I thought I'd use this title as not all of our delicious babies are on the move yet, including mine

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

We spent this afternoon sitting in the lovely sunshine on the village green of a posh, very traditional English village watching cricket and eating yummy picnic stuff (inc wine). Do you think we'll be allowed back to Scotland if we keep doing such English activities?

Meglet · 28/06/2009 21:25

DD has had a busy afternoon at 2 1st birthday parties. I took her to one and ex P took her to the other, I think she spent most of her time eating breadsticks, cake, fuit, grass and bark chips from the flower borders . As ex p stayed for bath + bedtime they were both in bed by 6:45, bliss.

I have been watching loads of glastonbury this weekend and have decided I'm going to take the dc's in 2 years, dd will be almost 3 by then and ds 4.5. I went in the 90's when it was like lord of the flies, but it looks lovely now. Just need to rope other parents + family into going too.

me me me meglet we'll come with you. Sounds amazing.

Ponymum · 28/06/2009 22:06

starlight !!! at nappies. Oh well, like mother like daughter. I may as well pull some on. Sigh..

debs - your naughty cat! I am not so great at baking so am envious of your scone skills. Every time I get inspiration to improve my baking skills I just ended up eating everything I cook. I went through a phase of practicing making the perfect tarte tartin... and eating them all. Can you imagine the calories?

I too used to do do Weight Watchers. But I can let you in on a little secret. I am currently doing Food Focus. I am secretly hoping the weight is going to fall off by the truckload. (There's several truckloads that need to be shifted.)

digitalgirl · 28/06/2009 23:22

pacita will definitely let you know about what the nurse says although haven't decided if I'll go through with any sort of sleep training yet. Currently attempting to cut down night feeds again. By stretching out the gaps between them from 3 hours to 4 hours.

And yes very excited about my dsis. I think x factor starts on tv in September so will know by then if she's got through to the next stage or not.

sunshinemummy what a small world!! I'm going back to work at her company for five weeks this August so no telling on me if I end up moaning on here how much I hate work and can't wait for it to be over! (unlikely though, I used to work there for 6 years and loved it!)

DS is teething again and has developed a new and improved whine. Designed for maximum annoyance so he gets seen to immediately. Aren't babies efficient?

A close friend of mine has just announced she's 11 weeks pg...makes me so broody! But no, must wait a bit. I'm actually a bit worried about being pg with a toddler. I had terrible SPD kick in midway through the last pg, and DS is a heavy boy that likes to be carried. Bad combination.

Meglet · 28/06/2009 23:31

debi andy from cbeebies was doing stuff in the kids field this year! I reckon it would be loads of fun as long as it didn't rain.

DD has ben grizzling and had me up and down the stairs for the last 30 mins. I think it's a mixture of the heat and teething. I can hear her bumping around now but I think she's just bashing her toys.

starlight I think a bit of creative story telling might be a good idea . Last thing you want is to be interrogated by a hv.

ninja · 29/06/2009 09:15

Starlight TELL THE TRUTH - there's NOTHING wrong with what you're doing.

I'm bf on demand as I know that the MILK is the most important thing until one

She BLW and I'm so amazed at how good her hand eye coordination is.

I'll complete the set of jabs in the summer when she doesn't have a cold (OK you can be creative about this one)

We still co-sleep some of the time as I feel this is a natural thing for the whole family, don't you?

....

You make it sound as if you've fallen into these decision whereas we all know how much knowledge you have and the positive decisions you've made for your little girl.

Don't forget the comment they made when your DS was diagnosed with AS about your empathy with him.

Say it proud not apologetically (and feed the kids toast for breakfast tomorrow, it's not as messy as weetabix )

CarrieBo · 29/06/2009 09:42

We're still not on rightmove! I signed off the details on saturday, what's taking so long?!!!! We want viewings people, and offers! Grrr I'm so impatient.

Ds has self weaned from the boob Now I'll have to have another baby!!

ninja · 29/06/2009 10:13

Carrie hope you're OK about that.

So it's back to normal bras all the time for you

Dd shows NO signs of being any less interested in the boob alhough she's going longer and longer at night [hurrah emotion]

Sunshinemummy · 29/06/2009 10:19

Digi I know it was really funny when we realised. She said to me that she knew someone who's sister was through to X Factor Bootcamp and I said I did too! Don't worry I won't pass anything on - she only had good things to say about you though.

As for festivals we're off to Camp Bestival at end July. Really looking forward to it as there are a few of us going and it's headlined by PJ Harvey and Mr Tumble! Hopefully the weather will be good.

Effy has yet another bout of croup. Was bad on Sat night so we nearly took her to hospital but 10 mins sat under a towel with a bowl of steaming water seemed to help. She's really not sleeping well though and the heat isn't helping.

Am I the only person that was relieved when their baby stopped breastfeeding? I didn't enjoy it at all.

Ponymum · 29/06/2009 10:51

sunshine - you're not alone. I was relieved too when the time came. I did enjoy it earlier (apart from the nightmare thrush of course!) but once I had decided to stop I just wanted it to be over with.

carriebo - phone the agent. Make real pain of yourself. Let them know you mean business and that you are the client from hell if they slip up. Rightmove is updated each night at midnight (so we were told... ) but they are bound to give you some excuse about it being the weekend.

sorry Starlight hope I didn't sound too preachy

ninja · 29/06/2009 11:10

Glad to hear that it went well.

I'm really lucky that when I have seen the HV team they seem pretty well up on things.

I am in such a grouch with my kids today...its taken all my self control to put dd to bed without yelling at her.
Cup of tea and chocolate biscuit time me thinks.

And why doesn't the north east have the heatwave? grr.

CarrieBo · 29/06/2009 13:54

And none of my normal bras fit

CarrieBo · 29/06/2009 13:57

But of course none of that really matters.

Glad you had a good time with the HV starlight, sounds like she mostly has her head screwed on! I ended up getting our books for babies from the library. You have to know to ask for them don't you?!

I just heard banging and it was the man putting the for sale board outside our house WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DebiTheScot · 29/06/2009 14:52

none of my bras fitted either, depressing isn't it.

Its 29.9C here and very sticky. DS2 has been grumpy and sweaty all morning but is having a decent sleep (unlike ds1 who I can hear yapping to himself on the monitor but I am ignoring him leaving him for a bit to develop his playing independently skills )

When the hv eventually reschedules our appointment I want to ask her about the amount of milk ds2 is drinking but I don't know if it's worth it as I can imagine her saying- oh don't worry, as long as he's eating lots of food he'll be fine- and that might not be the best answer she could give.
Am experimenting today with not giving him a bottle at all in the afternoon to see if he'll drink more at night as last night he had none at all at bedtime.

ninja · 29/06/2009 16:31

I'm feeling very proud. The childminder just said that M's the most pleasant baby she's ever minded . Although there seems to be NO separation anxiety

I don't have any bras that fit properly. My best bf bra broke a few months ago and I'm too tight to buy another so I have an odd assortments of ones that nearly fit.

Ponymum · 29/06/2009 16:44

I am very sad about the bra situation. My post pg breasts are a shadow of their former selves. The best way to describe it is like someone let the air out. I tried on bras today. I thought I must have gone down a cup size but it appears not. Same cup size, just, er, sinkier. Boo hoo.

carriebo how can you say it's not hot? I have just been to Monks Cross and it's more like Everyone's Cross! It was hideous at Paul Stride, babies whingeing and everyone melting in the heat. (But tbh I thnought it was a cool day when I left the house - DD was in jeans! but don't worry I soon stripped her.)
