looby, don't you go either .

password protected would be a good idea.

those of you going away for a few days, take care.

Fi, I'll be having one of those cocktails, many thanks.

FiKelly · 13/08/2009 22:55

think I'll be having one or maybe three of them myself!

I think didn't know we could be password protected.. I think too forget we're a public forum. how do we go about it? anyone know?

FiKelly · 13/08/2009 22:59

gah can't even post properly now! time for bed I think

SpangleMaker · 13/08/2009 23:30

Good grief, just popped on for a quick skim & catch up and see there has been quite a drama.

My view FWIW is that it would be a great shame and huge disappointment if we let the childish comments of one person (an anonymous outsider at that) spoil what is and has been a great source of support, knowledge and entertainment for us all. Dandy Looby please don't leave the thread over this

I'm glad to hear polony has a little girl. I always enjoyed her posts and have wondered how she got on from time to time. IMO she sounded like a strong enough character not to be put off by someone choosing not to follow her advice - I assumed she just got too busy to post.

Anyway, I agree, tomorrow's another day

Oh - just to lighten the tone - I nearly forgot to share with you my bad mummy moment. So yesterday I was wearing a mohair jumper, which I realised after a while was a big mistake as I kept having to extract the hairs from H's hand. Anyway, he did a poo this morning and when I looked in his nappy it was full of hairs

euromum · 14/08/2009 07:12

Hello all,

I do hope you all enjoyed your cocktails last night and everyone got a more or less decent night's sleep, little ones permitting! Not having been around for a couple of weeks, I skimmed the thread last night to catch up and gather today is a new start after a pretty shocking and unpleasant situation over the last couple of days . I was really sorry to read it and just wanted to say Looby and Dandy I too would really miss you if either or both of you left - please don't feel you have to. As others have said, it's such a lovely, close group, it would be very sad to leave over these nasty comments from an 'outsider'.

In any case I'm glad to hear that Polony is doing ok with her little girl. I too had wondered from time to time how she was getting on, even though I think she had stopped posting before I joined in actively.

As llare said, I agree that it is perhaps a good idea to be password protected if we can. I too feel sometimes that perhaps I share more on here than I 'should', given that it's a public forum. But I don't think any of us should feel the need to self-censor because of that, as it's such a lovely supportive group and it can be really helpful to post among friends without worrying about it. Me me me posts and the support from others that comes from them are surely a vital function of the thread! Just to add my 2 pennies worth, since joining the thread as a sometimes regular poster, it's become a real pleasure to read you all and to join in catching up on everyone's joys and sorrows - and sometimes (well, pretty occasionally ) being able to offer some help of my own as well as benefitting A LOT from your support myself. I must admit I never expected to find myself with friends made online that I've not met in RL but I do feel like we are friends to each other and I appreciate it a lot. I find it really lovely seeing people's news and pics on facebook as well as trying to keep up and post on here from time to time.

So there's my 7am "I love you guys" moment ! .

Well I'm afraid I'm going to claim a bit of a namecheck amnesty as it's been a while but Belgian have a lovely weekend and I hope you get to Belgium ok without it costing a fortune (we never manage to plan enough ahead, it always costs us an arm and a leg).

LaVache love the new name and I guess it indicates your holiday was a good one! I hope your remaining guinea pig is ok.

Fi I hope your dad recovers alright. It must be quite stressful and worrying so I hope you are ok too.

Well I hope everyone has a nice Friday. We have playgroup this morning followed by puppet theatre for toddlers in the park this afternoon whcih should be fab! And a lovely weekend catching up with friends who have been away travelling for a year and seeing FIL who has been on holiday - dd will be delighted to see her grandfather! And we will be intrigued to meet his new 'lady friend' - MIL sadly died just over 2 years ago so this is an interesting new development for all concerned. Anyway - now typing deseperately as I hear dd waking up! - we are all doing very well, Theo is a delight and laughs a lot, and for the last 3 nights has slept through! now screaming for milk though oops time to go!

ReeBee · 14/08/2009 09:02

hi all

Can't believe have spent ages one handedly typing a post which has disappeared - aaagh!! It always happens when I have no time.

Right, let's start again.

Great post, euro. You must let us know how things turn out with your FIL's new lady friend. My MIL was widowed about 12 years ago and about 2 years ago joined a well known internet dating website. The ensuing dates and encounters have kept us amused, entertained and appalled but on Tuesday she met the first man she has really liked (and, she tells us, 'fancied' ). So I really hope it's a new chapter for her too.

It's a busy day in the Bee household. We have a house viewing at 12.30pm and are aiming to set off to the Lakes for a week's holiday at my M&D's straight after. We're taking my old car with towbar (190K miles on the clock so I don't usually like to go very far in it!), the baby, the dogs, our elderly sailing dinghy, my bargain Coast dress, presents, clothes etc for a week, the kitchen sink....

At some point this morning I have to pack, clean, go to the tip, the supermarket, be around for DH's car windscreen to be changed and buy a birthday present for my dad. Aaagh.

So I absolutely should NOT be wasting my time on here!! I had an excuse before as F was scoffing but since losing my post I've thrown him in his bouncy chair for the rewrite [bad mummy emoticon]

Oh yes, Spangle, at your mohair story, love it. When F was a couple of days old I saw a small dog hair in his mouth and I was totally inconsolable that I couldn't get it out again... baby blues?! me? Never!!

Hope everyone has lovely weekends and / or holidays. Might check in before I go or from M&D's.

take care

will catch up properly later...

LaVacheQuiRit · 14/08/2009 09:47

Oh bloody nora. What the hell is going on? Bloody bloody Dodd (whoever that is) has really managed to upset people. I don't want anyone to leave and I don't want anyone to think they can't post on here - the whole point of the thread is to share and support and moan and laugh and well, heck, justbethereforeachother

Spangle

Dandy and Looby Don't either of you dare leave

Jennster · 14/08/2009 09:47

spangle PMSL at mohair poo, but I'm [shocked] at you weaning him already! First time mums, yes it's true, in 3 months time we will be discussing what food has been ingested (or not) by discussing poo consistency.

LaVacheQuiRit · 14/08/2009 09:51

Oh God Jennster I'd forgotten the horror of weaning poos.

Christ I wish Granny Murray would sod off. DD2 insisted in watching 'Me Too' it makes me want to throw things at the screen. Piss off Honeypie grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Sorry. Momentary loss of equilibrium there. Deep breaths deeeeep breaths

SpangleMaker · 14/08/2009 10:12

Jennster I said I was thinking about doing baby led weaning

H is 6 months in 7 weeks' time - eek!

Belgianchocolates · 14/08/2009 10:32

Morning all,

1 handed typing while C feeds. Shouldn't be on here at all as have a Reebee type morning myself. Have a good time in the Lakes BTW.

Euro Lovele post. I'm never organised in getting ferry tickets early either. Just realised yesterday it's less than 2 weeks away. I've decided to come back on the tues as the tickets are significantly cheaper then.

spangle LOL out the mohair poo. Does remind me of the raisin poos we've got coming. Anyone else having fond memories of those

Right. Got to go now. Vacuum car, load up the car, change C, sort out the animals, leave the house, stop at Asda for extra nappies and a bit of food and drive all the way to Gravesend while avoiding silly traffic jams in order to avoid screaming baby when on my own, phew. Think it's possible

LaVacheQuiRit · 14/08/2009 12:24

"H is 6 months in 7 weeks' time - eek!"

spangle

LaVacheQuiRit · 14/08/2009 12:25

I was shocked when I realised S is 10 weeks old

LaVacheQuiRit · 14/08/2009 12:32

Gosh, there's a loud echo in this empty place.

Hello

Febes · 14/08/2009 12:48

Raisin Poos Once DD had a nappy full of the little blighters that managed to go through her system whole. Its the multi coloured poo that is a shock for a few weeks she had every colour of the rainbow.

essenceofSES · 14/08/2009 13:21

weaning poos - naive first-timer here that had no idea of this joy to come...

ReeBee - where abouts in the Lakes are you off to? My brother and SIL are in Keswick. It's beautiful.

Belgian - good luck with your journey!

Momino · 14/08/2009 14:22

'having a life' laVache? i would have loved to be on MN instead of chasing screaming toddlers around the house with cooton balls soaked in calamine. i was hoping piriton would make them lethargic and easy to manage .

dd1 isn't coping with cp at all. true, she's covered in spots and it looks painful but she won't let me apply anything to soothe. i've even made a bowl of cold water with bicarb for her to dip her hand in but she refuses. i don't know how to help her . she's been crying/whinging for the past 2 days.

dd2 is opposite and doesn't seem to notice the spots covering her neck, bottom, back. she doesn't have them as badly as dd1 but I can't believe she's laughing and acting like nothing is wrong (am grateful for this).

does anyone know if, because I'm exclusively BF Harper, she's immune from CP? I hope it's at least a good defense. I know a 7 month old who got it but she's not BF.

reebee/belgian* have a good time away.

Ses, I could prob meet you AM of the 18th. DH is home as well to take care of the other Dd's. we're supposed to go to Manchester after lunch.

new day and my dad's had no more falls mind you he's in bed atm having a good rest.. anti-biotics should knock the infection on the head v soon too. so all in all a much better start to the day!

dandy have a lovely wk's break I'm exactly the same with MN if i'm not strict with myself.. it is v v addictive!!

mohair poop made me but then remembered why I always wear my hair up.. as I've pulled one of my rapunzle ones from ds's bum/nappy in the past and was mortified .

off to post office with some ebay parcels.. will be back later. xoxox

Momino · 14/08/2009 14:38

that's cotton (cootin?)

OP posts:
pulapula · 14/08/2009 15:09

Momino- hope your DD1 feels better soon. I guess H might get it as my DS1 got CP when only about 4-5 months old as it went round our TinyTalk group, but got it very mildly (about 3 spots) and he was BF. But another BF baby about 3-4 months old got it at the same time with loads of spots. Another older BF baby was hospitalised with it. So I guess it can vary.

FiKelly · 14/08/2009 15:29

we've arrived at the post office.. and I'm sitting in the car outside as ds has fallen asleep on the way here! luckily my mum came with us so we're taking turns to do our errands while he sleeps. g is kicking away in her car seat & I'm hoping she's not going to demand food just when it's my turn for the post office. all she's done today is feed, poo, sneeze gross bogeys and vom snot on me.. yuk!

FiKelly · 14/08/2009 16:32

momino I hope dd1's cp eases off on spot production and that it continues to not bother dd2 too much. hopefully if h does get it it'll be a mild dose.

back from post office .. g fell asleep on way home so only now trying to chew her hand off whilst staring intently at me
