H everyone! Sorry I've been a bit rubbish keeping in touch, hope you're all doing ok?

Merry got her first tooth through last week, she's still being a miserable sod though. We lied to the pharmacist and bought some Medised which seems to have knocked her out calmed her down a bit, but we're thinking of getting her an amber teething necklace. Loads of people on here seem to say that it helped their baby but no-one can explain why, it's all crazy hippy shit like "ethereal oils seeping into the baby's skin"! Has anyone on here found one useful?

Hope you're all well, I'm now off to try and wrestle Z into bed!

vinorouge · 09/08/2009 07:33

Hi UD - never heard of the teething necklace sorry. Hope M settles down anyway. How is Z getting on with her?

Wilkie -pmsl at your tip!!!!! Is L any better with stretched out feeds?

E&H - congrats on all your sales and on taking e&h swimming - impressed

Shimmer - nice to hear from you. Good hol? Glad scan ok. Is F excited about having a brother or sister? My friend is pg and E loves sitting with her hands on her tummy to feel the baby move, except then E goes round saying she has a baby in her tummy!

Rgee - hope b is ok now. A few people have said they have had same prob with pramettes so I might email M&P!

TAFKAtheUrbanDryad · 09/08/2009 14:10

Vino - he gets on very well with her. He's very protective, he gets very cross if any of his little friends try and hit her ("NO! Don't hit my sister!" ) but he sometimes gets very cross if she gets breastmilk before him! I'm really struggling feeding him at the moment, his latch has got really shoddy again and we're having to really concentrate on it. He's managed to shred my left nipple so i can only feed Merry from that side as it's too painful to feed him from that side - which is a PITA as that's the side his bed is on, whereas Merry's is on the right IYSWIM.

They're very sweet when they nurse together though, Z will try and stroke Merry's hair and she'll poke him in the eye - but in an affectionate way, I think!

laughalot · 10/08/2009 11:14

^^^^ Yawn ^^^^^ child number 2 has swine flu and spends most of the night awake. Will catch up when I dont have a clingy poor little girl holding me all day.

vinorouge · 11/08/2009 13:17

oh dear LAL sorry hear L has swine flu. Hope she gets better soon.

Quiet here at the moment isn't it? Hope everyone is ok and enjoying the sunshine.

E has started being really chatty when we put her to bed. She lies quite happily in bed but chats on and on when we try to close the door. Then she sings to herself in bed. Last night she was singing and S was in her cot making baby type grunts so it was quite vocal!

Got a friend coming for dinenr tonight which will be nice.

Had a meeting about redundnacy at work today but still not too sure of what the timescales are. Hey ho.

Reggiee · 11/08/2009 18:43

Hiya Vino. Yup - it is quiet on here so thought I'd stay away for a few days to stop me talking to myself . Sorry to hear about redundancy talks. Have you heard anymore about the job you want? And how is your dh's job? Heard things aren't so pleasant there atm.
Loving E chatting herself to sleep. P has got to the stage where she is startng to try various tricks to stay up longer e.g. I want a drink of water/another cuddle/kiss/story/say night night to bear and other bear and moo cow and meerkat and etc etc.

Lal hope L is ok. How is A now? Any sign of you being poorly or are you ok?

Hi UD - long time no hear. Hope all is well. How are things with dh atm?

EaH what are you doing for E's party? Can't believe how quickly this last year has gone and her birthday is almost here again! How ar you surviving the hols?

PCF well done to M on the potty. Still not tried P so double nappies here. Have you got the school uniform yet? They'll soon be moved to make way for all the Xmas stuff

Shimmer great news that all is well with the scan. I soooo want to know what you have .

Wilkie looking forward to catching up on Thurs and finally meeting L. Hope he is eating better for you. B eats every 3 hours and would so like him to be every 4.

Have just about got over B's visit to hospital. His bruise has faded and didn't get any worse so I think the hood broke his fall much more than I thought. This last three days he has done at least one poo a day and they've been yellow .

eandh · 11/08/2009 20:52

Will post properly tomorrow as I am so tired (bloody school holidays are killing me) Am having a party at village hall (only 39 kids eeek) but Marli the magician will do alot of the work and have bought animal themed cardboard food boxes so I can make a lunch for each child at home in the monring (1/4 of ham and 1/4 cheese sandwich/bag of crisps/sausage roll/carrot/cucumber sticks/mini chocolate roll and carton of juice) am having it on sat 5th sept so we can have a relaxing day sunday as her birthday is monday 7th but thats also hger 1st day of big school so a exciting day!!

Rgee- glad B ok

Vino- hope everything goes the way you want it to at work

Lal - spoken to you about 5 times today so nothing to say

Wilkie - did you list that stuff?

Ummm now cant remember who has posted and am heading to bed zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Lizzzombie · 12/08/2009 07:22

EAH - Holy Moly! 39 kids! Best of luck today & even though you don't drink, have a large one at the end of the day!
VINO - Fingers crossed about your meeting.
UD - Do you mean the Amber Teething necklaces? I think its the 'healing property' of the stone which helps doesn't it?
SHIMMER - Bummer they couldn't tell the sex of the baby!
PCF - Hope the summer holidays are going ok. I thought of you as I drove through Worthing last week!

OK - SOUTHERN MEET UP...

When? Where? Who is up for it?!
I know we mentioned Monkey Business in Lewes, sometime in September. Is that still good for everyone?

OP posts:
eandh · 12/08/2009 15:57

Lizz party not for a few weeks yet but I id go to preschool meet up today which was fun but hetic!

I got the location wrong for dh triathlon its uckfield is that near you?? If so its on Sunday 27th September (if not I can drive your way on a different date )

Reggiee · 12/08/2009 17:45

EaH there's a triathalon on that date in our local park. You sure it's not up north

Wilkie if you're lurking I have emailed you. Hope you're still up for tomorrow morning. Could do with the company.

eandh · 12/08/2009 18:34

Would be nice if it was up north as could visit you/Vin/Wilkie and stop at Laughalots on the way home (although may just brave driving the 4 hours to her house over October half term with the kids on my own!!!)

laughalot · 12/08/2009 20:19

Oooh yes come and stay

Lizzzombie · 13/08/2009 13:59

I AM SOOOOOOOOO HOT!
Its gross, all sticky and sweaty here, I just want it to rain to clear the air.

Have swapped over DJ's car seat at Halfords today, for Britax Evolva 123. I am not convinced by it, it doesn't seem to look so sturdy in situ if that makes sense. It totally relies on the seatbelt locking at the top to stop is coming forward and I'm a bit about it. Also, it can only be fitted sitting upright and not reclined due to stupid buckle crunch problem. BUT it will last him until he is 12. (!)
I just don't know if I should have gone for it. Does anyone else have it?
This one.

OP posts:
Reggiee · 14/08/2009 19:27

Lizz is DJ comfy in the car seat? Do you often travel long distances? It looks nice and will last, but if you travel a lot in the car and DJ sleeps, then it perhaps might be more suited to an older child.

Still quiet here.

Saw our very own Wilkie yesterday and her lovely boys . L was adorable and amusinginly a similar size to B (and B is no small chap). J is soooooooooo cute. Had a lovely morning - cheers Wilkie.
It took me back to the first time I met Wilkie and Vino with our lo's, and thinking about how much they have changed and are proper little people, and how we all used to chat so much then .

vinorouge · 15/08/2009 19:23

Lizz we have a britax evolva 123 and e is quite happy in it, has no probs sleeping, although can undo the straps.

Knackered. 4am start cos of e waking and refusing to sleep again. Work. Kids party and 2 glasses of wine. Vino has tired eys, heavy legs and hungry tummy. Just scoffed fish pie and veg. Going to retire to bed with my book after coffee and an ice cream.

Busy day tom too but am gonna get to see rgee for a quick coffee so hope to manage a cuddle with b.

eandh · 15/08/2009 21:00

vin & rgee hope you have a nice catch up!

We are childfree as both had to work today and I had to stay late as branch is closed for refit for next 9 days (I have been in my element clearing 16 years worth of crap stuff) so mum and dad offered to have girls till tea time but then changed to overnight as I am doing a bootfair in the morning and dh out so they are taking them to the beach and to visit my nan/their great Nan so we had a lovely quiet meal (at the table with candles!!) also had a few white wine sprizers although dh has been asleep on sofa since 8.30 so I am heading to bed soon (got a 5.30am start!!)

eandh · 15/08/2009 21:01

oh meant to say Lizz Eddas has that car seat for her ds (he was a april 07 baby) and he gets on fine with it

laughalot · 16/08/2009 20:31

Hello !!!

Finally our house is swine flu free . I have had a quiet day today as my dad and wayne took aidan to the races which was nice, so me mum and lauren chilled out.

Im looking forward to next weekend as my parents are having the kids and we are flying to glasgow to see my brother, that will mean lots of nice food and drinks .Then on the tuesday we are taking the kids to yarmouth for 4 days.

Eah glad the carboot went well and the girls liked there bits.

Lizz hope dj is now better in his new seat like the pics on fb.

Rgee glad you had a good catch up with wilkie and chuffed to hear b is better after his accident

Vino that is a early start by e kids who have them. Was your dh pleased with the everton result yesterday ? There was alot of strong words in our house .

Wilkie are you going on the monday night to michael macintyre ? I booked tickets the other day for the mon night. It is a treat for our wedding anniversary even though that is on tuesday.

Shimmer how naughty of baby to be covering his/her bits I reckon its a man they are usually a pain .

Pcf hows t ? Are you surviving the school hols im getting ready now for a going back.

Right sorry if iv missed anyone laters xx

Wilkiepedia · 16/08/2009 22:00

LAL - glad you are swine flu free. Yes we are going to Sheffield on Mon 19th Oct. I cannot wait!!!!!!!

I am so sorry - so many people have posted since I last came on I'm not sure I can remember everything but I have been lurking. Have major attack of post-pregnancy brain and am finding my memory so shite so excuse non-returned texts, emails and facebook messages...!

It was lovely seeing Reggie and gorgeous little B the other day. J was most insistent that Reg paid him attention . L is just huge, on 91st centile for height and 75th for weight. Gonna be a big boy - weird cos J has always been a petite little thing.

Lizz - interesting re carseat. We are actually going to get a carseat more like the one you linked to from ToysrUs for £25. I am sick of trying to lift J into his Britax Renaissance - the Audi's roof is quite low and I always whack his head

EAH - DH made me laugh about your phone call. He thought I meant my other friend Michelle so I think he confused your DH (DH seeing if he can get junior golf shoes for EAH's friend)

Not much to report, weight loss going well. Lost another 2lb so have 11lb to go. Hair nightmare - not sure whether to stay brunette or go blonde so have fetching blonde rootage at the mo . Have a friend's wedding on 18th Sept so need to decide before then!

Dilemma re contraception. DH and I want him to have a vasectomy BUT it is so final. We defo don't want anymore children BUT if, god forbid, anything horrible happened (I can't even bring myself to say what I mean) then I wouldn't want to just have one child. Don't know WHAT to do. Coil is only option but how safe is it??

Lizzzombie · 17/08/2009 11:29

Hello everyone!

Good to see people on here lots.
We've had the air show on here for the past 4 days, and I am SO PLEASED its over. My head was splitting after 4 days of flybys from various fighter jets! And so many people in town. Ahh its all quiet again. Apart from DJ laughing himself stupid at the Tomliboos. Apparently they are hilarious.

I am being so slow this morning.
Would kill for 12 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
A mate of DP's recently paid for his girlfriend to spend 2 nights in a spa with treatments etc, as she has an 18 month DS who doesn't sleep well, and a 4 month DD.
My DP pointed out that I am always going to spa...to buy milk & chocolate. Nice.
DJ has started waking up every night about midnight. Sometimes for and hour or two, and sometimes for 10 mins. Either way, I now look like sh!t and am thoroughly over it. Sorry...moany me.

Anyway.

Glad you made a good profit at the carboot EAH.
Go back to your natural colour Wilkie - Its so much easier not to have to deal with roots!
Have fun in Glasgow LAL.

I'm officially jealous of everyone at the moment. My sister has palmed her twins off on our Mum for 6 nights. Its not fair.

OP posts:
Lizzzombie · 17/08/2009 11:31

btw - EAH.

Sunday 27th of September could be a good date to meet at Monkey Bizness in Lewes.
Its not too far from Uckfield.

Shimmer/PCF/LTH/UD can you make it? x

OP posts:
vinorouge · 17/08/2009 12:22

hi lizz! I am jealous of people being off at the moment too.

Had a nice cuppa with rgee yesterday and can vouch that b doesn't like being put down for a nap in the day and is very vocal about it.He is a cutie though and P is just a mini rgee which is also v cute.

DH and I busy planning our trip to india which is gonna be booked tonight or tomorrow.

Had a bit of a shopping spree at bookpeople and red house websites yest ready for xmas presents and birthday presents to have in stock. I felt organised! (but prob not as org as you e&H)

busy day at work and got a job to apply for tonight

Wilkiepedia · 17/08/2009 14:08
Lizzzombie · 17/08/2009 16:02

INDIA?!?!? WOW!!!
When, where, how long? etc etc!
I'd love to go there, am soooooooooooo x 1000000!

Closest I'm ever going to get is the curry house. DP is totally not interested. I think I may have to start saving for my 'trip of a lifetime' when I turn 50 or something! (40 is too close!)
