Not sure really i just fancied making ds birthday cake.
Also maybe some fancy cupcakes. Cant seem to find anywhere that have them fancy liners you used for christening.
Also my muffins never seem to rise hmm]
Need to buy a pipe bag too and nozzles.

dizzydixies · 17/07/2009 11:33

I shall link some stuff for you in FB so I don't clog up the thread

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 17/07/2009 11:35

ah bless you. You are very kind.

I am a bad mum today, dd has been watching baby tv recordings for over 2 hours now. Not much else to keep her quiet while dh and ds sleep.
We have read books, done some drawing, so now the tv...

oopsacoconut · 17/07/2009 11:37

No1 - I am making DD a numer 1 covered in rolled out fondant with cut out ducks around the eadge and her name on the top with a candle. For our NCT party I am making a square cake again will fondant on top as then people can peel it off if they don't want their littlies to eat it. I have made the letters 'We are 1' to go on top, happy bithday to go on the board (also covered with fondant) then a star each with their names on.

Dizzy can you link me too?

sorry to look sound dumb but don't see recipe for the actual sponge

dizzydixies · 17/07/2009 11:53

sorry its just the vanilla drizzle cake I previously linked/posted but decorated - should have said that though

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 17/07/2009 11:54

ah thankyou, will give it a go.

dizzydixies · 17/07/2009 11:55

vanilla cake

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 17/07/2009 12:54

ah why do I feel too lazy to make that. Sounds quite a lot of ingredients. Showing my true lazy slatterness I know.

If I manage to get out to the shop on my own I will buy everything for it tomorow. It does sound devine though.

dizzydixies · 17/07/2009 12:56

I promise its not difficult AT all, I've made it about 6 times now and my stuff really has to be low maintanence!! there are a lot of stages in the method but its not complicated/tricky at all I promise

hotterpotter · 17/07/2009 13:14

I agree with Dizzy, it is literally a piece of cake to make and very yummy. I couldn't find a small tub of greek yogurt so used longley farm vanilla yogurt in mine with no apparent ill effect. It is a massive recipe though, I did scale it down and used 0.6 of the ingredients in a 6" tin - still made 8-10 good slices Have put a pic on my profile.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 17/07/2009 13:19

ah that cake looks beautiful.

Ok so I will go get the stuff tomorow and have a go, when kids are in bed,or I find I get myself to stressed out.

So if I wanted the topping to be very very pale blue. How much coloring do you add, is it just tiny bit at a time?

oops I noticed you're post sorry forgot to reply. I have been looking at kits with a number 1.

hotterpotter · 17/07/2009 13:21

It is fecking JULY why do I need the lights on at 1pm??? I should be outside lolling on the grass sniffing flowers, not squinting to be able to see in all this gloom

Am still in quarantine so poor DH has gone to town in the pissing rain to gather supplies, i should really make the effort to tidy up a bit while he's gone...

See you all later

alittlebitshy · 17/07/2009 13:43

Helloo all.
Glad hots is felling a bit better and miamla is feleing lots better. Hope hots follows suit soon.

vg poor ds1 being ill on his birthday, but what a brilliant day to have a birthday! I have come across so many people with my birthday. My dh is currently obsessed with the fact that I was born on the 10th annivesary of the first man walking on the moon. .

Had a fab fab birthday. Dh, dd and i went bowling (after pressie opening), then met ds and my parents for lunch. Home for cake (made my dd and dh) - ds had his first slice of cake ever. dd never would have done at that age, but it was a nice simple, yummy viccy sponge with strawbs and cream in the middle. Then dh and I WENT OUT. Into London. starbucks, Harry Potter (yay brilliant), china town then (hot mamas cover your eyes) Haagen dazs cafe!!!! Then as we walked home from the tube we got soaked and i was leaping for cover every time the lightning flashed. I did point out to dh though that if i got struck by lighning at least i had nice new knickers on (my mum bought me a pack). .

sambo loving the buggy. is ds? shame about dp. grr men.

no1 what did you do re boob/ff in the end in the eve/night?

sambo303 · 17/07/2009 14:41

dp still in a grump despite that.

albs what a lovely birthday, glad you enjoyed it

dizzy and no1 all this cake talk is making me peckish

hotpot has your dh gone to buy cake?

miamla hope you are napping and your dp is making your tea; maybe he is baking a cake to make up for cross words?

vg your poor ds1, but cant think of anything nicer than cake at a picnic (note to self: must make cake for Monday's picnic)

oops your cakes sound magnifico

Steaknife · 17/07/2009 14:58

bonjour.

Glad to hear that Miamla and Hots are on the mend.

Big-fluey-pig-pants to grumpy men.

Took DD to Dr yesterday as her temp peaked 38° a couple of times in the previous 24hrs. Dr said it was just a cold and to keep an eye on her. I had tried her on the paracetamol syrup but it was hard to make sure she took it all; it tastes vile so I don't blame her. So was quite releived the Dr prescription was for suppositries (sp?) so it seems I am gradually going native.

Wear sunglasses in winter - yes
Always have a scarf of some description about me - yes
Use suppositries - oui
Can carry a baguette tucked under my arm - mai oui
Automatically want to kiss people when I meet them - mon dieu je suis français!

She is much better today temp down and not as clingy as yesterday though her appetite isn't back, but that could be the heat.

Very of all the cake talk.

Albs your bday sounds fab. A little bit of that too - in a nice way.

and wotcha sambo sans poussette and every one else.

Steaknife · 17/07/2009 15:09

No1 you are a bit of an ebay queen non? I have a nice mix of pretty Frenchy things and lots of tesco/mothercare basics such as body suits from the English side that DD has grown out of. Is it worth ebaying basics or do you think better to car boot them? Given postage will probably make them less of a bargain.
