Astro! I have to agree though, so nice, just to have one whole day that went nicely with no major bickering from or with anyone! and good weather too, almost a miracle!

laundrylover · 22/03/2010 17:22

Hello all,

How posh of Caddy to post from the airport lounge!! Good to hear the great move is underway.

I liked reading about your lovely days out/in Friz and Astro....we had a similar experience on Sat. DP and I did a very hilly and very, very muddy (some people lost shoes!) 10k at Cartmel in the lakes. Look here for my red face and purple legs 5th row down!

Anyway we then had to hang around all day whilst my dad and fellow runners did the 18k in the afternoon and then wait for the prize giving. So girls spent from 10am - 5pm on a wet race course with absolutely nothing to do and didn't complain once! I was very proud of them.

Today is my birthday - 38 - and had to have a wee behind a tree on my run this morning...I am officially an incontinent old bid.

Astrophe · 23/03/2010 22:34

ds's birthday pics and pic of new house on FB

DD2 has been a horror the last few nights - last night up at 4 and awake crying and fussing until 6am, then slept until 9am...any ideas why?

laundrylover · 23/03/2010 23:14

Lovely photos Astro....another tooth coming for DD2 do you think? DS is so handsome at 4.

Friz, just looked at DD2s party pics too - fantastic.

One day there'll be new photos from me!!

Frizbe · 25/03/2010 20:42

Sorry to hear about dd2's middle of the night wakings Astro, it's not a teeth thing is it?

LL well done you that's great running!

dd2 a happy bunny here, an 'Auntie' (friend of mine) popped over yesterday and brought her some new 'proper' shoes for her birthday and then she also blagged some mock crocs from Next!! dd1 went into sulk mode at this, so friend then brought dd1 a new pair of plimsols all under the banner of being a spoiling auntie (I tried to pay and she wouldn't let me, bless her)

UniS · 28/03/2010 23:21

hello, from a busy RL weekend.
We have exchanged contracts on a house, hurrah hurrah. Can;t like to any pics as estate agent have already taken them down...

Pub quiz team came 2nd, hurrah, hurrah.

Under 11s disco in village hall on friday was bedlam. SUpper with friends while boy slept 7- 12 in their spare room went well, and we got him home in bike trailer as pushchair and into his own bed asleep successsfully.

Good to read your newses.

4 yr olds are interesting arn;t they.

laundrylover · 29/03/2010 10:06

Uni, so glad to hear you've exchanged on the house!!!! Wahay!!!

Caddy sent me a message on FB to say they'd all arrived.

4 year olds - I have one too now . Kiah up this morning and opened all her presents on our bed. Many small ponies etc! She had a party with 9 teeny, teary friends yesterday but all went well overall.

Both girls are full of coughs and colds and now I've got it I think. Haven't run since last Weds so hope it goes soon.

Just off to Slimming World to get on the weigh bridge and then back here as have a client coming round to finish some work that I need to print, sign and deliver today. Bad timing as really would rather go back to bed.

Frizbe · 29/03/2010 13:21

Uni that's great news about the house, well done, what a huge relief that must be I love those evenings where the kids just crash and you get to have lots of fun out, it doesn't happen often here any more, (party animals) but we had a few when they were younger

Yay for Caddy getting to her new home ok

Happy Birthday Kiah

Waves at everyone, I have a bug...looks like Saturdays stinking headache, turned into Sunday nights sweats n wanting to be sick (but I wasn't?) odd eh? have just crawled out of bed and eaten toast, dh is a hero, did everything with the kids this am, including taking ss back to Leeds at 5am, cause we tried yest evening, but M1 shut between J29-30, so we spent an hour in traffic, before turning round at 1st opportunity and going home again.

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/living_overseas/936170-sydney-mumsnetters-please-help-me-advertise-for-a-house- swap Astro you're needed here!

Blottedcopybook · 31/03/2010 14:20

I feel a bit cheeky popping in here with a question when I'm not really a regular, but here goes!

We're in Scotland where the education authority mandates that any child who turns five before the 1st March starts school the preceding August. January and February babies can defer for a year, babies born on or after 1st March can apply for early entry if so desired.

So! We applied for early entry for Nairn and his assessment was on Monday, except he was in a super bad mood and decided that actually he didn't really want to read a book or answer some questions about numbers or actually do anything the assessor asked. I know it's because he'd been up during the night with nightmares but I also know that this is a clear sign of emotional immaturity and could very much go against him.

I don't know what to do now. Help! Are any of you in Scotland and applying for early entry?

Frizbe · 31/03/2010 19:30

Hi Blotted! sorry I'm not in scotland, but some of LL's family are, so she might be better placed to help you
BTW can you re post that mother n child craft swap link on here please, as I reckon dd1 would be up for it with me I saw it whoosh by on twitter earlier!

Blottedcopybook · 31/03/2010 22:42

Oh! Yeah sure, the blog link is here

laundrylover · 01/04/2010 12:36

Sorry I don't know about Scottish rules and sister's babies are not small to worry about school yet!

Kiah got her place at school but we expected this with the sibling rule....have you heard Friz and Uni?

UniS · 01/04/2010 20:33

Re which school. Not heard yet, don;t expect to till mid april. Unheard of ( OSIT) for a child living in the village at application notto get a place in village school IF parents applied on time. Locals out rank out of area siblings. Last few years intake has been about 50 % local kids topped up with out of area.

Re early entry to school, no idea, sorry. Have vaugly considered it for boy, to get him in the sept intake rather than the January one, but DH not keen, so haven't take it any further. Gonna let him be teh "big boy" at preschool for term with out the current big boys - who boy is not very keen on as they play a bit rough and hard and call him names.

Have whittled tomorrows "Family day out" options down to to 2, going to see which boy picks at breakfast ! Similar prices and boy would enjoy either of them. Plan is to eat out early evening at our local pub, so its a mini holiday.

Frizbe · 01/04/2010 21:40

Sounds nice uni, we've been shopping tonight, so lots of lovely things to cook and bake and EAT watch me moaning about my weight next week eh

Schools, we heard on Tuesday that dd2 is in at her sisters school, phew! I know we were lucky though, as another girl in the years sister did not get in, so is having to go to the other infant school that feeds to the junior that they both will go to, if the appeal doesn't work

Blottedcopybook · 02/04/2010 09:52

I got your email Frizbe - you could sign DD2 up as well if she wanted?

Re: Early entry - annoyingly, Nairn misses the cut off by 5 days, he was due on the 19th Feb and if he'd arrived on time or I'd consented to induction earlier this wouldn't even be an issue!
Anyway, I called the education dept yesterday and they said that we'll actually be sent a copy of the report which is good - at least we can gauge his strengths and weaknesses. I still hope he gets in though otherwise we're going to have Nairn and Erica in the same class at school

Astrophe · 02/04/2010 11:58

Hi gang No idea about any of this school stuff of course! Can't believe your lot will be starting August! Where has that time gone huh? DS Will keep on 2 days a week at Kindy until December, then could start school next feb, but we will most likely defer a year as is recommended by most schools here, so he will do 3 days a week at kindy next year and start school 2012...seems a long way off.

LL and Friz so glad you got the schools your DD1s are at - what a nightmare having to get kids to 2 different schools would be eh? Uni hope you have a fun day out. How is spring coming along?

We had an impromptu curry and late night at friends house last night...cue dragging tired kids out of bed at 9am this am for church! Then had a big hot cross bun fest and egg hunt at Pastors home, friends for lunch. DB is minding the big kids tomorrow so DH and I can have some chill out time and go for a coffee or something, then arvo tea with friends, then church and big fam lunch on sunday, then on Monday we will all recover

I spoke to a friend who teaches years 1 and 2 last week about where DD1 will need to be up to when/if she goes to school next year. I've been finding it stressful trying to 'keep up' with school, and missiing the benefits and flexibility that we want to get from home ed. Anyway, friend basically said that DD could go into year 1 with no worries already...and we have until next Feb! So I am really stoked and will henceforth relax and enjoy field trips, science experiments and baking and worry much less about reading and maths Yay

Happy Easter

Frizbe · 02/04/2010 18:11

Happy Easter Astro, sounds like a lovely day so far and loads of lovley plans for the weekend too
Phew for the weight off your mind re schooling for dd1, you can relax and enjoy it now

Blotted, I'm going to do it just with dd1 as a 'special project' during Easter hols, trying to get some nice, one on one time with her

Frizbe · 05/04/2010 22:03

Hope you've all had an ok Bank Hols, our's has been ok, dh mainly wired into the Xbox, slight cause of minor strop by me last night I dragged the girls to Matlock for play on park and chips for tea, he realised we were leaving and insisted on coming (not sure why he bothered, as he'd ignored us all day, although no doubt he'd argue that it was his day off too...)
I got lots of cleaning done though, the car, the garden, kitchen windows and blinds, all the light fittings, airvents etc and of course I've had lots of time with the kids too, chalking, bike ride watching, puppet shows (and making, dd1 won some at school!)
I managed half hour to self tonight, when I dragged my fat ass out for a run, according to the running meter thingy on google it was 1.77 miles (bah it felt longer!)

Astrophe · 06/04/2010 01:05

sorry to hear about you and DH strop friz - I think holidays can be a bit tense like that as everytone is so desperate to have some time off, and hoping the other one will mind the kids. happens to us too But sounds like you had some fun and got lots done too...cleaning airvents!? you are a domestic goddess Friz! Well done you! Nice work on the running too, I'm sure it was waaaaaay longer!

DD2 has a cold and was up from 10pm -3am last night. DH got up with her and lasted about 4 minutes before he started ranting at her about how tired he was and she was being 'rediculous' ...so then it was my turn after that. so I am going to stick a dvd on now for the big kids and catch a cheeky few zzzs while she sleeps.

Hope you all had lovely holidays.

Frizbe · 07/04/2010 16:31

{{{Hugs}}} for the poorly dd2 Astro, its not nice the whole night waking thing and it doesn't help when people get up and then strop eh?!

I have sorted my revenge for dh not minding kids this week, I'm going out Fri night, Sat night and next Wed evening too mwah haha, that will teach him!

Took dd1 to here yesterday morning www.nottinghamcontemporary.org/art/star-city was odd, but interesting, she was a little unsure of the darkened room exhibits at 1st (movies) but warmed to it, shame we couldn't go into the giant spacesuit, as there was a bunch of students in there.....tours only
Then we had a lovely day wandering around town and John Lewis! (an hours wait for new shoe fitting ) looking at lots of things we can't afford, but can dream about!

Astrophe · 08/04/2010 00:47

yay for your nights out Friz - where you off to?

Day out with DD1 sounds lovely too Its always worth making the effort to get time alone with one kid I think.

DD2 is still poorly - keeps being sick from coughing so much poor love, but she is not so bad today so hopefully on the mend. She is very busy perfecting her commando crawl...too busy to be ill!

Last night I was sorting some old papers and found photos of us doing Mile for maude from the newspaper! Twas nice to look back

Frizbe · 08/04/2010 22:17

[Grin] Astro, that seems so long ago now a good day, for a good cause though.

Possibly a quick drink out tomorrow night, waiting for friend to decide what she would like to do. Saturday is dvd, food n wine with friends too

What do you all have planned for this weekend then? I'm guessing Caddy is still househunting, LL/uni are you out there? Uni are you moving?

UniS · 08/04/2010 22:37

bank hols were nice, but seem a long time ago. I'm working this week.
Good friday we went to play trains, saturday we chilled out round house and village, sunday, church, much chocolate and then a walk on moors. mon we took another walk and popped over to a duck race.

Another week of eater hols to go after teh weekend, and then we get teh keys to our new house... exciting.
