Hope all was well, bb2b. M screasmed the place down before during and after hers but we noticed no other ill effects. We have the 2nd set tomorrow.

I love love love those baby smiles, Uki.

M seems much more satisfied when she's feeding at the moment. Not sure how we're doing on the weight side of things but it does seem like there's been a steady improvement in her feeding since her tongue was freed.

fairygirl3 · 04/11/2009 10:01

am sure it will be ok bb2b,the worse any of mine have been is a bit warm & miserable.Im a bit of a wimp and get dh to hold them when they have them then i take grab them back for a cuddle straight away.Saying that as ive already posted i missed the signs of lucy being ill and having her 1st tooth come through because i put it down to being miserable after the jabs.
kitkat that really is terrible the way you and your dd got treated,im glad all is well with her now.Im lucky my dr is very good although im lucky so far and have not had to take the dcs often , hes of the opinion that im an experienced mum ,i know my kids best so if i say they are ill he agrees and is very helpfull.
I know how you all feel about bedtimes my dh works in the evening so its down to me and although the oldest 2 are stars and so helpful ds2 is a real handfull and i find it so difficult trying to get his tea,bed etc while baby is trying to feed most of the evening. As my dh says as hes trying to convince me not to crack up " it wont be like this forever" i think no,it will get worse

BabyBump2B · 04/11/2009 18:38

Thanks Ladies... turned out not to be nearly as bad as I had imagined it would be. Marsaili's a little trooper - cried at the shots but stopped quickly after (could be something to do with the fact that I shoved my boob into her mouth LOL!)

Been a bit fussy and off but not as bad as expected.

josiejo79 · 08/11/2009 17:17

Hi all,

how is everyone? we had a very restless night last night followed by very short BF feeds every two hours today. Think DS is having a growth spurt as he is nearly 12wks, that or he has a sore throat like me and he wants comfort. Has anyone else had the same thing? We were in a comfortable three hour routine with only one feed between midnight and 7am, I'm hoping last night and today is just a blip.

Also feel rubbish myself after catching the cold that i didn't beieve that my husband had and havinga very sore throat.

josiejo79 · 13/11/2009 19:32

blimey have i killed the board?

quixotic · 14/11/2009 19:44

I am still here! Had two nights where DD slept for 6 hours and it was LOVELY. Right back to 3 hourly feeds though now. Ah well.

Hope you are feeling better josie

Uki · 14/11/2009 22:14

Hi All

yes it is quiet round here.
dd's sleep has also gone to boot, waking up twice a night and taking ages to settle to sleep.

We had a house full of sick children and dh last week, it really was hell, they have never been so sick, both ends and high temperatures, yuck, then the washing machine packed it in...no wonder

anyway we are good now, dh even mangaged to fix the machine, I was so impressed with him as he took it all apart, and when that happens things often don't ever get back together .

l have been so slack at taking photos of dd, poor 3rd child. Going to take some today. She can now roll on to her tummy.

lets have some updates, even kitkats gone quiet

cairns · 15/11/2009 15:23

Hi

I'm still here too, although been quiet as had a lot of visitors again. B is now 13wks old and is very smiley, does belly laughs and is still huge (I looked at his chart yesterday and he is approx 2mths bigger than his brother at this stage who was a 9lb8baby !!).

Getting better at looking after 2 , am finding it easier if I go out during the day to keep DS1 (2yrs 4mths) happy and DS2 just gets dragged along to whatever we are doing. B has now found his thumb at night and is soo noisy when he is trying to get back off to sleep after stirring, last night I picked him up and fed him anyway. I am surpised he has gone for his thumb as he wasn't a sucky baby. Still doing nightfeeds but I have low expectations after DS1,I feed sitting up in bed and I have lost count the number of times I have done 1hr feeds, as I have fallen asleep and found DS2 hanging out of my arms

Started the Xmas shopping today, am excited about it this year as I think it will be the 1st year that DS1 will start to get Xmas. so should be fun, I hate all of the shopping though and am always at a loss what to get IL's.

valz · 16/11/2009 00:19

Hi ladies, havent been on much lately, these twins are keepin me very busy. just wondering how your little ones are sleepin? my boys are going down around 11, they feed again at 5.30am usually then again around 9am, they feed every 3 hours during the day, they are 14 weeks tomorrow. one twin i think would sleep through but i lift him when the other wakes for his feed in case he decided to wake an hour later. i have them on apatamil easy digest. sometimes they wake out of their sleep farting, i only assume they have cramps beforehand cuz they be grunting.

i know every childs different but im just interested in you bedtime routine? also any ideas how to cure the rips tha wake my wee men?

VJay · 16/11/2009 15:19

Hiya valz and everyone else, my little one is 11 weeks tomorrow, he goes to sleep at around 9 or 10, sleeps til 3 or 4 has a quick 10 minute feed then is back oft to sleep until 7ish. He's far more settled at night than day. during the day he feeds and catnaps, feeds and catnaps...., but I don't mind because he's good at night
Hope everyone is ok

quixotic · 20/11/2009 07:43

Hello All,

We had a bit of a routine with a good 6 hour stretch, but it has gone and we are back to 3-4 hourly feeding at night.

Do you think she knows DH just got a job in Tokyo and we are about to uproot her? Heading out there tomorrow for a week to check it out - TBH I am cr*pping myself about moving to another city, especially one with a totally different culture.

Anyone got any advice on babies and long haul flights?? We could not get a night flight so it is a 12 noon 12 hour one.

Forester · 20/11/2009 18:06

Hi all

Good to read how everyone is getting on.

Bit mixed here. DD has started sleeping through the night - yeah! But she's also now refusing bottle - not good. I'm bfing so not critical at the moment but as she's now getting bigger I was hoping for the odd evening out with the grandparents babysitting. I've had a look at other posts for some advice but doesn't seem like there's any quick fix. Oh well ...

Sorry Quixotic - no advice re long haul flight - though has reminded me that I should be thinking about a passport soon for DD.

BackUpYourPhotosNow · 22/11/2009 09:00

Yikes Quix and I'm stressing about moving a mile down the rd, you are so much braver than me oh and me is KitKatQueen! iyswim?

Please everybody do what my new name says - I recently lost all of the pics of my family inc all the pics of my new baby, i've just got them back PHEWWW!!! but did think they were lost forever.

so go back up now!!!!

general chaos reigning here and the destroyer of bibs just totalled another so i'd best go, good to see so many people still posting...

Longtalljosie · 25/11/2009 08:39

Forester - try a bigger teat. DD takes a bottle well but twice now she's "outgrown" her teat and has started refusing it, we've gone up a size and all is well again

BackUpYourPhotosNow · 27/11/2009 00:14

Uki, I only just read your post properly - I do take a bit of shutting up don't I???

My laptops still dead and i'm having to share with dp who doesn't entirely understand the importance of mumsnet and has been spending ages every night drooling over bike bits on ebay!!!

I've come to the conclusion that trying to split my brain activity in four directions is nigh on impossible and now know why my friend with four always had a slightly dazed look combined with an " I forgot what"?? Look! What have I let myself in for????

cairns · 27/11/2009 19:28

Hi all

How is everyone doing?

B is now 14wks I think and time seems to be passing so quickly. He is more awake now, and that also means a little more difficult to get him off to sleep.

I am probably going to really annoy some of you, but think I might be OK to say this as DS1 was a nightmare sleeper as a baby > but he slept thru the night twice last week from 6.30 till 7ish , with no feeds, I didn;t sleep tho as my boobs felt like they were exploding and I was waiting for him to wake, as he does not do it every night (and the last few nights has been waking up because he has been cold), but I really was not expecting this after DS1... still don;t know why I am still so tired.

Pregnancy hormones must be starting to finally leave me though as my hair has been coming out in spades. I know this is only hair I should have naturally lost during pregnancy but is is so weird.

quixotic I flew with DS1 when he was 4 months old and was better than expected. If you are BFg make sure you feed on landing and take-off as it makes things easier. or use a dummy/bottle feed if not. Also try and bring something to provide some cover over where bubs will be sleeping if it is not a night flight. For some reason DS1, couldn;t cope with the ultra bright cabin lights when he was due a sleep and screamed the place down (eventually falling to sleep, when the lights where dimmed!) so I am sure that was the cause. Other than that, not sure what advice to give, for us it went remarkably well, it is a good age to travel with them. Oh finally if bubs does scream the place down for a bit, you will think it is the loudest thing, but with all of the cabin noise etc it really isn;t.

CoonRapids · 28/11/2009 20:22

Hello - we're ok, DS is 15 wks today and recovering from nasty croup. Has been a nightmare feeding him as he didn't want much so I started expressing some. Then was overfull and every time he fed milk squirting and nearly choking him. Hence even more reluctant to feed. Starting to get back to normal now.

Cairns - had completely forgotten about the hair coming out - oh no! I think this happened to me at around 4 months in last times...my bad hair days are about to get worse!

Kitkat - photo thing happened to me with DS1. Lost a whole chunk of babyhood ones. It was dh's fault. I was soo mad. I have automatic back ups with acronis these days!

quixotic · 30/11/2009 18:31

Hello - we are back from Tokyo, had a fantastic time. DD was great on the flights and got right into the swing of things there. It seems like she is still on Tokyo time now though and we were up ALL NIGHT last night. Not used to that anymore.

Thanks for the advice on feeding on the way up and down Cairns, I did that and she did not seem to have any problems with her ears.

So - looks like we are moving to Tokyo early next year. You lot had better be my friends as I know NOBODY out there!

duchesse · 09/12/2009 11:15

Hello all. Hope all well. Cairns, mine's unaccountably been sleeping through for the last two months (since she was a month old) as well; she usually does 10pm-6:30 ish and goes back to sleep after her first breakfast which I do in bed. I had to wake her up this morning at nearly 10. So refreshing compared to our first children. I think maybe she knows that we are extremely old and need our beauty sleep if we're not to look like her grandparents picking her up from school in a few years. I don't even know if it'll last. The last three children never did this. We thought we were doing well when our third starting not waking up towards 12 months. We are just feeling very blessed with this one and on tenterhooks hoping it lasts.

duchesse · 09/12/2009 11:17

quixotic- one of my best friends is going to be in Japan for the first three months of next year. I don't think she's going to be in Tokyo though (Kyoto I think), sadly, or I'd get you in touch.

Hawkmoth · 13/12/2009 19:18

Hello all.

I'm back!

James is really the most wonderfully good baby. But I've been surrounded by a whirlwind of (CRAP) health vistors and my concerned doctor. At one point he was ringing every day to check James was alright!

James was very slow to grow after his rough start (jaundice, lifting tongue up, cord infection) but he's back on track now, and I feel strong enough to relax and start enjoying him. It's been infuriating, frightening and frustrating but we're there I think now.

Hope everyone's doing ok. I'll have a read back through the thread to catch up.

James was 11lb 9oz on Friday, is smiling, trying to roll over, laughing and (if I let him because I'm feeling lazy) sleeping for ten hours at night. I KNOW how lucky this makes me, but of course ten hours without a feed isn't enough so I'd been staying up until 1am with him, then force-feeding him at 5am... damn near doing myself in.

We're mix feeding, but when he starts on solids I'll be cutting back on bottles and I remain hopeful that, like with my daughter, I'll be giving him morning and night feeds until he's well over two.

He took 14 weeks to get out of newborn size, and now, three weeks later he's into 3-6! Long legs, big feet... skinny shoulders - he does look odd! He's still got a cock's comb hairdo, so is cute as can be.

Kitkatqueen · 14/12/2009 21:57

Hello everybody

Yank! Gorgeous photo of Leo!! Very cute and very alert!

Hawk, so glad things are settling down for you!

Things seem to be settling down for us too.

I'm starting to feel like I can juggle 4 kids even on the days that I haven't set all the dominoes up the night before iykwim?

dc4's vomiting has settled down to the extent that I discovered the other day that I couldn't fit all of his bibs in the cupboard, previously he was using them up so fast that they didn't get put away, they were on a constant loop of baby to machine to airer to baby to machine etc I counted up and discovered that we have over 75 bibs all with plastic backs. He has actually been in the same set of clothes today all day, that has never happened before. Ever! and today he's only been through about 20 bibs!! Through all of this he's been a happy, smiley, still gaining weight slowly little boy, so its been classed as a washing logistics problem rather than a serious medical one thank goodness Hopefully he's growing out of it and i'll have a chance to catch up with my washing He's fully in washable nappies now too and its such a relief to not have a leaky bottom end on top of a leaky top end!

Hope everyone is getting enough sleep and looking forward to their lo's 1st christmas.

off to find some funny threads and to giggle at shiney and her plumber problem.....

KitKatQueensSpeech · 14/12/2009 22:14

Does my bum look big in this???

Uki · 22/12/2009 09:57

HI EVERYONE

HAPPY FIRST CHRISTMAS to all our not so little
Augie's

I haven't been on for ages or even lurked coz i had the thread flipped the wrong way and didn't think anyone was posting

M is now rolling over and loves to attempt to crawl a little. She is also trying to eat everything she can, so starting to think about solids soonish, oh no to the mess and fun of that though.

also starting to get a room of her own ready moved her brother out and the cot in. Lots of big changes at this age.

i'm quite jealous of all the lovely snow you are getting over there, it's just hot here, and lots of tacky fake snow decorations.

love to hear some updates
best wishes to all

VJay · 22/12/2009 16:05

Hiya and a Merry Christmas to you all

Getting excited now for Alex's first Christmas, he's 16 weeks today and am thinking he will be an early weaner. His big brother was weaned at 12 weeks, that was 7 years ago and on the advice of the HV at the time. Alex is so interested in food and is now waking every 2 hours for a feed at night, he didn't even do that as a newborn. Will try and hold off as long as possible, but he isn't going to last to 6 months. Have any of you started to wean yet?

Hope you all have fun Christmases xxx
