the back of our house! I haven't tried one yet though.

Poor C has been really grumpy today. One of her cheeks is bright red too, so I think it's her teeth playing up. She's barely smiled today and is very clingy. I've been putting bonjella on her gums to soothe them. Despite her grumpiness she's also done some amazing sit ups in her bouncy chair today too. She was determined to put the toys on the bar attached to it in her mouth and so sat forward. Her face went bright red, but she wasn't giving up and managed to do what she wanted to!

Right, got to go. C is unhappy again + my cheese cake is nearly ready (I'm baking a cheese cake on ds's request)

sausagenmash · 05/09/2009 17:52

Chapter 2 on funny auntie saga...

My other aunt has emailed my Dad saying 'ooh, aunt x hasn't had a wedding invite'. Dad has emailed back to say 'she's not getting one either' Eeeek. Talk about family ructions about to explode. I feel kind of sad about it, but I just can't rely on her not being rude, especially with my friends there. Gah.

I'm so COLD I'm going to sneak downstairs and put the heating on.

Belgian - baby number 4?!!!!! I'm sweating at the thought of baby number 2!!!

Belgianchocolates · 05/09/2009 18:18

saus I hope those family ructions (do those really exist or is it a typo? [stupid foreigner emoticon]) don't explode at your wedding. Hopefully everyone will remember it's your special day
No4. Hmm, yes, well,... . I sort of agreed with DH in the past that 2 a biggish gap and another 2 sounds lovely. I've started to regret that since C's birth though. DH on the other hand hasn't forgotten and really wants a no4, but does seem to understand that if my body says no this will be the end. We're going to give it a year.

llareggub · 05/09/2009 18:38

Four children? That is brave. I don't think I could do that although the family down the road have four and seem to manage.

We've started talking about number three. DS2 has been such an easy baby that we are being quite optimistic about the prospect. I bet it'd be another boy though!

Tummum good news about DS's foot. You must be relieved.

Grumpy I loved the facebook photos. The house looks wonderful/magnifique!

SpangleMaker · 05/09/2009 18:41

Wow llare George is growing up fast

Grumpy looked at your pictures on fb. Am now from head to toe - the house and garden are beautiful. Thank you for your lovely thoughts about H You lot all made such a fuss when H was born of us we felt very special

Ahem!

Right - spiders. Went to bed last night, had a last look at sleeping H to see a huge spider scuttling across his cot (next to bed) and over his sleeping bag Called DH in a panic and flapped about while he bravely captured it under a plastic cup half an inch from H's hand. I then had to hold the cup there and watch the spider darting about for what felt like 10 minutes while DH found something to slide underneath, convinced H would wake up and bash his hand against the cup thereby releasing the terrible creature to crawl onto his face . Fortunately all ended well with no harm done to me, H or spider.

essenceofSES · 05/09/2009 18:44

Hi all!

I'd love (in my easy care-free day dreamy world!) to have four Not sure it'll happen though as I'm 36 now.... Wish I'd met DH 10 yrs earlier...

I saw a friend of mine earlier today who has SIX!!! Oldest is 14yo and youngest is 23months.
... I think...

Belgianchocolates · 05/09/2009 18:56

Ds's very glamourous, slim y1 teacher has 6 dcs too. Her oldest is 15, the youngest must be 6m. she's already super skinny and gkamourous again

essenceofSES · 05/09/2009 19:02

Belgian - Don't worry, you look pretty slim and glam in your FB photos!

sausagenmash · 05/09/2009 19:46

SPIDERS!!! Spangle you POOR thing. I would have been having kittens if I saw one near M. I'm getting bloody fed up with them. Ugly, horrid, scary things. Ever seen that film Arachnophobia? Aaaaarggghhh!!!

Dp has bathed and creamed M tonight. I checked to see if there was a nappy. Hehe.

Ses - I'm only a year older than you, and also wish I'd met my dp a long time ago. I'm yet to be convinced to have a number 2 yet. (that is a child, for all of you with rude hats on, not a poo.)

Belgian - I think ructions is a word. Yep, just checked. It means unpleasant row, according to the online dictionary thing. Well, yes, that would probably happen if said aunt and her possible lesbian friend are there. Not because of the lesbian thing, just because she's a miserable meany.

Jennster et al, funny how parents make us all sleep in separate rooms! Dp and I don't have to, which I am SO surprised about - but bit hard not to with a LO about.

Oooh the outside street lamp is glowing red! How weird!

Ok - 2 odd Qs -

1 - Has anyone moved their LO into their own cot into their own room yet? (am fully aware of the guidelines, but M is now very squished in her moses basket, and we can't fit a whole cot into our room)

2 - I stopped breastfeeding (bad mummy emoticon) exclusively about a week ago - anyone know when I would expect my periods to return? Not that I'm worried, but just want to be sort of prepared...

I can hear X factor on downstairs......

Reggiee · 05/09/2009 19:58

Loooooooooaaaads of chat .

I have just settled down with glass of wine number 2 and X-Factor. Bliss.

Was merely going to lurk as I don't have anything interesting to say, but Momi - if the weather is good we will be going to the races tomorrow. It's fil birthday so will be going avec famille , but if you are also going it would be lovely to meet up. I'll FB you my mobile number.

Spiders . Father Christmas kindly bought me a spider catcher device a few years back, which is brilliant, particularly for those big ones with the humungous spindly legs. Safely remove without a squeal from me. Dd positively likes spiders as I have tried (too hard it would appear) to not pass my fear to her.

Saus sounds like you have loads on at the minute. What do they say some of the most stressful events are....births...marriages..
Oh, our heating went on for an hour today. Thankfully it works!
And aches and pains. My shoulder is killing me today from lifting lo's. |Think I must stand with them on my hip really awkwardly. My lower back / cocyxx is still not right from labour (dr says can't do anything), and I'm still waiting for my referral for my prolapse. But he's still so worth it .

Fi / Llare glad to hear the relatives are doing better.

Belgian haven't had B weighed for a while but this week he has grown before my very eyes. His 3-6 mth vests are a bit on the small side and don't have any more. Would it be so bad to put him in his sister's pink ones in the next size up?

Reebee hope your dh had a fab time at the Oval . It was a pretty grim day here yesterday.

PMSL at all the parents who didn't let you and dp share bedrooms pre marriage. But it does make you think what you'll be like when our dc's reach late teens .

Febes · 05/09/2009 20:33

Bookmarking be back soon or maybe tomorrow

LoobyLou36 · 05/09/2009 20:33

grumpy fab pics just showed DH he too is he'd love us to take the camper to France next year

feeling cold tonight so we've lit the log fire in the living room

have just started on the fenugreek as I'm a bit worried about my milk supply since M has taken a liking to bottle over breast during the day

watching x factor and drinking a glass of cider (should be making seat covers for the camper )

Belgianchocolates · 05/09/2009 20:37

ses ta for the compliment. I'm at my biggest ever though now. After dd1 I had lost all my baby weight by now. This time around it's much much slower. I'm still in 14's and I used to be a 10.

saus I think that periods returning really really depend on each mum + even each baby. Some mums haven't got period as long as they give some breastmilk, others get them as soon as lo drops a feed/is weaning. So it's hard to tell how mixed feeding will affect you. But it's always worth to be prepared anyway Oh and I moved ds into his own room at 16 weeks due to his extreme noisiness. This time around she's still with us and will be until a 4 bed house comes along (we'll need a boy's room, girls' room and ap room)

spiders don't really bother me. I used to be the resident spider catcher for friends during school/camping trips . But if I catch one even trying to touch C, it will die a horrible death!

fi/llare I'm also pleased to hear off course that your relatives are doing better. fi How's your mum finding having your dad in a nursing home?

Right, off now to find ds's Beast Quest book (he can read a chapter a day in bed) and then I'm going to have to urgently get started with sewing name labels in the dcs new uniform (we only got it yesterday).

muddleddaizy · 05/09/2009 21:37

Hello - everyone has been very chatty, now I've read it all I'll promptly forget who said what and do very little name checking! Sorry - but my memory is shocking atm. Is anyone elses or is it just me?

momino my hips, pelvis and back have been playing me up recently. I have a congenital hip problem which should be fixed but causes me pain every now and again.

Fi NS sounds fantastic and the houses amazing! Grumpy your pics look pretty cool too. I'm not about to attempt any french as I was naff at it at school! My Grandmother has uttered the classic french phrase 'Parlez vous francais?' only it was to my brother's french penfriend. She couldn't understand why we were rolling about laughing!!

Sausage glad you and your dp have talked and cleared the air. I was pretty much like you re baby no2, but now I've had him I want more {stamps feet in a childlike way!}, but now dh says no!

Spangle your spider story makes me shudder and unfortunately reminds me of an incident in a south african hospital with a baby and a cockroach which still makes me !

We've had a family bbq today, probably the last one of the year as it was pretty chilly. Ds1 just loves running around having fun, ds2 I think is starting the teething process and will chomp on any unsuspecting persons fingers should they get too close to his mouth!

I have realised we have to be careful what we say around ds1, he had a horrible stinky nappy and I referred to it as a crappy nappy. Cue ds1 repeating Crap, crappy nappy like the little boy in Meet the Fokkers

Anyhow I am writing an essay here, so I will stop...

muddleddaizy · 05/09/2009 21:39

Ses meant to say that I also get the feeling my periods about to start. I used to get it every month for almost a year before it finally did return!

Momino · 05/09/2009 22:10

wow a lot of talk tonight. don't think i'm going to catch up!
reggiee, have fb my mob but I'll text you if we go. defn depends upon the weather.

belgian/sausage/muddled, thanks for the feedback on joints. my pelvis is really sore a lot of the time but is getting better luckily. I do think I'll see the GP about it.

sorry, gotta go now. it's 10pm and we haven't eaten yet.

back on later. xx

flippineck · 05/09/2009 22:56

No time to catch up as I'm off to bed now, but thought I'd share the good news...my washing machine is fixed! Cost £70, so hopefully it'll keep going for a few more years.

Bonne nuit tout le mode, je reviens(?) tomorrow.
