thank you all for your finger food ideas hopefully my brain will get out of the carrot rut it is in. Night night all

ronshar · 10/06/2009 22:54

Of course. Is it the same as the film How to get ahead in advertisment. Sorry bad taste.

When it comes to the NHS, bear this in mind. Who ever shouts loudest gets treated quicker.
Go to your GP every week. Exaggerate your pain, discomfort. Phone the secretary of the consultant at the hospital. Act a bit dumb, pretend that you thought you needed to phone her to get appointment etc. I did that a few years ago and got my sinus op within 3 weeks. I had previously waited 6 months. Wanted to get rid of me I reckon.

Marthasmama · 10/06/2009 22:56

Sounds like a plan Ronshar. I am normally such a good quiet little patient. Hard to believe I know!

ronshar · 10/06/2009 23:18

I shall be here tomorrow to make sure you have phoned. Ok.

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/06/2009 08:48

Ds now pulling to standing (but not always successfully) - just took dd to point out that he was standing up playing with stuff on a chair! Dh will be moving the cot base down a level this morning (he was meant to do it yesterday but forgot)!

Only one night wake for a big feed , plus the couple of cuddles that he needed during the evening.

CSWS - That is good news! I have been quiet about sleep issues as M has been much better over the last week. We let left her to settle herself on Saturday and although it took an hour, she only cried for about 10 mins in total. After that she seemed to get the idea and although she has woken a couple of times every night for a feed, she has gone back to bed without a fuss! Last night she forgot about self settling but after another hour with very little crying, she went off to sleep and slept for 6.5 hours! I think it's going to be a while before we can drop the night feeds though. It seems that day time naps have gone haywire now though!

aubergenie · 11/06/2009 10:34

Well ds is definitely not himself. He's only just woken up for the day.

MM - that you're feeling so down about yourself. You may not get treatment for an eating disorder at the moment but, if you've got an understanding gp, you may be able to be referred for some sort of counselling. Do they offer any sort of counselling as part of the treatment for the cyst? (I only ask because my friend is getting fertility counselling, but obviously her situation is very different from yours.) If so, it could be a way in. You are obviously aware of the risk of passing any of your anxieties on to your dd and that must be a horrible worry too. Much easier said than done, but can you try to move the focus away from losing weight at the moment and more onto getting yourself as healthy as possible for the operation?

Great sleep news CSWS!

aubergenie · 11/06/2009 10:51

Interesting little piece on Women's Hour this morning on Dr Grantly Dick-Read and natural childbirth here.

Marthasmama · 11/06/2009 11:12

Awww poor S. Did that mean that you got a good night's sleep though Aubergenie? I am very much focused on getting healthy rather than being thin these days. I need to exercise more but exercise increases the risk of the cyst twisting, as does having sex.

jenwa · 11/06/2009 11:17

Oh god, has taken me ages to read this!!!

loulou haha, sorry, DD1 currently has a box of disney princess shoes FIL got her and she cant walk in those heels but she would love stillettos I am sure of it!

re car seats, DD1 was getting really dangerous in hers and we wanted to get her out of it as she would push the whole seat up by extending her liegs but Mothercare were really strict and did not want to sell us one but ended up purchasing it as we told them she was actually far too dangerous in the other and pushed the seat right up so surely she would be safer other way round, they did sell it in the end!

hedgepig DD loves marmite on toast or cheeses and garlic spread on bread along with the other bits of finger food suggested. Also those organix crisps things are great. HV said anything including rasions and peeled grapes and she loves them.
I do also let her have bits of my dinner and she loves broccoli and anything she can get in her hand basically!

star Yes off course there is the cleaning issue iinvolved with DD but she is pretty well trained in that area already as you can imagine even likes to help hoover and gets cross when her room is messy
Hope all is ok with DH Have not ventured on FB group so will have alook on there to see if you have posted. men are arses at times.

HMM Yeh for not being at work til Jan but aI am as I go back in 4 weeks

mm ahhhh, dont feel like that, that is sooo sad. I know what you mean and I think you are not the only one, our bodies change sooo much after children and unfortuantly you have the cyst that has not helped you but you know somehting will be done about that so maybe once that has been sorted you will be able to get some confidence back? You are lovely and beautiful and have 2 lovely DC and a DH who love you to bits. It just takes time to sort and you have had weight issies int he past so I can see that you know where you have been and what you liked although I bet people say you look better now then when you were skinny??? Glad M is sleeping better though and hopefully the naps will start in the day again, prob when she wears herself out when she crawls everywhere. You will prob find her asleep in the corner

csws yeh but ahhh for D pulling up, its scary how quickly they are growing. We need to lower cot too as P starting to try pull herself up from lying.

Off to Cosford air show on sunday and getting excited. Really want nice weather but I bet it pees it down!

jenwa · 11/06/2009 11:18

Excuse spelling, once again typing too quickly before p wakes up and L prit sticks her self to the table

aubergenie · 11/06/2009 11:47

He didn't sleep too badly MM. Woke a couple of times then I brought him in with me at about 3.30, and he slept really well in the bed, just waking for few feeds. So all in all not a bad night. He's not really eating much, but did manage some toast and blueberries for breakfast.

That exercise thing must be so annoying. I really feel for you at the moment.

Star - I meant to say before that I'd be really interested in talking to you about your international school experience if we ever get to meet. I've been thinking of doing something similar.

Marthasmama · 11/06/2009 13:40

Just a flying visit..... M is eating her lunch, (sweet potato and potato mash, with broccoli and asparagus) and I had to undo the button on her trousers to accommodate her belly.

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/06/2009 13:52

Who has asked to join fb this morning please?

loulou33 · 11/06/2009 15:39

?? Dr Grantly Dick-Read!! Surely not his/her real name!!

Joe slept 11 hours straight last night despite no bedtime feed.

Sadly DS1 woke me about 8 times to ask me when it was time to get up...he is absolutely covered in spots (even on one his eyelid) - calamine cream and lotion making very little difference tbh. Piriton mildly helpful but makes him very tired and grumpy....any suggestions to make the itching better - did someone say bicarb in the bath? How much? Or anything else??

Btw my mum told me last night that i had cp when i was about 8 year old (i vagule remenber it) and i was really ill with it. Apparently i even got spots in th fanjo ouch

Marthasmama · 11/06/2009 15:47

I got them there too Loulou! My brother got loads on his balls! Ha ha ha ha! DS got Chicken Pox when he was 18 months and had hardly any spots, luckily it didn't seem to bother him that much. I hope you find something that helps, as I said ds, wasn't too bothered.

jenwa · 11/06/2009 16:39

csws it was Bethoo, I have added her now. You may know that by now though.

jenwa · 11/06/2009 16:44

loulou ah, poor ds. DD1 had it last year and she was covered ffrom head to toe as she had caught it from her cousins so had got double the dose, apparantly siblings catch it worse as they are in the company of the other child longer than the child who caught it from school, nursery etc and both dds cousins had it and she had spent 2 days with them! She made us put calamine on her spots with a cotton bud as DH did itfor her once whilst I went to shops and got cotton wool and then it was a novely for her took bloody ages, each individual one!
Only gave boots own piriton stuff but had heard about putting porridge oats in bath? Too much mess for my bath and luckily she was not complaining too much. Just put her in a very loose shirt and pants.

loulou33 · 11/06/2009 17:45

MM - either you are one cruel woman or you and your brother do not get on!!! DS1 is still wearing his pyjamas as he can't bear anything too fitted on him. Have bought some herbal cream that is supposed to be good and so far ds 1 is not scratching - have pormised him Ben10 watch if he holds out til they have gone - bless.....
Jenwa - that means Joe will have it really badly as he spends ALL his time with DS1 - great...
Joe has had very little milk again today, small feed this am, nothing at nursery this pm so that's over 24 hours since he had a decent amount of milk - solids are fine as usual. I didn't give in to him and give him more solids at tea time so he will be hungry for milk later hopefully...god they don't ahlf make you worry, its one thing after another in this house and i am NOWHERE near ready to go back to work. I have no idea if my work stuff will even fit me and i have no way of getting to the shops if they don't...oh joy

Marthasmama · 11/06/2009 18:19

Loulou - I get on very well with my brother so I must be very cruel. He was only 4 at the time and got it pretty badly. If you want to try oats in the bath, pop some in the toe of an old pair of tights. That way you get the lovely gloopy milk stuff without the mess. Imagine that, me being tidier than Jenwa!

loulou33 · 11/06/2009 19:59

oops for two posts....

MM - like the idea of the oats in the tights but we went with bicarb in the bath and that seems to have helped so far..

Joe also had a good feed and fell fast asleep so all is quiet but i expect that won't last for long...

aubergenie · 11/06/2009 20:35

That was a very domestic goddess type suggestion MM.

CSWS - I meant to say ages ago, good news about your dh's work, but you're going to be knackered by the end of the holidays aren't you. Does this change your decision to apply for that job?

jenwa · 11/06/2009 20:36

ah MM In a pair of tights, yes that would have been good! Can just see me now scrubing oats around the bath well if P gets them I will know that then

loulou sorry yes he may get them worse but I suppose being small it may be better to get them now? although not nice

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/06/2009 20:44

Absolutely aubergenie! I won't be applying at all . And yes, I will be knackered by the end of the hols, but let's hope for a nice summer weather wise so that we can at least get outside lots.

How is S now?
