Caddy...poor kids....but I bet they'll love being in a new country and culture soon enough - let's hope so!

Keep plodding on with the packing etc. Really feel for you - remember you are FAB!

I have just been looking at the nerly released line up for Latitude Festival which is rather good - Florence and the Machine, Belle and Seb and Vampire Weekend to headline! Much better than last year's offering....

Am just finishing work so I can watch 'One Born Every Minute' for my weekly cry.

Took girls for an adventure in the woods after school today with Fruitshoot as a 'special treat'! They had so much fun finding bits of broken pottery and putting sticks in the water flume. I enjoyed it too. On the way home T said she needed a wee (after downing Fruitshoot!) so I said knock on my friend Denise's door...she did and then wee'd her pants before the door opened. Had to walk home in boys underpants and jeans but was very gung ho about it all.

Frizbe · 09/03/2010 23:01

Oh poor dd2 LL, sometimes its so hard to hang on when you're young eh! Sounds like a lovely afternoon though. dd1 had a forest school day yesterday, they build a fairy castle in the schools section of wood, made a fire and had hot chocolate So glad it didn't rain for them!

Caddy {{{Big Hugs}}} you're doing great with the pairing down and sorting by the sound of it, I can imagine the hell you must be going through trying to get the youngest to seperate from some of their things, have some virtual chocolate from me (if you facebook me your new address, I can send you a real bar when you get there )

Have been to local council business meeting this evening re assorted local things, I think we may have nailed why the businesses in this town are being ignored though....looks like the council haven't been reading our minutes for around the last two years......thus they've only just become aware of something we've been campaiging for and the county council has passed (when they've been asked their very late opinion on it!) so now I, along with a few others have to go and speak at the council meeting next week, gah.....I really do try to stay out of local politics....'holds head in hands' if only they'd not taken away our town manager/spokesperson, I'm sure a mess could have been avoided.

laundrylover · 10/03/2010 17:11

It was DD1 Friz!!
Typical council mess it sounds like to me - at least they know you want something now though....just have to act on it!

I went on a Forest School taster session last week which was loads of fun -I'm trying to get 2 TAs from school to do a full day session soon...I would love the girls to have some forest lessons.

How goes the packing Caddy?

Uni, how you doing down there???? In the south I mean (sounded like I was aksing a rather personal question then!)

UniS · 10/03/2010 20:45

life jogs along down here in t'south. Boy is now 4. he has had a almost completely indulged day. LOTS of presents at breakfast ( with daddy going to work late so he could be there too) a bus ride to town, sausage roll and doughnut and banana milk for lunch, then a visit to playground. bus back home, iceing his birthday cake, A JCB digger working next door and parking on our drive. an ice cream from the shop, a trip to village play ground, making pizza for tea and then eating cake ( with purple icing and sweets on).

He will of course be vile tomorrow in consequence. but heh ho. hes been spoilt rotten on his birthday. Not that he thinks he has of course. I made to practically push him out the door this afternoon. The boy gets it in his head that he doesn;t want to go out, he wants to play indoors at home. However once out, he enjoys it and is a much plesenter child.

Happy birthday to the other March 4 yr olds.

Happy Birthday to your ds Uni
Sounds like a fab birthday to me

Sorry I got the wrong dd LL teach me tto not read so quickly! Forest school is fab 'wistful sigh'

Have my old washing machine out of storage and installed here tonight, did I mention dd1 saw the old one sparking last week, when she randomly went into the kitchen? saved us a house fire I reckon, whew.

Cadmum · 11/03/2010 10:14

Hello all!

Happy birthday to your boy Uni. It sounds like a lovely day. What a great thing that there was a digger next door. My ds1 would have loved that!

We have really tried to purge but the estimator will be round at 14:00 to confirm that what we have remaining will fit in a 16 m3 sea container...

Let's hope that his initial estimate of 60 m3 was way off because I don't think that we have gotten rid of 1/2 and we only have a 16.5 m3 storage unit.

Poor dd2 continues to be the one 'giving up' the most as her playhouse and many doll's things simply won't fit in either place... ds2 seems to have resigned himself to the fact that they are only 'things'.

The older two have been amazing.

UniS · 11/03/2010 23:01

well done DCs 1&2 caddy, and 3 & 4 for that matter. SiLs kids seemed to deal with the one crate each rule OK. Stuff to play with seemed to creep into the house as soon as they arrived in new location. One niece made herself a "dolls house" in a drawer with cardboard and scraps furniture, as she only had the dolls, dolls house itself was too big to ship.

OP posts:
Cadmum · 12/03/2010 03:12

We succeeded! In fact we are apparently way under the limit now... That remains to be seen as I am sure that things will creep into the boxes now that we know we are under weight/volume.

Packers arrive Monday. Removal is Tuesday. Wednesday is clean up.

I just wish I could sleep...

UniS · 13/03/2010 11:15

well done teh cad kids.

OP posts:
Cadmum · 13/03/2010 20:23

13 m3 in storage and the house is thoroughly up-side-down! Now we have lots of 'stuff' with no place to go. Monday should be interesting...

I have figured out where the Cad-income gets frittered away: Everyone owns way too many clothes. Lots of them are hand-me-downs but an embarrassing amount were recently purchased. (Maybe that is why I spend so much time in the laundry room too, eh?)

I hope you are all well and enjoying your weekends.

UniS · 13/03/2010 22:20

are lots of clothes required in Cambodia? what the climate like?

well done all of you for string stuff and best wishes for next week.

OP posts:
UniS · 13/03/2010 22:21

that should be storing stuff, not string stuff, tho you may or may not have some string stuff as well ...

Hello Hello Hello!
Just had a quick catch up.
Caddy, you are amazing - how are you going now? I had a nightmare the other night in which someone told me that our new landlords were kicking us out and we would have to move again. I woke up feeling sick with anxiety. You have my sympathy and admiration!

Feeling a bit homesick for England today as we have been watching Roary and listening to Big Chris say 'Ay up' etc..and now reading about brambles and forrest walks etc

BUT - we do LOVE our new place, love new neighbourhood and new garden. Its so much better than the last place. We can walk to Eli's Kindy, to local shops, park, and a few friends houses too. garden is fab and we have set up the trampoline that GPs gave the kids for Christmas, as well as a huge hamock aand a tyre swing. We had a big box full of tadpoles too, but one little rascal tipped them all out at DS's party at the weekend!

Party was a happy sucess - a Dinosaur party, I had lots of fun making a dinosaur land cake complete with volcano (will post pics on FB soon), and kids had a dinosaur egg hunt and some other games and generally went high on sugar and company.

We gave him some Quercetti gears, new (Dinosaur) Sigg bottle for kindy and a car mat with roads etc on it. GPs gave him marble run and a years ticket to the Zoo which is WONDERFUL (tickets for DD and me too! Yay!)

Eli is at Kindy 2 days a week and LOVES it - surprising as he has never stayed without me before. He will be there 2 years before starting school in Feb 2012, so glad he likes it!

Home edding going ok - under scrutiny from my folks which sucks, but DD going well and I am learning to chill out and stop stressing DD out with my worry! She has been really interested in Africa following our work on Handa's surprise - we have have borrowed lots of books from library and read lots about culture, Masai people, animals etc etc. Lovely! Her reading is progressing 0- confidence is still a hurdle but imporoving.

DD2 is divine - not sleeping well (whats new!>) but not terrible either. Mostly goes down at 77 and feeds at 12 and 4 or 5am. She wont eat food off a spoon, but will suck it out of those little pouches you can buy, so we are going with those, and also finger food which she loves too. Toddler poos! Yuck!

New church is also lovely - people were just so helpful during the move and brought food, helped with child care etc. Thye pastor is great, good sermons and a lovely genuine guy with a lovely family too. DH and I are getting a parenting support/discussion group up and running there.

Good to 'see' you all again
Happy birthday to all your Marchies too!

Cadmum · 15/03/2010 09:13

The packers are here and it has taken them less than two hours to pack up the playroom and the schoolroom. I am trying my best to remain one step ahead of them for fear of leaving anything behind that we can't find room to store.

The boys are staying with friends and the girls are still in BED! They spent the afternoon at a water-park with friends yesterday. I am so grateful for the friends that we have made here. They will make it hard to say goodbye to our Swiss adventure.

UniS · 15/03/2010 15:18

well done caddy. chin up. have a virtual cuppa on me.

Cadmum · 15/03/2010 20:38

Astro: It is great to hear that you are loving the new place. It does sound ideal! I long to find something similar but I won't hold my breath.

I can relate to your nightmare as I am certainly not looking forward to moving again anytime soon. I wonder if we will ever 'settle' anywhere or if we will remain eternal nomads.

laundrylover · 17/03/2010 11:26

Caddy and Astro, do look on the positive side of your adventure filled lives!! I feel stuck in a rut here sometimes and long to hit the road....in another 2 years we will have to be off somewhere. My Lottery contracts will end so will be a good excuse to flee Britain .

I know all the moves/making new friends are hard but their are so many good points for you and the kids....Astro, the new house house and community sound fab and Caddy you have a whole new region to explore. Just finish packing first!

I just got back from a 4 mile slog but have the squits so no wonder I was struggling. Did 7 miles on Mon morning and felt fab at the end. 10k race on Sat....

Best news last - I am an auntie again. Martha was born on Monday after a second section that my sister had booked in secret. Anyway she's here now and is a little fatty at 7lb 11oz and round as a football it seems! I am going to hospital to see her tomorrow as am passing for work but hope I can go with DP and girls on Friday as she should be home.

Astrophe · 17/03/2010 22:08

LL - quite right - much as I don't want to move again, the thought of being here for 10 years is also...uncomfortable. No pleasing some! We really like it here and I think we will love it more and more as we settle in. We feel very blessed

Great news! Martha is a lovely name too Congrats Auntie Laundry!

Had planned our first trip to zoo with our tickets yesterday, but DD2 had fever and pukes and a cough. Was a bit worried she has whooping cough, but she seems a lot better today so probably just an Autumn cold.

Caddy, thinking of you moving...

Kids fighting over a cushion - must go!
x

laundrylover · 17/03/2010 23:11

Astro, hope DD2 is better . Good to hear yours fight over anything too...today mine have fought over a bath toy, who talks last at bedtime and because DD1 forgot what she was going to say because DD2 was telling me a story. Drives me mad!In the end DP and I had a row as we were so wound up!

I'm seeing Martha tomorrow and looking forward to some cuddles. My sis is doing really well, up and about and being praised by the MWs as she is an easy patient. She should be home by teatime tomorrow....

Took some positive action today and met a man from Community Payback who is ging to try and get the team to litter pick the disgusting piece of land that we walk across twice a day to and from school. Let's hope he can sort it eh?

Have also invoiced up to date for one of my contracts - was about 5 grand altogether......had mounted up a bit.

Frizbe · 18/03/2010 21:21

Hi all, sorry not been on for a while been a tad busy!

Caddy {{{Hugs}}} to you on your move, I'm guessing you're in transit now? hope you managed to squeeze in some good extra stuff in the space you created with your ruthlessness

Astro great to hear you're all settling into your new home so well, sounds lovely ds's party sounds great too, will check out facebook for photos! sorry to hear dd2 was poorly though, is she better today?

LL, you made me lol with your comment about who speaks last at bedtime, that could well be our house Good stuff with the running, I've only managed to swim this week (once!) but I will try to go to aerobics tomorrow am, missed monday as had to work...
Huge congrats to your sis on her new baby too, lovely name dd1 was the same weight!

Waves at Uni, are you enjoying the better weather? I know I am! went to work with no coat this am, (took bomber jacket instead!) but I'd seen the forecast so remembered my brolly! and I needed it too....loving the slightly warmer feeling to the air though, its like a 'proper' spring!

UniS · 18/03/2010 22:59

spring is springing, hurrah.

Hello everyone

We did it! I am sending this fro the business class lounge in the Paris CDG airport. The move was a nightmare. We are exhausted but we got back our entire damage deposit and we made our first plane so all is well.

Thanks for the encouragement LL and congratulations on your niece. Martha is a sweet name for a baby.

Astrophe · 20/03/2010 11:09

lol at your kids fighting too LL - sorry! Nice to know we are not alone

Hurrah for you caddy - well done, what a mamoth effort! Saw your face book post - glad the airport was nice! Free massages mmmmmmmm ...although not really because I'd rather not move house and not have a massage if thats the way it works!

Hope you are taking it as easy as you can.

Yucky hot day again here - the tail end of summer - but we are getting cooler evenings at least, so thats nice. Still warm enough for the kids to get nicky nacky in the paddling pool today, and throw buckets of water on the trampoline whilst bouncing

DD2 is much better thanks Went to the zoo yesterday - just love that place. If you ever come to Sydney it is a must see - set on the side of a hill sloping down towards the harbour, the views are spectacular. There is a new baby elephant who was born about a week ago, and another several months old and it was lovely to see them with their Mums and auntues all taking such care of them - very sweet.

Frizbe · 21/03/2010 19:34

Ooooooh Astro that sounds lovely, it's on my list of things to do! for your lovely sounding end of summer day.

Caddy, yay you're on your way with everything going smoothly, hope you reach your new destination safe and sound.

Lovely day here, been for a walk down the cromford canal with the family, had an ice cream! follwed by a bit of planting stuff, various veg and flowers, then all of us, dh included did some baking! cookies n cake still waiting for the cake to cool, for supper! the girls had cookies n milk before bed, proper civilised 2.4 kids stuff

Astrophe · 22/03/2010 00:08

love it Friz - 2.4 kids and a perfect day - you should be on an add for milk or some other wholesome foodstuff

seriously though, I do love those days that make all the chaotic ones worth it
