Lol at purée - will be getting tips at lunch. Sorry re SPd. Phone wanted to put SPf instead- am watching coast it's a bugger the tour de france is over

Essie3 · 28/07/2009 21:20

Ugh, had a hellish hour with Mum trying to settle an angry Iestyn. Seriously reconsidering dropping the night time feed.

Argh. Going to bed now.

Essie3 · 28/07/2009 21:22

Meant to say Puree good point about Tooting and measles. Where would I find out? We're Wandsworth borough - like UDC.

DebInAustria · 28/07/2009 21:33

So far so good with the sleepover, it wasn't an option to move Ethan so they had to sneak into bed, they both looked at their worse for wear fave teddies that they have to sleep with, said good night to each other (in German of course) then I haven't heard a peep from them. But she is such a good girl anyway.Just hope she doesn't need anything in the night, I might have to wake up Tristan to translate!!!

I feel sorry for Stefan though as he doesn't have a special friend to ask to sleepover, he has in the UK but that's a bit too far!

PP - sleep well

Essie - was tonight the 1st night without a bedtime feed? I'm still feeding Ethan at night and 1st thing.

Ok, off to bed, night all, Stefan has tennis at 8.00 in the morning, what sort of time's that in the summer holidays?

Oh, MMr here next week for Ethan, so he'll be 13.5 months

Essie3 · 28/07/2009 21:50

No, fourth or fifth. Each night has been a battle, and he was so good at settling before!Am seeking help...

He still has a dummy too, btw: was it BDQ asking? But for the past couple of days he's been throwing them away, and he refused to take one at nursery or after MMR today. Here's hoping he's weaning himself off. God, I hope that doesn't mean he's going back on the breast MORE!

pleasechange · 29/07/2009 07:28

debs - glad the sleepover went well

bdq - A still has a dummy, although just at sleep times now. No way we could wean him off completely

poppy - A has started being a nightmare with sleep at nightimes in the past week. He used to go down at 7 without much of a peep and just wake a couple of times for his dummy. Now he screams unless I stay there with him or go to bed early with him in with me. This feels like such a regression and it's starting to get me down. Was there a similar reason for you starting cc? I gave it a go last night but it seems to wind him up more. At a loss with what to do

UDC glad D is a bit better

neenz sorry about your CM, for her and you. Hope she gets through it and hope your new CM works out well

essie off to read your other thread

bitofadramaqueen · 29/07/2009 07:34

Thanks all for dummy chat. Such a relief to hear others still using them. In parts of Edinburgh it's tantamount to child abuse

how was your night Essie? Feeling sorry dfor myself after a hellish night with S! He ended up in with us and was burning up ip middle of night. He seems fine this morning though.

Thanks for feedback on bibetta bibs. Think I'll order a couple. I have the tommee tippee roll up ones but they really stain ime. I did think the long sleeve bibetta ones look a bit odd shaped in their picture though? According to the website the l/s ones aren't machine washable so might just go with the regular ones.

pureeandpearls · 29/07/2009 08:50

BDQ- I machine wash mine, and yes they do look a bit odd (DH calls it her stab-vest)but they do the job.

Essie try here for info. I guess you could try speaking to your Welsh GP/HV to see what they think. Nightmare about Iestyn though. Why are midgets so determined so young?

Debs- glad your night wasn't too bad. DH away last night so I was up every other hour with baby or dog......

OP posts:
DebInAustria · 29/07/2009 15:35

Whinegums - can imagine how Glasgow doesn't compare the the Maldives - your photos on FB are amazing. How are you feeling now?

BDQ - I have the dark blue Bibetta bibs w/o sleeves as I needed to machine wash them and so far no stains, I am also impressed by how quickly they dry.Only downside is I wish the tray bit/pocket was a bit deeper.

Puree - sorry to hear about your rough night, typical that your dh was away too.

Essie - how was last night with I's bedtime?

Allnew - hope your night times improve too

Well I've been to the DR today as I've had a really sore knee since Saturday, I think I twisted it picking cherries and it's taking too long to get better so he's referred me to a specialist for an x-ray. Poor Stefan has slapped cheek virus/Fifth disease, the rash is now over most of his arms/legs/bottom and the Dr says no sport, no swimming, no sun. Stefan is like a caged animal, I took him out with me and Ethan this afternoon and made him stay in the shade but it's going to be a tough few days if it stays this hot. Just wondering if the other 2 will get it too.

ktpie · 29/07/2009 16:20

Had the scan this morning and all was fine, all seems a lot more real now!
DH is off work and we are meant to be going camping tomorrow, hope the weather picks up before then.

Debs- sore knee sounds horrid, hope they don't all get the virus.

I hope the sleeping starts to improve for all of you, J can be a bit variable about how easily he goes down but if he is crying he seems better left to it, if we keep going in it unsettles him more and takes a lot longer for him to get to sleep. We go in if he gets really upset though, normally it's because he's dropped his muslin over the edge of his cot.

I'd better go, think I am meant to be sorting out camping stuff with DH (him being off work interferes with my MNetting). Sorry I haven't had time to catch up with you all.

poppy34 · 29/07/2009 18:19

Ah that is exactly issue we have had with Edie ( had couple of better nights but I know it's not over yet as still won't go down independently). Agree with deb bibetta pocket too small- sorry to hear about Stefan and sore knee.
Ktpie that's great re sCan ( was morning sickness not enough?) and enjoy the camping.
Purée looking forward to lunch
have just had to measure e for bridesmaid dress on early October - have been generous but still concerned re her growing ( let alone idea of giving her a hair decoration...)

pureeandpearls · 29/07/2009 18:39

Shame Poppy as I have a bridesmaid dress and headband that Cecily won't be using in October.

Deb- hope the knee gets better

ktpie- great about the scan though not envious of camping (am a city girl)

Amber- great news about flat (when you check in!)

Curry night here as is every Wednesday, and I'm starving. See ya!

OP posts:
DebInAustria · 29/07/2009 19:18

Ktpie - great news about the scan, enjoy the camping

Thanks for the well wishes about the knee, Dr was going to prescribe me something but when I reminded him I was still breastfeeding he said I'd just have to have a gel to rub on and to apply Topfen - you might remember that I had to apply that to my sore boobs when I had mastitis - seemingly curd cheese is the cure all in Austria!!So tonight we've invited the guests in for a drink and I'll be sitting there with curd cheese on my knee!!

pleasechange · 29/07/2009 20:03

lol debs re. the curd cheese - better it on your knee that on your boobs though I suppose!

ktpie - good news about the scan and good luck with the camping. I'm hoping it brightens up weatherwise some time soon so we can go

whinegums · 29/07/2009 21:26

Hi everyone, I have skim read the last 8 pages of posts. I have to say the thing that caught my eye most was Amber and her magnetized fanny. Eeek.

BDQ - B is very attached to his dummy. I try to limit it to sleep, car and sometimes when we're out. It's not an issue for me right now anyway. I will get back to you on FB re meeting up, but I've got B's MMR appointment on 10th August now. Can't say I'm too keen on going, so I might delay it anyway.

Deb - thanks for the messages. I'm feeling fine really, just a big jolt back to reality. Sorry to hear about your knee, I'm intrigued by the use of curd cheese poultices...

We had a fantastic holiday. Travelling was a PITA, but B was a star. He slept almost the whole way out, and was very little bother on the way back. We also missed our connection from Gatwick to Glasgow coming back as the flight from the Maldives was delayed, so we spent another £400 on new tickets and a night (6 hours!) in a hotel. I think our insurance might cover some of it - hope so.

Anyway, the holiday itself was fabulous. We had a beach bungalow, the sea was a dozen steps away. The staff were wonderful, and B made lots of new friends. I spent an afternoon in the spa, which was beautiful - on water, with amazing treatment rooms, and I had my best ever massage. Food was pretty good, with 8 different restaurants, and the service first rate - when we arrived one of the staff gave B a teddy bear, and they couldn't do enough for us. We went on one trip (DP also went on a fishing trip), a sunset cruise, where we saw loads of dolphins. Snorkelling was amazing, we saw sharks, tons of different fish, stingrays, etc. B really enjoyed himself and seemed to really like the beach and swimming in the sea. All in all, I loved it!

Hope everything is good with everyone else - I'll try and catch up properly next time. I've promised myself a week of early nights, so it's a bath and bed for me now x

bitofadramaqueen · 29/07/2009 21:34

Sounds amazing whinegums. I'll wait to hear from you re: meet up. I don't want to encourage you to miss B's jag but I hope you can make it as I think it was the only one all 3 of us could make for a while

Have started studying again this week but unable to manage more than about an hour in an evening as it makes me so tired. Am trying to max study times in the evening so it doesn't eat into precious weekend family time but it's not getting off to a good start...

PenguinProject · 29/07/2009 21:44

KTPie - Yay! Great news on the scan. Enjoy canvas life. We were meant to be going camping 2m, but have chickened out and are staying at my sisters in Bristol instead (they have a big festival there this weekend). Hoping DH and I can get some time alone with my sis babysitting too! Puree - Even you might consider camping in the tent Dh bought, it?s an 8 man tent (4 ?double? rooms as well as a living area in the middle) in which you can stand up normally. This is for just me, him and Ry!!!

Puree - Interesting about the double MMR, Ryder has his on Monday so will check that here too. LOL at determined midgets. How was your curry?

UDC - I agree with you 100% about St Georges. I know I?ve moaned about them before, but their non emergency care is truly appalling (and as for their car parking costs?..!). Glad Dorothy is getting better.

Debs - LOL about needing to wake boys to translate. Glad it went well. Don?t worry too much re: Stefan, I don?t think the sleepovers I went to strengthened already existing friendships much. Not until I was in secondary school and it was all girls and a bit cliquey and bitchy anyway!

Neenz - Your poor CM. Delighted that you were able to get someone else so quick.

Essie - I hope you had a better night with I tonight, it sounds pretty tough to be doing it without DH being around.

Sleeping in general - Ry has been waking a bit recently, however we have wrapped him up a bit warmer again and that seems to have helped - touch virtual wood. (Wasn?t bothering with grobag previously).

Dummies - We have two in the toy box that have recently made a reappearance?think I will be chucking them out before it becomes a habit. I do think there?s a lot to be said for letting them wean themselves off though?and if anyone else makes a comment, it?s their problem, not yours! Please bear in mind that I have no idea what I?m talking about. This is just a gut feeling.

Whine gums - Haven?t looked at your FB photos yet, just the few that came up on my homepage looked amazing. You lucky thing! Have the return to earth going? :0)

Deb - Hurting your knees picking cherries sounds so quaint. But hope it gets better soon. Poor Stefan with slapped cheek - must be torture for all your boys esp as they are probably champing at the bit to play with your guests as well.

Anyone watching Dragons Den? Tantrum hairdressers were just on and didn?t do very well! We still haven?t needed to cut Ryder?s hair, but DH wants to go there for his first one because it looks cool. He knows it?s stupid price (£25), but wants it for the first haircut so we get a certificate, photograph and keepsake lock of hair! See http://www.yourtantrum.com here

PenguinProject · 29/07/2009 21:53

Corrections time!

Whinegums - Have How is the return to earth going?

Tantrum

Thank you for your wishes - the EMDR seems to have helped massively with my insomnia, previously couldn't sleep before about 2am, but had an early night last night and am yawning as I type.

neenztwinz · 29/07/2009 22:00

£25 for a kids haircut!! I baulked at £5.50 in our local barbers

ktpie, so glad the scan went well.

PP, how you feeling after your treatment? Will you have more sessions?

Whinegums, glad you had an amazing time in Maldives, bummer about the extra cost for flights tho. Will try to check out your photos on FB.

Sleep - well, E is taking ages to settle at 7pm, and I think it is worse when I have been at work. But we just leave her to cry (scream), and go back in after 10 mins then 10/20mins and rub her back. I think she is old enough now to know it is bedtime and she is tired cos she only has 90mins daytime sleep now. She starts screaming as soon as we get her PJs on after her bath cos she knows what is coming. It is not nice to listen to, sometimes it takes her 30mins to drop off, but I am not prepared to go down the rocking/cuddling to sleep route. It would only lead to doing cc further down the line. I think she knows exactly what is happening and her crying (screaming) is just because she doesn't want to go to bed, not cos there is anything wrong. They are sleeping in till 8am/8.30am at the moment so can't complain.

PenguinProject · 29/07/2009 22:18

it'd be £50 for you Neenz! It's really a treat for DH rather than Ryder I think.

Feeling pretty good today, better than I have for about a week. Don't know if that was the EMDR or just having a good nights sleep. Yes more sessions to come, next one on Weds, apparently it normally takes 3 or 4 sessions (luckily it's covered by my health insurance).

Off to bed now, night all!

bitofadramaqueen · 29/07/2009 22:30

£25!!!!!!! we thought we'd splashed out taking S to a fancy kids hairdressers in Edinburgh - it was about 10 or 12 quid and had cbeebies in place of nitlrrors, big ride-ons to sit on instead of chairs and we got a cheap looking certificate and lock of hair.

Thanks for further supportive comments about dummy use. We've managed to quite successfully restrict it a lot over the last couple of days. I think we'll carry on with that till we can get to a point where it's for bedtime only. S really was starting to demand it more and more so I think it's the right time for us to take some action. Tackling the issue of him coming home from nursery and going straight to the tv and pointing to it might be harder to deal with...

bitofadramaqueen · 29/07/2009 22:32

Mirrors!

vivaGlasvegas · 29/07/2009 22:36

quick message, struggling to keep up these days as I am also trying to study for more bloody post graduate exams. I wish I got paid more for each exam I had to sit, instead of having to pay to sit the damn things! bdq I feel your pain.

yay for the EDMR PP

yay for the scan KTpie

boo for the sore knee deb

can't remember what else I wanted to comment on, hope everyone is well!

vivaGlasvegas · 29/07/2009 22:39

dummies come and visit us, C is the dummy police! Having refused to take one herself, she has an embarrassing tendency to crawl up to children with a dummy and remove them forcibly from the other child. She then throws them across the room, or sits on them.
