TwilightSurfer · 17/07/2009 22:40

Steaky...also, how did you take her temp?

TwilightSurfer · 17/07/2009 22:44
steaknife · 17/07/2009 22:45

TS I took it under the arm.
Highest it got was 38.8 on Wednesday night, she saw Dr yesterday and it dropped from 37.4 down to 36 ish by the afternoon. Today around 36 - 35.

Her normal temp is around 36.

TwilightSurfer · 17/07/2009 22:50

It's not a bad bad thing but do you have a nurse line you can call this evening. Since she's been ill will a high fever and now still seems sick but has a low temp, considering her age, that might be cause to just call and see if she should be seen. Just in case.

That's at least what I'd do.

They might instruct you to use a different temp taker or even temp from a different location to see what the result is.

Hello,

I have just about caught up, I think, and especially lots of thoughts for those with poorly DC.

Thank you to buckets ages ago for recommending the ear electronic thermometer. When DS was poorly it was fab because he is such a wriggler, you get a reading in one second and we have problems getting an accurate under arm reading (usually too low) for him because it takes so long.

Anyway, I have been itchy for about a week, so finally after another rubbish night (DS has been in with us for part of most of the nights for the last couple of weeks, after a spell of much better sleep) but the rubbish sleep was also due to me itching I went to see the doctor about it.

First this involved me having a complete stress about leaving DS with my ILs. He has good days and bad days with them, but often cries, and I am rubbish at just leaving him. I know that I should be less precious about this, and I am so grateful that they are nearby, good people, sensible, love him very much and that I am not helping the situation ...

anyway ... blood tests and liver ultrasound later I don't have obstetric cholestasis (so a whole morning at the hospital and I am just a neurotic pregnant lady, great). Although actually of course a relief to know that everything is OK.

The new baby moves much less than I remember Tom doing, so I have been thinking for a bit that she must be a girl. I asked at the US and they said "probably a girl but don't go out and buy pink clothes yet." So some nice news after a stressful day. DS of course fine when I went back to collect him.

dizzy does Magdalena Isabel meet approval (nn Maddie or Maggie)? We enjoy blithering about names so I am sure that I will have some more suggestions in the coming weeks.

and amused by all the catholic comments here ... DH managed to name DS after two doctors of the church without me noticing ... so I am clearly not quite there at a popemobile level of catholic knowledge yet.
