LOL! DS is saying "words" now too - same sounds, sentences of them!

He very clearly said "bottle" yesterday, ironic baby - he's still breastfed He meant the nurofen bottle - he wanted to play with it!

He's not been well again - think he's had another UTI He's taking trimethoprim for it after a dash to the hospital yesterday after his temp was stubbornly 40.5

TracyK · 20/06/2005 20:14

Hey girls - we're slipping down the active convos list!
ds has been unbearable the past couple of days. The heat and the 'out of routine' routine has taken its toll. DGP's are visiting and so ds off nursery and so his nap schedule is all to pot and therefore his bedtime is all to pot too. Normally easier to cope with but being hot and sticky and flustered is too much for me. If I ever wondered what ds would be like with no daytime nap - I wonder no more. Crouching on all fours, howling to the point of almost making himself sick! Back to normality tomoro - I hope!

dot1 · 20/06/2005 22:17

We're in the house from hell at the moment... Complete disaster potty training ds1, which is making us all sad and stressed, and ds2 seems to be teething like mad all of a sudden - can't eat, howling all day, waking at 5am and drooling all day. Aarrgggghhhhh!! We're all hot, bothered and fed up...

Fennel - are you back yet and how are your dd's?!

Fennel · 21/06/2005 10:34

hi dot, dd3 is also teething, 2 new molars this last week. lots of disturbed nights.

dp and the dds coped admirably with my absence, dp is full of how much he enjoyed it! dp and dsis (who looked after dd3 one day) both raved about how easygoing she is.

sorry to hear about the toilet training, i saw the other thread. i'd say keep going don't give up now - but you probably have given up by now?

dolbear · 21/06/2005 11:58

LucyJones · 21/06/2005 20:35

Good luck with the MMR tomorrow dolbear. And good luck with the ttc Lunavix Ds is teething too and daytime naps are a bt erratic at the moment. He had a few nights of screaming before going to sleep which is very unlike him and very upsetting but went to sleep okay tonight thank goodness! I was called into to work today so dh took him to mother and toddlers - bless him!

loulabelle222 · 21/06/2005 21:26

ds has been great these last few nights. Last night he slept from 7.30 till 9.30! I had 2 hours to myself this morning it was lovely! he is a very good sleeper though and normally has two long naps a day but he makes up for it wen he is awake.. constantly grabbing my hand taking me places ! they are funny aint they? PLEASE don't worry about mmr .. ds was fine was a bit groggy for two nights and didn't go to bed till 11 but he was fine , he had a little rash about a week later but thats it! hope it all goes well!

hewlettsdaughter · 21/06/2005 21:35

dolbear, my dd has been fine since the mmr. She does seem to have developed excema in the creases of her elbows and knees in the last few weeks though. Took her to the doc's today and got some hydrocortisone ointment - am hoping I'll only need to use it for a few days to see an improvement.

Fennel - glad the dds were ok. Did you enjoy your trip?

Sorry about the potty training dot - you will get there, if not now then eventually

dot1 · 21/06/2005 21:59

Fennel - glad to hear all went well! We've turned the corner with ds1's potty training - hurrah!

ds2's still under the weather with teething - poor thing... Lots of crying especially in the afternoons, and he's off his food so we know he's not himself!

Fennel · 21/06/2005 22:09

glad to hear the potty training has got better dot1.

dd3 seems to have 4 new teeth in the last few days, all the 4 molars (are there only 4? not sure). we are all a bit tired of the broken nights. she is either very grumpy because of the teething or else she's really hitting toddler tantrum age - aaaggh.

norway was very stressful really, spoilt by difficult stroppy work colleagues. started fantasising about SAHM life (which is really unusual for me, but small children seem so much nicer sometimes than real people

dolbear · 22/06/2005 10:08

ahhh thank you so much for all your support - as always !!
ave 2 make appt for ds also as he is missing his bits so to speak and will prob have 2 ave op to drop them IYKWIM his dad had the same as did my dad so poor little bugger had no chance ! not looking forward 2 that either - seems they do it @ 4 yrs ??

TracyK · 22/06/2005 10:26

oooh - Dolbear - that sounds a bit unnerving! Glad I'm a girl! tho the way ds pushes his willie inside itself and into his groin - he may end up with the same condition!

LucyJones · 22/06/2005 10:38

Dolbear - my nephew had an undecended testicle and they operated just before he was one. They had a look around for it but sadly it had died so he justs as the one. They said it didn't matter unless anything ever happened to the remaining one and to take him straight to hospital

Chuffed · 22/06/2005 11:01

golly dolbear - that's a bit scary.
Glad the potty training has turned around dot, considering buying some fuzzybunz at the mo so that dd starts to recognise wetness.
We have had a nightmare with bedtimes in this heat, she was up and down out of her cot for an hour and a half last night, held her down by her growbag 3 times till I thought she was almost out but she was faking the little mischief.
dh ended up holding her still in the big bed till she finally fell right asleep which I'm trying to avoid but the put back no eye contact thing didn't work last night at all. Not looking forward to a week by myself next week while dh is in NY again.
Wow all these teeth, dd still only just got 6.
ENJOY THE WEATHER ISN'T IT BRILLIANT!!!!

dolbear · 22/06/2005 16:54

i like this weather ds sleeps all night for a change , not much naps in the day though
not 2 scarey as dh had the same so we r well versed
MMR went fine
as I dais to nurse who mentioned ds did'nt mind , he does'nt read the news does he ? ah well all done and dusted and not a squeek from ds , bless him

TracyK · 22/06/2005 17:00

ds woke at 3.45 this morning and since we had the windows opened I think he was cold by then also he could see how light it was - it took us till 5am toget him back to sleep, tho the bloody birds were signing their dawn chorus outside his window. He just wanted to get up and play! Little bugger.
I asked dh to get some black card today so that we could have the window open but stil keep out some light - but I was told that 'it would make no difference and not to be stupid' well - what do I know??? We'll just see what time he wakes tomoro at with no blackouts.

hewlettsdaughter · 22/06/2005 20:28

Chuffed, glad it is not just my dd being difficult to put to bed at the moment! We have dispensed with her grobag for now as we don't have a high summer one and think she'd be too warm in hers in her bedroom. She's up and down like a yoyo! We keep lying her back down, talking, not talking etc etc - it's a battle of wills...

Fennel - do you still want to be a SAHM now you are home or has the moment passed?

Hello to everyone else!

Fennel · 22/06/2005 22:07

HD, today I want to be a career woman with no kids!

especially no teething children. or wideawake-on-midsummer-evening-and-grumpy-in-morning children.

dolbear, glad to hear mmr went ok.

TracyK · 23/06/2005 08:50

ds up and ready to play at 5.15am this morning! I'm sure its cos theres no blackout curtains up.

Chuffed · 23/06/2005 09:24

tracy we have no blackout curtains and dd had to be woken up at 7.45 but then again she didn't actually get to sleep until close to 9.30 as she was up down up down again. Can't believe how mobile she is in the growbag (1 tog so she shouldn't be too hot). Little rascal knows what she is doing too, she seems to have learnt how to fake falling asleep and when she is standing in the cot and you say from the doorway sleep she lies down for a couple of mins and then is straight back up again.
No teething today but dd fell off a table at nursery yesterday and fell at an awkward angle apparently (our monkey loves to climb) so they were worried she might have a sore neck and jaw but she seems fine and she doesn't seem to have learnt her lesson either.
Glad the MMR went well dolbear.

TracyK · 23/06/2005 09:34

ds seems to still go down ok at 7.30 (please don't jinx it!) - but the early mornings are a pain. He'll be struggling at nursery this morning and if he doesn't fall asleep in his lunch then he'll want an extra long nap when I pick him up. I spose I could let him have a long one as he has swimming tonight and will prob be later to bed.
Haven't plucked up the courage for MMR yet.

LucyJones · 23/06/2005 20:11

Ds pulled himself up on the furniture today - he was sp leased with himself!! Do we win the record for the latest one to do this!!! I know loads of you have had walking/cruising babies for ages!

dolbear · 23/06/2005 21:42

t - do you mean up on the sofa ?
ds has also learned this little trick , not so great when he falls off ! alo has a habbit of rolling off the sofa when he wakes up from his nap !! he kinda bounces cos he is half asleep so no damage done !!!

Chuffed · 24/06/2005 09:55

LJ isn't it exciting - at least your ds might have a bit of common sense by the time he gets totally mobile, dd is just kamakaze girl.
