LucyJones · 01/07/2005 09:43

dolbear it akes me about 5 minutes to read your posts!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you do a lot of texting?
Sorry to hear about your mum - I think you might be saying she has sciatica?!! Live8 party sounds a great idea

Chuffed · 01/07/2005 10:01

Good to have you back YG. Sorry about the sciatica dolbear - hopefully it'll clear up soon.
dd is just a big mischief, still climbing on everything but she is just loving drawing. We bought some washable pens from ELC and she just loves scribbling on big bits of paper at the table and cries when it is time to stop. Still loving her books too and is getting quite affectionate with soft toys but we aren't expecting a girly girl to emerge as she just gets too grubby for that.
YG - MrsD I'm looking at trying to do the washables part time have ordered 2 tots for night and have 1 fuzzi that I'm going to try during the day with a wonderfulls pad. What are the slinki-minki's like. I want something slimmer fit during the day - ideas greatly received.

TracyK · 01/07/2005 10:46

what do we all think of potty training - we're fast approaching the 18 month mark (well ds is almost 16mo and time flies).
Don't think he's ready as he's been running around in the afternoons with no nappy on. Usually ok - except Wed when he crouched down to pick up something and a poo popped out! He just carried on as if nothing had happened! so I don't think it registers with him yet. dh was disgusted!!

lunavix · 01/07/2005 10:54

I'm not thinking of potty training. Ds is in no way capable of telling us if he needs to be changed, he can't talk and he's not great at communicated plus he can't stand yet

Chuffed · 01/07/2005 11:15

Tracy dh and I were talking about that, another reason I'm trying to get dd into some washables as they apparently are more aware of having gone. 3 times last weekend dd brought us something from her nappy changing area and when we checked her she needed changed so she may be starting to notice sometimes.

TracyK · 01/07/2005 11:17

I was going to try the trainer pants from Boots nearer the time. I was going to move onto pullups till then - but they are sooo expensive.

Chuffed · 01/07/2005 11:23

Pullups are a rip off, hopefully will be able to avoid them completely execpt for maybe the odd emergency.

Fennel · 01/07/2005 12:52

we have never needed pull ups. both mine potty trained from nappy to proper knickers in a couple of days.
but i have to say not at 14 months. or even 16 months. it seems extremely young to be trying for me.

Chuffed · 01/07/2005 13:04

Oh no wouldn't try it yet, just thinking of trying to introduce the concept of feeling wet, fabric on bottoms, poop down toilet.

Fennel · 01/07/2005 13:10

yes. i do think real nappies probably helped ours. also playing with potty and practising sitting on it can't hurt. but actually trying with them so young i think can lead to a lot of stress and hang -ups.

for no good purpose really. nappies a pain but so are semi-toilet trained toddlers. endless loo trips all the time....

dolbear · 01/07/2005 13:28

hello Yg
no don't text - 2 much hard work !! just lazy is all
ds is starting to tell us after and if is a v nasty 1 bust would not even TRY it yet no no , got enough probs already ta ! , besides his poos r ot what i would call adult yet they are still a bit squishy S2S

Chuffed · 01/07/2005 14:10

dolbear dd's were fine for a while and have gone all 'babylike' again???
fennel agree with the partially trained toddler, not sure how travelling around Eastern Europe would be with a partially trained toddler so not hurrying things along at all, will not buy a potty until I start doing it and hoping that it will happen after our travels next April actually.

dot1 · 01/07/2005 21:48

Blimey - we've only just toilet trained our 3.5 year old ds1!!!! I'm thinking probably next summer, if we're lucky, for ds2!

MrsDoolittle · 04/07/2005 09:56

Hi Ladies. Interesting convsersation about poos going on here! Just to add my piece; dd was grunting in her highchair on Saturday and obviously it was something big as her face went so red. I took her upstairs to the potty. Well it was so huge that when dh saw it he thought I had sat on the potty and put it there as a demonstartion for dd!!!!

Slinki minkis are great Chuffed but I do think you need to show them off. I have dd in large ones bit I actually think I should have put her in medium ones. I don't know about your boosters though, I use microfibre cloths - 69p from woolworths!

Fennel · 04/07/2005 11:37

I can't believe you lot are still buying (more) nappies! dd3 is still in the same nappies her big sisters used (mostly MEOS) and they're still going strong.

dd3 did a step, maybe, yesterday. dp is peeved as he's been training her but he missed the moment. she's such a slacker though she won't work at her walking at all.

LucyJones · 04/07/2005 18:48

at MrsDoolittle's dd using a potty already!

MrsDoolittle · 04/07/2005 18:49

Only because it won't fit in her nappy!!
And she grunts so loudly she tends to advertise it

Chuffed · 05/07/2005 13:16

at MrsD even owning a potty already.
MrsD how absorbant are the microfibre cloths, do you need a couple of them, folded? Are they slim fitting as that is my big thing and the fuzzi's with the wonderfull hemp insert appears to fit under most clothes

MrsDoolittle · 05/07/2005 13:35

No the microfibre cloths are seriously slim, I doubt anything you have will be as absorbant! Let me see now.....here's an example

Chuffed · 05/07/2005 16:00

cool, will have a wander up to woolworths in the weekend and have a look.
Was happy with my one fuzzi in the weekend, cleaned up easily so just need to get some more.
My tots have arrived so will wash them tonight and hopefully get to try them in a couple of days.
I want to order a slinky before getting any more fuzzi's to see which ones I like the best.

MrsDoolittle · 05/07/2005 16:01

Make sure you get a medium, - I think the strawberry shortcake ones are cute!
