My god, is this the quietest the August mums have ever been?

Although on that note, I'm off to bed in a minute so night night

hotterpotter · 04/09/2009 22:44

I'm drunk again but in my defence I needed the anaesthetic qualities of booze to numb me for my first attempt at leg-waxing Apart from my hairy knees which I forgot, am quite pleased with the results, and it didn't even hurt that much!

Hope you are all having a lovely evening

TwilightSurfer · 04/09/2009 22:59

Hotter you look HOTTER now.

Hello everyone,

Just at the end of a week on holiday at home with DS and DH. Some really lovely moments, but mostly still quite hard work. I guess that this is what having children is all about.

But anyway, TS are you feeling short on lists at the moment? Your TTC list made me laugh a bit, and remember some of my old friends who used to save up thinking of lists for me because I enjoy them so much ...

Some of my favourite lists:

List of world leaders (and can you name more world leaders or big brother contestants?) - this came from the guardian a few years ago I think.

List of states in the US (always fun)

List of police forces in England and Wales

List of the seven deadly sins, and the seven (I think) sacrements

Lists of Provinces in Argentine (23)

List of towns beginning with B

List of towns ending in cester

Oh well this list of lists has cheered me up no end, I was feeling quite down.

Will go off and make macaroni cheese with squash, onion and no salt.

Happy birthday and thoughts to all.

lwfh · 05/09/2009 00:41

PS 25 weeks pregnant now, worried about how things will be with the new baby, but we are still very happy. Some kicks and a big belly, but both feel less than with DS. Am sure that she will be a beautiful calm quiet baby who sleeps brilliantly, doesn't need to be constantly picked up, and will entertain herself.

lwfh · 05/09/2009 01:38

PPS thank you again sazzles for your car seat solution. This is exactly what we are going to do. Tom's godmother (I am sure ) will be more than happy to bring a car seat with her when she comes to visit in November. Hurrah.

lwfh · 05/09/2009 01:39

sacrament, not sacrement

TwilightSurfer · 05/09/2009 02:46

LWFH I guess I must be feeling a bit lost without lists. LOL!

You sound like you are doing lovely and I should agree that "she" will be quite the easy child. Do we have a name for her yet? (...I can't remember}

Must go to bed. Playing with Skype and FB has made me crosseyed. DH just phoned from the ballpark (sounding a bit drunk) to let me know the game was in the 7th inning. I'm sure that's code for how much longer the game will last but I'm not sports oriented so it's completely lost on me. I did tell him I'd drive into town and get him if he needed a ride. He replied in his soberist voice, "no no no i'm good." HE BETTER BE!

See you all on the flipside.

god am demented ALREADY today - this does not look promising for the rest of the day DD1 going away for the majority of the day with the rainbows so its just me and the smaller two whilst dh sleeps. At least its decided to stop chucking it down this morning, so far at least, am not optimistic though

lets hope this turns into a surprisingly lovely day with the girls - despite the odds

oopsacoconut · 05/09/2009 08:13

Morning Dizzy can you take them swimming in the garden

I have just realised he time and DD hasn't had brekker yet. So fruit plate, yogurt and toast all round.

Have a good Saturday everyone.

dizzydixies · 05/09/2009 08:20

it would also appear that Dylan is not going to be happy today unless held

hotterpotter · 05/09/2009 08:33

Good luck with that then Dizz [achey arms] Your DD2 is a strong girl, couldn't you get her to carry DD3 around . I must admit when DS gets like that I bung him in the Mei Tai and carry on mning with housework

I have a happy 1-year old and a soon-to-be-strangled 3 year old she has been whining almost constantly since 7am. Thought she would sleep in after getting overtired at MIL's and having a minor meltdown at bedtime but no, unless you call 6.45 a sleep-in.

Off to get them dressed and nip round to feed my friend's cat. It's lovely and sunny here today so am trying to get as much washing done as possible, there's loads . Wish I had a lovely new red machine

dizzydixies · 05/09/2009 08:36

wish we had some sun I suppose I should just be glad its stopped raining

hotterpotter · 05/09/2009 10:04

One load on the line and another in the machine but now it has really clouded over and could rain any minute

RedLentil · 05/09/2009 11:40

Do you need any rescue remedy there Dizz?

TS - that washing machine has given me a very rare case of . It keeps popping unbidden into my mind.

DH has taken all three children out and I'm in a tizz about what to do with the time off. Too many things that have to be done and I'd like to do.

Lwfh- how did you get to 25 weeks ?
I found it very hard to imagine the second baby, and couldn't imagine that I'd find the love there in the same way as I had for DS because it just seemed impossible to find as much love again. But it all worked out.

DD2 is growing up so fast. I was looking at a Paddington counting book with DD1 who is obsessed with counting at the moment.

1 was Paddington so DD2 happily pointed to the bear. 2 was shoes so I asked 'where are the shoes?' just to keep her involved.

The poor popped looked puzzled, then trudged off into another room to the shoe cupboard and came back with DD1's sandal.

The three were in great form while DH was away, thank God. Though there was a moment where I was in the loo with DD2 sitting on my knee so she didn't cry and DS was sobbing outside the door telling me about a game of Pop up Pirate that had ended in violence.

Right, I think I'll cut the grass. I may be gone some time.

LoveBuckets · 05/09/2009 11:57

Surprisingly productive moring so far, I decided against initial plan of taking all 3 kids to Asda singlehanded in favour of a bath with DS1 (and robot friend Oh-one-zero) and packing sleepover kits. Crisps and homemade carrot cake for lunch woohoo.

So after lunch I am escaping foodshopping via a few charity shops in search of a rumptopf jar. I have 2lbs of plums and rumtopf looks like the lazy housewife's choice.

Oh and 500 Days of Summer was excellent, quirky like Amelie but funny and charming and different. It's got the kid from Third Rock from the Sun in it who is really quite cute (and probably older than me actually.)

TS The other girl probably has older siblings - Kurt and Reese will probably be terrible influences on their PFB peers. I just knew it hadn't come out of DD's head as I can generally see right in the top of it LOL.

RedLentil · 05/09/2009 12:04

That sounds like a lovely day Buckets.

It really is lovely to hear about DS's imaginative play. Perhaps less lovely to hear about dd's picture .

We had one of DS's friends here yesterday and he has older foster siblings. His sister was he informed me 'getting married' that evening (She was going to her 'debs' party).

And apparently 'there'll be kissing with tongues and everything.'

I was inconsolable with laughter and totally failed to pull a responsible parent face.

Our elderberry syrup is fabby by the way. I added in some cardamon pods too.

The rumtof (?) sounds gorgeous.

TwilightSurfer · 05/09/2009 13:24

Happy Birthday Jamie!

With sickness gone, nights are returning to normal. I actually slept. Amazing.

Buckets I'm taking a cue from you. I need to pick up a few things so I've told the girls to get dressed. Only one can dress herself but I can dream, right.

Red, please don't be that blasted thing has run nonstop since it was delivered. And today is linens day. It causes WORK.

TwilightSurfer · 05/09/2009 13:53

Lucky sends her love and will return to MN soon. Here AF arrived yesterday, a bit late but welcome.

You ladies and your work that interfers with MNing....work needs to get a clue!

OP posts:
RedLentil · 05/09/2009 14:20

That's great news for Loti.

Glad to hear that things are getting back to normal there too TS.

I managed to miss saying happy birthday to Felix. So happy birthday to Felix and Jamie ...

VG - that is great news about getting some time to yourself. Did you make any progress with plans on creating a proper work-space too?

DD1 is only going to playgroup once a week and I still have DD2 then, so there's no chance of getting anything done.

There is no option, day or night, at the moment of any kind of childcare that leaves me childfree. DH has so much work on that he works 6 days a week and part of day 7 too.

While DD2 is so clingy this makes for a strong sensation of suffocation.

Which reminds me Dizzy, DH has explained to me that it is perfectly possible to mind three small children without ever raising your voice. Do feel free to contact him directly with your views on this insight.

Lwfh- when DS is 2 next summer, your holidays will feel holidayish again because he will be able to join in better and it will feel all familyish and lovely. Holidays with first-born babies are odd things.

I have cut the grass and washed up. Now what?

poppysocks · 05/09/2009 16:57

f vrxb4eeeeeeeeeeeeeeax Those are Emily's considered thoughts.

Phew LOTI!

Your energy never ceases to amaze me red.

Rather dramatic day yesterday. DH's laser eye surgery was moved to Edinburgh as the place he was supposed to go to was flooded so not the best start. After a massive delay he had it done and all appeared well. Just as we were leaving though he fainted and when he hit the ground cracked his head open and was knocked out. Cue lots of blood, unconscious DH, ambulance, sirens and an A&E visit. Just what none of us wanted, but particularly didn't want DD1 to see. The staff at the clinic and in the hospital were great at trying to shelter her in particular, but still she understood a fair bit and it was pretty scary for her... . DH sewn up and thoroughly checked out and seems no real problems. He can now see perfectly out of one eye and the other one is huge and very black but should be fine.

dizzydixies · 05/09/2009 18:52

bloody hell Poppy - last time I recommend anything to you!!! get some arnica into him

Red - I fear your DH may not take to me at all

TwilightSurfer · 05/09/2009 20:33

Dizzy said it best, "Bloody Hell Poppy!" That would have completely freaked me out. Glad all is better today.

Red does your DH intend on going the conference circuit route with his parenting tech-neek? If so, I'd like front row tickets (bag of tomatoes in tow).

I'm in a foul mood today and DH is the reason. That's all I shall say.

As you were...

cyteen · 05/09/2009 21:08

Buckets have you seen Brick? Joseph Gordon Levitt stars in that too, and he is hot [unashamed]

Lentil I am in stitches picturing your DD2 trudging off to the shoe cupboard

Am MNing from the ILs as DP is out at a stag night in town...have had many texts saying he is drunk and that he misses us both I meanwhile am having a lovely time on the sofa with wine and chat
