Aubergenie - I meant to ask before, how is your friend getting on with her treatment?

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 22:23

I can't believe you're having to wait so long! Bloomin' NHS! [HMM can't swear due to being on the big-brother-like work laptop]

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/06/2009 22:23

Bananas pureed with a carrot flavour crisp? Vomit Yum!

Having too much soya isn't good for babies, but it's hard to know quite how much is too much! I'm happy with D having a couple of soya yoghurts a week, but would be nervous (rightly or wrongly) about him having one every day.

OP posts:
Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 22:27

Not together Oh the banana was mixed with oat cream too, to get the calories up.

Thanks CSWS, I'll try her with one just to see how she reacts. Trouble with that I suppose is it might have a cumulative effect on the reflux. I don't think she has a major intolerance to either soya or dairy as she didn't improve dramatically on either but it could well be helping the reflux. Oh to have cheese again! I shouldn't moan, some people can't have dairy ever I know.

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/06/2009 22:30

Oh thank goodness for that hmm! I'm all for experimenting with tastes, but that was a step too far even for me .

Fusion food for babies

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 22:33

Poppy doesn't seem all that keen on fish. Is this common? I think it might be the texture she doesn't like.

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 22:36

I'm watching Never Been Kissed. One of my fave films. I'm off to bed soon tho, I'm knackered! Still haven't caught up on the first 9 pages! I'm so glad someone mentioned getting fathers day pressies online, I would've left it to the last minute and then had to get something rubbish from town (which, in line with the Thai theme, lost its best shop when Woolies went under)

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/06/2009 22:38

I suggest salmon hmm - nicer texture imo. Dd will eat that and lemon sole, but not keen on cod/haddock type stuff. Ds seems to love salmon too.

OP posts:
Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 22:40

She had salmon yesterday, that was her first taste of fish. Same reaction. Bloomin' organic stuff too.

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 22:41

She had salmon yesterday, that was her first taste of fish. Same reaction. Bloomin' organic stuff too. She'll eat some, don't get me wrong, she's just not enthusiastic and won't finish it.

pepperrabbit · 06/06/2009 22:41

J rejected fish completely, and when I managed to trick persuade her to eat some, she vommed it everywhere, instantly.
Shan't try that again for a while.....
I think it smells quite distinctive and has a stronger flavour than maybe they're used too?

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 22:41

Doh. I'm afraid I'm gonna have to go to bed ladies. Night all!

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 22:42

Wow, that's some reaction Pepper!

Morning all. Off to in-laws for lunch once ds wakes from his nap. Have a nice Sunday everyone.

OP posts:
loulou33 · 07/06/2009 12:59

Bless him myjob - that is so sweet or maybe not at that time of the morning. The only food that Joe won't eat is strawberries - even mashed up he won't touch them, just purses his lips - strange child...

DS1 is waking up every morning at 6.30am shouting that he needs a poo. We the trek to the downstairs loo for him to have a poo. Sometimes we have to go twice. Why he needs to have his poos in two halves is beyond me. I am hoping that his system will somehow re-jig itself and he might not wake up needing a poo soon. I suppose i should be grateful that he is not pooing in his sleep - that would be really grim to wake up to.

Joe is starting to get the whole finger food thing finally. he can manage bread and rice cakes but anything smaller gets lost in his big hands. He can't do pincer grip at all but i think he can't be bothered and gets frantic at mealtimes. If i offer him a finger food, he opens his mouth like a baby bird and cries if i put it in his hand....so lazy. Only when he's eaten loads will he entertain the idea of feeding himself.....Joe is very anti-blw obviously

HMM - hope Poppy is less sick today and it continues. I am with you on the chinese thing as there is very little veggie stuff that has no onion, soy, spice etc. How about veggie foo yung - without onion?? I know its not very exciting....DH says that Northwich used to have a lovely football ground called the drill - he's now reminiscing about football grounds of the early years - ffs!!

hedgepig · 07/06/2009 15:04

Hello (hedgepig sheepisly shuffles in) another prodigal returns, thanks for the message you left me Jenwa.
I hope you are all well, O is 8 months now, where has the time gone! There are some vaguely recent photos on my profile. O is doing well, sitting up and has ideas about crawling but hates being on his front so never spends enough time on this front to get the hang of it (which is fine by me my lounge is full of choking hazards at the moment ). Sleep is Okish so long as he is in our bed.

LouLou is DS1 having a lot of fruit at tea time which may explain the urgent need to go for a number 2 in the morning?

I'm off to have a read back a few pages although I did see some comments about a naked massage a few pages back

jenwa · 07/06/2009 15:24

Hi hedgepig nice to see you and you DS is a cutie Hope you never thought I was stalking you

Sorry HM for talking about takeaway will try to remember not to

I am aching today, too much rush cleaning yesterday and too much wine last night and then one thing led to another when friends left and we went to bed so am now suffering and have a hangover today! DH being lovely though but that I am sure is due to getting his oats sorry TMI!

Have had a mass sort in dd1s bedroom as had 2 charity bags through the post so am getting rid of the junk, DD is not impressed though!

mm Poor you and that cyst. Not nice.

loulou33 · 07/06/2009 17:52

Hi hedgepig - long time no see and all that... no, not too much fruit but i wonder whether he has a mild stomach bug. We went to a nearby river the other day and he was splashing in shallows etc and then eating and didn't wash his hands . i know i should have done this but i was a bit busy with Joe. OR that this heat doesn't agree with him...don't know but i will have to keep an eye on it for a few days and see...

Sounds like you had a good evening Jenwa

RachieW · 07/06/2009 18:42

Hi everyone, missed two days and loads of chat.

HMM- Good to see you back with a working laptop and brilliant news on Poppy eating so much. Great that she has had some finger food too. Could she teach Jack about actually swallowing food regulary?

Jenwa- Glad you had a good night..a night off and wine is so lovely. It's just the next day that is hideous.

CSWS- Hope you had a good day witht the inlaws?

MM- Sorry to hear your appointment was moved and that you are still waiting. Hope they can do keyhole for you. Will cross all toes and fingers.

Jack and I are at my Mum and Dad's in the Midlands. Yay, yay, yay . We drove up yesterday and dh has gone back home today for work. I love coming home, at the moment Jack is out for a walk with Nanny and Grandad. I've also managed to get an hour snooze on the sofa which never happens at home. My youngest brother is also home having just finished uni and is very good at entertaining Jack. I'm aiming for a lazy week My parents are driving us back next Saturday and Mum is staying for a few days to look after Jack while I got to work for a few contact days

Went to a friend's babies Christening today. I was Fairy Godmother. It was such a lovely service, he didn't wake up at all, not even when he got wet. Made me wish that we had christened J but dh is a true atheist and I don't feel strong enough about it to have the battle. Did think about a naming day as I would really like his birth to have been marked and for him to be officially welcomed into the world iykwim. But I think now we'll just go for a big 1st b'day celebration.

myjob your body deserves a week of delicious abundant food!! Starving yourself is not hte answer, though...

HMM I don't like fish either, I'm with Poppy on that one!

Q is eating halves of blueberries, little chunks of bread and some chunks of mango WITHOUT CHOKING!! he's really turned a corner. He has no teeth, but he's properly chewing. It's so funny to watch!

Still sleeping horribly, but I just keep thinking he'll go back to sleeping through again at some point on his own

aubergenie · 07/06/2009 21:02

Evening all,

Welcome back Hedgepig!

Loulou ? Just a thought, but Joe?s not really hungry when he sits down for his food is he? It?s just that I found S was a bit reluctant to eat if he was hungry because he found it frustrating. I used to give him a little BF before his meal so he didn?t feel so desperate.

MM- Sorry to hear about your appointment being put back. So frustrating when you just need to get it sorted out. Have you any idea how big the cyst is? A friend of mine had quite a large one removed with keyhole surgery, but I?m not sure exactly how large it was.

Thanks for asking about my friend. She?s doing OK. Completely worn out by the chemo, but the consultant said that he expected her to make a full recovery once all the treatment?s finally over, and that?s lifted a horrible weight from her shoulders.

We?ve just had an Indian take away. First one for ages and it was sooooo salty. I know they often are, but I think my tastebuds are really changing with this BLW lark. That?s got to be a good thing in the long run, as I?m sure I ate far too much salt before I started.

Apprentice final now. I?ve got a glass of wine and a gu.

See you later!

jenwa · 07/06/2009 21:02

star dd1 had no teeth until she was 13 months and she managed to chomp her way through biscuits and apples! She had hard gums. Bless Q though, he is doing well with eating. Hopefully the sleep will improve, you know you have time to sort it and when he is a stroppy teenager laying in bed you can get your own back on him by waking him up lots

mjob DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF!!! You have prob put weight on from not eating properly in the first place then eating normally again! Just cut out the rubbish stuff and dont pick at little bits, that is my prob, tasting and picking dds dinner and raiding the crisps and biscuits!!! Just think about the time DH has been home and you have ahd a lovely time. I know how you feel but try to be sensible. I am going to try to shift some more weight before I go back to work but am about to eat a whispa bar now
