MrsG I have lost my way in this thread a bit and I don't know why you're going to hospital etc. Please can someone update me?

mrsgboring · 08/09/2009 12:30

Hello or rather goodbye all am just about to be off.

Boff, Edmund has a CCAM (benign lung tumour) and pulmonary sequestration which was diagnosed at the 20 week scan and was very scary at the time, as it had a weird vascular structure and was large enough to displace his heart to the right hand side of his body. It has since then been getting steadily better, thank God and it's now hopefully a relatively simple keyhole surgery to remove the affected lung tissue and allow the healthy lung to expand into its place.

Right DS1 has to go to nursery and that means action stations for me. Thank you all for your lovely support on this thread and listening to my boring rambling on.

Thinking of you, E and your family, MrsG.

dawntigga · 08/09/2009 13:12

Wishes good luck to all of you esp Mrsg!

Popping in and out again fast, just off to get kids in a mo.

Thinking of you MrsG, hope you have E's dressing gown all packed .

Ginger, I'll waive copyright in exchange for a copy of yr story. Deal?

Well, expressing BM in a French university is fairly grim: there is nowhere to do it. Tried to see the nurse this morning to ask if she knew of anywhere, but she was away. Found an empty tutorial room, ensured no one could see through windows, locked myself in, dribbled milk on the desks and then went to put EBM in staff fridge. Had never opened it before; it is vile. Unutterably revolting.
There is no hot water in the loo basins, and no soap.
So if I can find somewhere to express I'll have to ask the nurse if I can store my EBM in her (presumably clean) fridge, but risk her being out when I need to rush in and get it after work. And I can't wash my pump in anything other than cold water over a dubious washbasin.

I may stage a protest by doing a pump-in with that hands-free one Boff linked to, in the university courtyard on the day when all the depts have their welcome meetings for new students.
Then again, maybe not.

I had lunch. In a restaurant. With a nice colleague. No children. No spew stains. No scolding to be done.
Bliss.

BoffinMum · 08/09/2009 16:38

Crikey, MrsG. Hope that goes OK. Cross about hospital's assumption baby is on formula.

Auld, IMO what you need is your own travel kettle for sluicing out pumps and bottles, and a small thermo-electric coolbag that cools to as near as 4 degrees as possible, then you will not need to rely on anyone for anything. A Mobicool S28 Cool Bag (12V/Mains) should do it - it can plug into mains or car. Faculty are getting me one and it costs about £60.

BoffinMum · 08/09/2009 16:40

BTW if I book a bus who is interested in going over to France for a collective Fanjo Warrior pump-in?

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 08/09/2009 17:02

rushing in but bebemoo the throwing up is very common with teeth - I think it's down to all the extra dribble they swallow. Orbit has been a pukey pants since his teeth started,

Second tooth nearly all the way through hooray!

bronze · 08/09/2009 17:22

I would but I havent managed to grin and bear pumping this time

Swaliswan · 08/09/2009 20:17

I need chocolate! And somebody to make my velcro baby go to sleep without a boob in her mouth and stay asleep! She's grumbling over the monitor as we speak for the second time tonight.

I would settle for some good French cheese though. Who needs a pump to express? we could all just hand express and 'accidentally' squirt some milk at anyone who protests!

frekkles · 08/09/2009 20:30

i'm so bored of this having a baby lark. bored, tired and fed up!

back to work tommorow. ho hum

bronze · 08/09/2009 23:04

Frekkles - good luck with the return to work today. I'm sure that working again will relieve the boredom of the baby lark!

Is everyone going back to work? What am I going to dooooooo?

Okay, so the cheese is Italian, but I thought it might cover both options! How is Velcro Beth today?

WFH - any news from Tooth Watch?

Hurrah for sandwiches and other lunches with grown-ups!

Bread was rather successful, even if I do say so myself, and not terribly affected by the lack of salt.
Hugo seemed to feed for the entire night last night. Every time he started to doze off his arms would windmill, waking him up, and he'd start eating again. Ho hum. More milk can only be a good thing. Will try for a nap this afternoon.

Has everyone voted for Martha? You just need to send a one-word e-mail!

sadly too true.
I have no qualifications, practically no experience, worked from 16 til just 22 only, and brain is ceasing to function.
