Reggiee · 24/08/2009 19:40

for too long

essenceofSES · 24/08/2009 19:46

Belgian - awww... your lovely DS...

relations - was so relieved to read these posts. We still haven't resumed Tbh, DH has been v patient and not complained but I'm starting to think the lack of sex is just wrong and almost want him to complain! Our poor DH's just can't win sometimes can they?! I did ask him at the weekend if he was bothered as I was worried he hadn't been complaining. He said "Don't worry, I have my little boy and he's gorgeous"

llareggub · 24/08/2009 20:27

Reggiee, sadly we never use it now. We don't have time really. We're trying to sell it.

pulapula · 24/08/2009 20:35

reggiee- yes, the info from the GP did say that its usually not contagious once the rash is out, but he was erring on the side of caution and i don't want to spread it around. Plus he's quite clingy atm so might as well keep him off a couple of days.

euromum · 24/08/2009 20:51

WARNING mammoth post! You lot have been chatty and I have been drinking wine, so I went for it and typed this lot...

Trying to catch up - first off, evening everybody and I hope everyone's doing ok. Will try to respond but apologies to anyone I've forgotten as I'm sure there's a few .

Spangle hope you get the right news following your post-wedding pill mistake - sounds like you're not sure what news you'd prefer though . Me and dh, being most likely completely insane, would actually really like to get pg again soon - we'd definitely like at least 1 more and preferably all close together, to get the newborns and nappies out of the way in one go (err, because life is that straightforward ). Obviously though for that to happen we have to actually do the deed and unfortunately so far we're with Momino and others who have yet to manage it ... Probably just as well, knowing my luck I would get pg immediately and end up regretting it due to total knackeredness. Glad to know we're not alone anyway, last time it took us about 3 months and as we near that point now I'm not sure whether I'm getting nervous or gearing up for it again . I do remember like llare (?) mentioned that lube is rather necessary for those who bf though so perhaps it's time to do some shopping...

Anyway...

Sausage nice to see you again. Sorry to hear about your PND but great about your PhD. I hope it all goes well. And your wedding too, of course! I'm sure it'll be a lovely day - I hope the planning is enjoyable rather than stressful. And I would love to come on the virtual hen night, if I may - mmm I'll have a few of those famous cocktails please !

Belgian good luck with the move - you do indeed sound like superwoman with all that packing at short notice! Hope you have a good time in Belgium. T also loves his baby gym and is doing lots of shouting, like your C.

Dandy and Spangle I'm a night owl too, very frustrating when you know you have to get up early. Although I also find it frustrating to not get up first, I really love having the house to myself before it gets busy. I'm pretty lucky in being able to cope ok on not very much sleep.

Runningmonkey enjoy your sofa when you get it.

Re playing with toddlers, I am finding that it has taken me several months to 'warm up' to the work of full time mum in that respect. I've just recently started making sure we have a morning activity and an afternoon one which seems to keep dd happy and enetertained, and me sane . I'm enjoying her company much more now that we've got that sorted. Still, much easier in summer as we can go out to the park a lot, so we'll see how we do when it starts raining. Belgium is a bit short on good indoor activities like soft play or something.

Pula I hope your week indoors isn't too horrendous and your poor dcs are ok.

Regiee T is ridiculously cute too atm! No really, not just because I'm his mum. In fact, being this subjective about my beautiful dcs is my favourite thing about parenthood. They're so lovely! (They're both sleeping - this helps ).

T too gets neck rash, mostly smelling of cheese because of dribbling milk. Luckily it's manageable with regular wiping/drying.

Re work I am due to go back in Jan but have been considering going in Feb instead by taking extra parental leave (paid, but less than my mat leave). That way I can introduce T to solids and the creche during his 7th month, so he'll hopefully be settled with both before I go back. This is what I did with dd and it worked out really well. My main worry is I don't know exactly what I'll go back to - I'm very very lucky to be a career civil servant and having left my previous posting when I went on mat leave, I am guaranteed a job when I go back. But if I want a good one I need to apply/lobby for a position I actually want. At the moment I am not thinking about it as will be pretty to leave T, but I will have to at some point. I am not really cut out to be a SAHM I think - like belgian I am hoping to work part time so I still see the dcs enough to feel like I don't leave them too much - but I am already sort of looking forward to having something else to do.

Well here we are all more or less fine - although I had a wisdom tooth removed a week ago and have been in pain ever since as it has got infected. Going to the dentist again tomorrow and hopefully he will be able to give me something to treat it - so far I have just been told that I must stick to mild painkillers or give up bf , which I am not going to do. It's going really well and I am so not going to start with bottles etc for the sake of some toothache. Still, I wake up with it at night and in RL have been grumbling like mad so am really hoping we can do something to sort it out. Right now I have had a bit (err, quite a bit...) more wine than I should have because it's by far the best thing for getting to sleep .

Apart from that, I am off camping at Greenbelt festival at the weekend with my best friend and parents and the dcs! Pretty nervous! I bet it will rain the entire time .

euromum · 24/08/2009 20:52

OMG that is even longer than I though it was . OK off to bed...

LoobyLou36 · 24/08/2009 21:29

evening all

we now have a campervan sat on our drive! yay!
and the cow print seat covers are on their way
the curtains are all down and I've cut new fabric to replace them, I'm not very good at sewing so we shall see (at least I know I can buy a set on ebay if necessary.

I'm currently sat on the sofa with DSD and we are eating FAB's - yum!

belgian you truly are superwoman. I second what Reggiee said - we'll all miss you if you're offline

euro how much wine? you are brave re:camping Greenbelt Festival, hope you get your toothache sorted

M too gets that smelly rash under her chins - sudocreme does the trick tho

TMI alert
Re: relations
I am trying but still find v.painful - even with lub. Went to the doc today to get my BP checked and told her about it - she had real trouble examining me, told me I had umm can't remember the name, basically I go into spasm and can't relax . She gave me a prescrption for a different lub and a gynae referral to the hospital

LoobyLou36 · 24/08/2009 21:34

M is poorly today she has a cold, really bunged up, waxy ears, snotty nose, sneezing and coughing - have given her a dose of calpol and have been using the saline drops lots.
Hope she feels a bit better tomorrow, poor thing she looks all confused after her coughing fits
Not sure what else I should be doing?

FiKelly · 24/08/2009 22:04

Hi everyone, not had a chance to post for the last few days and you've all filled pages!! It's taken me all evening between feeds to catch up. I'm not going to even try to name check everyone or you'll have filled another 5 pages before i'm finished but a few exceptions...

dandy glad you had a good hol even if the weather wasn't great.

belgian have a fantastic time away and you are indeed superwoman with all the packing in such a short time.

jael Last weeks complete f* up has really hurt you Unfortunately there is nothing anyone can do to change what happened but hopefully it will change things for the future? If you can let it go and forgive all concerned it will be better for your emotional wellbeing. As dwelling on it will only keep upsetting you and dd (far more than your mum/aunt/uncle I expect).

sausage great news about your appeal & fantastic to 'see' you back. I'm glad you are coping with the PND.

relations dh & I are yet to 'do the deed' since having G. He is ready for it whenever i'm up for it but we're finding it difficult to find the right time and i too have absolutely no urge with the bf.

cleaning I'm like belgian and llare in what gets done every day... the rest gets done as and when i see it needs it.. dusting is my major prob to fit in atm.

pula Hope the slapped cheek goes quick and this week isn't too bad confined to barracks!

night owl i used to be one.. i am better at sleeping earlier now but that's prob due to exhaustion some days. I really don't cope with the days ds wants to start the day at 5am... that's way too early for me. Any time that starts with a 6 or 7 in the am and i'm much better!
btw i'm now in total AWE of everyone with 3 x dc's. I had one of ds's pals round for the whole day today (on my own) as his mum had to go to a funeral a few hours drive away and knew he wouldn't cope with the journey/service etc. OMG the only times my bum hit the sofa was when g needed fed. I am so glad i didn't have twins as the 2 x 3yr old plus g kept me so busy my head was spinning at one stage. It has put me off thoughts of having a 3rd... for the moment.. anyway the broodyness has gone and i'm greatfull!

We survived the day.. there was no squabbling. They had a ball making biscuits in the am and icing them pm. Feeding g was achieved by use of DVD's of peppa pig/little einsteins/mickey mouse & serving of lunch. They also had a good run around in the puddles outside after eating their decorated biscuits so expecting both ds and Will to sleep really well tonight! Me too when i've got g settled

Tummum · 24/08/2009 22:07

Looby yay for the campervan. I think you are a superwoman too, for speaking to the GP about relations. Have to admit, though, it is quite cool to get lube off the NHS . Poor M for being poorly. Sounds like you are doing everything right. My only other piece of advice would be to prop up the head end of the cot, as this sometimes helps them breathe better at night. Karvol capsules in the room can also help.

We haven't heard from FiK for a bit. I hope she and her family are all OK.

I am hanging around, waiting for 10.30, when I can give G a dreamfeed, then off to bed. Here's hoping it's a better night. G has more jabs tomorrow. I just hate jabs, even tho I know they are all over v. quickly.

llareggub · 24/08/2009 22:12

Tummum, Fikelly, what a funny cross-post!

FiKelly · 24/08/2009 22:13

that was longer than i thought!

Yay looby your van sounds fab... hope the appointment for 'down there' is helpful.. i have heard of the condition you describe but can't remember the name either.

euro hope your toothache goes soon it really is hard to live with on a daily basis.

oh yes and neck crease rash... g gets one sometimes too.

FiKelly · 24/08/2009 22:14

HA! just seen x post

FiKelly · 24/08/2009 22:17

I too am waiting to dream feed...

Dad btw is still in hospital. His pleurisy has gone but he is still v weak. The social services are assessing his needs so mum can cope with him at home. He is too heavy for any of us to lift (inc me) and mum definitely needs help caring for him now

Tummum · 24/08/2009 22:20

FiK & Llare spooky x post.

I can keep my eyelids open no more... G's dreamfeed is on it's way. Night all

flippineck · 24/08/2009 22:30

Back again! Still not really managed to catch up though, you've had a busy afternoon!

Re relations - not much happening here yet, occasional bits but as expected I'm just not in the mood at all. After DD1, my libido rose slightly when my periods returned (when she was 13 months old ) and then got back to normal when i stopped BF totally. Lube and wine definitely required for quite a while!

Looby - sorry to hear M is ill. Sounds like you're doing everything already. Have you tried making the room she's in a bit more humid? A bowl of warm water near her bed, or if you've got the heating on (unlikely, I know!) damp washing on the radiator. The humidity can help stuffiness.

tummum - I've had neverending trouble with my childcare vouchers too! They kept getting deducted from my SMP when they shouldn't be, then HR wouldn't give me the money that they owed me for the deductions, then they managed not to deduct the money but I got no vouchers. I got my July vouchers 2 weeks late, I had to keep grovelling to the childminder for not paying her. Apparently I'm the first person in my organisation to be in this position so I'm a guinea pig!

belgian - hope the packing is going ok.

llaregub - shame about your holiday, but probably worth it for the business. Hope you get your weekend away.

I'm not great a playing with toddlers either, so a lot of what DD1 does during the day is things that I'd do normally but adapted a bit for her, that's why we bake a lot .

I got A weighed while I was at my mum's (popped into the baby clinic where my mum works, much easier than going to clinic here!) and she's now 12lb and 1oz. Her weight gain is definitely slowing, she was near the 75th centile when she was born and is now much closer to the 25th. Nobody has expressed any concern though, and to my (untrained) eye she seems pretty healthy - 'talking', laughing, rolling over, sleeping well - so I guess I don't need to worry either?!

DH is at home all this week, it's quite odd! But nice to have him around.

Belgianchocolates · 24/08/2009 22:33

Tummum Clearly you've got psychic powers to think of Fi just as she's posting

I think I'm as ready as I'll ever be. Only a few more things to pack in the morning. You know toileteries and the like and then I'm hoping to be gone by 9. Amazing what you find when tidying. I found a £15 cheque for something I sold on eBay in June that I still hadn't paid in. TBH I can't even remember ever having received it, but no one has been chasing up an item, so I must have sent it out.

looby How exciting about your campervan. In terms of relations. I also know the condition you're on about, but unfortunately the name escapes me to. Learnt about it at uni too. Maybe now you've got something with a name your dh might be a bit more understanding why you feel like it very much at the moment.

fi Hope your dad continues to get better. Good to hear that social services is having a look at how your mum can be helped once he's home.

I'm also hanging on for the 11 o'clock dream feed. Normally I would be watching telly, but now I'm using the time constructively and I'm doing a bit of cleaning and tidying.

This packing malarky has brought on my old SPD though and I've been limping around a little. It'll go as soon as I rest, so I'm looking forward to going to my mum's.

Well, this will be it for a little while. I will check in when I'm relaxing at my mums. So you wont have to miss me quite yet Bye for now and goodnight!

Nice consultant to agree she was ok to fly.. the break will no doubt be much needed for both her and her dp.

Right off to dream feed and hopefully bed too for me.

Night night all
