abbes = babes

bonym · 10/06/2005 22:01

tamula - 11 hours! What's the secret? We get 8-9 hours which I reckon is pretty good too, but 11 hours is fantastic!

Grace was incredibly vocal this evening when dh got home. She sat on his lap and was chatting and smiling at him for ages . She is so adorable, I am enjoying her so much - more even than I imagined I would. I guess that because I know I won't have any more babies now (too old imo!) I'm relishing every moment even more than I did with dd1.

Am convinced she is teething as she had her fists shoved in her mouth most of this evening and was dribbling like mad.

Hope everyone else has had a good day today.

shalaa · 11/06/2005 22:25

Caleb is also teething! He sleeps for about 8hrs on average but wakes up twice to be fed. Trying to get him to feed every 2 1/2 hrs still don't have a routine although he goes to bed the same time every night.

Started applying for jobs, looking for evening work only so that DP can look after Caleb while i'm at work. Will also save on nursery fees, will probably end up doing cleaning but I don't mind.

Leogaela · 12/06/2005 22:08

Nice to see I am not the only one that hasn't had time to post for a few days!

Niklas is very hard work at the moment. He had a eye infection, doctor said maybe from pollen or from a cold. And we also think he seems to be teething! Whatever he is miserable and very unsettled! Its tough to see him unhappy, but I also can't help feeling frustrated, its very tiring. Not looking forward to dh being at work tomorrow.

sweeney · 13/06/2005 11:33

hi girls
remember me?!!!!!! we've moved to bath now (gosh wot a few months)and are living in a great place.
cosmo is fantastic though still behaves like a baby, you know cries and wants to feed in the night and things but otherwise he's so smiley and beautiful.
it's a good day today so all positivity.
really good to log on and see all the old faces.

norash · 13/06/2005 15:03

Hi all,

Sorry for long post, I've been away for a while.

Feeling much better and Kieran also seems to be over the worst of it.

Welcome back Sweeney, glad to here you are doing well. Hope to see you on here more.

Tamula, Kieran has 4/5 feeds of formula a day (200ml/feed) and about the same number of breast feeds. But then again he is quite a bug baby (average weight oof a six month old ).

Anyway I don't think there is a danger of them taking more that they need or getting fat. Kieran is quite tall and lean sometimes I wonder where all the weight is. Was weighed last week and is now 7.3kg (16lb 3oz).

3Mummy hope Faith is better now.

Bonym, thanks for the advise, got the saline drops they really do help.

Jambot, thank you for the well wishes, I do hope that Lauren did not get a cold.

Shalaa hope Caleb is feeling better soon and all the best with the job hunting. I think that a job, is a job, is a job and it does not matter if it is cleaning as long as you have some money coming in. I wish you all the best with the job hunting.

norash · 13/06/2005 15:05

Leogaela {{{{{{{{{{{{{get well soon Niklas}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} I do hope that he is better. I know what you are going through was there last week. Glad Kieran is better now, we are geting back to "normal".

Leogaela · 13/06/2005 21:41

Welcome back Sweeney! Great to hear from you again! I remember before you disappeared you were having lots of long very sleepless nights bouncing on a ball! How are the nights going now?

Thanks, Norash, Niklas' eye seems to be better, but he is still really up and down, mostly seems to be down ! and sleeping a lot. Glad to hear Kieran is also better.

Shalaa, i have forgotten what you were doing before? What happened to the job you were doing before? Good luck with the job hunting.

Popsycal - have you decided if you are going back to work this term or next?

jambot · 14/06/2005 11:14

Taking DH away to a posh hotel for his birthday this weekend - or Saturday night at least. Felt it was pushing it to ask my Mum to look after Lauren for 2 nights. Even though she is 'going through' without a feed now, she still wakes most nights. Some nights she puts herself back to sleep, but other nights she needs a bit of a pat on her bum to send her off again. Woke up with a start the other night because I suddenly heard this muffled cry from Lauren. Shot out of bed thinking she had her covers over her head, which has happened before, but she had actually turned from her back onto her tummy and she was lying face down with her nose in her mattress. Think she did this in her sleep and woke up with a start when she couldn't breathe properly. Luckily turning her back over sent her straight back to sleep.
She is making lots of 'kissing noises' at the moment. She can't purse her lips but sort of sticks her tongue out and smacks her lips. She woke me up this morning practising lots of kisses in bed. If I kiss her now, she makes her does her own kiss in return. Very cute. She is so adorable at the moment I could eat her up.

norash · 14/06/2005 11:25

Have a nice time Jambot. Hope you,ve ironed your nurses uniform .

Leogaela · 14/06/2005 19:55

March mums are very quiet at the moment!

Jambot - the weekend away sounds lovely! I am sure your mum will be more than happy to look after Lauren even if she does wake up in the night.

Norash - Niklas was really so much better today. I had almost forgotten what it was like to see him play and laugh! fantastic!

Leogaela · 14/06/2005 19:59

Niklas has something to say:-

rddddvchjzfghghhjghhu

tamula · 14/06/2005 20:01

Hi Guys,

Hope you are all doing ok and poorly wee babes are on the up

Ava is fine, but she woke up twice during the night last night and the night before so those 11 hours sleep are on a back-burner at the moment no surprises there though!

My sister came to visit from Cheshire today and brought her wee girl of 6months, gorgeous!

Night All XX

Leogaela · 14/06/2005 20:04

Tamula -isn't it great to see what our babies will be able to do in a couple of months!

popsycal · 14/06/2005 20:05

HI folks - been having major computer problems which are still nto properly resolved...but I seem to be back at least for the time being!!

harry is great. he is becoming much more settled during the day and is happy to sit and watch his big brother playing etc. He LOVES his massage - it is our last class tomorrow but we do it at home at least once a day and I think that has played a big part in helping him to calm down. He is still very very sicky but doesnt seem to be in pain with it any more so it is really more a a laundry problem than a medical problem now iyswim.

We havent had him weighed in ages - was going to go on monday but it was raining . will try to take him next week!

He is dreadful at night still. We have a good bedtime routine now but he will go 2 hours at a time if i am lucky. I feed him lying down in bed but wish now that I had never started doing that now as his waking is becoming more and more of a problem. And he is waking up in the morning not at all hungry for his morning feed. I MUST MUST MUST get this sorted out - got to get a bit tough I think. COnsidering get the old baby whisperer book out again and giving it a proper go - he is almost 15 weeks now so not THAT small anymore.

As for going back to work, I have to confirm that this week - I will go back for the week before summer - but it is only a four day week. The head has somehow managed to keep on the girl who has been covering my sick/maternity leave for that week so that I can 'find my feet'. Am very grateful to that. The governors have also agreed that I can go back working 4 days from september rather than 5. I hope it works out.

Hope everyone is doing ok......got to rush off to get things sorted but hopefully can come back tomorrow at some point to catch up

shalaa · 14/06/2005 20:16

Hi all,

Glad Kieran is better Norash!

Regarding my old job, it was made clear that a part-time post would not be available (I was a buyer for the NHS) and I hated working there, the office politics were dreadful, a very un-friendly and two faced place to work.

Sat down and had a good cry today, even though I love Caleb to bits i've been feeling a little overwhelmed. He's quite grumpy at the moment with teething and it just seems never ending. He gets bored in the house so i'm out with him alot and I just feel really tired lately. Took him to Birmingham sealife centre yesterday and he loved it! He was staring at the fishes and blowing raspberries (his latest trick) at them. I do love him but it's bliss when he goes to sleep and I have an hour to myself.

Leogaela · 14/06/2005 20:52

Popsycal - glad to hear the massage is going so well! We planned to do a massage course, still plan it but just haven't got around to it yet! Think I'll have a look again for a course tomorrow.

Shalaa - that's really c* about the job. My cuz told me that in the UK a company is obliged to take you back on part time - I have no idea but does anyone know if its true? Have you really given notice on the job?
Would like a career change as well - also can't be bothered with dealing with the politics in the company.
A huge hug from me! Its hard to remember how wonderful your baby can be when he's miserable for days on end. Niklas also gets bored, I also feel tired, but when I plan a quiet day at home it ends up being so stressful as Niklas needs so much entertaining. Tiredness is physical and mental, arms and shoulders get so tired from carrying him on his bad days.

I have a very good friend with an 11month old baby. On her days off we always meet up, if her baby is miserable and she is frustrated then I cuddle and comfort her (the baby ) and if I need a break from Niklas then she looks after him. Its great, an hour or two of relaxation! Its really good to go swimming, we take the babies in the pool first then take it in turns to go for a swim ourselves while the other one watches the babies. They don't care if they are in the water or not. It takes some time to relax and get into my swim but really feels like time for myself. Also do what you can to get time to yourself in the eveing and weekend - go for a run, swim or at least a walk on your own or a drink with a friend in the afternoon.

Leogaela · 14/06/2005 21:07

Shalaa - the waffle in my last post was an explanation of how I deal with what you call being overwhelmed. Get time to yourself any way you can. !

shalaa · 14/06/2005 21:13

Hi Leogaela,

Thanks for the advice! Caleb went to bed a few hours ago so i'm aimlessly wandering the net now. Feel better already, just get tired sometimes. Know what you mean about the aching arms though, can't imagine carrying him as a toddler!!

Am sending a letter to my previous job at the end of the month, even if I don't have another job to go to, I can't bear the thought of going back to that place.

madrose · 14/06/2005 21:16

Shalaa - just saw your post, we're going through something very similar, in fact neither of us got dressed today - couldn't see the point! We had lots of cuddles - but when DH got home I had a bath for a couple of hours - i just needed some space.

unfortunately employers don't have to let people work parttime - they have to seriously consider it and outline their reasons why you can't. It is a bu**er though, but something will come up, it will.

Shalaa - I'm meeting a couple of mums tomorrow who've got babies same age as your DS and my DD, it's only the park (darley) and a coffee, but they do nice bacon cobs - so if you fancy it, I'll be there about 1.30ish. I seemed to have stopped going out so much on my own as I actually find it quite lonely - there's only so many times you can walk around the same park, and a couple of mums I've spoken to feel the same. So if you're a loose end, please join us.

If you're busy - see you Friday

shalaa · 14/06/2005 21:24

Hi madrose! Whereabouts in Darley Park? Do you walk from the City Centre? I don't drive so need to be able to walk. Know what you mean about going out, we walk round the park and go into town but it gets boring after awhile? Do you fancy swimming with babies or something? Although the thought of squeezing my lardy white backside into a swimsuit is a bit off putting

Cristina7 · 14/06/2005 22:42

Hi all. Sylvia is 15 weeks old today. She's still very sleepy (e.g. 9 am to 3 pm today) which means she doesn't feed all that much, but all in all things are going well. I think it helps a lot that she's not my first so i'm fairly relaxed about it all. I've started dressing her in cute dresses for 3-6 months (although she's still small enough to go into 0-3 months) and she looks like a doll, very sweet.

norash · 15/06/2005 15:25

Hey all,

LOL Leogaela , Niklas is such a clever boy.

Hey Popsy good to see you again , sorry Harry is not too well. I have the same laundry problem with Kieran at the moment.

Shalaa, sorry to here that you are having a hard time, do you have someone (friend relative) who visits? Maybe they can just taking him off your hands for an hour or so.

I feel like this sometimes with Kieran but I am lucky because his Godmother visits alot and plays with him. I feel better having him near me but not necessarily having to constantly entertain him if you know what I mean . i do hope that things get better for you.

Christina, glad to hear that both you and sylvia are doing well. You've been so quiet lately, hope all is well.

And for the other march mothers who perhaps are not in a position to post at the moment, hope all is well.

norash · 15/06/2005 15:26

Hey guys anyone added photos in the bucket lately?

ZoeC · 15/06/2005 19:18

Hi All,#

Not feeling too good so this is just a quickie to let you know I'm still around . Rebecca is fine, she rolled today from back to front for the first time , and is really good at batting the baby gym. I do love it when they get more capable and past the real baby stage. She still exc b'fed and therefore feeds at least once and usually twice in the night. Goes to bed at 7pm every night but was starting to wake at midnight for a feed (after I've had an hours sleep) so I've started doing a dream feed just before I go to bed which gives me until 3ish usually. Not overly worried - I'm probably going to mix feed from about September as i go back to work evenings beginning of October so I won't be here for the final feed, and hopefully that'll help if she's not going through by then.

Right, going to get a bite to eat then an early night for me.
