Kayzr · 27/06/2009 11:53

Pmk That is awful. I do think that you will get it back though.

pmk1 · 27/06/2009 13:01

Apparently I am covered with Private banking anyway, although they haven't proven to be any help with stuff in the past.... So annoyed.. do I need to go back to old school and use cash withdrawn from the freakin branch? dodgy bastards....

Kayzr · 27/06/2009 13:09

We bank with HSBC(want to change though). If we want to withdraw cash from the branch we need to write out a cheque and take 2 forms of ID. Drives me mad.

zoejeanne · 27/06/2009 14:09

hi, I'm still feeling miserabe today - and on top of the hot/cold/hot again, I've got a very hard and sore boob which is really painful. I've just fed DD from that side which has eased it a bit, but as her feeds are smaller these days its still quite full. Has anyone got any hints or tips to ease it?

Thanks for all the directed at DH (and njan virtual walk with DD) - this morning he had no idea that I'd been up for more than 3 hours with DD crying for half of that. How deep can that man sleep? He took DD this morning so I could rest and now he's gone off to his stag do - he offer to not go, to which my response was along the lines of 'if you want to be helpful then go, we'll get on better if its just me' - a little childish but I felt better for saying it. Now me and DD are channel hopping between wimbledon and grease 2, and loving them both!

spot your night sounds truly awful, I'm willing those teethto appear v soon for you

trace hurrah for another nights sleep, you must feel full of beans today

pmk can't offer any advice on the bank, apart from a big virtual hug - hope the cash is back in your account very soon

sybilfaulty · 27/06/2009 15:11

ZJ - could that be mastitis? I'd say feed feed feed on that side, shower with hot water directly on the boob and phone GP tomorrow for ABs if not significantly better. Huge hugs and sympathy.

PMK - money thing is furious but I am sure you will get it back. A similar thing happened to me with LLoyds and took only a couple of weeks to sort. Verso had hers done too as I recall.

Back later.

tillyfernackerpants · 27/06/2009 16:06

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been on recently, real life been getting in the way & was on holiday last week.

Am just bookmarking my place & am off to read back to catch up...

tillyfernackerpants · 27/06/2009 18:13

Ok, in no particular order...

kayz wow, ds2 is crawling? That's brilliant , apart from not being able to leave him anywhere now of course! How are your plans for Paris coming along?

zj Race for life is tomorrow (eek)! How are you feeling? Hope you're feeling a little better

Grey's Anatomy, I'm just catching up on now so no spoilers please. I'm about to start the first episode of the finale!

ladyt well done on the pub quiz . Hope you're enjoying your time in London! Congratulations to your friends btw, that's fantastic news!

verso congratulations on the job! I hope it all works out for you, you deserve it

arti brilliant news on the sleeping front, well done Mrs Sleep!

hi spiggy impressive birth story!

Also, hi to staines nice to see new people joining us!

spot lol @ first erection milestone! Wait until they start playing with them in the bath & asking why their willy gets harder! Sorry to hear PUPD isn't working. I'm not sure if I have any other advice though. Would you like me to have a look through some of my books to see what advice they have to offer?

veggie sorry to hear about your flooded basement, but am glad your memories were saved. It was very touching the ones you mentioned.

I'm sure there's more I wanted to say, I will have another look to see what I've missed.

We spent last week at CentreParcs which was utterly fab. In fact I want to move there, as it tired out both ds's to the point where they were sleeping 13 hours a night . Plus it was the first time they've shared a room which was a big success! Really funny & sweet to hear them chatting to each other over the monitor

spiggy · 27/06/2009 19:21

pmk- when this happened on DP's debit card Halifax refunded the money as soon as he signed a form to show which were the fraudulant transactitions- it only took a few days. Luckily it had been spotted early. Hope it gets sorted quickly.

zj that sounds like a blocked duct- feed as much as possible from that side. Express if possible, while massaging the sore bit. Directing a showerhead on it can encourage the milk to flow which is the best thing to relieve it. Hope it clears up soon.
As for your DH- I thought you were very restrained. Mine would have been woken very quickly (and possibly painfully ) in similar circumstances.

Have endured enjoyed family lunch with all of DP's extended family today. DD had a whale of a time sampling everyone's lunch although FIL came very close to getting an earful with his constant references to how I have clearly starving her not giving her bottles and a full roast dinner from birth. Mind you at least with DD he didn't attempt to initiate weaning himself like he did with DS (Ribena and chocolate buttons at 3 months )

tillyfernackerpants · 27/06/2009 19:23

spiggy, sounds like a nice day. Though I feel for you with fil! I had to steal my dad's spoon on holiday to stop him giving ds2 icecream. A tiny little bit, fine, constant spoons, not fine!

zoejeanne · 27/06/2009 20:14

Hi, thanks for all the boob advice. I wasn't convinced that DD would go for lots of feeding, as she's a 3 big meals a day girl and rarely (except on swimming days) asks for milk between these meals. But this afternoon she did ask for a feed, despite a big lunch - she must have known. That second feed really made a difference to my boob, and then very good bedtime feed. I'm off for a hot shower now and then bed. One more question - should I feed exclusively from the bad side, or keep feeding from the good as well

artichokes · 27/06/2009 21:22

Zoe, you poor thing, the last 24 hours have not been fun for you have they? When I had mastititis I always offered the ba boob first at every feed. Then I offered the other boob if she was still hungry. You don't want to totally neglect the healthy side otherwise it might bet a blocked duct too.

Was it just me and Zoe who lost this thread? It has stopped appearing in my "Threads I'm On" and in the list of post-natal threads. I only found it by posting a thread asking about it which Zoe found and she then gave me a link to click directly here. Is it because I have a Mac? Any other Mac users with probs?

Sybil, I am so glad your health worries have been resolved. I sympathise on the nanny front. I have been interviewing new nannies all week but none of them compare well to our current nanny. Its just gutting that we are losing her.

Spot, how is T now? In my experience the teeth stop bothering them the moment they poke through the gum so you never see any evidence of the problem until its over. I am so on your behalf about the tongue-tie.

Staines, you asked about Mrs Sleep. She was quite expensive (£100 for each night she stayed over) but she was worth every penny IMO. Sadly she now only works with families in West London and she is moving back to Ireland in July. If you want a sleep consultant I can ask her for recommendations near you (I presume you live in Staines!). She seems to know lots of people.

Welcome back Tilly. I am glad Centre Parcs was fun. 13 hours of sleep from both boys .

Trace, yay for P's new sleep talent. Long may this new pattern continue.

Gosh it is hot. How can it be this close despite the fact its raining? I am worried about DD2 as she is in a 2.5 tog sleeping bag (the winter tog). She only has a vest on underneath, and the bag does not feel that thick, but I am still worried. The problem is she just wont sleep in the summer bag. Mrs Sleep tried twice and concluded she needed the snug feeling as she screamed and screamed in the summer tog. Hmmm. Children. They just don't know what best for them.

DH left for a week in Lithuania today. I have a whole week of being out numbered by the kids. I am terrified . Veggie I just don't know how you do it. I become obsessed with fears that I will get ill. Or they will both be ill. Or non of us will sleep (quite likely in this weather). I cried when DH left and DD1 kept hugging me and going "I'll look after you Mummy, don't worry" - sooo sweet. I think I was particularly sad because Monday is the five year anniversary of my mother's death and Tuesday is my birthday. Now a great week to be DH-less.

artichokes · 27/06/2009 21:37

Arrrgghhhhh, this thread is still not showing up anywhere for me, even though I just posted on it!!!!! Is this just me?

And on a happier note I wanted to say I love Grey's Anatomy. We are having a TV free summer but I have been Sky+ing Grey's and now that DH is away I am going to watch it all . I guess there are some advantages to him being absent .

traceface · 27/06/2009 21:54

arti I'm sorry the thread seems to be working fine for me. How have nights been since Mrs Sleep left? I hope your week is much more pleasant than you're anticipating...don't forget to come on here and let off steam in the basket
ZJ poor poor you. Big hugs going up the A1079 to you...if you're hot and cold then it could be mastitis. I've had it twice. The shower/massage thing helped, and feeding lots (but also from the good boob too) and both times it got better after only 1 or 2 days of antibiotics. Really hope things look up for you soon.
Sybil great news on your health but poo to the nanny situation. Hope you find a perfect Mary Poppins very soon.
Tilly lovely to see you back again
spot hoping for a much better night for you.
P has already woken for a feed after only 2.5 hours asleep so I'm not too hopeful for the hatrick!
Well Lucy enjoyed her friend's party - she went as a cat and I was quite impressed with my fancy dress efforts! I bit of face paint and several mutilated pairs of black tights - she looked very feline! Then we've had a BBQ this evening with my in-laws and my sister and her partner, which has been nicer than I expected! Did too much meat as usual so will be eating burgers and chicken wings for the next few days...I made some yummy skewers of strawberries and brownies which went down very well!
Right I'm off to bed as P has gone back to sleep.
nighty night xxx

Nolda · 27/06/2009 21:58

Hi Arti, sorry that you are on your own this week of all weeks, I hope it passes speedily and without mishap. Good news about the goggle box though . I've just been watching [whispers] Home & Away on Demand Five to escape Crosby Stills and Nash at Glastonbury. I do apologise for my terrible taste in tv, I'm sure DH would like to ban me from watching if he could.

Big "Hello" to everyone else, especially Staines and Spiggy. I'm off to bed now as DS is a very early riser!

modernlove · 27/06/2009 23:00

Good evening ladies. Sorry I have not been on for a while. Started back at work two weeks ago (only part time but busy!!) and have had an up and down week as DH's grandma went into hospitalso we spent a couple of days over in Leeds seeing her and family. She is fine now. It's funny how families can pass messages on in panic. We were told by sil that she had been resuscitated and was being kept alive to say goodbye to everyone. Therefore DH thought she was on a ventilator (but I felt this unlikely for a frail 90year old in a nursing home with chronic illnesses!). We arrived separately at the hospital and she had had a small stroke but completely recovered (tia) - so will be out in a couple of days with any luck.
On my way back yesterday I got caught up on M60 in traffic (for take that concert) and sat there in the sun for 2 hours - poor DS - slept for most of it but when he woke he looked so puzzled and was so hot - sweat was dripping off his face and I had no water in car. I was wiping his face with baby wipes to cool him ( no air con in my car).

Baby group news - people have stopped inviting the poor lady with five children - she's not really aware yet but tried to invite everyone to hers but we were going to someone elses that day (that person panicked and invited her in the end - although they had left fork marks in her wooden floor on a previous visit). Horrible situation - I'll keep inviting her when my turn comes and hope it's sunny for children to go in garden!

Have only had quick chance to skim but...

Hello and welcome to Staines and Spiggy.
Nolda - I occasionally keep up with events in the bay but RL friends do not know this!!
Bisou and JJ - those recipes look yum so wi'll try them out and post one of my own when next get a chance.
Trace - was going to say go for the school nurse job but as I continued to read I found you had. It's just not worth staying in a job you are unhappy in. I nearly left my job a few years ago (with support of DH before we got married) but changed direction slightly and much happier now!
Triangular poo??? Not sure what you are all on about - is this something I will experience soon?!
veggie - how is training going? Well done with peas - slugs ate mine! Very sad about damage to some of your memory box - I keep lots of things like this and do enjoy spending time going over things. Am so glad not everything was ruined. Also funny to hear you say about Parramatta ( I assume you mean outside Sydney) - spent a month there doing work experience at the hospital about ten years ago!
Spot - I'm shocked about the possible tongue tie and the fact it has not been picked up earlier. Did you say you were going to GP for confirmation - have you been yet?
lal - hopeyou enjoy the hen weekend. The last one I went on was when I was 8weeks pregnant - i did paint balling but didn't drink (and someone asked me 'are you not into this sort of thing?' when they were doing drinking games - I assured her that in normal circumstances I'd be more than enjoying it!!)
mom - grays anatomy - I've only just finished series three on dvd so way behind you guys!
zj - sorry about your dreadful night.
lady - well done on pub quiz - I'm not very good at things like that!

I think that's enough now - shattered after this week but after work this morning attended a lovely naming ceremony (but DS and DH missed it all as he started crying so they left the room).

Also I think people like inlaw stories - while at the hospital my mil's sister (they don't get on but my mil is lovely) insinuated that I was lazy for breast feeding as I could get out of doing other things, adding the question ' is it restful for you just sat there?' (not really when DH's grandma was in A&E)and telling someone to hand a screaming baby to me as I was 'sat in the corner doing nothing' when I was still obviously feeding DS. I suppose she was stressed about the hospital visit so I won't rant too much.

Many thanks for reading the ramble,

Modern xx

Morning, Zoe hope you had a better sleep, Spot and Sybil, hope you are OK, it sounds like a stressful time at the moment.

Arti, is Mrs Sleep did still working ? I think DS2 is waking not out of hunger anymore (I think the heat is waking him at the moment, though), but out of habit. I'm am scared to let him make too much noise in case he wakes DS1 up (and by this I mean conversational yelling as much as anything, he is a very noisy baby).

I have not had an unbroken night sleep for 6 months of his life, and then I suppose quite a few months of pregnancy before that. I could really do with one. I'm back at work on Wednesday and its bad enough trying to remeber what to oack in everyones bags, let alone do a job.

notjustanumber · 28/06/2009 07:29

PMK did you hear from the bank in the end ?Do they know where it happened ? Someone bought a washing machine, a TV, and paid for the congestion charge on my CC once. I was scared I would have to prove it wasnt me, but I didnt, fortunately.

zoejeanne · 28/06/2009 07:45

hi everyone, thanks for the sympathy. I had a good nights sleep last night, DD woke at 2, 5 and 7 and settled easily for me, so I feel better for some rest. When she first woke my 'good' boob felt full and hard so I fed her off that one and this morning both are feeling normal again. Still got a temperature and cold sweats, but I'm hoping that's something else and I haven't got mastitis

arti I still can't see the thread - I've put a watch on that one you and I were on and keep using the link to get in - very annoying. We don't have a mac, so its not that. And I'm having the same problem from the PC, laptop and phone, so I'm assuming its something to do with my profile?? Very strange. I hope your week without DH passes quickly, and that you have a good birthday. Bless your DD for looking after you.

Hi to modernlove, good to hear from you. I can't even imagine squeezing work in around all this parenting so I am very impressed. I'm glad your grandma IL (can you have a grandma in law?) is getting better again, and I chuckled at your IL story - crazy lady!

Trace do you have any of those kebabs left? I think they might make me better

zoejeanne · 28/06/2009 07:47

Just gone back to DD, as I'd left her on her playgym. She's rolled all the way across the lounge and is now reading yesterdays paper . Very clever, my little girl!

Kayzr · 28/06/2009 07:50

Morning,

Tilly Glad you had a good time. I've always thought that centerparcs looks really nice.

Arti Hope this week goes really really quickly.

Zoe Hope you feel better soon. It's fun when they start rolling around isn't it?

DS1 wants to walk to the castle. He won't have breakfast or get dressed, just wants to go to the castle!

Hope you are all having good weekends.

spotofcheerfulness · 28/06/2009 08:05

Welcome back, WG, and hi Modern, blimey sounds like you've been having a really hard time. Sorry about your DH's grandma and nightmare journey home. Glad she's better though. What does it feel like to be back at work?

Arti, you poor thing, I'm not surprised you are feeling apprehensive about this week, esp in this heat. No answers here 'cept off to Homebase today to see if they have any portable air conditioning units left. Do you think you could get one for DD2's room?

T up and crying 5 times in the night, is totally off his food and has a cough and a cold so not sure what's bothering him the most but he's a v unhappy fellow. Plus the heat.

Is there any general advice out there for looking after babies in this heat?

Kayzr · 28/06/2009 08:12

Spot With DS1 most nights during summer he just slept in a nappy. We would put a blanket over him if he felt cold. Babies will wake up if they are too cold so you shouldn't have to worry about him getting too cold.

notjustanumber · 28/06/2009 08:57

Spot We have a portable air con unit which really helps in this heat. Plus DS just sleeps in a vest/or a babygrow. The room warms up a bit once the con is off but it does help to get rid of the suffocating edge to the heat IYKWIM. Its a bit too noisy to leave on all night though, for me anyway.

modernlove · 28/06/2009 12:18

spot - being back at work is better than I thought it would be. In my ideal world I would be a SAHM but on those two days at work it's nice to have my brain ticking over and meeting people. It's nice to be brought a cup of tea and be able to drink the whole thing! I'm lucky that my mum has DS one day and DH has him on Saturday mornings and I haven't felt bad leaving him at all.
Am sorry you had a bad night. The heat upsets DS at times. We let him sleep in just a t-shirt and nappy last night (and will quietly tell you that he slept through - this is v v unusual for him but after last week I needed that sleep and had been dreading last night!) SOme nights this week he has just been in his vest.

njan - my DH wants one of those portable air con units but I'm worried we'll end up arguing over whether to have it on or not as I really feel the cold (and he is always hot).

zj - glad you are feeling a bit better this morning. I suppose she is my grandma in law, hadn't thought about it ( I just refer to her as grandma now as all my grandparents aren't around anymore)

DS has woken from his nap...
