i work in the oil industry (promise i'm not evil!) mainly on the environmental side, but i am moving into health and safety management too. I did my general certificate a couple of years ago and can remember what a huge volume of information there is to take in and remember for it! it was very stressful and i swore i would never do that kind of thing again... yet here i am at my pc on a saturday night studying for another professional body exam (an environmental one this time)!!

KSal · 06/06/2009 21:07

obviously slightly distracted by mumsnet at this stage!

Myjob - I think my friend's husband did that, and it was a huge amount of work. Hope he's done well, anyway.

We don't even bother buying newspapers anymore pepper.

I never go in to check on dc in night (unless ill) for fear of waking them! Not that they actually sleep for any great length of time in between visits anyway.
Ds took so much milk in the night last night that by 5:25am he had soaked through his nappy, sleepsuit and sleeping bag, and after a full change obv didn't want to go back to sleep. He then ended up sleeping from 9:15am to 11:50am. I'm not surprised that he wants milk in the night though, as he just won't take any during the day. It is sooooooo frustrating!

Our Sky+ box has gone totally kaput, and sky want to keep us (and everyone else apparently) waiting for 6 weeks before they will sell us an upgraded HD box (it's actually cheaper to do that even with the extra subs for a year than to get a new ordinary Sky+ box). I'm currently waiting to watch Brothers and Sisters on C4 on demand (like i-player), but it seems that my version of flash isn't modern enough for the episode selection page to actually show the play buttons , and it's taking over half an hour to download the latest version .

hmm - I'd be surprised if you couldn't have a good deal of stuff from a chinese takeaway.

to be honest i haven't looked that far into the environmental diploma because my degree was environmental and its what i mainly do.

I think the syllabus looks good, but that is from the viewpoint of someone who has an environmental background... i'm just not sure how much of prior environmental knowledge you would need to be able to do the course.

I guess its slightly different to safety because that is more work/life experience and common sense based than biology/chemistry if you see what i mean?

having sadi all that your DH might be an environmental scientist and i'm talking nonsense!!

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 21:27

CSWS- I can't have soya, therefore soy sauce and tofu is out, I can't have garlic or onions or spicy foods. I've been once and had mushroom fried rice.

On the plus side, I've lost a stone since I started dairy-free in Feb!

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 21:30

I know a stone isn't all that much in 3 and a half months but I've not technically been "dieting"

I was thinking of stuff like lemon chicken, but forgot about you being a veggie! And forgot how many things soy sauce would be in at a chinese - doh!

Marthasmama · 06/06/2009 21:49

I've finally got the internet back tonight! Yay! I'm not going to be able to catch up and have no idea what you're talking about regarding the health and safety stuff

Hmm - Well done! That's a fabulous side effect of the dairy free eh? Glad to see you back I can't lose weight as my hormones are up the spout due to the cyst, plus it is now huge and I look about 6 months pg. I can't wait to have it removed.

CSWS - Oh how frustrating! Sky have been losing lots of customers to Virgin recently, I hope they're not expecting you to pay for the service while you have no functioning box! It was just a theory about the BLWing and dribbling, M must just be a non-dribbly baby.

Aubergenie - You are Stan is doing really well with the sleeping! M managed to only wake once for milk last night between 8pm - 7am and she went straight back to sleep afterwards. I however, had to sleep on the sofa as DH was snoring like a tractor.

Myjob - If DH has done the work, he'll be fine. Hope he does well on Wednesday!

We've had a relaxing day at my mums and M impressed my mum with her chicken and broccoli eating skills!

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/06/2009 21:50

I still have my horrendous sinus headache. Might try and see a doctor this week to see if there's something 'proper' that can be done as it's so recurrent.

Marthasmama · 06/06/2009 21:52

Hmm - Can you get Thai? You could have a big load of tempura veggies. Mmmmmmmmmm........ They would be fine I'm sure as the batter is generally made with egg, flour and soda water.

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 21:52

I'm on the laptop MM so I've not read my FB msgs yet (assuming it's from you!!)

What's happening with your cyst?

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 21:53

Thai? In Northwich???

Marthasmama · 06/06/2009 21:55

CSWS - I have problem sinuses too. I started getting headaches as a teenager and pretty much every time I get a cold, it goes to my sinuses. I used to go to the dr, tell him what was wrong and demand antibiotics. I had some medication to relieve the head aches as a teen but I think they were migraine tablets (and one of the side effects was weight gain eeeek!). Let me know how you get on.......

CantSleepWontSleep · 06/06/2009 21:57

I don't even have a cold though MM - just the headache!

Marthasmama · 06/06/2009 21:59

Hmm - I am seeing the consultant on the 18th June but was meant to be going on the 21st May but the appointment was moved. The bloody thing is huge now and I want it taken out. I am now suspicious that they won't be able to do it through keyhole surgery now that it so large so that would mean a major op cutting through my stomach muscles again.
And is it not cosmopolitan enough for Thai?

Marthasmama · 06/06/2009 22:02

CSWS - That's like what I had as a teen then. My mum gets really bad sinus headaches too.

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 22:10

Jesus, that's awful Just what you need when you've just got over childbirth! Have they mentioned about having more children further?

Northwich is not cosmopolitan enough for Chinese, never mind Thai!! I have to go to Manchester for a decent Thai meal, that's about 40 mins away. I don't think they'll deliver....

Talking of food, Poppy has eaten LOADS today! She had steamed pear fingers this morning and porridge with apple jelly, then for lunch she had cod with butternut squash pureed and more apple jelly for dessert and 2 rice cakes, and for tea 2 bananas pureed with a organix carrot wotsit thingy and more apple jelly for dessert! PLUS milk!! I think she's eaten more than me today!!

I had some of her frozen squash puree for tea mixed with my pasta T'was lovely with my fresh tuna steak yum!

Honeymoonmummy · 06/06/2009 22:15

Oh I know what I was gonna ask! I'm going to try her on soya yoghurt (before dairy per the recommendation of the paed dietician), she was hardly sick yesterday and the day before but she's been a bit more sick today (probably because she's eaten her own weight in food), I was gonna try it tomorrow but I might leave it a few more days because of the sicky day. Anyway to cut a long story short too late is soya generally bad for babies or just soya formula?

Marthasmama · 06/06/2009 22:19

Hmm - That's only speculation by me, but the dr struggled get the last one out with keyhole surgery and that was smaller than this one. I was in surgery for 3 hours! When I came round I was knackered and couldn't work out why as it was supposed to be a quick op. But if they can't do it that way it's basically going to be like recovering from another c-section only I'll have a 20lb baby to carry around rather than an 7lb one. That, is going to be tough. Nothing further about future kids but I haven't seen the consultant yet. It's one a like and requested so I'll question him loads. Well done Poppy for all that eating!
