mrsD - I'm so sorry with everything going on I forgot totally about the nursery, glad you have found one.

All I can say is don't move near newbury town centre, urgh! There's some lovely village-type areas within a few miles of it though. Thatcham, where I am, is about 3 or 4 miles away, very strongly family orientated!

Ds is taking the odd step on his own with a ton of encouragement and if we just let go and he doesn't notice... getting there!

Still can't say dada much to dh's annoyance!

We've booked a week in butlins in october.. it's pre-schoolers week there and I cannot wait! It's going to be great. A friend and her dh and two dd's shall be coming (for 5 days though not 7) and it will be super.

MrsDoolittle · 11/07/2005 13:38

That's okay Lunavix, dd is placed in a nursery at Echinswell. I believe the village is 'owned' by Andrew Lloyd-Webber We are all sorted there now.

lunavix · 11/07/2005 13:44

Really? lol

There are some really nice areas around here, but it's a case of nosing around.

MrsDoolittle · 11/07/2005 13:45

I know it's beautiful. We'll just have to keep an eye out!

dolbear · 11/07/2005 18:02

handlemecarefully · 12/07/2005 09:09

dolbear - my ds is in size 4.5 G too, so another with fat feet! His sister is a G fitting too. It seems that it is a family trait...

Fennel · 12/07/2005 09:21

G fitting is thin for our ultra-fat-footed family. all mine are G or sometimes H even. dd3 is a 3 at present. not sure about width as she's never been measured, not being a walker yet. (dd1 and dd2 are both 9 and a half G, so dd2 can't inherit dd1's shoes any more, sadly)

TracyK · 12/07/2005 09:22

ds was a size 5 when measured back in April/May - but I have him in size 5 sandals from Matalan and you can still see his toes aren't touching the top. So I don't think they've grown much. I bet he waits till I buy him a new pair of 6's and then he'll jump straight to a 6.5 or 7 within weeks!

Chuffed · 12/07/2005 09:49

dd is a 5 as well I think they said F and has been a 5 for a while now. She seems to have such big feet especially when she is in her converse sneakers.

dh was tasked with bringing back some bigger sneakers back from New York for her to grow into when she grows out of her 5's.

Fennel · 12/07/2005 10:08

hmm, now I am thinking maybe dd3 is not a 3 at all, but squeezed into the wrong shoes. if yours are all bigger. my others were a 4 or 4.5 (always G or H) at this age. no wonder the poor thing isn't walking, she's hobbled in tiny shoes

LucyJones · 12/07/2005 10:10

I didn't dare guess - that's why we went to clarks to get him measured. I would be a bit wary and thinking all shoes have the same sizes iyswim although price wise i would love to beleive it!!

MrsDoolittle · 12/07/2005 10:21

dd is in size 3's but they are H!! Almost square feet!

Chuffed · 12/07/2005 10:25

LJ we got dd measured but have bought shoes in the sales for her in NY when dh is there for far less than clarks prices as she seems to have 'average' width as long as we get wide style shoes. Sandals I was quite happy fitting myself as it is obvious what size they are as you can see toes.
There are a number of kids that are older than dd with far smaller feet than her at nursery. She is quite tall too - she got taken for about 20mths to 2yrs old twice at the park in the weekend again.

Chuffed · 12/07/2005 10:26

LJ also we knew when dd's shoes were getting a bit small as she winged and tried to take them off when we put them on, when we put the next size up on her feet she was happy.

Fennel · 12/07/2005 10:26

Next do quite nice (wide) sandals for about £8.

Chuffed · 12/07/2005 10:50

Fennel the next ones are wide aren't they, a little wide for dd, Zara ones were perfect for her and so lovely for the price in the sales.

dolbear · 12/07/2005 11:14

oh well if there are a lot if G and H's out there why was it that the slough clarkes only had one design of shoe in that width she made it sound as if ds was particularly wide - no offense intended to all those G and H's

lunavix · 12/07/2005 15:53

5H here.

LucyJones · 12/07/2005 15:55

4 and a half F here although not sure we should have bothered as ds just takes them off!!

lunavix · 12/07/2005 15:59

Ds has doodles which are his 'crawling' shoes. I got them second hand for 50p I will NOT pay £17!!! He's wrecking them crawling and that's what they're there for!

He also has a pair of Next proper smart shoes which I got for a wedding, a pair of GAP sandals, a pair of Next trainers.. all of which were as new or new but bought second hand.

He had a new pair of Next formal shoes for our wedding, and a pair of starchild leather shoes (like daisy roots) that were new that we got him at Glastonbury.

I love him having shoes matching his outfits.. which I just could not afford if I bought them all new.

MrsDoolittle · 12/07/2005 16:00

Dd loves her shoes. She tries to put them on herself and then creams when she can't!!

MrsDoolittle · 12/07/2005 16:01

Errr screams!

Chuffed · 12/07/2005 16:47

dd tries to put hers on herself too and a couple of times she has put ours on and tries very carefully to walk with them on - soooo cute wasn't quick enough with the video camera though.
dd also takes her shoes off I think it is so she can try to put them back on. She loves putting buckles and clips together at the moment, will clip something into ie pushchair harness, you undo it she will put it back for ages and screams as soon as it is done so we undo it. We are trying to teach her 'help'.
She got her fuzzi's off the drying wrack last night trying to do the poppers up.

hunkermunker · 12/07/2005 16:49

DS hasn't got any shoes. He can't walk yet so I figured they were a waste of money. Poor deprived mini hunker!
