hello everyone. toy shopping went very well, we plumped for the wooden trike and trailer from ELC on the basis that granny is getting her the wooden trolley. Very pleased to see it getting good reviews here!! I think i may check out ebay for a couple of other things as i have eyes bigger than my wallet!!

MM, good luck today (fo shizzle.. or something)

50ftQueenie · 07/09/2009 08:52

KSal - You sound about as 'hip' as me! I still don't know what to get M. We got her this on eBay for less than half the brand new price. It's soooooo girly but ds insisted that he wanted to get it for her. I am going to get her some Huggalugs (thank you for that Myjob) and maybe a Connecta baby carrier, but they won't be real presents, just an excuse to get things I want. Plus I have a 30% off voucher for Gap. Oh, does anyone want me to forward the details about that offer? I'll need e-mail addresses...... It runs from the 10th -13th Sept.

Pistachio - I would love to meet your tiny dd, but I would be scared about seeing M the monster next to her! It would demonstrate just how burly my poor hefty little girl really is. Seeing her with N was bad enough....... Between now and Christmas we have: DH's birthday, M's birthday, FIL's 60th, my brother's 30th, MIL's 60th and my mum's (not a big one) birthday! Expensive!

Thank you Myjob on both counts. It is the best picture isn't it?

Stop mentioning Christmas! I'm getting all excited. I love Christmas.......

We're not big on presents at our house. We usually just get one special (not overly expensive) thing for each other and anyone else for bdays. Christmas a few, never go overboard with "stuff". We might get Q the first trampoline thing - how long do they use that for? We think he'd love it. I want to find a cheapo one, though.

star6 · 07/09/2009 10:59

M is the cutest one, 50ft. And so is her nappy!! What a sweet pic - lovely smile

Guimauve · 07/09/2009 11:53

Hey Fiddy! I shall sneakily also vote for M from other addresses!

The Bumbo would be fab, thank you, though as you know we'll probably have to wodge him into it. We do, however, already have the Ladybird spinning thing It is hilarious, though he has almost managed to roll off it onto his head.

Will I arrange for DH to pop round? Or perhaps we could all come for a quick visit at the weekend?

Hope your scan is over swiftly. Perhaps try some hypnobirthing techniques while you're in there.

Thank you ladies, as you were.

star6 · 07/09/2009 12:39

Q is walking faster and faster now. Pitter patter of little feet. It's SOOOOO cute! He's really good, too. He used to get down and crawl sometimes still if he fancied it, but now he walks more than crawls... it's totally amazing how he can move things out of his way, turn things around... pick things up... transformation is really wicked.

Congrats pistachio.

Anyone - any advice on how to stop a baby feeding during hte night? Last night Q got up and wanted milk twice before his morning feed. He's been wanting it for past few weeks, too at around 2am or 3am and then 5am or 6am (when he wakes for the day).
I want to STOP all night feeding. Do I do the controlled crying for that, as well? Just like we did for the settling to sleep at the start of the night? I feel badly if he's hungry, but he eats plenty during the day, so he should be ok... and he's quite chubby/healthy . I tried giving a bottle of water or a cup of water - he wants the breast.
Problem is, he's in our room still (one bed flat! no way around it!) and when he wakes and sees me, he just cries longer and louder. Maybe DH and I have to go out into the living room and sleep when he does that? ugh, help please! I'm exhausted!!

star6 · 07/09/2009 13:15

Oh and no, I can't feed him more during the day. He's down to 2 feeds. Morning and bedtime (and the ones he sneaks in through the night). I want to stop at 12 months so I don't want to add any feeds (mastitis worries are very real for me after having it several times). In fact, will be dropping the bedtime one in a few weeks...
and might keep JUST the morning feed for a few more months

50ftQueenie · 07/09/2009 14:04

I'm going to have a nightmare tonight Star. M isn't allowed to bfed for 24 hours....hang on, I mean DH is going to have a nightmare tonight! I'm going to sleep downstairs as it would be far too unkind for M to see me and hear me and smell me (not that I am smelly of course ) & not be allowed milk. M still has one or two feeds in the night, depending on how tired she is. She then normally wakes for the day anytime between 6 and 7.30. I don't know if when she will drop the night feeds. It may now just be habit rather than a need.

50ftQueenie · 07/09/2009 14:06

Damn! I keep doing that. I have a problem with premature posting.

Pistachio - Fabulous! It must be great to actually see the benefit of your work in your times coming down. How motivating!

50ftQueenie · 07/09/2009 20:45

Evening. Anybody here? I had my scan. It was like something from the film 2001! M was very upset about not having mummy milk and cuddles, she screamed the house down. She only went to sleep when I cuddled her and let her suck on my finger. She wasn't impressed at all. Poor poor little thing.

CantSleepWontSleep · 07/09/2009 20:57

Awwww, poor M.
When do they think you'll get the scan results?

OP posts:
50ftQueenie · 07/09/2009 21:09

I was told it is usually 7-10 days so hopefully I won't hear before then.

Poor M was so confused. When I picked her up she was all shacky and so happy to see me. She has been a grumpy madam today so I knew tonight was going to be awful. Tomorrow is going to be bad too, she likes a little cuddle with me. I feel so horrible, which I know is totally irrational.

pepperrabbit · 07/09/2009 21:31

Poor little M, though upsetting as it is now for you (and her) of course she won't really remember in a few days.
Had a quiet day here, Ds2 had his first full day at pre-school which he seemed to enjoy, tho was under the misconception that now he'd done a full day there, he was allowed to go to Big School with DS1 tomorrow...
Anyway, after school they annoyed me so much I was feeling a little frazzled by bed time and took my revenge by reading a scary story in my most sinister voice.....I know it's childish, but it made me feel better, not heard a squeak out of them since.
DD was lovely though, she settled really well at nursery last week for her 2 days, ate loads, slept well and didn't seem to miss me. She was super tired though after poor thing.

aubergenie · 07/09/2009 22:02

Just popping in. Poor M, and poor you 50ft. Bet you can't wait till you can feed her again.

Star - There is some information here about stopping feeding at night. It's based on co-sleepers but I imagine it could be applied in any situation. A friend of mine has a baby who woke every hour to feed and she tried it with really good results.

Got to go to bed. I'm so tired, my eyes are all goggly.

50ftQueenie · 07/09/2009 22:31

Awwww Pepper, how cute of ds2. You're very brave reading a scary story. I would be worried that I would be up all night with crying frightened dc! But then my ds is a big wuss.

I am indeed looking forward to feeding poor M again. It will be lovely to have a big old cuddle and snuggle with her. Should be all clear for tomorrow night. Night night Aubergenie.

Got my fingers crossed for good results for you 50FT.

Pistachio, Well done on the 10k run!!!!!!!

Aubergenie, I will have a look at that link now. Ds still feeds like a 10week old, day and night, so may help.

Hope all is well.

Knickers0nMaHead · 08/09/2009 08:00

Just read the link, will try it but I am not holding out much hope tbh. Will try it on dp's next night off.

CC has almost worked for dd. Last night it took her 10mins of crying t go to sleep. It has broken my heart doing this but I couldn't cope with two non sleeping dc.

purpleflower · 08/09/2009 08:36

Hi all,

I've got my fingers crossed for your results MM

I don't know how you find the energy to run 10k, pistachio! I struggle to walk a mile to town and get the bus instead

Things aren't too bad here. DP and I are giving things another go but he is still living with his parents and will be for at least 6 months. He is round almost everyday to help with the DCs though It's 5 years today since our first date

DD fell on sunday and scraped her gum at the top just where her tooth was about to come through. I'm hoping the tooth will be ok but can't check yet as the gum is still quite sore.

I'm not sure what we will be doing for the DC's birthdays yet. DS is 3 on the 2nd and DD is 1 on the 3rd. My nephews are 3 on the 29th sep and 1 on the 10th oct so my SIL has booked a party for them for the 4th She hasn't taken into consideration about my DC's at all and just chosen a date in the middle of hers. It means that weekend is going to be very very busy as we will have to try and do something on the Saturday now, just not sure what. Not sure what I'm going to get them yet either.

Must go, since typing this DD has pulled the cats tail, chased the kitten, got into the full mop bucket and is now after the laptop.
