Hi madremia! You guys must be scorching out there, mym parents retired to Spain a couple of years ago (Mazarron) and find it really going in the summer.

Slickbird · 21/06/2009 10:42

Welcome Madremia Never too late to join! If you discover the sleeping tips pass them on to me!

FB didn't sleep well last night, neither did DD2 (new room I'm guessing), DH snored and I got zero sleep too. My back is killing me after shifting all the rooms around yesterday and to top it off me and DH had an absolute STONKER of an argument (never seen him so angry in years). In fact, it got so bad that he threw his guitar (much loved) across the room and it's split the head-stock. He was near tears. . He has a rehearsal tomorrow night too. So he's hoping it can be fixed. I felt really bad for him as neither of us are the violent type at all and both have to be really pushed to throw something across the room. The last time he did that was about 10 years ago. . Anyway, we are feeling better this morning and have vowed no more arguments (it'll never happen, but we can dream) and more sex. Cos at the moment we've had none for months because we both have 'The Fear!'. He's going to call about getting the snip next week.

We usually get along great but then when we do too much or take on too much it does come to boiling point. Anyway, hope you are all faring better!

lula Michael is gorgeous! I love those blond waves!

Poor Gabriel is looking like a Romulan off Star Trek as I had to cut his fringe. DH is teasing me a lot about it.

Wheelybug · 21/06/2009 14:43

Gorgeous photos Lula !!

Exciting news here - we eventually had a bit more sleep ! For some reason L broke her 2 and 5 am pattern and friday night didn't wake until 4.15 . Then went back after 30 mins until 7.45 . Last night was 3 and 6.30 so still better even if not so good. Am soooo hoping it will continue !!

Took DD1 to my nephews birthday party yesterday so had 3 hour off baby duty (I never thought I'd see 2.5 hours in a soft play place as a break !!). Although missed her and found myself gravitating towards the paretns with the 9 week old in tow to talk about sleep...

Hope you're having a nice fathers day - DH got his 2 yorkie bars this morning and we've been for brunch. DH now working and me trying to avoid craft activity with dd1 .

Sorry to those who've had a tiring weekend.

Slickbird · 22/06/2009 10:45

Love the photos Lula He's a wee honey!

Where is everyone?? Don't tell me they're all having a.....LIFE?

Well, not me! Am still here.

I can officially report that "Gettin' Jiggy Wit' it" is back on the agenda at the Slick Household! Hurray! He's going to call about getting the snip this week but I really couldn't wait as, suprisingly, it's me that's been pestering him! So we made do with condoms (forgot how rubbish they are - but not as rubbish as getting pregnant again!). Anyway, was nice to be at it again although I did have a blub half way through over sudden body issues! "I'm all saggy!" I wailed. He was lovely and very reassuring so that was nice. He said, "You get lovelier all the time.." Ah, isn't that sweet. (Not sure I believe him, but good of him to say all the same.)

FB was up only the once again and DD2 seemed to sleep better last night but my God she's suddenly got super-clingy! It's like having a little tree-monkey strapped to me all the time! I think she may be finally jealous of her little brother but I think it's also just a stage. Like you said Meep - Ferocious tantrums (legs rigid, screaming with anger and frustration) followed by lots of lovely cuddles. I was in near tears yesterday watching her have one as I felt so sorry for her as I fed FB and she was just so upset. I mean, she has to get used to it etc etc but the strength of feeling they feel at this stage takes some believing. I think they can freak themselves out sometimes.

Anyway, shouldn't go on, not the thread really for this subject! Hope you've all had a good weekend and that the reason everyone is so quiet is they too, are all gettin' down an' dirty.

Wheelybug · 22/06/2009 11:38

I'm here briefly before the swimming run !

Nothing to report though other than L sleeping for 9.25 hours last night - woo hoo !! Then was up about 20 mins and back for another 2.5.

Glad you're back in the saddle slick. DH is back in the bedroom so we're one step closer .

meep · 22/06/2009 11:50

hi to Madremia lula what a cutie - love all teh hair - wee Rosie still has a no.1 all over !

lol at slick doing the pestering - then crying! Can so understand though.

Rosie is going through an "I will not nap" phase - she used to just conk out wherever she was - but we were at a friends house yesterday and she was awake all afternoon and at times, not very happy about it. But as soon as the car was switched on to go home she was fast asleep.

I have to wake her up from a nap to take dd1 to nursery - she's fine - seems to enjoy watching the world from the sling. But she has just been wailing every time I tried to put her back down for a nap - and I know she is overtired and feel so sorry for her. She's asleep now, but every so often lets out a huge wail then back to sleep. Poor wee mite.

slick are you not finding the whole toddler thing really wears you down. I am either feeling guilty or frustrated with dd1. Took her to the supermarket on Sat morning and she decided to kick me all the way round and wail and throw herself about. I got home, burst into tears on dh. Dd1 was saying "mummy cry?" then ran through to give me a "big hug" and I then felt so guilty for snapping at her. She is also trying to be so independent - I get lots of "mummy go away now."

It's funny I have read and posted on so many threads where the OP feels sad that they have lost their bouncy happy child in place of a rampaging terrible two and how they are trying not to take it personally - and that is exactly what I was feeling at the weekend. Love her to bits but my god, she knows how to push my buttons

OMG I have just won a MN prize - a designer chamging bag! It says it is worth £295 - I think it will be the most expensive bag I have ever owned!

OP posts:
meep · 22/06/2009 11:55

this is it

It looks like a posh leather version of the skip hop chaning bag I used with dd1. I have just been using a big leather handbag these days - but this looks very lovely so may have to convert.

Wheelybug · 22/06/2009 12:00

OOh well done meep ! Does look lovely. The only thing I've ever won on MN is some Mr Bean dvds and I didn't even enter the competition on purpose !! I did send them on to another MN-er who wanted them.

I realised I hadn't said hello to Madremia - so hellO ! and welcome !

jollyjoanne · 22/06/2009 12:01

Lula lovely photos, and another little one with some impressive hair.

Mae had a couple of slightly rubbish nights sleep over the weekend. But she slept through again last night so I think it may have been a bit of a growth spurt.

Glad that people are starting to feel a bit more like themselves and are getting back in the saddle.

Fathers Day went OK but DH had a horrible hangover so it was a pretty quiet day.

pintofstella · 22/06/2009 12:03

Hello girls, haven't been on here for weeks and have about 15 pages to catch up on!

Hope all your babies are being good.

Back to page 32 of the old thread for me to see what you've all been up to!

laumiere · 22/06/2009 12:20

Oh god DS1 has been a nightmare today so yes, toddler hell here too!

On the plus side though he managed a poo in the toilet yesterday, so kudos to him. We also had another wee milestone last night, put the boys to sleep in the same room for the first time. I waited til they both settled then quietly moved Gabe through.

Result of 6 blissful hours of unbroken sleep for me! Very happy now, and hopefully more jiggy at Chez Laumiere since we won't have the product of said jiggy needing to sleep in the same room!

and welcome madremia

grinningbee · 22/06/2009 12:33

I'm here, and certainly no jigginess going on. Stopped bleeding for 5 days (hurrah!) told dh his luck might be in, and then it started again

Two nights ago Amy actually slept in her moses basket for the first time, and not on mummy. Big Hurrah!!

It only lasted the one night. Boo.

We're off to the monthly child clinic thing in a bit. Never been to one before so have no idea what to expect (if anyone can enlighten me?) but it's been 5 weeks since she was weighed and I want to make sure she's still doing alright.

Poor sausage seems to have a cold as she's coughing and sneezing for the last few days and sounds rather rattly. At what point do you go to the dr if the cough/rattling doesn't go? There has been a bit of a temp too.

I've taken to calling her snuffulupagus (or however you spell it!!).

laweaselmys · 22/06/2009 17:34

Hi all!

Nothing to add re potty training, except to definately take multiple extra pants and trousers anytime you are going anywhere exciting!

re: piles, basically as soon as I decided to go to the doctor's they went away. So huzzah for sex and hopefully the evil bleeders won't come back again.

We have stayed with DPs parents for a few days a couple of times but this weekend Mols is staying with DPs mum on her own while we are at a wedding. I have been expressing like a madwoman, and can't decide whether I'm looking forward to it or don't want to go.

Wheelybug · 22/06/2009 17:54

OOH OOH exciting - Lara just rolled over completely, all by herself. Things may never be the same again !!

grinning - if you're worried about the cough take her to the docs. Best to get it checked out if you're worried. Hope she's ok.

Good luck with your night away - try and have a good time although am sure you'll miss her (but enjoy the lie in ).

laumiere · 22/06/2009 18:44

Thanks guys, have put in my two-pence there! The advice given isn't wrong, but I guarantee I can come up with something better even if the poster was doing all of that. Not least since most CVs are electronic now!

Slickbird · 22/06/2009 20:49

Yaayyyyy Meep! congrats on the bag! What comp did you enter? That bag would be too posh for the likes of me as it would only show the rest of me up!

Know what you mean about the tiresome toddler, although she's not at the fiercely independent phase at the moment, quite the opposite. She had another belter tonight because I had to dry her hair and she screamed and screamed and then was standing there shaking with rage and fury, eyes all red. I just felt so bad for her, I just kept stroking her head and trying to get her to calm down. Eventually she took a dummy and gave me a sleepy hug. Wee scone. But yes, it is sad to see the happy bouncing, funny toddler change into something demonic. I always liken the toddler phase to the teenage phase, seem totally hormonal, irrantional, it's all about them and everything seems like the end of the world!

Anyhoo, FB, now called HB (Happy Boab - Carla at the tea table the other night, kept saying it, v. cute) spent most of the shopping trip shouting at anyone who'd listen as he was teething really hard. Not crying, just shouting. He remedied that when we got home by immediately throwing up all over the kitchen. I hope he gets a tooth soon for all this effort but none are looming.

Laumiere Great news on DD1 and I wish I could bring myself to put HB through with DD2, but I just think at the moment one or the other will wake each other up, so leaving it for a bit yet.

And - what a bloomin' cheek that person trying to steal your thunder! Maybe her intentions are good, ie free advice, but still, it's a bit bloody cheeky! But then I'm biased!

Nice to see you back pint I was wondering where everyone was this morning!

Slickbird · 22/06/2009 21:18

Sorry, sorry! Jumped the gun there. Laumiere I thought she had writtent that info on YOUR page but it's not, so I'll er...shut up.

laweaselmys · 22/06/2009 23:16

Oh, grinning I forgot to say, have you spoken to your GP about this bleeding? The way my MW talked about it, it seemed like 6 weeks would be quite late to still be going...

I think I stopped by &#6 5345;bout 8 week&#65363 ; and then ha&#6 5348; piles so d&#65353 ;fferent blee&#6 5348;ing...

meep · 23/06/2009 09:12

slick it was just one of the MN competitions that come up on the homepage. I was actually going for a slide for the back garden for dd1 - but a swanky change bag is almost as good! Isn't it sad that I'd rather have something for my children than for myself !

Wow to L rolling over - I have told Rosie that she is to be like her big sis and NEVER roll - much easier IMO

Not sure if there are teeth coming in here - lots of fist chewing - but she does that when she is tired too.

Poor wee Amy - hope the snot retreats soon.

slick we can compare notes about having a toddler and a baby sharing a room - we'll be doing that too. But I'll be keeping Rosie in with me till she's 6mo - luckily the cot will fit in our room so we're able to do it. I think we will have to scrap the moses basket soon - when she thrashes about she wakes herself up as her sarms hit the sides - I think she needs more wriggle space!

law what happened to your post?
