Having horrible sleeping with J at the moment, ended up putting him in bed with us at 3.30am this morning and he's just screamed to sleep now. Really hope it is teething and not him turning into a bad sleeper Bloody typical with me due back to work on thurs. Good day though, PIL came over and J had fun.

Star- We stopped in Winchester for lunch on the way back from Dorset. Only saw it very briefly but it did look lovely. Oh and my boobs are back to normal now. I did only bf for just over 2 months so I don't know if length of bf counts?? But anyway they went a bit flatter but then as Pistachio put it I think, puffed out again and I think now are pretty much the same as before I was pg and even a teeny tiny bit bigger!

Myjob- Yay for good day for lumpy neck. I'd def get it checked, probably a gland though.

50ft- Glad you had a good day too, BBQ sounds fun

aubergenie · 30/08/2009 20:45

50ft - He sounds like a real pain. I think I'd have been tempted to say, OK, if you want to ring your dad then that's your choice. Your poor DH.

50ftQueenie · 30/08/2009 20:48

Aubergenie - If I had been there things would have been a bit different. DH was SOOOOO angry but had to keep it all in.

aubergenie · 30/08/2009 20:50

Rachie - I can totally sympathise on the sleep thing. Rubbish timing too. I was looking forward to going back to school but now am feeling a bit panicky about being so tired.

50ftQueenie · 30/08/2009 20:50

Rachie - Sorry you're having a hard time with sleep. Is he teething at the moment?

RachieW · 30/08/2009 21:00

50ft- I think he is, before we went a way he got another two teeth on the bottom so they are through but still coming through iykwim. I'm also convinced that he is getting his top eye teeth (if that's the right term) although according to the Red Book the next one babies usually get is the molar. Anyway no sign at the back but I can see the shape of the eye tooth at the front on both sides but no actual tooth yet. A parent at the baby gym told me they are the most painful but then I've been told that about the molars so I don't know. It's all confusing for a first timer The thing is he is fine in the day but not at night. Am just hoping that tonight is better for all of us. Have set the travel cot up in our room as a precaution!

Aubergenie- Feeling very scared too. Was like a zombie for most of today and have no idea how I'll deal with work and this crushing tiredness!

aubergenie · 30/08/2009 21:03

I can imagine you wouldn't put up with any nonsense 50ft.

Oh did I mention that two of my friends are trying to get me to join the WI? Our local group is called the Shoreditch Sisters and meeing in a pub near Spitalfields market so I imagine it's not quite your average Jam and Jerusalem get together.

aubergenie · 30/08/2009 21:09

Rachie - Although most do, I don't think they always get their teeth in the same order. I know someone whose baby got her eye teeth first and looked like a vampire baby for quite a while before the rest came through.

RachieW · 30/08/2009 21:12

Lol to vampire baby So far J has followed the "expected tooth appearance" pattern but I really think his vampire ones are next

Night Garden is bonkers isn't it. It must have been a real bunch of stoners who came up with it.

Rachie - you're a south London girl aren't you. Do you happen to know whether the cafe in the Horniman museum is nice and also baby friendly?

50ftQueenie · 30/08/2009 21:43

I love Makka Pakka. M wasn't too sure at first but she loves him too now. I love it when he washes faces. How adorable! I fricking hate Clifford.

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/08/2009 22:06

Ds doesn't get to watch Night Garden, as dd has outgrown it. I'm sure he'll be bilingual with the amount of Dora that he gets to see though .

Very knackered again after crap night last night and busy day again today (another golden wedding anniv party for the in-laws). Ds now coughing quite a lot in his sleep, as do I when I lie down, so am not expecting a good night tonight either. Nurofen already administered, and medised anticipated soon.

Ekka · 30/08/2009 22:25

50ft - Makka Pakka is my favourite too! Dd knows the names of all of the characters, but is currently into Thomas the Tank Engine - both the tv series and the original books. She can name any engine you point to .

Star, Winchester is near us and lovely, we go to the Christmas market there, though never actually buy anything.

Myjob, glad to hear your washing machine is behaving again, what would we do without them? In fact I don't know how people coped with kids before all the modern gadgets and tv

Aubergenie, sad about your veg patch, but we've successfully grown cherry tomatoes in hanging baskets, and potatoes in bags. Could you maybe get some planter boxes for your patio and fill them with veg instead of flowers? Not quite the same as a veg patch, but enough to stop any veg-growing withdrawal symptoms .

We've had an interesting weekend so far - we went to Venture photography studios yesterday to see the results of our photo session (my grandmother bought us a voucher for Xmas and I didn't have the heart not to use it). The session was cr@p as they said they only did one style of photography (not the style that we wanted) and the photos were not great. We got our free pic, but there was no way we were going to buy more. They charge you £600 for a memory stick with 15-20 pics on and they are print protected and general photo prices range from £150 to £3,500 . Actually I nearly died laughing when the guy described them as 'value for money'.

We've been swimming and to the park today, but it felt really like autumn already.... I can't believe summer is nearly over . Dd was picking blackberries and I was telling her about me doing the same thing as a child and got a real shock to realise that my memories of blackberrying are at least 20 years old. I'm feeling rather nostalgic for those days and some of the people who were around then....

Anyway, I'm off to bed, night all!

50ftQueenie · 30/08/2009 22:37

Bloody hell Ekka! That makes the woman I want to do some photos sound really reasonable! I was going to wait until our family was complete......

CSWS - Hope your night isn't too bad. M has had a horrible cough but she seems to be sleeping ok. She does tend to wake with a huge coughing fit though. I have a completely blocked up nose, I think they must have shared their germs around last week. Oh and DS continues to watch In The Night Garden long after M has wandered off to play with some baby wipes or dvds my shoes toys.

aubergenie · 31/08/2009 09:06

Ekka. What a rip-off! (I say that, but I've got no idea what photographers charge as I'm lucky enough that dp is photography mad)

Sorry to hear about poorly babies. Hope your nights weren't too bad.

I'd be lost without my washing machine too. My mum was telling me about standing crying over the cooker while she stood and boiled up the nappies. I'm not bloody surprised.

It is starting to feel really autumnal isn't it. I like it, as I'm not really a hot weather person and Iook forward to covering myself up with long boots and woolly tights.

You're right about the veg patch Ekka and others before. It's been a real struggle to keep up with the garden this year, so I think a few containers could well be the way to go. I like the idea of tomatoes in baskets too. Think I'll try that, along with strawberries. Apparently it gives a better crop as they don't get so damaged.

I've been feeling extremely odd for the last few days. Very, very hormonal and queasy with lots of abdominal "activity" (aches, pains, stabbing etc). I'm not sure whether it's just PMT symptoms (I have suffered a lot with it in the past), or whether I'm pregnant. Too early to tell at the moment but it's pretty bad.

CantSleepWontSleep · 31/08/2009 09:21

Ooh aubergenie - how exciting. I can't remember, were you trying to get pregnant? I know that you wanted them close together didn't you.
Found out in the last week that 2 of my close friends are pregnant (one of them still not due on for a couple of days, so VERY early), and am v excited for them!

aubergenie · 31/08/2009 09:34

Well we talked about number two but haven't actually been trying but also not not trying either (actually we're both so knackered at the moment that it's a very unusual event in this house!). Because of my age, we would need to start pretty soon really, but I have to admit I feel slightly sick at the prospect.

50ftQueenie · 31/08/2009 09:47

Yes that IS exciting Aubergenie, obviously not that exciting if it's just PMT though. I too am very excited about autumn approaching. I am mainly looking forward to putting M in thick woolly tights though.

M and I seem to have had a cold relapse! She couldn't breath properly last night and I have a horrible sore throat. We're meant to be going out to meet DH's friend and his new wife. We're going to look so attractive with our red crusty noses and watery eyes!

RachieW · 31/08/2009 11:31

Yay- a full nights sleep! My Mum suggested that J may have been cold in bed so we put him in a babygro with a long sleeved top over it, then his gro-bag and a blanket. We also raised his matress as he'd been all snotty and one of those worked. Or none but we all caught up on some precious sleep!

Aubergenie- I haven't been to the Hornimans for years. From what I remember it is very family friendly and there was also lots of grass for a picnic. Funnily enough I did say to Dh the other week that we should take J there. Exciting news about a possible pg too

Ekka- eeeeeek for photos. I had some taken of J when he was 6 weeks. The session was only £25 and the photographer came to our house, he was really lovely. However we then spent £180 on a pic with frame which was more than I anticipated!

J isn't that keen on tv. I do put Milkshake on in the mornings (Channel 5) but he only watches the opening titles because of the music. He has a nursery rhyme dvd I brought him from the £1 shop that he loves but that's about it.

50ft- Hope you and M feel better soon and enjoy your day.

We are having a very lazy day today with no plans, so far it's great.
