flippneck sorry to hear about your uncle. My thoughts are with you today.

runningmonkey · 10/08/2009 12:16

Hi All,

Jael so lovely to hear from you so glad you are recovering well.

Flip so sorry to hear about your uncle. It is never easy when a relative dies let alone if it is v sudden. My thoughts are with you.

pula your S sounds like my A. She typically goes to sleep about 9, wakes sometime between 11 and 12, then again about 2.30/3.30 then about 5-6ish. It is getting better tho.

WEll done to those lo's who have slept through, I think the day that happens for me, I'll be awake wondering what's wrong as I already seem to be waking just before A if she goes more than 3 hours.

Belgian A regulalry does 3-4 days with no poo then will have a few days of 1-2 poos a day then back to no poo for a while. I find the anticolic leg cycling helps to move things along, as does bending both legs up to her tummy and holding them there for a few secs before stretching her out again. Works a little too well sometimes so don't make the mistake I did and try to do it without a nappy on

Off to the hospital later for A to get her hips scanned as they're a bit clicky. Am a bit daunted about doing it on my own as she's not good in the car.

pulapula · 10/08/2009 13:14

belgian- I was about to say earlier that i have the amazing non-sleeping baby, who likes to have 30-45 min naps (and generally seems ok on them), but he was really grumpy after his first short nap today so was back down again at 10.45 and has now been asleep for 2hr 30 .

Belgianchocolates · 10/08/2009 13:35

Flippin Sorry about your uncle. Somehow I didn't catch that news earlier.

running I'm not too worried about the poo. My DS used to go 5 days without sometimes. I think it's going to come soon. She's done loads of farts today

C finally woke at 12 and after an exhausting 1.5h awake, she's now sucking her thumb and pulling her hair, which she usually does when she's tired. She must have a hard life

sophietom · 10/08/2009 13:55

flippineck sorry to hear about your uncle

sleep for those whose babies don't nap much in the day have you tried using a sling? J will almost always wake up if I try to put him in his carrycot/crib if he falls asleep during the day but will happily sleep for an hour or more if I have him in the sling. It gives you a bit of freedom as you can move around the house. I don't do it all the time just when he is obv tired but will not sleep (why do they do this?!) -J is snoring (!) away in his right now!

J is sleeping well at night with either 1 or no night feeds but it can be a bit of a struggle getting him off to begin with having said that he is usually asleep by 9- just wish it was a bit earlier and J being asleep is no guarantee of a good nights sleep for me - it is unbelievable how much noise a sleeping baby can make at times, sometimes he is silent sometimes he wriggles and grunts (and farts!) so much I'm sure he must be awake. I have accidentally woken him a few times by putting the light on to pick him up when I thought he was awake (bad mummy)

running hope it goes ok at the hosp

pulapula · 10/08/2009 15:57

sophietom- I do have a sling and it does often get used for naps around mealtimes when i can't be settling S upstairs and dealing with DCs meals. But S will usually only stay asleep if i keep moving which can be tiring. He is really good at going to sleep- i swaddle him, sit for a minute or two, put him down with his dummy and he can often drift off on his own, sometimes he needs a hand on his back or a stroke on his face, or sometimes i have to return to pop the dummy in again. It's just the staying asleep that he can't always do.

ladyhelen2 · 10/08/2009 17:10

Hi all. Been away for the past week so haven't been on at all for about 10 days and need to catch up. Hope everyone is ok. Will now go and do my homework and read the last 200 posts since I was last here. See you all in a bit!

ladyhelen2 · 10/08/2009 20:03

Blimey. Going to have to request a name check amnesty as sooooo much to comment on!

Soooo, we've been in London for the week doing all the kiddie touristy things. Natural History Museum, Science Museum and the surprise hit, the Diana Memorial FOuntain - fab for littlies to paddle in. Noah threw the biggest tantrum when we had to leave. Also went to Legoland. Gosh but it was hot. Poor Rufus had a miserable time but Noah had a great time. Not tooo busy surprisingly. Longest queue for us was about 30 mins. Don't know about the bigger rides though.

Sadly our week away meant I missed the funeral of the guy who died the week before last. There was a big turnout from my firm and word is it was a pretty depressing affair. Hardly surprising really when a life is cut short like his was.

On a happier note (well for me anyway) R is sleeping through the night!! We feed him at about 10.30 and he goes through till anytime between 5.30 and 7. This morning it was 6.45am. Bliss.

He is also rolling over! He did a complete roll at bathtime tonight , back to front and over again, and surpised himself so much he burst into tears.

We have second lot of jabs tomorrow morning. I just cannot believe how fast the time is going and that he has been here 3 months now! He is out of his 0-3 month clothes now. I;m going to put them away at the weekend. Reckon that may induce a few tears (from me that is).

Belgianchocolates · 10/08/2009 20:44

ladyH Sounds like you had a great time in London. You were lucky with the weather too.

C finally did her poo. Split into 2 manageable parts

C's moving around too. She did a few half rolls on holiday, but not since we've got home. Today I put her on her play mat and when I next looked at her she had turned 90 degrees. Then afterwards when I changed her nappy she pushed herself up and her head came off the mat (which is luckily on the floor). Before long our los will be rolling around the room.

Oh and LadyH Funny to see how you're just putting away the 0-3m clothes. I'm doing that now with the 3-6m stuff . The 6-9m clothes look so big on the hanger, but when I put them on C they're a really good fit! I'm having her weighed tomorrow. I'm really curious how heavy she is now as it's been 5 weeks since her last weighing.

llareggub · 10/08/2009 20:48

I really, really need to get DS2 weighed. He was last weighed at his 6 week check and he is now 14 weeks I think. Am I a bad mummy?

ladyhelen2 · 10/08/2009 20:56

belgian and llare hello. Thank god you are there. Thought I'd killed the thread there!

llareggub · 10/08/2009 21:19

lol, I always feel like a thread killer!

We've just emptied one of our cupboards upstairs as tomorrow I'm sorting all the toys out. The playroom is completely swamped with toys. Nothing is in the right place, all the jigsaws have pieces missing and it is all getting sorted tomorrow. Aaaaargh!

We went to look at potential business premises today and came away all excited. Funnily enough, while emptying the cupboard I came across something we wrote together on our honeymoon. It promised that it 5 years we'd have a baby, our own business and various other things. It was quite funny reading it back, because there were lots of things on the list that are no where near possible, but hey, I have two babies, not one!

Febes · 10/08/2009 21:20

Evening all I have decided to put a few baby clothes on ebay. So ebay experts whats the best way to do it. List everything as single items starting at 99p or put together 5 or 6 items as a bundle??? I have bought both types myself but not sure whats better to make the dosh .

Febes · 10/08/2009 21:24

llare I sorted out DDs toys the other day and put all the bits and pieces back together. It took ages and was knackering but very satsifying

flippineck · 10/08/2009 22:10

Thanks all for your thoughts, I think I'm still quite shocked, and desperately sad for my grandmother and mum.

Momino · 10/08/2009 22:15

evening all. hope everyone had a good day.

febes, i've only put a couple of baby things on ebay and put them singly. I'm not an expert though!

llareggub, that's exciting about your business - all best wishes!

ladyH, I'm putting away 0-3 clothes as well and finding it very sad as we won't need them anymore . I've a pile for my friend who's having a girl, a pile for ebay/nct sales and a pile to give away to charity.

Belgian, can't wait to find out how much C weighs now. I've got the HV coming round next week for 3/4 month check and will weigh Harper then.

runningmonkey, hope hosp appt went well.

flippin, so sorry about your uncle.

all others, hope you're ok too.

sleep, Harper usually is a good sleeper and normally sleeps 9/12 hours but the last 4 days, she's been waking up at the same time in the morning yelling for a feed. growth spurt? it's not too bad, she has a quick feed then goes back to sleep.

what saddens me a bit as well waking up is that I woke at 5am and it was dark when not too long ago at 5 it was light, birds were singing, it was the beginning of summer... I hate how time flies!

hope it doesn't rain tomorrow.

Reggiee Sorry for making you cry How's B now? Erica is back to her wildchild self, nothing fazes her!

Flippin Sorry for your loss honey x

Jennster · 10/08/2009 22:26

sophietom Just had a weird moment on facebook. An ex colleague called Sophie just posted something about her missing J(insert your ds's name) coming back. I loose track of her boyfriends.

SpangleMaker · 10/08/2009 22:34

I'm of all your sleepy babies. H still has two night time feeds - at the moment they're around 2.30am and 5.30am - and shows no signs of giving them up. Sometimes I give him a feed when I go to bed (far too late) but it doesn't make much, if any, difference to the timings of later wakings, so I'm not bothering with a dream feed. I'm sure he'll get there eventually

Jael great to hear from you, and that things are looking up. I'm afraid I don't have any advice about your DDs bedtime issues, but I'm sure it will settle down before too long.

SpangleMaker · 10/08/2009 22:37

pula I have a short napper too. Today H had 3 45min naps and one 30min nap. He caught me out with the last one - I was in the middle of mixing dough, so he just had to wait

Febes · 10/08/2009 22:42

I tried giving DD a dream feed once and then never bothered again as I didn't think it made any difference. I haven't tried it at all with DS. I know for some people it works but I have the belief of never waking a sleeping baby.

Belgianchocolates · 10/08/2009 23:21

dream feeds It worked with both my dd's. It actually didnt work when C was younger, but recently (last week or 2) it's finally doing something. I don't always give her a dream feed. It all depends at what time she had her last bedtime feed.

spangle My ds was like you H. He will sleep through in the end. Not all babies are that good at sleeping.

ebay I'm still trying to work out what to do for the best with baby clothes. I've found that they don't actually sell all that well unless they're by a big name. I'm going to try little bundle. That's one of my jobs this week. Sorting C's clothes for eBay.

Bedtime now. I had meant to go to bed early today, but that obviously hasn't happened (again)

Momino · 11/08/2009 07:03

spangle, easy to say but I will repeat belgian: it will happen one day and you won't look back. he'll be focusing on another thing to be good at, eg., my friend's child was a terrible sleeper but seemed to skip the tantrum stage . you never know.

Morning- R did wake last night for a feed but only one at 2am so not bad at all.

I'm at DH. He is off work today so I said that I would quite like a sleep in as I haven't had one in ages. When DD woke up he just lay there until I had nudged him 3 times and then he bought her into our bed. So I was clearly wide awake at this point. I feed R and tried to drift off back to sleep didn't work so I thought I'd take R down stairs and have a cuppa and then leave the DCs with DH while I went for a bath. DH suddenly HAD to derust the car so has now left me with the DCs, none of us is dressed or washed so I guess I am on duty again. Sigh.

Oh well DCs are being cute. I'm going to check out Ebay clothes today to decide what way to list and then start to sort the clothes.

LoobyLou36 · 11/08/2009 09:04

morning all..

M slept 9 till 5am. She's still really snuffly and unsettled and teething but hasn't got a temperature - I gave her some calpol the other day when she was like this and it seemed to help but since MIL gave me a lecture about giving too much calpol and its link with asthma I am concerned about giving it

any advice? it really does seem to help her
