Sambo Have you done the classic female thing there and inferred an accusation of neglect that wasn't actually said? I.e. he trying to come up with quick-fix solutions in the classic man style (ignoring the idea that you may be more well-read and have been talking to other mums for a year) and not having a clue that the notion could be extrapolated into that meaning. Eg from my own relationship, DH once said "We should eat more healthily", I translated it as "you're trying to kill me with saturated fat" and cried for 2 days before I could tackle him about it. He was gobsmacked and had actually meant he should eat more healthily when not at home. And of course he hadn't even noticed how angry or upset I had been for 48hrs!

Lentil I split and butter rolls then stick them in a big bag in the freezer. In the mornings I grab one, bash it on the worktop, chuck in a slice of ham and bung it in a lunchbox to thaw out by lunchtime. Keeps yoghurts cool too.

I've just eaten a big doorstop sandwich as a snack on top of a big bowl of pasta for tea. I blame this carb-craving on being pre-menstrual (day 28 but my cycle has been getting longer so I'm guessing Saturday night when camping in a fecking field?) Luckily have found my mooncup in a toybox

DS1 was a delight all day tying his little stormtrooper figure (called Oh-one-zero) to everything with an old kitestring / crabline. "Mummy Barnes Mummy Barnes I'm hangiiiiiing..." I am loving his newfound toy friends, that they speak to me and that he always has company.

hotterpotter · 03/09/2009 21:17

So sorry I don't have much time to post at the moment, am still knackered after the weekend [shandy] and there just don't seem to be enough hours in the day. Bloody work

Glad you have got today over with Sazz, surely you won't be always in London? A 6-hour commute doesn't sound good, unless you get paid travelling time

Buckets eek camping with a mooncup good luck! Lovely to hear how DS1 is coming along too. I'm sure the diagnosis of autism must cause so much fear, but you are all doing such a brilliant job

Dizzy I hope you manage to stick to your guns and refuse any extra responsibilities

Ann sorry DP is being an arse How's the driving coming on? I have my theory test in 2 weeks First driving lesson in three weeks on Monday too, hope I can remember what to do...

Got to go already I do manage to keep up while I'm at work but apart from the odd HotMama update I can't really post. Thinking of you all though

poppysocks · 03/09/2009 21:53

Buckets you make do me laugh. LOL at the mooncup in the toybox.

Glad to hear you're using your work time constructively sazzles . Hope it didn't take you as long to get home though.

Good luck on dodging the folder and the encroaching North Sea Dizzy. I think we're into about hour 18 of non-stop rain here and guessing it's the same as you. We'll need a canoe to get out tomorrow at this rate. DH having his eyes done tomorrow on your recommendation btw.

Sorry F is still not 100% sambo, but glad R seems to be coming right now TS.

on your behalf oops. Well done though on getting things sorted though.

Great to hear you're getting more babysitting sorted VG. Our lovely babysitter graduated in June and the new one she recommended isn't back for another fortnight so we've been without our usual fortnightly or so nights out and have soooo missed it. Got our next night sorted today though so on a countdown to 19th now. Woohoo!

Your day makes me feel tired just thinking about it red.

poppysocks · 03/09/2009 21:57

Hi hp [waves]

Sorry ann - forgot to send lots of sympathy your way for DS's grumping. E has been terrible in the last few days too. DH came home from work today saying that she'd grown since this morning so hopefully that's what the problem was . V. excited (and a teensy bit ) about the TTC. Keep us posted!

TwilightSurfer · 03/09/2009 22:54

evening. fed kids crap taco bell for dinner and stopped at the bakery for cupcakes and cookies (although i got a piece of apple cake). dh called and i told him to fend for himself but that we'd saved one cupcake for him. shall i put on my bad mummy crown now (or did i even take it off from last time).

hp you are working too hard. it is unnecessary. mediocrity is the norm.

i am of poppy and vg with their talk of sitters (and obviously places to go thus needing sitters). i should look into a life as well.

besides ann, who else is ttc at the moment so we can keep track. i realize we are waiting on sarahn to have a visit from af but she wasn't trying. vg are you?? miamla?? oops, you are waiting for medical reasons, correct?? dizzy are you?? i am asking because although i chickened out of having more i still hold a very romantic idea of how nice it might have been. i look forward to all the baby news so i can live vicariously through you.

OP posts:
poppysocks · 03/09/2009 23:09

TS - I'm with you entirely. Love knowing of others TTC and romantically of the idea of another lovely little one. In the real world though very happy with what I've got and even happier to share the excitement of others .

dizzydixies · 03/09/2009 23:13

no TS not me. there is too much going on for us at the moment to even consider it - we've decided to hold off on discussing it until next year because if we DID decide to have a 4th we'd need a bigger house/car etc and there is no way I'm having 3 not in school. If I got pregnant next year by the time DC4 arrived, DD2 would be in school and Dylan would be at nursery so some respite somehow - not that I've thought it all through or anything

we've got a night out on the 25th and I am dreading it - means having to be out in public and dressing accordingly - not sure my mummy/school run joggers & converse will suffice [meep]

meeting was a bit of a nonsense and I came home annoyed for all the wrong reasons - no new folder though

DH away to work, washing done and emails sent so I'm off to bed - night all

TwilightSurfer · 04/09/2009 01:15

Dizzy I'm going out the same night. Girls Night Out!! Cool. If only we were in the same place we could "meet up." LOL!

You've done some very good planning with consideration of dc4. With the way you run things now it should be a perfect situation in every way.

Is it crazy of me to have sat in front of my new washing machine and watched an entire cycle? Both girls joined me. Reese thought it was the funniest thing she'd ever seen and kept laughing out loud and pointing. It makes me feel good that for the fortune I spent we can get some quality family entertainment out of it too.

NezLiquide · 04/09/2009 03:04

Red your monkey impression story is so much funnier though!

TS it is odd - I also had a dash to the bathroom moment last night so wondering whether it is in fact something more than the jabs. I kept asking DS yesterday whether he had a stinky bum and obviously said it way too much as he turned round to me and said bum mental note to start being more careful with what I say.

On TTC DH seems a bit more keen than me at the moment (I think probably in the first T not the TC . I want to wait till after DBs wedding in April by which time I will be miraculously svelte and suntanned to fit into my bridesmaids dress (more likely overweight and red).

Sazz well done on surviving and getting through so many things on your list. Hope the journey time decreases soon.

steaknife · 04/09/2009 06:52

need more sleep! I've been awake since three dd since four. Slowly getting things sorted. Have read but not remembered much. Sambo sorry yous dh is being an arse. Hope he sees sense soon and that F is better. T'ra for now.

oopsacoconut · 04/09/2009 07:32

Morning Steaky - Get ye to bed and nap!!!

DD woke at 12 and DH went in to sort her as he still had the monitor downstairs we managed to wake her right up [grr] so I went in and fed her and she eventually went back to sleep. For all about 10 minutes I went in and got her settled with another small feed, back to bed and 15minutes later she was awake again so I did the lie down, pat and shhhhh it wrnt in wierd cycles of screaming blue murder, gently sobbing, quiet sucking muzzy, back to the start it took 25 minutes but she went off until 5 when she had a feed and slept again until 7.05.

We are going to be a bit manic this morning I had forgotten DD has swimming this morning so after they gym it is straight to swimming then to NCT lunch poor child will be exhausted!

TS - on the TTC front we have been given the go ahead by the consultant but I am not keep to be pregnant on these drugs as there are risks and I don't want consultant led care. We have also decided that we don't want any 'big' medical interventions to get there so if it happens naturally or with tablets it's fine and if it doesn't it's fine too. There is too much stress in fertility treatment for 2 adults nevermind adding a toddler to the mix who has not idea why i turn into a moody old bat! Please all remind me of this once DD is older and I have a mad moment or 2.

Dizzy - good news on the JUST SAY NO campaign.

Poppy and VG - very of your nights out, our only babysitters are the ILs so out of principle we will not be going out for a while.

HP - Theory test now and practical test in no time at all. Soon you will be on the roads like a pro.

Ann - hope small boy has settled and you had a peaceful night.

off to get brekker - muesli and grapefruit all round.

sambo303 · 04/09/2009 09:40

Good morning, my baby is one!! And refusing to nap, dp has wheeled him to the shops so I can mn hidy before friends arrive for cake at 11. I made ultimate carrot cake (idea nicked from Cyteen).

steak hope you are snoozing

sazzles are you working today too?

oops thanks for brekker, enjoy the gym me time

buckets ooo camping, sounds lovely. yes probably miscommunication plays a part, dp told me last night all my ideas are 1/4 ideas and we dont understand each other because we never have proper converations today ds was crying not napping and I said i was not going to bf him as I am weaning him off day time bfs and dp said we should have bottle fed him then we would have had no problems as he could feed him when I refused.

cyteen · 04/09/2009 10:15

How helpful of him, sambo! [prat] Oh well, happy birthday to your lovely boy. Enjoy the cake and any emotional moments that may come

TS no ttc here yet, we're enjoying life settling down a bit and enjoying DS for now. Think I will suggest firmly that we start again after the wedding next year

dizzy well done on the folder dodge.

just passing by quickly... VG i almost said, yes, definitely, i'll be there but then realised that my knee op is on the 11th and i'll still be on crutches
don't suppose you fancy extending your visit via london?

happy birthday felix!!!!!

right, sorry to hi and bye but DS not happy

LoveBuckets · 04/09/2009 12:58

Sambo But now he's one he doesn't need formula, what's he on about? How about if you give him a big carby evening meal to fill him up - would that tempoarily shut up your DH? And Happy birthday Felix!

VG Gutted, we are chocka that weekend, would love to bunk off and come play with you guys!

Sainsbourg's magazine has a cupcake masterclass and a fab-looking veg curry recipe. Cyteen had you thought about having cupcakes for your wedding or can you not be seen to copy your mate?

cyteen · 04/09/2009 13:15

Buckets fortunately I have a friend who makes fabulous occasion cakes so am getting her to do it (although did consider the cupcake idea as I like the variety/cheapness). We're still mulling over what to have...need a tentacle or two in the decoration, I reckon

LoveBuckets · 04/09/2009 17:16

Well, DD went in to school crying again but came out chuckling away at a picture she'd drawn of a naked lady pooing and weeing. Finally weedled out of her that another girl had suggested the amendments to her initially innocent picture.

Have requested DH to bring home chips for tea then I will tell him I'm bussing into town to see 500 Days of Summer with my friend woohoo. Then tomorrow night we are camping sans enfants for this Zimbabwean drum / ukulele / bbq minifest thingy.

TwilightSurfer · 04/09/2009 17:51

CHILD-FREE! Buckets you are not on my good list today either. Kinda strange that friend of your dd1, no?

Speaking of friends...I met the mother of the little boy my dd1 talks about constantly. Seems he talks about her constantly too. How cute is that! His mother and I are one of three room mothers for their kindergarten class.

REESE is down for a nap. YAY!! She's finally getting back to her old sleep schedule. The schedule she had while sick was about to do me in.

VG - we are around that weekend - auction on Saturday but otherwise we are free. Do you have transport or would you like a lift from the airport? Staying anywhere nice. Bath is great and 99% of things are within walking of most hotels.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY* FELIX sorry I missed that this morning I was being brainless!

Sazzles - Enjoy your wedding.
