ses belgian had a link for some lovely bf dresses.. think I have it on the laptop.. i'll boot it up and have a look when i can.

dandy dc's are so straight and to the point.. ds announced a while back after having g and just getting back into my pre g jeans.. you have a sausage tummy mummy.. hi don't even like sausages!

FiKelly · 30/07/2009 12:28

the penny .. it was a dilemma of what to do.. in the end i decided i didn't want the reminder of the whole scary episode.. so after showing it to ds and dh I threw it away! maybe i should have kept it

Jennster · 30/07/2009 14:24

GASP it would be a lucky penny you just threw away. Was it nice and shiny having been exposed to all that lovely Hydrochloric Acid in the stomach?

FiKelly · 30/07/2009 14:37

I was expecting it to be jennster but in reality it was all tarnished, blotchy and not v pretty

SpangleMaker · 30/07/2009 14:39

I was wondering if the penny was shiny, too!

Thanks everyone for the advice and especially to Jennster for those links. I will have a good read once I've got myself a cuppa. I've not tried hand expressing since the first few days in hospital as TBH I was put off by the fact that I wasn't very good at it and that some of the midwives were a bit firm and it hurt. But I'll have another go. I do get a fairly strong letdown I think... well, it squirts across the room sometimes if H pulls off.

Ideally I won't miss any feeds at the wedding if I can give him a good feed just before the ceremony (we're getting ready at the venue) - although I would like those glasses of champagne . I'm having bf clips put in the dress and we have a room at the venue so it shouldn't be too difficult. Good advice to bring the pump though - I don't want to end up with milky boob stains on my dress! I'm also concerned I don't mess up my supply too.

Dandy I find it difficult to feed H when we're out. He's just too interested in what's going on around and keeps pulling off and won't settle, then gets frustrated as he's still hungry. In fact he's a bit like that at home sometimes if there's too much going on. I try to feed him when he's just woken from a nap and in a dim, quiet room if possible.

Jennster · 30/07/2009 14:46

spangle You're welcome. I am so glad I learnt how to do it. I didn't manage it with dd1, but it just clicked with ds. I went to London for the weekend with my sister when Ds was a year old and no where near finishing bf. We were out of the house all day, and I ended up expressing milk into a toilet on a boat on the Thames. There was no point keeping it, it was too alcoholic.

pulapula · 30/07/2009 14:48

Reggieee- glad to hear than B has improved at the 3 month stage- this is what i'm hoping for S (now 11.2 weeks) - he still has some really gripey colicky periods usually straight after a feed so i'm hoping these might end in the next couple of weeks. I am also hoping his naps will lengthen as quite often he seems to wake due to wind, even though i try to keep feeding and sleep separate. However, he does seem to be remarkably OK on very little sleep in the day- for example yesterday he only had 245 mins and 210 mins and was fine really. My other DCs would have been really grumpy/overtired on that.

runningmonkey · 30/07/2009 19:45

Evening all

reggiee another one glad to hear of improvements at 12 weeks as A has bad colic altho even at 8 weeks it is improving already and cosleeping has def helped the unsettled nights

right must go have a fidgety baby on my boob! Hope all ok x

LoobyLou36 · 30/07/2009 21:30

pula M has only had one sleep in the day in the last 2wks she doesn't seem to need it

also I noticed at about 11wks the gripey/crying hour she used to have at 6pm stopped

she's 14wks today.

Went to baby sensory group today and there were only 3 other mums with babies there, it was really good, they had some great fibre optic stars suspended from the ceiling which M was transfixed by - I've been trying to find them on ebay but no luck so far.

I'm shattered tonight. M was asleep in her cot at 8.30 last night but DH woke her with a sneezing fit at 1.30am so she fed till 2.15am but she did go back down till 7am I couldn't get back to sleep as easily thanks to DH snoring

llareggub · 30/07/2009 21:49

Evening all!

DS1 has really, really been trying today and I have not dealt with him well. He had a complete tantrum in Next today, culminating in me carrying him out and pushing DS2 at the same time. I felt everyone staring at me, although I'm sure it was with pity rather than horror, or at least I hope so. He'd run off, which meant that I had to run after him, leaving DS2 behind. It really scared me.

But, we seem to have succeeded with potty-training and he is now dry at night too. I am very pleased; at last just one in nappies!

WRT expressing, I've never mastered doing it by hand. I've only managed it with my electric pump. When DS1 was a baby I used to do the odd day at work, and I'd always express during the day because I get horribly uncomfortable if I don't get to feed. Mornings are always quite uncomfortable as DS2 is sleeping through until DS1 comes thundering in at 6am!

We're away for the weekend. I've emailed my friend to let her know that we may well be late for the wedding. I'd have rung but I don't have a number for her. She is OK with it and understands, so thankfully not a bridezilla. I've promised DS1 a beach, so I'm hoping it'll stop raining for 5 minutes so we can hit the beach and build some sandcastles.

Oooh, and I jumped on the wii fit this morning for the first time in 26 days (or so it informed me) and I've lost 6 pounds since my last weigh-in at the beginning of the month, so only 2 more pounds before I reach my goal. It is an interim goal though, lots more weight to come off!

Momino · 30/07/2009 21:53

evening all. seems fairly quiet on here so hope it's a sign that all are well and resting/sleeping.

glad to hear babies settling at the 3 month-ish mark. what a relief!

looby, baby sensory group sounds intriguing and like the idea of stars hanging from the ceiling.

pula, Harper is the opposite in that she sleeps most of the day. saying that, today was the 1st day she's not had a long lunchtime nap and didn't sleep much in the late afternoon either. i think she got overtired then because she started at 430pm to fuss which turned into a cry which didn't stop until 7pm when i finally got her down to sleep.

anyway, all quiet now. children in bed by 8pm, did an hour of housework, had some supper, mini magnum, ebay and now going to shower before bed (didn't get one today). DH is away tonight for work so am enjoying his absence (is that mean to say?). just nice to have a break once in awhile.

llare well done on the weight loss.

looby I went to baby sensory today too! It was a free taster session: the proper classes start in September. I won 5 free classes in an NCT prize draw H seemed to enjoy himself, particularly the opportunity to smile at lots of babies and mums (I think he is a bit of a ladies' man!). The most fun bit was when they dimmed the lights and had us all shaking a black mesh blanket with all these flashing ball lights along to 'Making Your Mind Up' by Bucks Fizz (funny, I was saying I wanted a Bucks Fizz this morning but that's not what I had in mind!).

Momino · 30/07/2009 22:40

llare, xposted - well done you on losing weight! wii fit is great but i'm sure running around after ds1 possibly contributed .

Baby sensory - I've not heard of these classes before, is it a 'new' thing? will check round here for info.

Momino the children's centres often have sensory rooms with that sort of equipment in it. I've not been yet.

Momino · 30/07/2009 22:47

oh, i haven't been to the children's centres. The closes one is about half hour's walk away (don't have a car). will check it out though as it would be something good to do when other 2 are at nursery.

Jennster · 30/07/2009 22:55

momino There will be loads of holiday stuff going on at the moment which will be brilliant for when the older 2 aren't at nursery. Ring them up for a holiday timetable.

Jennster · 30/07/2009 22:56

And they often have events that aren't actually at the CC.

llareggub · 30/07/2009 23:00

Our local one is great, and I've meant to pop over the have a look. They have a deal with a food co-operative and sell big bags of seasonal fruit and veg for £3, which is much better than my now cancelled veg box!

Momino · 30/07/2009 23:01

good idea jennster. I'm going to go to bed now. am falling asleep on the computer again. night night!

OP posts:
Momino · 31/07/2009 07:05

morning all.
Harper stirred at 5.45 and I finally got her up to feed a little after 6. Would love her to sleep until 7 but she seems to be a 6/630 baby.

other dd's not up yet which has given me time to get a mug of coffee and milks for the older dd's when they wake and come into bed with me . usually DH kindly brings us all drinks - these are the things i miss when he is away.

not sure what the weather's going to be today but hoping to go to the park this morning and possibly have friends with LO's come round to lunch. House is the usual tip but hope they don't mind.

hope all are well today.

ladyhelen2 · 31/07/2009 09:41

sophietom · 31/07/2009 11:12

morning all- woke up in a puddle again last night despite lansinoh breast pads J is a bit inconsistent about whether he wakes for a 3-4am feed, sometimes he does sometimes he doesn't so hopefully it will improve once he settles into more of a pattern

Had lovely day out yesterday and have bought one of those pop up sun tents and some factor 50 babyblock (am ignoring the met offices retraction of there bbq summer prediction!) so might sit out with J later if it stays nice. Also missed postman this morning with a delivery of washable nappies so need to go and pick them up- is it wierd to be very excited about new nappies?

Yesterday I went and bf J in the car rather than do it in the cafe of a stately home were there were just a few customers (all elderly) yet quite happily bf him in a packed Starbucks later on. Whats that all about? I guess I felt less conspicous (sp?) with lots of people around- I'm obv less comfortable with bfing in public than I thought I was.

It's fab to hear about all the babies settling at the 3 month mark- still a long way off for us. Although J is pretty good apart from a grizzly time between 6-8. His daytime naps are all over the place but it doesn't seem to affect him at all

spangle I actually find hand expressing easier than pumping- your right about the midwives in hospital though, its quite shocking the way they just grab you boobs and start squeezing really hard- I got bruises

well done on weight loss llaregub 6lbs is loads

enjoy your shopping looby
