all, sorry. this is defn all memememe.

advice please: I gave dd1 calpol an hour ago when temp was 37.7. It's now 38.1... what do I do [dumb mummy emoticon]? try to bring it down with a bath? but she refuses to let me touch her let alone give her a bath... bless her, she has it on her eyes, bum, front... everywhere .

I've got her on the sofa with a cup of water and will check temp again soon.

momino you can give ibuprofen in addition to paracetamol.. my doc has said they are a good combo to lower temps. next step is cool bath if she gets v hot still. I'm hopeless with °c & trying to convert from °f.. can never remember. off to google temp in °f.

Momino · 14/08/2009 16:56

thanks Fi, we've got some and will give to her straight away. I can't figure out 38.1c either! am off to google as well .

wow 38.1 C = 100.58 F. that is hot but prob not so hot to need the ice cold bath just yet. how is it now?

FiKelly · 14/08/2009 17:14

x posts temp doesn't sound so bad when we know what it is in °f does it? hope it comes down soon though.. she's having a really rough time of it poor thing

essenceofSES · 14/08/2009 18:40

Momino - hope the ibuprofen has helped. That really can't be fun for any of you.
I'll pencil in Fri 18th Sept for the morning - would be really good to meet you and Harper in person

Reggiee · 14/08/2009 19:11

Momi poor dd's with the pox . Lots of cuddles needed.

Fi glad to hear your dad is a bit better today. Hope the recvery continues.

Weaning / mohair poos pmsl. I remember the first post-banana poo with dd - any others remember seeing black string 'worms' and panicking?

Hope all of you going on weeks away have a lovely time and look forward to you coming back and telling us all about it. Enjoy .

Am sat drinking red wine and attempting pelvic floors. Please tell me to squeeze each time you see me - am trying to get into a very regular habit of squeezing. I really don't want surgery.

pulapula · 14/08/2009 19:57

reggiee- although i didn't have a prolapse with my DD, I was seeing the physio for 6 months after her delivery (and probably should have continued but i was going back to work so difficult to go every 2 weeks) and I was given a probe thing which emits electric pulses to your pelvic floor muscles to get them to tense. I had no control at all for a while after delivery but the device really did help. Fingers crossed you can avoid surgery.

Momino · 14/08/2009 20:01

reggiee, don't forget to do your pelvic floors .

am off out to a friend's for a badly needed escape evening out of the house. it's been a very trying day with 3 LO's needing me all at once and I didn't have enough arms to cuddle them all at once. I'm glad to say Dd1's temp went down to 37.5

she won't go into a bath though and I can't force her.

anyway, hope everyone is relaxing tonight and, where appropriate, having a well-deserved drink!

FiKelly · 14/08/2009 21:20

momino glad the temp went down.. enjoy your well deserved evening off. The ice baths are really just for the dangerously high temps anyway

FiKelly · 14/08/2009 22:10

dad not so good.. mum phoned NHS direct and they've sent the paramedics. his breathing is more laboured than yesterday and he's been on anti-b's for over 24hrs now. he also has a temp of 99.8

FiKelly · 14/08/2009 22:17

g will be needing boobs soon so woke up dh (who's been asleep since 7pm!) to go down and help instead (mum and dad live in the flat below us)

now sat in the lounge worrying about what's going on downstairs and waiting on g needing fed.. paramedics just arrived.

euromum · 14/08/2009 22:19

Momino enjoy your night off/out! I would be but it sounds like you need it much more than me - your poor dds with the pox, and poor you looking after them all at once as well as a newborn. Glad the temp went down - junior ibuprofen is a great thing, we've found it really helps when dd is very poorly.

Re pelvic floors, interesting that you do get physio in the UK if it's needed. Here it's prescribed as standard after birth but I've never met anyone who has had it in the UK. I think it's great, though rather tiring and generally a bit daft - 6 women in a room all being bossed around by a slim and toned physio (3 young kids herself, naturally ) who, when asked, all admit to hardly knowing where their pelvic floor is any more . But it is intended as a preventive measure against prolapse and thus in favour of more kids (if wanted) for everyone, and I gather it works - saw my gynae for a belated 6-week check the other day and he gave me a 6 out of 10 for good perinael (spelling???) muscles, ie surprisingly good apparently. Just as well someone appreciates all my hard work I have to say - what with all the getting used to 2 babies thing, dh has not yet got round to re-acquainting himself . Anyway dear God what am I rambling on about, I just meant to say Regiee do your excercises!!

Better get off to bed. We have invited friends over tomorrow night and it's been so long since we entertained, I seem to have decided up on a huge cook-a-thon of a meal and am now a bit about how I'm going to manage it all, so better get some rest, fool that I am. Should have just got some more frozen pizzas in .

euromum · 14/08/2009 22:26

Oh no Fi I hope your dad is ok. I'm sure he's in good hands now the paramedics have arrived. Thinking of you and your family.

FiKelly · 14/08/2009 22:30

hoping it's not pneumonia.. that'd be really serious for him. he struggles enough with his MS on a daily basis.

eurom well done on your pelvic floor and good luck with the dinner tomorrow.

getting v worried about dad now.. an ambulance has just come up the drive.. waiting on dh coming to let me know what's happening. g starting to stir a bit so can't nip down and find out..

essenceofSES · 14/08/2009 22:57

Fi - thinking of you and your dad. Hope you get an update soon and it's not pneumonia.

FiKelly · 14/08/2009 23:12

dh just popped up.. dad is being taken off to hospital. his oxygen levels are low and they want to do more thorough examination/tests to figure out what he's got and the treatment he needs. dh packing cc hospital bag for him and following the ambulance shortly.

off to try a dream feed for grace and try to relax a bit.. my heart is thumping and tummy in knots.
