Bonjour tout le monde! J'aime le theme francais ici cette semaine.

Oooh, that was hard. GCSE french was a long time ago...at least Canadian is easier to speak! Can do Welsh if anyone is interested?

lol at pig sperm! saus - pah at your aunt; issues there indeed. One of my grandmothers fell out with my sister because she got pregnant and wasn't married, it was all quite unpleasant for a while. She eventally got over it just before she died (she'd fallen in love with my nephew!) but things were never the same really.

Grumpy - gad things have started smoothly with the school, long may it continue! How exciting for you all, and us to hear your news from l'autre cote de la manche.

All ok here. Nothing planned, just need to buy a birthday present for a party tomorrow. Dreading next week, DH is away again for work and DD1 is being a right royal PITA at bed times. She won't sleep during the day but is so tired by bed time that she turns into devil child, and of course is getting grumpy then too.

DH is feeling abit left out at, DD1 just wants me to do stuff for her/be with me all the time. I guess this is reaction to me having to feed A all the time, but poor DH things none of us like him, A only wants milky cuddles from me, DD1 wants to be centre of my attention, and he's not getting what he wants from me either!

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 04/09/2009 10:20

Bugger!

Il fait plui(e?) and the roof has leaked in the 'office'.

It's pouring down here .

Saus come out here and be my translator? I may have to blank you though for having the audacity to have a child without being married . Bloody relatives, they can be so irritating. As many have said here though, it's your Aunt's loss, innit?

Nova Scotia - always thought the name sounded so romantic! Go for it FibytheseabutnotsomewherecrappylikescarboroughwhereIspentcrappychildhoodholidays

Bugger bugger bugger at the rain.

Morning all,

Grumpy- sorry to hear your roof is leaking

saus- I got pg just before i got married (got BFP on our honeymoon) which was just about acceptable to my family but they weren't happy about us living together before we were married and whenever we went to stay with my parents, we weren't allowed to sleep in the same room .

Well i had a funny dream last night. I was stroking a horse then it came really close to me and started nuzzling at my neck, all wet and slobbery. I woke up as i didn't like it, to find DS2 asleep on my shoulder having a suck at my neck. I must stop falling asleep with him .

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 04/09/2009 10:44

pula So sweeeeeeeeet DS2, the nuzzling horse!

I now have 2 pans and 2 bowls on the floor, catching drips. Unfortunately, nothing is urgent here, so it will probably be next week before it's fixed .

Bloody French.

Still, I have spent a satisfying morning arranging my linen cupboard. The bliss! Towels are now in size and colour order, as are sheets and pillowcases (the 4 rooms are colour-themed, the red room looks like a whorehouse ).

sorry about your rain leaks grumpy but lol at your red boudoir

I've also been doing laundry.. 2nd lot in the machine and putting the fuzzibunz back together ready for using.

dh and I also lived together before getting married and both lots of parents had us sleeping separately. Thought my mum would have been used to it as I'd lived with ex-husband before marriage too...

FiByTheSea · 04/09/2009 11:06

pula ds2 awww really sweet.

sophietom · 04/09/2009 11:27

pula thats so cute
Now, ahem,
I have just received mail from Cow and Gate. It is a sample of baby cereal (for ages 4m onward according to packet umm what about DoH guidelines about not weaning until 6 months!) and a leaflet about weaning- Jake is only 13 weeks old FFS! According to their bumph putting things in their mouth is a sign that your baby is ready to start weaning, well Jake has been putting things in his mouth ever since he has been able to grasp them because he's a BABY not because he's hungry arrrgghhh
sorry rant over

sophietom · 04/09/2009 11:30

now I've got that off my chest I'm having a giggle because I know how much it will rile Jenn when she reads it ... tee he he (sorry Jenn)

ReeBee · 04/09/2009 11:56

OMG, Sophietom, that's outrageous! But, as an aside, could you also please explain the baby vs hungry thing to my DH?! He is convinced that F is starving ALL the time.

Grumpy, I see your leaking office roof in France and raise you a(nother) miserable, grey drizzly day in Yorkshire with an essential trip out in said drizzle to the Post Office... and a husband who's away watching the one day international cricket at the Oval on a hospitality jolly with a free bar, 4 course dinner and champagne reception. I believe I may have top trumps, non?

I am also enjoying the franglais chat; who needs two perfectly good languages when we can maul and mutate them into one horrible mess?!

Pula, love the dream and DS2 - wonder whether there was a hidden meaning?

Question, ladies - F seems to be going backwards in the nighttime sleeping stakes. He slept through (from 11pm - 5.30am say) a few times but never woke any earlier than 4.30 but now he's waking at 2am and then 5am. He's 13 weeks - is it a growth spurt? He falls asleep on the boob at his 11pm feed so maybe he's not taking enough. Should I try a formula top up or perhaps try to express so DH can give him his last feed and we can see how much he's having? Or should I only worry about it if it's still happening in a week? Haven't had him weighed for a while but he seems his normal solid and cheerful self.... what to do? I am finding as well that my boobs don't seem to be filling up overnight (or through the day) like they used to - assume this is a consequence of the extra feeds rather than a lack of supply?? I don't want to precipitate a vicious circle by starting with formula and reducing my supply.

Oh, and Llare, re EBM and F's eye - I might give it a go after I've given the new lot of ointment a chance to work. Although DH was not up for it. Bless him.

Small confession time - I had to search for the definition of BFP on MN as I had no idea! I'm such a div... I joined the thread quite late, January I think. My pos test was Fri 5th Sept; so, pretty much a year ago.

Better go, can hear the type of whimpering that will only escalate.

flippineck · 04/09/2009 12:23

ReeBee - yep, growth spurt I reckon. There's famously one around about 4ish months, but tbh I think it can happen any time.

J'aime le pain homemade . Nous avons son lunch a bit early today, I messed up the time this morning. Bathed A, realised that I can't actually remember when she last had a bath, oops! She's now fallen asleep in her swingy chair by the washing machine, it's hard being a baby.

grumpy - boo about your leaky roof, but lol at your boudoir!

EBM and eyes - definitely works. No need for expressing, go straight from the source! Have to practice your aim a bit.

I've got a line full of nappies, thye look lovley blowing in the wind. I am so sad, I know.

pulapula · 04/09/2009 13:35

reebee- some books also mention a growth spurt at 3 months, so could well be. I am wondering if S is having his 4 month growth spurt- 3 or 4 feeds a night atm and unsettled in the day. Could be a reaction to jabs too though...

Momino · 04/09/2009 14:05

pula, very cute about your dream.

grumpy, hope the rain stops so you don't have to worry about that leak. on the other hand, lol at your organising bliss .

reebee, Harper started waking around 3 months and still is. I haven't had her weighed but have notice her legs get chunkier (irresistable!) so think she's been going through a growth spurt for a few weeks.

flippin, re: baths, I'm the same and was horrified to find build up behind her ears of (probably) milk drool.

sophie, you mean Jake isn't on solids yet? Harper's been eating spaghetti since 8 weeks... . i can't believe the labels say 4 mos. when dd1 was weaned 3 years ago, i though it was just labelling the companies were using up before updating age to 6 mos .

it's Quiet Time here: dd1 in front of telly, dd2 and Harper having naps. I should be doing something constructive but am instead catching up here, facebook, emails, checking ebay etc. i feel a bit guilty. and haven't showered or put on make up today. With 3 i just don't seem to have much time to do those things. and can't shower unless there is another adult in the house. i have put on deoderant though .

llareggub · 04/09/2009 14:10

Bonjour! I've just got back from the Boden shopping party. It was madness! Lots of samples to try on and I could have spent a fortune. I ended up buying a Henley knitted dress, cords, a cord blazer and then I had a printed skirt for absolutely nothing! I went with DH's aunt and cousin and they were very naughtily trying to get me to spend more but I was very good and didn't.

There were clearly some very wealthy people there as some of the women were very groomed with order sheets clutched in the hands. I did think about placing another order to flog on ebay but in the end couldn't be bothered.

Got to dash out again now as we've been invited to two birthday parties over the weekend so better find some pressies!

Hope everyone is having a good day.

llareggub · 04/09/2009 14:11

The groomed women had order sheets with lots and lots of orders is what I meant...

Momino · 04/09/2009 14:16

just re-read my post above: i certainly was happy with the !

Momino · 04/09/2009 14:18

llare, never heard of a Boden party. just got the latest catalogue in the post. can only afford the 2nd hand/ebay boden at this moment, i'm afraid. am keeping my eye out for a pink duffle coat on ebay for dd1.

llareggub · 04/09/2009 14:31

It is all funded by the money I've made from my ebay selling. I've sold off most of wardrobe and wouldn't have spent that much under normal circumstances.

SpangleMaker · 04/09/2009 14:42

Mmmm, there are a few nice Boden things this season. I always prefer autumn/winter collections because I am a miserable old bag like to cover up.

Grumpy j'espere que votre roof sera (? being daring and trying future tense) fixe tres vite.

Assez franglais!

pula awww at nuzzling baby!

Fi We might have to think about joining you in NS! Our house is so tiny.

We're going to be busy as of next week - Rhythm Time on Mondays, NCT mums on Tues, Baby Sensory on Thurs and baby massage on Fri. DH laughed at me signing up to baby massage - H gets so excited when we take his clothes off, thrashing around and bashing his legs on the floor - not exactly tranquil

Momino · 04/09/2009 14:47

that's a good idea llare. I've done similar in that i use £ made selling for buying the children clothes.oh, i wish i were good at ebay selling. i'm going to try again though with some branded baby clothes Harper has outgrown.

SpangleMaker · 04/09/2009 15:31

ReeBee I don't think night waking is anything to worry about, just annoying! They do have growth spurts around this age, and (this was the case with H) get so interested in their surroundings they don't feed so effectively in the day and therefore need to catch up at night. H had a period of a few weeks when on some days I was quite worried about how little he was drinking, but now he's feeding like a demon - fortunately mostly in the day.

sophietom one of my NCT friends with a 13 wk old received the cow & gate pack while I was round there yesterday. One of our group has started weaning already (at around 19 wks I think) because her baby seemed hungry all the time Her HV told her she should wait, but she knows her baby etc. The advice sheets the HV gave her (she gave me a copy) had a menu 'from 5-6 months' with a small note at the bottom saying DoH recommends waiting until 6m. I'm a bit [shocked] at her HV tbh. I'm going to a talk next week at my baby clinic (diff area) so I'll be interested to hear what they say.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 04/09/2009 16:40

Just harvested tomatoes and courgettes from the garden (I have also discovered that there is a fig tree and a nectarine tree, which made me wheek like a guinea pig). With regard to the fig tree, DH said 'Is that what fig rolls are made from?'

DH and I stood sniggering at the courgette shaped almost exactly like a penis.

Just rushing out to see what else I can harvest in an Earth Mother fashion.

I shall return to read through properly but though I saw mention of weaning .
