Pistachio- Have just sent a message on fb Clever DS!! J is showing no interest in walking, though he will cruise along the sofa to try and get the remote control

Star- Glad today was good. Have a good day at work tomorrow.

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/08/2009 21:18

Evening all. Just a quickie as about to watch an episode of House with another glass of wine.

Have been domestic goddess like today. We have had home made cake (coconut again) with the in-laws and dh's aunt and uncle, picked blackberries and stewed a mass of apples and pears picked from the in-laws orchard yesterday. Just need to sort out the bag full of plums tomorrow now.

Am looking after an additional child tomorrow, as friend was struggling for childcare, and dd will adore having her friend here for the whole day.

Helloooo! Sorry I've not been on for a few days, it's been a busy week. I haven't read as I'm about to go to bed, but I'm going away on Weds and I want your opinions. Having been in a beauty salon twice in my life (nails) I need some advice on what treatments to go for. This is the hotel and these are the treatments. Anyone got any ideas???

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/09/2009 08:28

Paraffin wax deep cleansing facial.
Back and scalp massage.

Hi all just catching up as been away for the weekend.... but without DH or Emma!! It was my first time away from her, so that was a bit strange. It was a hen do in Birmingham and we all learnt a cheerleading routine to Hey Mickey (with Pom Poms) and yes I am 34 not 24!!!

back to reality now though!!

pistachio same problem here. He walks and crawls on gravel pavement, grass anything. doesn't seem to care but his poor feet! Q fits a size 4. But we mainly use the little leather shoes (as they were given to us). We just got a pair of hard soled shoes today so I may put those on him.

Q is doing so well with his walking. He gets more stable every day... but he can't sort out how to push himself along wth his feet sitting on his little sit and go toy. He can push it standing from behind, but can't sort out how to use his feet to push along when riding it.

jenwa · 01/09/2009 19:23

ohhh HM I would def have a massage and facial but then manicures and pedicures nice, I have not had anything done for a long time. Go for the works

I am off on holiday fri, only a caravan holiday (never been before) we just need to get a way so off to somerset. I am scared to say as heard some bad reviews! Just hoping basically to have a break away with family and chill out.

Cant believe it is shoe shopping time for little ones!

ksal nice to have a child free break I bet and lol at the hey mickey routine! Did you film it

DH working late tonight. I have no wine kids in bed and I could just fancy a glass!

star6 · 01/09/2009 19:46

I'll have a glass for you, jenwa
have fun on caravan holiday... that's like camping, right?

star6 · 01/09/2009 19:53

pistachio just watched your fb video with your dd pushing ds and her talking... SOOOOO cute! I canNOT wait until Q can talk!!! I know I know I'll be regretting saying that!!

50ftQueenie · 01/09/2009 19:53

Hello hello! I am feeling much more positive today about things. Have a better understanding of what was found and have put things into perspective (if it was that serious the consultant wouldn't have even given us the option of considering another baby). Anyway enough about me. DS has been sooooo annoying today. He has really been winding up poor M. She is going to be so much happier when he goes back to school next week. M is teething tonight & being really clingy. She was really upset at bedtime and I'm not sure if it was because her teeth hurt or because she didn't want me to leave her in her cot. I gave her some medicine but she spat it all over me.

Jenwa - Have a nice holiday and good luck with the caravanning! You're a braver lady than I! I have no DH home but I fancy some cake rather than wine.

Star & Pistachio - M tries to crawl on gravel too. I took them both down to the park and M was desperate to get down. So I popped her down on the floor so she could see that it wasn't very nice, but off she went, big lumps of gravel stuck in her hands. When DS was crawling the MIL let him crawl in their new decking. It hadn't been sanded so the poor little mite came home with his legs full of splinters. I couldn't get them all out because he was sobbing so much & some got infected. Stupid b.

As you can imagine I am very much looking forward to getting M's first shoes. Exciting!!!!! DS needs school shoes & a PE kit. Hrumph.

Hmm - I agree with CSWS. Definitely a facial and scalp/back massage. I never find a full body massage that relaxing as I get paranoid about the yucky bits of my body. But a facial, back and head massage would be heaven....

star6 · 01/09/2009 19:57

I had a pregnancy massage and felt great for 20 minutes afterward (and during of course) but felt ill and had a horrid headache for the rest of the day! never again! I don't know about other spa treatments. Never done that.

50ftQueenie · 01/09/2009 20:04

Oh no Star! That's unfortunate. I had a pregnancy massage when I was pregnant with DS and it made him wiggle. It was the first time I felt him move.

star6 · 01/09/2009 20:09

DH is sewing - hemming and fixing up tears in clothes... I feel a bit weird that I've just never learned to do that.

pepperrabbit · 01/09/2009 20:25

Evening all, sorry to have been AWOL. The summer holidays have been really quite tough with the 3 of them. J is now crawling and teething which has been fairly hideous today - I'm praying it's not a bug picked up at her 1 hour settling in at nursery on Fri. I shall be gutted if she's too poorly to go for her first day on Thursday - it's my day to get a haircut and have no kids!! How selfish, I know
50ft - very sorry to hear about your news, hope a second opinion helps clear things in your mind. As you say, they wouldn't give you the No 3 option if that was very high risk.
CSWS, how awful about your mum, both the cancer and her behaviour
I'm simply existing till term starts now. My maternal mo-jo has vamoosed
Back later..

Honeymoonmummy · 01/09/2009 21:38

Thanks for the tips guys. Good to see you more positive MM. Speak to y'all when we get back, we're going first thing tomorrow

RachieW · 01/09/2009 22:23

Hi all, well an hour of screaming to sleep tonight from J so feeling pretty miserable at the moment. He is teething but am convinced this isn't the main problem today as sleep problems have been building for the last few weeks and he has been fine all day. So DH and I have agreed to try controlled crying which we don't really like but it's got to the stage where he will only fall asleep on us and then scream when he is in his cot. Not even shushing, patting, stroking, singing has worked to calm him. So dh and I sat on our bed feeling very upset listening to him crying. In the end he fell asleep leaning against the side of his cot Even though it's horrible I'm hoping this is the kinder less confusing way for him.

Went to work today briefly with J. Lots of teachers in starting to set up classrooms, we officially start on Thurs but my Nursery chn don't come in for another week so I have a bit more time to get the class sorted. Was really nice to be in and I was quite looking forward to Thursday. Feeling a bit upset about it now but I think that's just because of feeling upset about J screaming to sleep. Babies eh, they make you laugh and cry lots!

MM- So glad you are feeling more positive. Sorry my whinges are nothing in comparision. I think you are right about the Consultant giving you the option of the second baby showing that things aren't as serious as they possibly could be. Sorry to hear about M's teething, it's so nasty.

Ksal- Glad you had a good hen weekend, it's great to get a bit on non-mummy time

HMM- Am very but have a fab fab time

Pistachio- Lol for pink doodles you'll never see. Reminds me of a lovely pink jumper I had when I was about 10 that my Mum used to hide in the washing basket as she hated it!

Pepper- Would feel exactly the same about having a day off and not wanting a bug to get in the way so don't be . How did J get on with the settling in period? Am dreading my J's so trying to soak up as many experiences as I can to prepare myself!

CantSleepWontSleep · 01/09/2009 22:36

Awww, sympathies Rachie. Had you given medicine for teeth already? You must be consistent if you are doing cc remember, so make sure that you and dh are up for a few nights of it.

Ds has only had 45 mins of sleep all day today - 15 mins this morning and 30 this afternoon. He would only nap in pushchair, and woke if a pin dropped . Hopefully we will get a better night tonight from both dc though, as last night was terrible. I shall be going up myself v shortly.

Glad that you are feeling a little more positive mm.

Have fab time hmm.

of all this talk of time without the dc. I am hopefully having an evening out in a couple of weeks time, and even that feels like abandoning ds (will have to go out at 7 regardless of whether he is settled or not). It's as much as I'm likely to get for a while though!

agree with csws Rachie - it will be a tough few nights, but important to be consistent and not give in and pick him up or else you'll be starting over each time you do that. You'll be shocked at how much the crying time drops on night 2 and night 3. and very soon after you'll be able to put him down, he may shout in protest at first for up to 5 min but he'll be able to settle himself to sleep.

I was SO against it too. And couldn't stand the fact that Q was working himself up into such a state, but it worked. He now cries for less than a minute when we put him in the cot. But typically he doesn't cry at all, just lays down, tired and drifts off to sleep. He NEVER EVER did this before cc. Even as a newborn, had to be bounced or fed or pushed in stroller to sleep.

jenwa · 02/09/2009 08:39

star I am hoping its not too much like camping! It is a superior plus caravan with 3 bedrooms so am hoping it is a little more more luxurious! I hate camping! I will have to put P in the sink though as its a shower so no bath but she has long legs and may have to fold herself up to fit in the sink!!!

csws you deserve a night out and you wont be abondoning your ds, your dh may have a fun eve though

rachie sorry about your bad night settling J but totally agree with others and you know in the long run it works. Just now the hard part!

mm glad you feeling a little better. Children are a distraction too even if they are little monkeys at time

pepper hope J is ok and also you get your hair done and child free day

Honeymoonmummy · 02/09/2009 09:00

Hi all, just a quickie before I leave!

Rachie, sorry to hear about the bad nights. Poppy is teething badly too, but only 1-3 wakes in the night, normally 1 thankfully.

Jenwa, you'll be amazed how luxurious it is! My DH went in a static caravan for the first time earlier this year and he was expecting the worst but was pleasantly surprised. Re bathtime, we took a big plastic storage box with kitchen stuff in it then filled it with water from the shower for Pops bath...just a thought. Have a great time!

See you all in a few days! x
