LOL pistachio Q needs that!
We sometimes put Q in the shower with us... are we not supposed to?

Have fun jenwa. Sounds like a good time!

RachieW · 02/09/2009 10:54

Thanks everyone CSWS I didn't give calpol last night as I really think it was a protest about being in the cot and not teeth, I've been administering it quite often though! Apparently dh's mate who is also a Dad told him about a medicine that makes them drowsy, possibly nurofen? Being blokes names weren't discussed. Anyway dh seemed quite excited about it until I told him it sounded like he wanted to drug J to sleep Anyway after such a horrid start J slept all night, waking only twice for a little moan but each time went back to sleep with a shush from me. Am dreading tonight and my Mum is coming to stay so she can look after J tomorrow and Friday. I think it will be a bit trickier to do cc with her here, we didn't really plan it properly just fell into it last night, but we are both determined to keep going. Dh now agrees that it is more unfair to keep lifting J out of the cot to calm him then putting him back in.

Jenwa- Forgot to say yesterday but have a great time away. I'm sure the caravan will be lovely. MIL's friend has one we went too and like HMM I was amazed at how nice it was. Actually said to dh it would be great to have one, which is sooo unlike me. Shame they are so expensive.

HMM- Have a lovely time and hope those pesky teeth come through soon for P!

Pistachio- How did last night go for you? Hoping it was good or better at least.

Can really sympathise about leaving the babies, it's so hard. Feeling very sad today about work tomorrow and leaving J for good. Wish I could take him and keep him in the filing cabinet all day Dh keeps pointing out that it is not for good and of course it isn't but it feels so final in lots of ways which is silly I know. I guess it's just the end of a little era ending my maternity leave. Am dreading crying tomorrow morning and have told some friends at school that I might be very quiet. I just don't want anyone to ask me how I am in case I blub like a fool. We need to start at 8.30 with a whole school meeting so am intending to slip in at 8.29 and avoid conversation. I should be ok once things get started.

RachieW · 02/09/2009 11:06

Lol to the thudguard too! I think it was on the Apprentice, dh wanted to get one for J Not sure about the shower Star? I haven't put J in with us but there is a fountain at the swimming pool he's been under which I guess is the same type of thing? Off to Soft Play session now.

Pistachio it took me a while to get Q used to the shower too.... slowly eased him in, now he loves it.

I don't bf in the daytime anymore. He gets water with food. Only morning (4am and 6/7am) and night (before our bedtime stories). Will be dropping the night feed soon and keeping ONE morning one for as long as I want . Can babies have oatmilk at 11months? I know not cow's milk. I'm not going to give him cow's milk anyway, but thought I might start introducing oatmilk (sips here and there) now.

Rachie - it will get easier being back at work, though the change of pace is difficult. I even noticed this after my summer at home... but I could prepare for it better this time around as Q is a lot older now and I knew what to expect. Just keep busy at work and check in with J often

ronshar · 02/09/2009 13:36

Have read through but there really is far too much to remember and reply too. Except I really love In the night garden.

Star the dietian at the hospital said it was ok to give oakmillk just not as the main source of calcium. As you are still feeding then I cant see a problem with it.
Would you not worry about frying Q's brain with a mobile phone?? Especially as young as 6.
I have told DD1 that she can get a phone when she
1, has a job to pay for it
2, Goes anywhere on her own that she would need to phone me.
So far the argument is in my favour. But I can see me losing ground everyday. Children grow up so bloody fast I cant keep up.

W is a real moany boy. I think he is missing his Nanny and all the extra ladies to pick him up at every bat of his long eyelashes
I just cant wait for Monday. DD1 back to school, DD2 first day. Yipee.

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/09/2009 14:45

Dd doesn't go back to school until 14th ronshar!

star - oatmilk fine to have, just not as main drink, as not nutritious enough. Make sure that you buy the one with added calcium though (ie NOT the organic one).

Yes, thudguard was on the apprentice pistachio. Similar idea here - we laughed when we saw them at a baby show when dd was tiny.

rachie - the dads were prob discussing medised. It used to be fine from 3 months, and then they moved it to 2 years, and now it's for over 6 only, although the recipe hasn't changed, and it's not dangerous for youngsters. It's supposedly not effective, but that's frankly bollocks, and it does send some children hyper, and some parents are too stupid and give this as well as calpol. It never made much difference to dd's sleep, but it does help ds. I only give it when he's got a cold though (it contains antihistamine which is supposed to help with colds, as well as paracetamol).

It has been quiet here recently!

What a PITA packing is! I cant seem to achieve anything, every time I start I get distracted so am going to have to do it all tonight when kids in bed! I have half packed things everywhere! I cnat believe how much stuff I am taking and still waiting for tescos to come and deliver my shopping to take too! I should have had it delivered to the caravan

Pistachio poor ds and teeth..ouch! Well done with the walking though!

Went to drs this am and been signed off bit longer and MRI was all clear so no underlying problems, just wish I knew what was giving me headaches and ear pain, maybe migraines? I am going to have a relaxing week and hope they go away!

hm thanks for tip on the plastic container and using as a bath. Enjoy your spa!

Right, off to faff abit more!

Good news about the MRI Jenwa. Must be a relief for you. Hopefully a relaxing week away will really help with your headaches.

Poor teething babies. Pistachio - I can't believe how many teeth your ds has! S still only has those two tiny bottom ones, but I think the top ones are on their way.

Bit of a mad week - back to school but dp's been ill with a stomach upset so I've had to rush home to take over with S and give him a break when I really needed the time at work to sort things out, which meant going in super-early the next day and still not being able to do everything I need to. My class are nice though, and I'm sure I'm going to enjoy working with them.

That cake book arrived and I'm desperate to cook something out of it. Haven't had time yet as I need to go shopping for ingredients.
KSal - thanks for the fishcake recipe! I made them the other day and they were yum.
I made some broccoli and cheese nuggets for S today but I've eaten too many myself and now I feel a bit sick and don't fancy any dinner.

50ftQueenie · 03/09/2009 19:47

Hello. I have been slacking really badly haven't I?! I'm not going to try and reply to everyone.

Jenwa - Yay and about the MRI results. Good it's not something serious, hope the all clear result can help them narrow things down. Have a good holiday!

Pistachio - Poor little fella. M still only had a tiny bit of one tooth poking through. She has been using it to shred bits of paper though. I have my Rainbow Babies order too....

CSWS - I forgot to mention that I had received my order. The colours are gorgeous, but they look a bit enormous for M at the moment. The website pictures don't do the colours any justice.

Myjob - Hope you're loving the Itti Bittis. They are yummy aren't they? I need to do a big Bitti wash. Poor N with her collection of emerging teeth.

Aubergenie - The first thing I made was the chocolate & peanut butter cupcakes. They were soooooo yummy and even my very skeptical mum really enjoyed them. I am going to make M the birthday cake for 5 weeks time. How are you feeling now by the way?

I have my CT scan on Monday and have to drink that dye stuff. I checked to find out if I could still bfed M and it's a good job I checked. I can't feed her for 24 hours afterwards. Glad someone told me! I don't see why it's so hard for the fact that I am bfing to be put on my medical records so that they know.

jenwa · 03/09/2009 21:28

50ft wow, good job you checked that info re BF, yes surely someone should have informed you especially as you had the whole issue when admited re bf!

aubergenie sorry your DP been poorly! hopefully once back at work things will be fine.

Sooo quiet on here! is it due to us all meeting up and now no one wants to talk anymore

I am off for a bath and more bag packing.... I need a trailer I dont think all the bags will fit in the car unless we leave the children behind

RachieW · 03/09/2009 21:46

Hiya- just a quick hello. First day back at work went well but am exhausted! J loved spending the day with Mum and I didn't feel too sad today leaving him. Think it's going to be worse when he is at Nursery but today was better than I thought which is good

Controlled crying worked well last night, he settled in 10mins and then woke a few times in the night but settled quickly. He seemed to do a lot of banging his head against the cot in the middle of the night which he rarely does which was horrible. Not sure if it was a protest? Today he's settled in about 5 mins so will see how head banging goes

Pistachio- Sorry to hear about teeth. Poor baby.

Jenwa- I hate packing too. Have a great time and good news about the MRI.

50ft- eek to bf and the dye, good job you checked.

Myjob- Yay for N crawling.

Aubergenie- Glad your class seems nice and sorry to hear you've been nursing a sick dp.

Sorry to who else I forgot, must go to bed now before I fall asleep on the laptop. No idea how I will find my MN time from now on
