Haey Ceebs that is rough about ur work, I met an ex-colleague of mine a couple of weeks ago and she was planning to resign due to the extra workload so I know that it is not a rosy situ whichever side of the fence you are on... Hope it all works out ok for you tho, extra travel is a bugger.

Haha there are days where I don't feel I manage very well at all and poor Ds1 gets it in the neck a bit . But I am trying not to take my tiredness out on him it just means that we don't go far very often so the good weather has been a god send - I can manage the garden!

But yes he has a place at the local primary's pre-school from end of August so that will be good and we can walk there so another bonus. However 2.5 hours will seem very short! When does ur DS1 start school then? Mine won't start til Aug 2011 but I know Scotland has different cut of dates.

Ah were u at Centerparcs ChocGal? We were there in May, I love that place! Have you tried Crieff Hydro? Apparently it is great for kids..

juanitad · 12/06/2009 15:15

Hi all,

Just a quick hello, computer charger is dead, having to use work laptop which is rubbish cos I've been away from work for ages so it's not had all the updates it's meant to have. Plus, I can't get onto facebook so no scrabble for me till the new charger arrives. I feel lost without scrabble!!

Nice day here, am catching a few rays in the garden while P sleeps. Talking of which, I am with you sparkle and chocgal in the early morning club. P seems to have regressed - again. He got better when he moved into his own room, but back to waking 4 times a night now. I am starting to panic a little bit about going back to work in Sep, as I think it's highly likely he still won't be sleeping through then. Don't know how I will function at work on the amount of sleep I'm getting now!

Anyway, not sure when I'll be back on, all depends on computer!

Hi everyone

Yeh ceebee the Penrith one, only 3 hours away so not too bad. We just priced again for august but £900 so I think not.
Lots of people I know have been to crieff hydro sparke but I though it was more of a romantic getaway than for kids, will have to have a look.
We are looking to go somewhere for a few days in august with the inlaws.

Welcome to the no sleep club juanitad!

sparkletoes · 12/06/2009 20:12

Haey ChocGal a few of my friends have also been to Crieff - you get 6 hours childcare included a day which sounds good to me (but only over 2s I think...). We priced it for our anniversary but like CP was well out of our price range at that time (July). Ho hum.

How many more for the 5am club (and earlier)...?!! No doubt I'll be on here again (around then) tomorrow.

LackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2009 20:38

evening all....I'm a fishing widow again

I had visions of sitting out on the patio with a glass of wine and some nice chat, get a bit relaxed and who knows where it might lead.....but NOOOOOO Mr D's idea of a good Friday night is sitting next to a muddy, midge infested puddle and then coming home smelling of Deet, cigar smoke and various fish baits .....nice!

Ceebee74 · 12/06/2009 20:44

Daisy lol at your DH - men are strange aren't they? Maybe Mr D is a bit worried that 'who knows where it may lead' might be to baby no 4 I will head over to Scrabble asap as you obviously have the evening to yourself

Sparks DS1 starts school in Sept 2010 when he will be all of 4 years and 6 weeks - so so young He gets his vouchers this Sept but we are just using them to pay for some of his nursery fees (they have a pre-school room which is set up more like a classroom to get them ready).

Juanitad bummer about the charger - I love our Scrabble games!!

Any thoughts on when we can give the babies raisins? Is there any reason why it can't be now?? Not sure what age I started with DS1 but the Hamster's manual dexterity is excellent so I think he might be able to pick them up tbh.

LackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2009 20:59

erm....DD was sibling led weaning bumble with raisins at 22 weeks .

He loves them but he only gets one or two and I break them open before I give them.

In true BLW fashion though, I think that when they have developed the pincer grip then they are capable of feeding themselves things that need to be picked up in a pincer grip without choking to death!

The child eats for a small country though. He had a bowl of pasta and half a baby organix pot tonight for tea, then fruit salad and double cream.....then cried because I wouldn't share my dinner! Thinking of renaming him gut-bucket!

LackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2009 21:00

ah and he probalby is worried about that ceebee as he hasn't had the "all-clear" yet after his op!

It's been soooo long though that I can't remember what to do!!!

Rosa · 12/06/2009 21:32

Quickie and I hope to log in from the beach ...We are just about all set I can't cram anything else in and more to the point we can't carry any more as it is who pushes the bee has to pull a case ( massive). I still have bunnies/ teddies, grobag wash things to go in as well eeek.
Bye for now - I am only travelling an hour away but it is almost another continent as far as the city is concerned !!!

tegan · 13/06/2009 08:43

Morning all

O has been porrly for 3 days now and lack of sleep is killing me. He has a horrible cough, runny, green nose and is really clingy. I think it could be his teeth, seeing as he doesn't have any yet and the dribbling is rediculous, it's like a river flowing from his mouth constantly.

And typically i am meant to be going on a hen night tonight, which would be my first night out in over 5 years. I really don't want to leave my poorly boy but i also don't want to let my friend down either.

Oblomov · 13/06/2009 09:48

Daisy, Cricri, Monkey and all other BLW'ers, how are you litle ones doing with their hand to mouth co-ordination and that pince grip ? When is the pincer grip supposed to kick in Daisy ?
Becuase M's hand to moth co-ordination is still quite poor. He manages, but its not great. He holds grapes in the middle of his fist and then puts the fingers of his fist to his mouth. Then he can't work out why he's not enjoying the fruits of his labour !!

chocolategal · 13/06/2009 10:40

Morning everyone

Hope you enjoy your trip rosa obs my DS grips food but doesn't associate it with eating, he thinks it's a toy and just waves it around.
tegan hope O is better soon, maybe you could just go to the hen night for a little while if your worried about leaving him, although I'd say you deserve a night out in 5 years!

Hope everyone has nice weekends planned, a lazy day here

tegan · 13/06/2009 11:11

choc The hens are meetinf at 4 to have a meal then got a minibus at 7 to go to the beer keller in bristol (about 70 miles from home), so i have said to dh to call me at 6.30 and (if o is being a pain or i want to come home)say that O needs me, or if i am having fun and o is ok i can say i will go on the bus for the rest of the night out.

You should always have a plan !!!

sparkletoes · 13/06/2009 16:08

Haey All!

We having pretty lazy day here, went to village fete at lunchtime and having a barb-e tonight, so glad the forecast was wrong for today!!

Gosh Ceebs that is young to be starting school right enough, I was 4.5 years when I started and that was deemed pretty young at the time. At least it saves you on childcare tho! My Ds1 would have been using his vouchers for nursery but as I was made redundant and cannot find alternative work at moment, just going to put him into the local school nursery every am instead. A lot of his friends from baby&toddler group are going so I am sure he will love it. (famous last words)

Tiny has already been sibling-led fed a raisin, no harm done but I will be watching very closely from now on! I suppose I should be glad DS1 is so happy to share with his bro!

I did get my early night last night and my lovely DH took pity on me and got up with Tiny when he woke (again at 12am and 5am). I therefore got a decent nights sleep for first time in gawd knows how long .

But will be back to grindstone for me tonight... If anyone is around for early am scrabble I'll be on fb!!

Hope everyone enjoying their Saturday..

chocolategal · 13/06/2009 20:25

Evening everyone
Its quiet on here today, everyone must be off enjoying the weekend.
Had a nice lazy day here, just had a chinese for tea

Ive started looking at lightweight buggies, really just to use for short runs and in and out my car, like the zapp but would like one that reclines a bit. Does anyone have the petite star zia?? if so any good??

ChocOrange05 · 13/06/2009 21:10

Chocgal I just bought the Baby Jogger City Mini and after 4 days use I think its fab. Very lightweight, folds super easy and reclines flat. It is more expensive than some others but I have decided to sell my Quinny and just use this one all the time as its so good.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/06/2009 21:29

evening

Obs, bumble is still a bit hit and miss (literally ) with his hand to mouth. He normally manages to get things to his mouth, but quite often by way of his nose! If he is holding something long like a chip or carrot batonb, he eats it down to his fist and then gets really cross as he can still feel it in his hand, but he can't get at it. He managed to pincer pick up a kidney bean and get it in his mouth the other day, but I think it was a fluke.

He loves trying though and I help him along by popping in bits of food between his own efforts.

got some new specs today and had my hair done as well.....so should be feeling like a new woman, but disappointed to note that I'm still the same frumpy old me

And I think my DH might be having some sort of nervous breakdown

Ceebee74 · 13/06/2009 21:33

Daisy what's wrong with DH ?? I bet you look lovely - not frumpy at all

Obs the Hamster actually has excellent food-to-mouth co-ordination (makes up for his lack of rolling and sitting I guess ) Once he has some food in his hand, it always goes straight to his mouth and he rarely lets go of it until it has all gone and seems to be able to get the bits in his fist aswell. Not tried him with anything small yet though so no idea about his pincer grip.

Tegan hope you managed to get out tonight and stay out After 5 years, I think you deserve it!! O will be fine!!

Had a lovely day today - we went to the beach and DS1 played happily in the sand/sea for 3 hours whilst the Hamster fed/slept - it was the perfect family day So much so that it made both me and DH really really want a holiday abroad this year - not sure how we are going to afford it but we need one

chocolategal · 13/06/2009 21:44

Thanks choco i have been looking at the BJCM online, will have to go play with one in the shop! Does it fold quite small?

Your DH ok daisy?

sounds like a lovely day ceebee , we have just booked to go back to CP in Nov for E's birthday. I must be mad we turned down the offer of a villa in Portugal paid for by FIL as i felt it would be too much hassle!!!
I know theres lots of you been/going abroad with your LO's but for me i think we'll wait till next year. We got one of the fancy lodges with sauna at CP, will bloody well need it in November!!

Ceebee74 · 13/06/2009 21:48

Chocgal we have been scared of going abroad (we used to go every year without fail pre-DC) with DS1 since he was born 3 years ago but he had such a good time at the beach today and actually behaved himself, that we both felt we should just do it and cope rather than keep putting it off until DS1 is 'older/better behaved' - loads of people do it so it can't be that hard surely???

chocolategal · 13/06/2009 21:56

Yep ceebee i think there will never be an 'ideal' time to venture abroad with LO's but DH stresses easily and for me it would have not been enjoyable!
I think you would just adapt and change your routine to suit. I saw some good deals for September if you can go then....

Ceebee74 · 13/06/2009 22:03

I think it will be totally stressful for us as I won't be able to relax for one second - particularly with DS1's habit of running away but at least I will get a tan whilst not being able to relax

It would be early September now (no way am I going in the school holidays) - I am due back at work about the 14th so it would need to be before then. Have just been surfing and found one hotel where 2 weeks all inclusive costs £100 (in total for the 4 of us) more than just 1 week - that can't be right surely????

LackaDAISYcal · 13/06/2009 22:21

DH is just a bit stressed out about things here; house always a mess, DS1 being a handful, money etc etc etc.....he is usually very calm and collected but seems very anxious when dealing with the DC and they are picking up on it. He also seems to be getting in a state about things that shouldn't bother him.....earlier today I'd brought some sushi in for my lunch and DD was trying to get into the box which was sitting on the sofa, and he was getting really cross with her...lots of little things like that.

It's not on......I'm the stressed and anxious one in this relationship...he is the calm stable one

He'll be fine....I think he might need some stress busting tonight

ChocOrange05 · 13/06/2009 22:28

chocgal it folds quite small - basically it folds in half so its kind of like a bag when you hold it, the wheels are quite chunky but you can easily take them off. I would recommend testing it first - also make sure you take E to sit in it too as its so light without them you kind of feel like its going to fall over. I think its about 17lb which is about the same weight as M!

obs my M knows exactly where his mouth is . Anything and everything goes straight for it - food, fingers (his or anyone elses), teddies, chins, ends of noses (no joke!) and on and on. He hasn't figured out how to get food out of his fist yet but he is showing signs that his pincer grip is developing.

We went to a crazy golf course near us today which was so much fun - it had a river and waterfall and lots of giant dinosaurs that roared and moved their heads. DH and I took turns while the other held M.

chocolategal · 13/06/2009 22:37

thanks choco, will definately go look at that.
Stress busting sounds fun daisy ;) hopefully he returns to mr calm soon, all that fishing should do it!
That seems like an awfully good deal ceebee, it that is right I'd book it tonight!

Off to bed, DH turn for the nightshift so looking forward to a good sleep although I still waken up when DS does I don't actually have to get out of bed.

Wishing everyone sleepy nights
