thom Thanks. I'm having a paranoid moment becasue I know 2 children his age that have colours sorted and can count to 20. And Jacob can say 2.
Sorry you have had a rough day. of your wine. Here's hoping tomorrow is better

dinkystinky · 26/08/2009 19:41

LBB, DS1 did that too - everything was one and yellow (or as he used to say "lello"). It sorts itself out eventually.

THOM - sorry to hear about your horrid afternoon. I find it helps to periodically remind myself that little boys around our sons ages have lots of testosterone surges which turn them into little buggers - and then the surge is over and they are back to their usual delightful selves. If that doesnt work, the wine usually does the trick Hope tomorrow is a better day.

lbb... our female cat is called Blue. Guess why?

Yep, ds1 named her when he was practically the same age as J. It would be far more unusual if he knew all his colours and could count at this age

and for what it's worth; dd is 4.5 and can't count past 12, ds1 is 3 and can get to 13, skips to 16 and then counts to 20

thom lots of sympathy on the rough day, hope he wakes up in angelic form tomorrow to make up for it... enjoy the wine

littleboyblue · 26/08/2009 20:30

PT

Thank you both for the reassurances

yummyspottyblueberry · 27/08/2009 08:07

Dinky - Balloon animals - Genius. must learn! We ended up with paints but confined it to playroom and ended back up with his sodding beloved jigsaws when he'd had enough.

You are a brave woman turning your back on a boy with crayons LBB - my kitchen wall told a terrible tale last week!! DS1 was the same with colours and numbers (funnily green as well) at that age. He can now count to 20 and say colours properly but that came at 27mths - we had a month of sixteen-teen, seventeen-teen etc which was v cute

We have dryer pink but it can take all day to dry our 6 load backlog Am on top of it all now - phew

THOM - Ditto! We've just been through 5 mnths of no authority. Not sure if it was linked to turning 'terrible' two or DS2's arrival but it has been VERY testing. You have my sympathies - Wine is definately the way forward

I've been swimming for an hour for the past 2 nights and ache all over this morning! Looks like another soggy day too so may just have to lie on floor cushions and play trains with the boys all day

yummyspottyblueberry · 27/08/2009 08:09

Anyone else getting freaked out by moving babies. I put DS2 down in the toy corner and when I finished typing that message the room was empty - he'd tummy shuffled out 15ft and out of the door!!!

PolkSaladLucie · 27/08/2009 08:38

Yup spotty, with you on that - and I know my MIL would be. When I went back to work, I warned her that M was pretty much crawling and not to turn her back on her. She ignored me (as usual!), and after changing M's nappy (on the floor in the sitting room) went into the kitchen to put the nappy in the pail and wash her hands. She came back into the sitting room to discover no baby, and a trail of baby wipes leading out the door into the garden!!!

mumoverseas · 27/08/2009 11:15

morning all,

LBB don't worry about the colours, DD says everything is pink! (its her favourite colour, she is a real girlie girl)

STW hope your hand is ok

Bumps sorry you are still having a hard time with O. H is being rat. His little teeth just won't come through and a couple of times a day he will just scream for an hour or so and there is nothing I can do. Poor little man

dinky sorry about the period. I thought last night mine might be about to return as I've been having awful stomach cramps. No doubt it will start just as I board the plane back to KSA!

KBN good luck with return to work. When exactly is it

proud mum alert. DS1 got the rest of his GCSE results this morning. Got a B grade in English lit was annoying as the 'gradeometer' showed he was 1 mark off an A. He got a C in arabic which I'm over the moon about as its is second foreign language and he's pretty much been teaching himself for the past year since the teacher at school refused to teach him.
This makes his total 2 x A*, 6 x A, 2 x B and 1 x C. Very pleased

dinkystinky · 27/08/2009 13:23

A huge well done to your DS1 MoS - no wonder you're a very proud mummy! And hope H's tooth comes through soon, poor little man. Have you made a decision on whether or not you will be able to make mini meetup tomorrow?

Spotty - Danny scooched backwards across our living room yesterday, then rotated to find one of DS1's toys and dragged it down from a shelf to play with

KBN, STW - it is forecast to be sunny intervals tomorrow. Any preference on where you'd like to meet up and time (12.30ish or would you prefer earlier or later)?

DS1 currently regressing with being potty trained - we've now had two lunchtime nap wees and poos in bed in a row, so rather grateful its sunny today as house is starting to look rather like a chinese laundry.

MOS, poor H with the teething, C too. I bought C a long sleeved vest in 6-12 months from Baby Gap this afternoon, it's orange with a bat on but what I couldn't resist was that it says "Teething Bites". I also bought one with a raccoon (?) which says "I love the nightlife" (He woke at 11, 2, 4 and 6 last night).

Am looking out for details of tomorrow, am still not decided but think another Enfield meet up is more likely than another Feb 09 meet up before I go back to work.

elkiedee · 27/08/2009 19:36

Pink, love that phrase "glacier teething" - C has had 2 teeth for more than 2 months but I've been expecting to see the next ones come through for so long now.

SweetTalkinWoman · 27/08/2009 20:24

Hi there just a quick one from me as am having to be sociable with DH who is back from his hols. Lucky for him he remembered my Toblerone. Unlucky for him that I overheard his profanities relating to the amount of new bright plastic toys in the garden .

Dinky and KBN maybe we could try to meet around midday, so by the time we've cooed over each other's LO's we can get onto lunch! Have we all just got babies with us? No toddlers? Makes it easier deciding venue, but I'm rubbish at making decisions - have never been to any of the places you suggested Dinky - do you have any preferences? do you still have my mobile number from previous meetups?

MOS well done to your DS! You must be v proud, and I hope he is too. It's a great start into the big, wide world.

Am signing off now, still trying to decide whether to lance the huge blister on my thumb where I scalded myself....

dinkystinky · 27/08/2009 20:29

Just Danny with me tomorrow. STW, KBN - How about meeting midday outside the National Theatre (bit of pavement between it and the river) near the funny circular statue thing? Not sure have still got your no STW as have switched mobiles between meet ups. Hopefully you've still got my no, have put it on FB again in case you or KBN need it.

MoS, Elkie - if you can make it would be lovely to see you but understand if you cant. Just text if you are on your way to the meet up.

OP posts:
SweetTalkinWoman · 27/08/2009 20:58

Thanks Dinky - just posted my mob on Facebook too. CAn I just check that the National theatre is not the same place as the National Film Theatre (sorry, a bit rubbish at theatres!). Whatother building is it near?

Looking forward to seeing you. My train gets in about 11.50 so may be a couple of mins late....

dinkystinky · 27/08/2009 21:00

Is just next door to the National Film Theatre - so pretty easy to find. Just checked weather again - now predicting rain at 1 so should definitely aim inside somewhere for food and wine, only to stay dry of course

OP posts:
katieblirdsnest · 28/08/2009 08:17

I'll be there (with my hangover) about midday. am putting my mobile on fb now.

yummyspottyblueberry · 28/08/2009 08:26

Congratulations proud mummy MOS - they are excellent results.

I didn't get to Jersey in the end (obviously as i've been here everyday!) as the flights were £500 for 4 days for me + boys so my mum went on her own I'm going to research the cheapest way to get to London for the next big meetup as last time I looked it was £150 on the train

Enjoy your lunch today girlies and have a glass of wine for me

dinkystinky · 28/08/2009 09:32

and re the price of tickets to jersey - and to london - from your place Spotty. Its not like you live in the scottish highland either!!

Had the fright of my life last night. Checked in on Danny and DS1 at around 9.30 and found Danny asleep in his cot - with both him and his cot covered in blood! I think he'd had a massive nosebleed in his sleep - knowing him he probably headbutted the cot while doing his nocturnal gymnastics but it terrified me until I'd checked him and made sure he was still breathing and cleaned him and his cot all up. He's a total grizzlebunny today though and a nap refusnik so I think he's now scared of his cot, poor little man. So he should be fun at lunch! That wine will come in very handy...

elkiedee · 28/08/2009 09:35

Eek to £150 train fare - whereabouts is that from again? And is that with Railcard discounts included. You don't need a ticket for a baby or any under 5, but with a Family Railcard you'll save more than you spend by buying at least one child ticket as you get 60% off that fare and 30% of your own and/or other adults age 16+, it's just a question of how many journeys it takes to save the £24 cost of the card. We're going to Ilkley tomorrow for a week for less than £40 - I've bought C a ticket for about £5 return because then we get the whole table reserved to ourselves from London to Leeds and back.

PinkTulips · 28/08/2009 11:13

OMG dinky how terrifying for you! dd is 4 and her nosebleeds still manage to get me worried, poor Danny having one at his age.

If he lost an awful lot of blood it might be wise to bring him to the gp and see if you should dose with some iron... dd has galfer that she takes after a bad nosebleed so she doesn't get anaemic. Also, not to panic you but dd's nosebleeds all stem from a bad bump on the nose she got at 2, the damage has never properly healed, even after being cauterised so there's a chance he may get more nosebleeds.

yummyspottyblueberry · 28/08/2009 11:46

Dinky!!!!! I'd have been in pieces! Hope he's ok now? And very good point about iron from Pink.

£150 was just me Elkie!!! as the kids go free. It's from Lincoln so I need to change trains at least once before getting into KC but I think it was the time of train I needed to get to the meet that bumped the price up. It's usually around £75 (still IMO). I dont use the train since having DC's so wouldn't have thought it worth getting a card really. Will look into coach next time.

yummyspottyblueberry · 28/08/2009 11:50

Hey if Elkie is in Ilkley (say that fast!) next week, MS in Norfolk and with Dinky's inlaws in Worksop (I didn't just make that up did I Dinks??)

.....

How about

.....

A MIDLAND MEET UP????

PinkTulips · 28/08/2009 12:56

[stamps foot]

well i'll just have my own irish meetup and it'll be better than all yere stupid meetups, way better, so there!

[sticks tongue out]

No it won't, ours is way better - neh neh!
