Glad you had a good birthday lunch CSWS. I love meze but there isn't really any opportunity to have it round these parts. We've had fajitas for dinner. M loves her food spicy it would appear, she certainly doesn't like bland food either Pistachio!

We met a really lovely lady at the picnic who is a freehand tattoo artist. Yay!!!!! I can feel another tattoo coming on.... Here are some of her designs.

oh pistachio - how was the show?
love wagamama. mmmmmmmmm
oh- the boden dress... very pretty but sooo long on me. How long is it on you? It goes just below mid calf and it's an 8. I really didn't think I was THAT short... the pic online makes it look a bit shorter than that... I might see if I can get someone to take it up just a bit - it's just a really weird length on me - don't know if it's me or the dress

star6 · 01/08/2009 19:43

happy birthday csws! Glad you had a nice lunch. And 5.59 is better than 5 (more your usual, right?)

MM spicy is a good idea - I should try it with Q. He had grilled aubergine with tomato and green beans and cous cous tonight. He couldn't get enough aubergine... I didn't actually think he'd like it, so was surprised.

Marthasmama · 01/08/2009 19:49

Star - DS still amazes us now with the food he likes. I imagine that most his mates would have requested McDonalds for their birthday dinner but not DS, he wanted Thai. DH won't even eat aubergine and he eats almost anything (his list of food he won't eat is: Wheatabix, sag bhaji and aubergine).

OP posts:
star6 · 01/08/2009 19:57

lol at wheatabix. why not? texture?
I HOPE Q will love lots of different food because DH and I are both very finicky eaters.... but I've done everything possible to offer him a big variety of (vegetarian) food... he is into snubbing some food now, but it depends on mood I think. He'll always eat spinach and yogurt. and lately... blueberries. Used to manage to eat an entire mango within very little time, but he's gone off that for now - thank god, that is a pain to cut up!

Oh! I wanted to say - met Ekka for the first time at our meet up and very sweet dc. Her DD is sooooooo cute. I can't stop telling Dh about all of the things she could do and how sweet she was. And she's 2! Everyone says that age 2 is so horrible and they are not pleasant...etc... but she was such an angel. I wanted to take her home!! (don't worry, I don't kidnap children... or anyone.. ha!). I'm now excited for Q to move on to his next stages, while enjoying the present

Rachie - what areyou putting on your knees? I used to get eczema on inside of my elbows and I did this whole daily regime with moisturizing and baby oil for 1 year and it has never returned. But also Oilatum Jr cream really worked well for me for short term relief and reducing redness.

star6 · 01/08/2009 20:28

Good to hear, pistachio I can't wait for Q to say something to me!!

Wait until they get to 6! Looking back ds was an absolute delight at 2,3 and 4. Now he is a small stroppy teenager-like creature. Imagine having a defiant, ignoring 18 month old and add a dose of smart-mouthed, answering back teenager & you have ds (and all his mates apparently). I'm sure Ronsahr and Pepper will back me up, they get worse as they get older!

Myjob - Yay for the talking. M is still saying daddy and calls for mumumumum when she's unhappy or tired. She also says NO loudly to DS when he stops her doing what she wants. I am guessing that Bagger is DS. That is so lovely.

Star - From my experience of friends' daughters and observation of my ds, it would appear that girls need a lot more interaction from parents/other people while boys are better at entertaining themselves. Girls seem to need someone to play with but boys are happy with something to play with. I bet someone will come along soon and say I'm wrong but that it what I've seen. Oh and yes it is the texture. And finally are you sure you don't want to kidnap my ds? Go on.... you know you want to.....

Pistachio - Life might get a bit easier for you once dd can have better interactions with T when he gets a bit older. She'll have someone else to play with will hopefully be less demanding on your time. That has been the case for my friend with a 21 month age gap between her two. And her two are a real handful!

Sorry Myjob - DS is still moody, stubborn and cross. He got some Wii games for his birthday and throws huge tempertantrums when he can't do something. He won't listen and won't accept help. It is nothing, you hear me, nothing to do with your parenting. No matter what we do, no matter what we try nothing changes the situation. Dh does the angry shouty parent thing and I do the calm rational parent thing. He ignores both of us. we've tried rewarding good behaviour, we've tried punishing bad behaviour, we've tried ignoring bad behaviour...... The good things still outweigh the bad things though. I am finding dealing with his behaviour difficult when contrasted with M's sweet angelic behaviour. Th best thing about them getting old is that they go to school! Oh and it will get better, you're going through a bad phase caused by over-tiredness and boundary testing. We are going through similar with ds at the moment. I am sure that in a short time they will both be back to being our sweet little boys. It is never terrible for long and it is never all bad.

Oh Myjob! They are just very skilled at winding us up. I will never understand the logic of children. Why do they not understand that if they listen, do what we ask, then life is would be much better and much more fun. DS is the same. It isn't you, it really isn't. DS is tired and that is making him more difficult. Can you see why we were put off having another baby for so long?

Planet's where I got my dress from, couldnt remember the name before.

Wow Myjob, that is quick progress! Just goes to show they do take in what we're saying! Poppy is still mainly on Dada or Baba, hardly any Mama's. Altho she's just started Yaya and Rara.

Going for her christening dress tmrw to John Lewis. Had a bit of a nightmare with the one we preferred, the 6-12 months is too big and 3-6 months too small so going for the john lewis one now. christening is a week tomorrow eek!

Oh, this is the christening cake altho not with the teddy.
