thanks for reminding me brett...

Moo has woken with sniffles and freezing cold hands and a whine .... Does anyone else's baby wake with cold hands? The rest of her is plenty warm, it's just her hands which are cold because her room's cool. Is putting mittens on her when she sleeps silly?

Guimauve · 04/09/2009 10:57

Surely it's not an Hb of 2? I don't think you'd be with us (plus wrong range for Hb). Must be ferritin or something else.

Tig - I suppose they were thinking of how hot, steamy drinks can help soothe throat/ cough, but don't think I'd give a baby water so hot it was steaming - dodgy advice or what? Also hope your bm doesn't steam
Have you tried sitting in a steamy bathroom?

Bebe - H has cold hands. His sleep suits have the fold-over scratch mits, so when the nights are cooler I do put them on him!

In a steamy bathroom with Sam, of course, not just randomly sitting in steamy bathroom for fun.

oooh babies are picking on me today!!! i think they are tag teaming me (unless that is something rude? i am not sure...)

The minute one settles the other starts up! eughhhhh. So i am ignoring them (in a safe way).

Ollie especially always has cold hands and feet apparently it is quite normal and as long as tummy is nice and toasty all is well. (although make sure is feet and legs dont go really cold cos that can mean something else.)

Steamy bathrooms all the way. I am in the Gui camp that most other stuff is useless!

I also agree the HB of 2 musnt be right. I had a hb of 5.9 just after my c section which cued much panic so they must have been talking bout another test.

Has everyone heard about poor TrinityRhino? So, so sad Puts so many of our worries into perspective.

My parents are visiting for the weekend! I am very much looking forward to it. It is the Hop Festival in town, so weather permitting we'll have a nice out-and-about weekend.

Anyone got any nice plans for the weekend?

Quiet here today....

..though Nutty will be back soon!

And where has BB gone again? It's not good enough, all these people having Real Lives!

OP posts:
kazkiss · 04/09/2009 11:37

what is the trinity rhino... ( i shall google?)

Am glad things are goin ok for nutty!

Gui - did you get my mail about the slingy thing?

kazkiss · 04/09/2009 11:38

OOH gosh yes i did know about TR> How absolutely bloody awful!!! cant even begin to imagine...

brettgirl2 · 04/09/2009 11:51

I must admit, even to me it sounded low (but then I'm in no way a medic)

Guimauve · 04/09/2009 12:15

Hurrah for thunder thighs!!!

OP posts:
brettgirl2 · 04/09/2009 12:33

I know, it's the area where I have always been 'well endowed'!!!!!

dawntigga · 04/09/2009 12:49

Talked to my friend who designs clinical trials - I do not have much faith in otc 'medicine' as they are made so the lowest common demonator can take them and not over dose. Am firmly staying in the sleep as much as we want, I'll take plenty of fluids and Sam can eat whenever he feels like it camp. So, a normal day then

Some of you may recall my stay in hospital to have Sam was not the best. I wrote a 9 page complaint letter and now the head of mifwifery[sp?] is coming to see me next Tuesday. That could have something to do with the fact I sent the letter to the Chief Executive, the head of Maternity, the head of Paediatrics and Unicef (they are applying for baby friendly status). we'll see how that goes!

Does anyone have any thought's on B getting worse? I've updated the thread here.

bronze · 04/09/2009 12:59

Gui- I love you.

Even when I was skinny I biked a lto and have always had large thighs. Always was envious of those whose calves were about the same size as their thighs. Now I wont be

Feierabend · 04/09/2009 13:00

Today is one of those days where I wish I hadn't had children

H has got eczema. DD1 won't listen to ANYTHING I say, and woke H up earlier, so now H is cranky and crying and won't go back to sleep. I didn't get a chance to sit down and have lunch

Sorry for me post.

Feierabend · 04/09/2009 13:01

Gui, doc has prescribed Eumovate.

Guimauve · 04/09/2009 13:12

Feier - sorry you're having a rough day. Try not to worry, it might not be eczema, hard to tell, I imagine, at this early stage. At least the doc has gone straight in with the good stuff. Don't scrimp on the emollients!

Swali - how does B seem in herself today? Is she reasonably perky when she's awake? Don't let them fob you off, demand to see a doc again today.

OP posts:
Feierabend · 04/09/2009 13:25

Swali hope B is okay. I'd insist they see her straight away. BEST OF LUCK XXX

Gui thanks for reassurance. Will knock it right on the head with two doses of the steroid ointment today, or is that too much?

DD1 watching a dvd now and H dozing on my breast so things feel calmer. Sometimes lazy parenting is the only way forward...

Big thighs here too!

Swaliswan · 04/09/2009 13:26

Sometimes she is fine and other times she is not at all right. She's quite sleepy and wants lots of cuddles. She is really struggling to swallow when feeding.

Feierabend · 04/09/2009 13:27

Oh Swali

JumeirahJane · 04/09/2009 13:27

Swali - concerned for you and DD, hope all turns out ok keep us posted.

Tigga - sending virtual Kleenex and sympathy.

Bebe - can't believe doc didn't pick up on that sooner. Better late than never. Take it easy if you can

Feeling quite inadequate about my boring ol' BabyBjorn after hearing about all your fab slings and things , but M is quite comfy in hers and I suppose that's all that matters. I'm not proud.

Got to IKEA, had the Antilop in stock, but not getting the tray attachments til end Sept, wtf?

We did resist the Dime bars at the counter though - DH also getting into this healthier eating malarkey in the interests of lowering my weight and blood pressure by doctors orders. Does that mean I'm allowed extra brownies (sorry, brownie points) later?

Yep saw the TR post, just horrible, poor thing, however can anyone cope with that sort of loss. So for her and her kids.

bebemoo · 04/09/2009 14:14

not sure if it's hb of 2...all I know is that she said my iron count was 2 and usually 15-30 is normal/good. She said if it had been say 13 then there would only be a little concern and they'd be doing more tests, but since it was so low she really felt that was the problem as everything else they tested for came back normal to positive high.
She did say she wasn't surprised I was feeling so low and that it would be having a knock on effect which is hard(er) to determine without more tests. And she stressed that I was to eat meat twice a day (which I've never heard any doctor say before) as well as take the pills. She also asked about my menstration since the pregnancy and whether or not I felt faint often. (I've been feeling very faint/sick when I go in lifts and on escalators) Then she stressed again that I'm not to miss any meals.

bebemoo · 04/09/2009 14:19

Swali I think I'd be going into the GP too... I just would go in and say 'look I'm really nervous about this and she's not acting quite right...' make them explain why it's happening until it feels right and secure in your own mind.

bebemoo · 04/09/2009 14:21

we've got a second tooth almost through... i can see the texture of it under the gums...
